I understand you 100%. Sewing IS therapeutic! I was skeptical about this pattern but after seeing your versions I am totally sold! Love, love, love the color blocked tops! You look awesome in those colors!!!!!
Whitney, thank you for today’s video. I am really stressed out at the moment, but I was feeling guilty for wanting to take a break to just sew a bit. I had pretty much decided to put it on the back burner and keep working on other things around the house, ignoring all the signs my body was giving me, begging for a break. Thank you for reminding me that it’s important to take a break when we need it. And I need it. I am glad you were able to take that time, too. And I’m so glad your meds are in. I am off to sew!
Hi Whitney, thank you for another great blog. Both the dress and top are lovely. I’m so sorry you are feeling under the weather. I hope your medication comes soon. You will be glad your children are finishing school today. It must be very stressful having children at school with everything that’s going on in the world. God Bless you and your family.🇦🇺🧵🪡
I love that dress and it looks fantastic on you. So glad to hear you got your thyroid medication in. I have hypothyroidism so I know the symptoms and how bad you can feel. This world and this country has been quite heavy these past days and my emotions have been all over the place. We had a little family thing also. My son came down with Covid and felt pretty bad for couple of days. Then his 2 year old son’s daycare shut down because a couple staff tested positive for Covid. So hubby and I stepped in for grandparents duty and watched our grandson last 3 days. We had awesome time with him at a special park designed for toddlers up to about 4 years old. So fun to watch the little ones in their own little world. We just did morning with him today as his mama got off early so I got back to my sewing this afternoon and a little tonight and it was therapeutic , relaxing, and just plain fun.
Love the dress and top, Whitney. The colors are great on you. Glad things are looking up for you. Thank you for taking the time to make the video. Take good care.
Sewing is very therapeutic for me too. I also take thyroid meds and I know exactly how you are feeling. Hang I. There and keep sewing!! Love your videos!!
Lovely to see this different style of vlog. The world really is a heavy place right now, I agree. I've struggled with many issues over the years and I have found sewing and gardening to be the refuge I turn to when I need to re-focus my thoughts. I'm sorry to hear of you not having your medication...that's scary but glad that it is now in. Thank-you for doing this Vlog regardless. It was nice to hear you are using the inspo shot I sent you for the Adrienne Blouse. I look forward to seeing it.
I'm so glad you liked this one. I'm so excited to get my sleeve fabric in and make up that Adrienne. Thank you so much, again, for sending that picture!
Sewing is the best therapy. It is so hard to watch the news and try to process all that is going on. Love the bright yellow/gold dress on you and the t shirt is adorable too
Thanks for all you share! So glad your meds came in and I hope you feel better soon. Your dress looks fantastic and I’m off to grab the pattern 💕 Thanks for all the great ideas and inspiration!
Just sending some love 💕 Glad your medicine got in. Those supply chain issues are having quite an impact, haven’t they? Thank you for the going into the comparison with the Wanderlust, because that was my main question as soon as I saw the dress on you. Love that colour by the way 💕💕
I have never been drawn to this pattern but seeing it on you it looks fabulous! The color blocking is perfection. That yellow orange color looks just like the center of a mango. Love it!
Luv the dress... so flattering :) Hugs from Canada.. so understand what you are feeling this week.. it has been emotional for many of us as well. Sewing is definitely something that can keeps us grounded and bring enjoyment to ourselves and those we sew for
Your positivity is infectious! The dress and top came out great, the colors are perfect on you. I have that pattern now I am more likely to make, you made it look so good. Glad you could take a mental health day, creativity clears the emotions.
Wow! That is the best fitting dress! Perfecto! You did it again - have to have this pattern! Hope mine turns out as good as yours. Glad you had a fun, successful day. Thanks!
To put it bluntly…times in the world just simply suck! We have to pray for others and find some way to bring ourselves together! Join together as a family unit and then bring in others. Make and keep those positive bonds. Pray for those who have evil in their hearts. We have to pull together. 🙏 🤲 😢 👼 Ok, I will step down from my soapbox. Love the ease of this new pattern. Just bought it and when I get home from a family weekend…I am going shopping through my stash! 😀. That makes me smile. Thank you Whitney for being so honest. P.S. I totally understand the effects of not getting the thyroid medication(s) needed. I have set aside some time myself to research if there is another way I can help myself and my body with the thyroid maintenance through possible diet changes. I was shocked at the high numbers of women who are on thyroid maintenance. My thyroid issue was because of immunotherapy for cancer. But my stepdaughter was affected by the birth of her last child. Such a delicate balance. All the best to you and ALL women who have a tricky thyroid.
Just found your channel and really enjoyed your sewing! I’m off to order the Tidal pattern. I haven’t tried a Love Notion pattern and this looks like a great one to start with.
I hate being compared to a car all the time by physician, however, the human body and the internal combustion engine are actually similar. When you don’t put the proper fuel and oil into the one, don’t count on it performing well and getting you where you need to go (like a fabric store!) When your fine tuned body is used to being well maintained, and then suddenly….a big component is taken away, don’t expect to feel and perform well. I can relate to your symptoms but that is why my sewing room isn’t just a room in my home….it is MY sanctuary where I designed every single aspect of it from the floor to the ceiling and everything in between! If I were a room, that is what I’d look like! I have a friend who does not enjoy cooking/baking, never learned to sew, is not interested in learning any type of craft and whose main hobby is shopping! She’s got two walk-in closets full of clothes with tags still on it. Yes, she is a true “Linda!” We’re so blessed to have our sewing rooms to go to for awhile when the world is too much. I love your dress, Whitney! The color and the fit are great. When I purchased the Tidal back in May 2020, my intent was to try my hand at color blocking. I never happened and now I can give it a try with the new block using two solids. You’ve inspired me! Enjoy your weekend and relish in the fact that you made it through their Freshman year. I remember the anxiety you expressed at the beginning of this past school year about the twins entering their first year of high school. Well, everyone made it through! Keeping us all in my prayers as we, once again, try to find our way through this senseless, incredible loss and remember to show compassion, kindness, and love to one another. ❤️
What a lovely comment and great reminder! I should have given myself more grace all week since I knew I was without my medicine. Thank goodness for this hobby!
You are not alone in needing to "just sew". The color blocking shirt is my favorite. The link in the description is for the Rhapsody not the Tidal. Have a great weekend.
Your dress is lovely and looks great on you. I was all excited about this dress until I found out the back wraps around to the front. I am afraid the dress will hang up on my backside.
Glad your meds came in, that’s a worry when it doesn’t take long to notice their absence. You could have been describing some of my MS symptoms, brain fog, fatigue, cognitive deficit, I take meds to stop it getting worse - which don’t work for everybody - so I consider myself very lucky - (I wish there was a tablet to take the brain fog and fatigue away!)! 😂😂😂 anyhoo what I wanted to ask I was, do you think putting pockets in this dress could be doable? I’m guessing not, but thought you may have seen something before. Take care, hope those meds are kicking in by now. ❤️
Because there isn't a side seam, adding pockets could be tricky. That being said, you could put pockets into the princess seam in the front, if you wanted!
So glad you got your meds. I’ve been taking thyroid medicine since 1988. Be careful missing so much! Could you tell me where you order your tomkat stitchery tags from. I have decided I need some personalized tags. Thanks in advance!
I find Love Notions necklines are so wide to me. Do you adjust the necklines to bring them in closer to your neck? Can you talk about how to do that? Thanks! Love your channel!
I have noticed that people tend to make a size too large with Love Notions patterns. My upper bust measurement is 36". The medium is for a 35" upper bust and the large is for a 37" upper bust. In the patterns, it suggests sizing down if between sizes so I make a size medium (with the full bust pieces) and it helps the neckline and shoulders to fit without adjustment!
Whitney, please take care of yourself. It’s a difficult time.. your need for sewing is how I feel about spinning. A question about this dress..I am pear shaped with hips bigger than the size for my bust. I wonder if I should grade to the larger size for my hips or is it full enough. .
I would say it would depend on the size difference between your bust and hips. If you are just one size differences you'll be fine. If you are more than that, you might want to grade out at the hip. The dress is fitted at the bust and then relaxed at the waist and. hip. It also has the center back seam that makes fitting in the back really easy as well!
Most pharmaceutical companies have special reserves and compassionate drug programs. You doctor could contact his sales rep and ask if some samples are available (it’s unlikely, but you never know). Thanks for your vlog Whitney !
Whitney, love, love, love your videos. You are such an accomplished sewer. Would you take some advice from another full busted girl, 36g to be exact. Those of us blessed with our aquirements need to be extra careful with certain things. For instance, and I really hope you don't mind... 1. The length of our sleeves should never end at the fullest part of our bust, and when you turn to show us the back it seems to me you could do with a sway back adjustment or the back needs shortening a little more at the waist. Just one more , your fabric seems to wrinkle a lot under your arms, as if you need to do a bigger full bust adjustment or youneed a bigger size. Would you mind giving these tips a try and letting us see the results. I have noticed a change I my body shape as I get older, thankfully we have the means to do something about it. Please don't think I'm critisisizing, you are doing a really great job.
I completely agree about the length of sleeves. It is a delicate balance with a full bust! I also agree that I need to shorten the back bodice of the dress. I have a very short torso and while the bust eats up a lot of that length in the front, it's not the case in the back. I do plan on adjusting that on this pattern. Fitting is such a journey 😉.
@@TomKatStitchery Thank you for answering my question. I bought this pattern and was wondering. I am having some issues with bloating in my lower waist. I was just wondering if it would not show up like I'm nine months pregnant. Thank you. I'm still going to make it.
I always think I can get away from the horrific news of all these happenings in the country by watching videos, pretending somehow I'm making it worse than what's really happening, but now I see it's affecting all of us and it's worrisome, especially you not getting the medication you need. Scary stuff.

Hi Witney, I love the dress, it's very slenderizing! I'll have to make one! The top is cute, I love the two colors together!

I've looked at the Tidal so many times but it isn't in my collection. It would make such a great easy throw-on beach cover up.

I’m waiting to that turquoise jungle print with the tigers in a Rhapsody. ;)

I agree that something is a bit off. I"m wondering if it's because I'm using two different fabric and one was beefier than the other.
