Gurenge does mean 'red lotus' but it's the Japanese version of the Chinese characters. In the "red" of gu-renge in English we would probably describe as crimson - which happens to also be a color motif in the performance video - the color of her dress, the hue of her hair, and the detail on her headset. I think Lisa is a fan of crimson, too. Gurenge - crimson lotus - is an important image for songs like this, as the lotus is an important image to Japanese culture, in particular Buddhism. A lotus is known as a flower which only blooms in muddy waters and cannot thrive in clean or sanitized waters. Thus, a lotus is often used as an image of something which thrives in spite of the dirt/dirtiness. As for the CJK languages helping with pitch - in Korean - there is not the same time of pitch accent or pitch tone as in Japanese or Chinese. In Japanese, pitch accent in phrases is important - the same word have different meanings based on the pitch of the mora/syllables of each phrase and in Japanese pitch is standardized in phrases/sentences. In English, we stress (make louder) a syllable or word to change the meaning. Thus, in Japanese, "ha-shi" means different things if the first part of the word has a high followed by a low pitch, a low pitch throughout, or a low followed by a high pitch. While, a sentence doesn't sound "right" if the pitch-accent in the sentence is incorrect. Meanwhile, in the Chinese languages, the pitch-tone of each word changes the meaning. Thus, "ma" can mean different things based on the pitch. This does mean that Chinese and Japanese speakers are listening for pitch in a way that English speakers are not. So, Chinese and Japanese speakers and singers are likely to be better at hearing for pitch. Not sure if it means that singing is any easier, but, it does mean that their ears are likely to pick-up on pitch quicker than an monolingual English speaker.
I am glad that there was someone else who could explain this in such detail. I was cringing at his explaination but I gave him a pass because I know he isn't very versed in other languages and cultures because he doesn't originally speak English or any Asian languages.
“Japanese version”. A lot of people misunderstand. Japanese Kanji is literally Traditional Chinese characters. None of the characters are different. So I don’t think they can be considered as “Japanese version” when both of them are the same as each other… Edit: Which is why Google translate mistook it as Chinese because it is literally chinese characters.
@@PantsuMaster Not all of the kanji are the same as the chinese characters because there was an era of simplification in china after they were brought to Japan. Example 風 and 风. He was just somehow mistaking a song from a series which he "knew" was an anime which comes from japan but still for some reason didn't pick japanese to get the actual translation correct.
@@VzDeath To add to what you said, when the Japanese started using Chinese characters for written language, not only was there different forms of writing simplification, the meanings behind the characters diverged. A classic example is that the characters which make up the title "Mister" 先生 in Mandarin today mean "teacher" in Japanese. Or that "Teacher" 老师 in Mandarin would be "elderly pastor/master/teacher" in modern Japanese. So, while the character systems may be related, they are not necessarily equal to each other in meaning, use, and even writing.

now you have to react to LISA singing the first take of Homura.
LiSA - Homura "First Take" please.. Watch till the end.. Hope you don't cry. Many of us cried at the end.
She also songs the opening to Sword Art Online, again, an amazing song and anime
She won japan record award🤩
I like his reaction because it`s not an overreact its pure reaction
