I have never seen a vocal coach or reactor who analyzed her technique in as much detail as you did, like the comparison between speaking tone and singing one and such. 👍 from Japan
The thing I love about Gurenge and Lisa's interpretation of it is that the song is about human pain and suffering and the desire to fight through it to move on. That is why in certain instances it is very soft and low in volume since she is singing about how you get beaten down and cower from the oppression. And other times when she blasts out the music, it is where she is singing about the need for the human spirit to fight and move on. This is not a unique technique to Lisa and others have shown similar techniques (like Madonna or Pat Banatar) but how well Lisa's interpretation of the song fits the lyrics of Gurenge and of course the entire Demon Slayer theme is really well done IMO. For example, the way she sings the chorus at 6:11 where she says "If I can get strong enough to save someone or make a positive difference, then I will thank all the pain and suffering I endured" is so well done as it goes from the soft airy singing in the beginning of the phrase to the blasting energy at the end of the phrase. Similarly at 7:06 when she says "just kindness alone cannot protect someone from evil" you mention how it goes from soft to hard, the soft part is when she is singing about kindness, and the hard part is when she says "you cannot protect someone with it".
LiSA!!! 🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤ I was waiting for you to check out LiSA! She's so good. So good! On my very short list of artists I absolutely have to see live. Going to watch your reaction and then comment: Great reaction! I really liked how you went back and connected her speaking voice to her singing. I hadn't thought about that before, but one of the reasons (of many) that I like First Take is seeing the warm ups and, sometimes, the few remarks by the singer(s) afterwards, as well as the stripped down nature that just focuses primarily on the voice. For all LiSA's musicianship, craft and perfection, her superpower I'd say is her ability to carry intensity and emotion into a song, to the point sometimes that it comes into her tone. I very highly recommend Homura on First Take if you decide you'd like to revisit her (recommend listening to the bit afterwards). Thanks for the reaction!
Just found your channel today from this video- I agree with many others here. Gurenge is great (not that LiSA is ever anything even approaching "less than stellar") but Homura... Homura's really a masterpiece. And the part where she talks after singing always gets me on that video. I weep.
Whenever I listen to this "First Take" by Gurenge or Homura, my eyes start to water... It's a lot of emotion conveyed in her singing, which ends up touching deeply those who are listening to the song!

Whenever I see someone reacting to disturbed, I check for either or Gurenge or Homura. LiSa is definitely one of my favorite artists. These two songs are newer, but she has a long discography to check out. Easily one of my favorite voices. She is such a.... vital person I suppose.
From watching so much reaction videos specially from Philippines, your the first reactor I've subscribed so far, the sole reason for that is the timing of the pauses, which right before the climax, typically i hate that kind of things, but because of you reactions, it doesn't bother me, it feels weird actually. So keep it up😉

She has a very unique voice, which is the result of completely blowing out her voice when she was 15. She went through silence therapy as treatment. I feel like western singers don't use as many layers in pop music for example when compared to a lot of eastern singers, mainstream music in the west feels very manufactured compared to the massive variety that singers like LiSA provide.
