    Tie dye the bled upon dress. It's a great way to revive things that get stained by pretty much anything and with tie dyeing you don't have to be super careful like if you try to dye it to be all a single color. You can also bleach areas but that will weaken the fabric a bit. Thanks for showing these patterns.

    Before I forget by the end of this video, you look gorgeous in that color. That shacket color looks awesome. And your hair color is beautiful too

    I must add that you look so beautiful in your Shacket. Your dark golden hair color is so becoming on you and you just nailed it with this Jacket fabric and your lipstick and makeup! And I love the shacket buttons too 🥰 Can't wait for 2023 and your new sewing inspirations. PS - I love your "Sew the Look" videos the most😍

    The blue cadence is periwinkle blue, I think. I have to say that your new shacket with the make-up you are wearing and your hair color, well, absolutely perfect tone to everything. I had to come back on and say, dye the yellow dress a dark, rich brown. Do it for the experiment. Dye is cheap.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good point! I can't ruin the dress so I might as well play around with it!

    I have made 8 camisoles w/ spaghetti straps out of silk. Various colors. I wear them all the time under T-shirts and will continue under my long sleeve shirts during winter. They are very warm and are not bulky. Love them.

    Happy New Year, Whitney! Your endorsement of the Compose Robe struck me. I can give a robe to all the girls/women in my family for birthday presents this year. Thank you!!! And for the really lucky ones-some Luna pj’s. One less thing to stress about. 🎉

    You know what patterns I'd like to see you take on ...Vicki Sews. There are some really interesting coats. As you know, since you sewed this company for your daughter there is a very young vibe to her patterns which is nice. And the patterns are usually on sale and very inexpensive.

    Love the Tidal dress, did you narrow the neckline? The drawing appears to be a wider neckline, I've stayed away from the Tidal pattern as I felt the wide scoop neckline would be sloppy on my narrow shoulders. If you did... I'd love to see a tutorial.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't adjust the neckline at all. I made the size medium with the full bust front. I shortened the dress by 2" (1" at the waist and 1" in the skirt), but that's the only alteration I made!

    Thanks for this! I have most of these amazing patterns…a few yet to sew up for the first time. I’m struggling with the Metra blazer faux welt pocket, which means I can’t move forward. I’ve put it aside for awhile. I’m not sure I can fix it. 🙁 This might have to be a muslin. At least with this pattern the tricky bits are at the outset, not at the end after you’ve put all the time in and are so excited for the final garment, then have a fail😂

    • @jojobtrcook1808

      Whitney, Happy New Year! I have a question about the Tessa sheath dress. I know by the name, a sheath dress should be straight from the hip down. I like the dress, but do you think I could widen the sides of the skirt a bit to make it sort of like a mini a line dress? My hips are larger and iI do not look good in a skirt like that. Thanks so much for,all your hard work. I really love your channel!

    • @denisedorsey2889
      @denisedorsey2889 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jojobtrcook1808 I don’t think you meant for your comment to be a response to mine….but since you did, I’ll put my two cents in, lol😊. You can use the Sybil Illusion skirt pattern from LN to change up the skirt on the Tessa Sheath dress. It’s been drafted to do just that! Might as well grab it during the sale. Happy sewing!

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Jojo, you definitely could do that! Also, like Denise said, you could also add the a-line skirt from the Sybil as well. This way does add a waist seam, however. Alternatively, you could just the skirt portion off the Tessa, slash and spread the skirt a bit (leaving the cut line in tact) and then tape it back to the bodice. This will give you a fuller skirt without the waist seam!

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Denise, if you are struggling with the Metra, you may wait to see if a class is released for that pattern . . .

    • @denisedorsey2889
      @denisedorsey2889 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TomKatStitchery Good thought on the Metra. It’s just that I couldn’t see my markings very well for that pocket area and I’m pretty sure my little snip into the corner bit caused it go awry. I’ll have another look at it when my head is in the right space, lol.
