- ADA Abbie Carmichael, played by Angie Harmon, outwits a serial killer and gives a great speech on Law and Order. Also, the end of the video (when the killer's confessing what he did) is edited slightly as when I recorded it, it was aired in the daytime. So sorry about that!

Abbie has a brass set of stones..she takes on Mc Coy and the way she handles this perp is great. When Jack interrupts she continues "I'm not finished"..powerful acting!

Terrible defense lawyer. He needed to get on the phone IMMEDIATELY to Houston to verify that they indeed had filed for extradition!! In spite of all that, still a very good scene.
It was all part of the act. McCoy was really backing her all the way. Don't forget, he was a firm believer in state executions.

Funny thing about Texas justice. Texas used to be the state with the shortest conviction-to-execution time in the whole country. Seven years on average! Unfortunately a couple of death row inmates were later exonerated, one only 2 weeks after execution. Two weeks too late...
@@heleneschenbacher8512 Yes, many people know that but not everyone knows that. My boss is a HUGE LAW & ORDER fan and is also a fan of Angie Harmon, but even he didn't know she was a Texan. Not everyone reads up their favorite performer's bio, some of us just enjoy seeing them act on screen. And name-calling is really useless. Be careful, your immaturity is showing. It will show even more when you respond to this with another round of name-calling or otherwise derogatory remark.

One of my favorite law and order episodes ever. Abby Carmichael played by Angie Harmon has always been my favorite ada character. I love her views and willingness to punish people for committing crimes especially murder. Sometimes her Texas Republican views clashed with Jack and Adam and Nora's liberal views and I think that's what helped during her three years on the show. I do miss her. Thanks for posting.
Jack McCoy with the IMMEDIATE "murder one, life without parole"...I know this is an Abby scene but damn, McCoy is the man.

And the scene where she has to talk to some horribly, sexist, disgusting man. When he leaves the room she says "I wonder if he got rugburn on his knuckles on the way out."

I loved the veiled refrence to TX and Gov. Bush at the time.."you'll lose, then bang. There's that pesky needle." Just awesome. Angie had, according to Sam Waterston, a lot of influence over her character. She refused to play even a moderate; she insisted on being an open conservative in liberal Manhattan. Rare to see McCoy as the liberal one when he was a prosecutor. What a great universe Dick Wolf created; and he chose Angie over 84 other women b/c of her TX accent and unique style. Semper Fi.

Gosh, her voice sounds kinda high pitched if you only know her from Rizzoli and Isles :D However, she's awesome xD

This is it... this is the episode where I knew that Angie Harmon could carry her own show, and thank goodness someone realized that and let her. She's brilliant, she's always been so. Proud of a fellow Texan!

I loved her character! This was one of the best scenes of the entire series. "Houston K-9s sniffing away ... Your lawyer will file a couple of appeals - he'll lose and before you know it there's that pesky needle ... They throw the switch a lot quicker down there!"

Claire and Abby were my two favourites ... I just think they elevated the role of assistant or junior so well were great foils for their ADAs in Stone and McCoy.
Yup, when I saw THIS scene I knew McCoy finally found his match!!! Abigail Carmichael, what a woman. BEST ADA in the entire Law & Order franchise by a fairly sizeable margin. Angie Harmon couldn't have been given a better TV role to sink her teeth into. Broke my heart when she finally left the show, but isn't that always the case when the good ones depart? Hah, at the end of this clip you could tell her character REALLY wanted him to get the needle down in Texas instead of life without parole. Can't say I blame her, either!

She didn't look scared bc he said: "She screamed louder." She looked scared bc the next line was: "I pushed my fist in her, and she passed out." *i was terrified!*
RE: The sound: Rizzoli & Isles just wrapped a few years ago. This was uploaded *7 Years Ago* , but was FILMED *20 YEARS AGO* ! Unless this OP say otherwise, i swear: That is the voice that i* recognize & remember; i even said the line w/ her: "There's that pesky needle.".

@@ladycplum No. omg, i watch L&O the way you watched R&I, i'm guessing. i'm even from the hometown of Tyrees Allen, who worked alongside her. She sounds the same as always: raspy, bossy, aggressive.
You left out his fisting comment. He kind of wins the argument in that scene, because he still manages to scare her. It's repulsive, but relevant to the dialogue.

Actually, if you check out the Rizzoli and Isles Gag Reel, there is a clip where she remarks on how deep her voice is at that moment.

@mrjlh91 Considering that both have tragi back stories, I am not surprised that she is a female version of Jack McCoy.
Angie's voice is still raw and edgy in this but it's gotten so much deeper since then! Absolutely adored her in L&O
Btw, something else I noticed in this scene: There is a line edited out here that the serial killer says that I DO remember hearing from the original airing: "I pushed my fist into her...and she passed out!" Says it immediately after he says how she screamed louder when he burned her. Now I know why they cut THAT part out, heh. Not for the easily squeamish (but maybe alright for the BDSM crowd, lol)...

To me this episode forshadows Abbie's revelation at the end of Punk. I have to wonder if Abbie was channelling some of her contempt for the third year law student that she mentioned onto Bergstrom. The guy was already a psycho, but one has to wonder if he brought back some memories of Abbie's expericence with the law student.

Abbie Carmichael (Angie Harmon) is sooooo damn beautiful in my opinion. Her face, body, and demeanor (as Ms. Carmichael, since I obviously don't know Harmon personally) are all just so beautiful. I would love to be with a woman like her!
