    This is exactly what I needed. I have been trying to find a fleece backed legging fabric to re-create my favorite leggings from Eddie Bauer. I have been looking all over the internet for something similar and I think Surge fabrics has it! I didn't know about Surge until now so thank you! I always find all the goodies from your posts! I am also going to pick up the last few Love Notions patterns that I don't already have - lol! I love all these athleisure ideas!

    Thanks for all the inspiration! And putting the time in these videos! Can’t wait for the sewalong. P.S. I made a Harper cardigan last week in the classic length. Love it! Making another one already for my daughter in law. I also was watching one of your older videos and you mention metro textiles. I happened to look them up after the video and they were having 60% off their whole site. Needless to say, I spent way too much money and have about 40 yards of fabric coming this week. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I am now on a spending freeze for the rest of the month. 🤣 So I thank you, but my bank account does not. 😉

    Love this shirt fabric on you! I never would normally be one to get my colors done but you’re really tempting me! I just finished a pair of the Resolution bottoms in the yoga style, with straight leg, and I love them! I made them in a denim type knit fabric and they are so comfortable and look great. I'm about to make another pair, and make the Arlington sweater cowl neck to go with them. Thank you for introducing me to love notions! I've made several of their patterns now, and so happy with the great fit and directions they have.

    I hear you with the pummeling of diet ads, on fb, pinterest, ig, everywhere!! I think out of the ten there are only two I don't have! lol Have you ever done a video on how to fix the tension on your serger? That would be something I'd be interested in, that's why I rarely use it!

    I have many, many Love Notions patterns for women and children and will be picking up a few more this week. They are my go to pattern company for basic wardrobe staples because of the number of options with each pattern and the good fit I can achieve with just a few alterations. When you were talking about the sherpa sweater it reminded me of a recent pattern release from Fibre Mood. It’s called the Didi. It has the front half zip with a placket already built into the pattern 😉

    Great suggestions Whitney! I’ve made a few of the tops and have all the patterns you mentioned. So much to do so little time🤪. I never considered the Summer basics for nightwear, but that would work out so well especially with the shelf bra. I usually use the Laundry Day Tee pattern. I’m so looking forward to the updated Terra Tunic. Love that pattern too. One of my sewing goals is to make bottoms this year🤞. Excited about your upcoming sew along featuring the Foz by I2S.

    Thanks for the recommendations! I can have a tough time visualizing how I can use patterns to recreate RTW looks I like. As a side note, when it comes to bodies, (even our own) it seems to me we just can’t win, so good luck. No matter what you say, someone will be offended by something, regardless of your intent. I hope the negative comments don’t get to you. I think it can be hard being “out there” for all to see.

    This was such a great video. Really liked all of the styles and it's always a great help to know where to buy good fabrics. I make a list of your favorite fabric stores each time you do this type of video. I would like to make alot of these styles, but I am a 16/18 rtw size on top and a 16 on the bottom. I fear I will look like a moose in some of these styles. I'd like your opinion on this. My husband tells me I am overly sensitive, but because of meds, I went from 125 lbs to 185 lbs in 6 months! It was a shock and I still can't look at myself without getting depressed. I do want to look up to date fashion wise w/o looking like a moose. Thanks so much.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, I think we are all entitled to feel how we like about our bodies so don't feel like you're being overly sensitive. That being said, while a changing or changed body can be a shock to the system, you are beautiful in all stages! I think you could pull any of these looks off. What I really enjoy about stores now is that they are getting better about showing clothes on more real bodies. It really helps to see how the regular/everyday woman can wear these styles and silhouettes. I think any of these are just as beautiful in any size!

    Just curious how you decide how much fabric to purchase online when you don’t necessarily have a particular garment in mind… to add to stash.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While I don't necessarily have a pattern in mind, I usually have a garment type in mind when I'm shopping (for example if I think it will be a dress I'll grab 3 yards). I usually do 1.5-2 yards for pants, 2 yards for tops, 2.5-3 yards for shirts, 3 yards for dresses, 3-4 yards for coats, and 1.5 yards for t-shirts.

    I have a question, I've seen you use a transparent cutting mat.
    I'm replacing my green one.
    So should I buy a Clear transparent cutting mat or a Frosted one?
    Which one do you use?
    Thank you again and happy new year!!

      Mine is really more of a frosted one and it's only that way because that's what I could find in the size I wanted. Mine came from Quilters Rule and it has ALL the different sizes. I've had mine for about 8 years now and it has been amazing. I highly recommend! Here is the link: quiltersrule.com

    Hi Whitney. I have just started watching your videos and really enjoy them. I am a professional seamstress but do mostly bridal wear. I don't have loads of time to sew for myself so getting fit right from the beginning really helps. You are the same height as me and similar in shape from the ribs down :) I am not busty. my sister is very similar in shape to you and she has started watching these videos also and has followed a lot of your recommendations. We live in Ontario, Canada. Anyways... I wanted to send you a note to maybe add a store to your list of great athletic wear fabric stores. Discovery Fabrics in BC has an amazing selection of high quality athletic fabrics at extremely good prices. Go check them out. With your exchange rate, you could make some amazing buys.
    thanks
