While watching this video I notice your hair styles. As a retired hair stylist I am telling you that the hair style you look fab in is that red with bangs is your best look. What you are wearing does not carry off you lovely features.
I’m so excited for your success and to see your channel community grow! Your videos have been hands down the most helpful over the last couple of years, not just with techniques but style, fabric, pattern selection, everything. Can’t wait to see what else is in store!
Whitney, I’m rather late to the game here, but sometimes life happens and you get behind in what is most important: Sewing! Which includes watching TomKat Stitchery on TH-cam! You can’t imagine where my imagination took me when you gave us a little hint with a huge smile that an announcement was forthcoming! Well, this is better than anything I could come up with! It is certainly taking your Brand to the next level. I’ve learned that you are not going to have a cohesive wardrobe, bespoke or purchased from a retailer, unless you follow a few rules. These rules actually make life so, so easy for the sewist as well as the shopper. What you have done here is to put everything one needs into a concise workbook for us and for that I am truly appreciative! The newsletter is going to a wonderful feature of TomKat Stitchery to be sure! This episode was an awesome precursor to what I am sure is going to be a very successful venture! Hugs!
You are definitely the most helpful sewing TH-cam I’ve found! Even if I don’t want to sew the pattern you are sewing I always pick up useful tips and pieces of knowledge from you. Thanks for all you do! Love that fabric you’re wearing btw!
Thank you Whitney for your wardrobe basics document. While I’m a senior (a fall based on 80s Color Me Beautiful) and expect to be living in a RV for the next year, meaning I’ll have to pare down my wardrobe, I have learned so much from you about cohesive capsules and that will be an absolute necessity with limited storage space. But please don’t forget those of us who are not full busted. It sounds more like I’m closer to your sister, average height but still short waisted, smaller bust, and curves in my lower half. I also have to highly recommend that you join the projector sewing world because most of the alterations you make are so simple if the pattern comes with a full bust option. Shortening patterns can be done by moving your cutting board the appropriate amount. I use the projector exclusively when sewing for my grandkids now (about 75% of my sewing) and use Dorothy’s Daughter’s hybrid method when sewing for myself. I need to lower one shoulder, lower the bust, shorten the overall bodice. I’ve just never mastered Inkscape or Designer Affinity to be able to make all those changes so generally I trace the projected image of the bodice onto medical paper and then proceed to cut and paste all the alterations, then just use the skirt as projected. I save so much time and resources and my storage needs have greatly diminished. Check out the Projectors for Sewing Facebook group
Nikki in Jerusalem saying thanks for all you’re doing to motivate me to stop stopping before I start. Your positive attitude is catchy congrats on the newsletter
You are in my top 3 sewing video list. You give great tips for full busted women & I also look best in warm tones colors. I had my colors done years ago. It's very helpful. No more trying to look good in black or dark navy. I consider you a "sewing buddy". You inspire many.
Enjoyed this video. I am older and sometimes wonder if sewing capsules make sense for me. I, too am a large bust woman who is thankful when I found love notions patterns. If I hadn’t watched your channel, I would not have those patterns. I would love to receive your newsletter.
Oh Whitney, you are an absolute gem on TH-cam. I love your channel, your style and your wardrobe planning. I am so excited to try this concept out, with the help of your checklist! Thanks for this and for always putting out awesome content!
What a coincidence! I purchased the Upton w/expansion pack the last time Cashmerette had a buy 2/get 1 pattern sale. I will be attending a wedding in early 2023 and thought this would be the perfect pattern to create a special dress for the occassion. Have fun deciding which two versions you'll be making for your upcoming weddings!
Not only was this a wonderful video, I am so excited about your newsletter. Thank you for all the hard work you put into your channel. It is such a source of inspiration for me. And it’s a haven of comfort. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewatched videos just because I enjoy them so.
I am so excited for your channel success and this newsletter and the worksheet and everything to come!!! I am so happy for you! I can’t wait to continue on this journey and see where it takes you and all of us in your community. You are such an asset to the sewing community! 💕💕
I've subscribed to your newsletter! As you can see by my channel name, I'm an advocate of the capsule wardrobe philosophy myself and find that it's so much easier to have clothes that can be worn together so there's chance of less clothes sitting unloved and unworn in a drawer or closet, especially after taking the time and effort to make them 🙂 I just wanted to add that having watched an earlier video of yours right after this one (the one where you went on a sewing retreat weekend), your colours and style are just SO much more complimentary now! Your clothes are amazing and suit you so well 🙂
Thank you so much! I am right there with you with the capsule wardrobes. I'm also shocked when I look back at old footage and how much better my colors are now 😂.
I saw a Cashmerette user post pix yesterday of her daughter’s wedding. She used three versions of the upland for her daughter’s gown. Satin under gown, a organza? Overlay, and then a reception dress.
I have purchased a few capsules from your everyday day style but there was a lot there that went beyond my comfort zone. I am a kibble soft classic and prefer a classic esthetic. I have recently found the stunning style society and I really love it. I have been following your self exploration and used it to inspire my own. I really enjoy your honesty and content. Keep up the great work and thanks for all you do.
This is so well timed! I've spent the last 2 years working on a me-made wardrobe and have a pile of linen on my cutting table right now. You came across my feed 2 weeks ago, and I really enjoy your channel! Cashmerette is my jam. It's dead easy to grade their patterns to fit my large-busted, very pear shaped body. Sewing my own clothes is really the only way I'll ever have a pair of pants actually fit properly.
All signed up! You have really stepped up the demand for your time. We appreciate it immensely! All the best to you, and us, for Y(our) new adventures!
TomKat has definitely become a full time job now, but there is nothing else I would rather being doing for my occupation! It really is and has been a blessing!
Skirt: just picked up Butterick 6866 a 6 gore skirt. I haven't made it yet but I am replacing an old TNT I prefer 6 gore because it allows for enough seam fitting and allows for better fabric uses I rediscovered shorter skirts as an alternative to shorts a while back and have been trying to nail down a skirt pattern that will go from bread to cake to frosting. Edit: I forgot to say thank you. This is coming at just the right time for me. So, thank you.
How exciting! I'm looking forward to the newsletter and workbook and all your new videos. You are my inspiration. I am listening to the Everyday Style School. Jennifer is great. Thank for all your videos!
What wonderful resource! I have to completely overhaul my wardrobe and this will help a lot. I thought I was a winter, but after having my colours done by "Style yourself confident", I was classified as a true summer. So I need to make my colours softer. We also moved from a very hot country to Ireland and cool, breezy dresses and skirts do not work. So after 13 years of only wearing dresses, I now have to start making trousers. I'm now going to sign up for that newsletter.
I look forward to what is coming on your channel. I have a completely different body shape to you and still find so much to inspire me in every video. Good work, Whitney.
Thanks Whitney. I need that list so badly. My wardrobe is a real hotch potch of oddments that don’t match or have nothing to go with them. Congratulations on your success with the channel. It’s thoroughly deserved for all of the hard work you put into it. Xxx
Wow, what a great, timely and exciting announcement! I have been floundering trying to come up with a capsule summer wardrobe and I can't wait to use the checklist you developed. I know it is going to be so helpful. I love watching your videos and I am sure your website is going to be as informative and helpful. Just a thought, I save a lot of your videos for reference it would be helpful to find them on your website rather than weeding through all my saved TH-cam videos looking for a specific sewing technique you have taught and explained. Love what you are doing for me personally and our sewing community.
Yay! I'm so excited for you! Congrats on your new adventure :-) I'll be happy to be a part of it, as I truly enjoy your videos. Your smile and laugh always lifts my mood and the fact that you are about fitting your body and finding your own style instead of just following trends make a world of difference! Thank you so much! Anna, Denmark (GulSystue)
Hi Whitney. Thank you so much for this. You’ve managed to single-handedly focus and invigorate my sewing. I’ve struggled with how to keep track of my TNT patterns and I think this workbook will do the trick. Love your channel; you are great company in the sewing room! All the best.
Congrats on 25 thousand viewers. Heading over to sign up for newsletter. Love the PDF. Great idea. With everything you do I don't know how you have time to sew. Loved the spring capsule. Haven't finished all the projects. Saw a snapshot of summer capsule and those pieces are quick sews. Love your channel. You are so motivating.
Oh cool! I will sign up now. You are seriously in my top 2 of people that I love to watch on youtube. Your manic sewing energy pushes me to get into my sewing room and actually create the garments that I dream up. And I admire and appreciate your consistency in putting up videos so regularly. I'm really looking forward to the bias tape video.
Thank you so much! I'm new to sewing and have found your videos to be very inspiring. I'm looking forward to receiving your newsletters and whatever surprise you have coming up.
It is so very generous of you to take the time to put together such an extensive list, thank you!! 🥰 Now it looks like I should spend some time to work on putting it into action for my wardrobe as well.
Hey awesome Whitney! During the last year I've lost over 40kg (thats close to 90 pounds in imperial - wow sounds ALOT in pounds!). Naturally that means my whole wardrobe - and I mean even right down to my underwear - needs replacing. I've dabbled in capsule wardrobes and wardrobe planning a little bit but its fair to say I lack follow through 😁. But I think with your support I can do this! I really look forward to planning out my makes. As it happens I'm starting with the Octave coat this weekend because next weekend I'm visiting my sister down south where is is COLD ( winter in NZ). I put my old parka on yesterday to see if I could still get away with it but my husband said "erm, bit big love" 😇. Your PDF sheets are so timely for me. Thank you and I'm signing up now!!!
I've never really used a formula, but I think unconsciously, over the years I have built a basics wardrobe. I know my colours and so everything just seems to go together. It was good to see this vlog to help me fine-tune some of the pieces I can add. Thank-you and congratulations!
Congratulations Whitney on the growth of your channel. It is so exciting. I am a faithful viewer and have learned so much from you. I’ve already signed up for your newsletter
@@TomKatStitchery I recently made kids version for my daughter- she loves it sooo much she twirls while walking :) Anyway Ellie and Mac has a lot if great patterns especially for busty ladies. I just finished my 6th tress belle - 3 dresses and 3 tops (faux wrap with half circle peplum). And they recently lowered prices so more people can afford their patterns ( especially with prices of everything going up). I have a lot of their patterns and they are my go to unless I am drafting pattern myself
Go girl! You are “what it’s all about”… transition and transformation. I wish you luck on all your plans! I know I will be inspired in many ways. Onward!
Printing out the pdf ASAP so I can start making more basics for my wardrobe. Congratulations on all your subscribers. You are one of me few favorites that I always watch. Looking forward to seeing what things you are working on behind the scenes.
Woo Hoo exciting stuff Whitney. Have subscribed mid vlog and come back for the ending. I’ve got a good few of the patterns that you mention/link to. Be interesting to see what you newsletter brings us. Thank you 🤓🏴
Just signed up for your newsletter. I also went to Hobby Lobby and bought fabric to make two of the Tidal dresses from Tami. They are in the dryer now. I love all your videos no matter what it is because I always get inspirted and learn something to boot. Thank you.
I'm hooting in my living room like a fool! What a great thing to do for us - I know I will find this very useful as I am definitely a list person. Thank you (and your assistant) so much for all your hard work. I've been with you from the beginning and always look forward to your videos. I'm not surprised you have over 25,000 subscribers!
Whitney ,I love your channel and this show! Thank you! I must say I just LOVE you in the darker hair with the red hue. It's very flattering, Keep up the good work!
Just want to say I subscribed to your newsletter! I had my colors done 40 years ago (yes I’m old) but it really was eye opening and has really helped me pick wardrobe colors. And I loved the print dress you had on in the video!
Me too! Color Me Beautiful in the early ‘80s, when I earned I was a winter. At that time I was making most of my clothes including lined skirts, pants and blazers in SUMMER colors. They all looked so-so on me. As you said, life changing!
@@Bready29645 All the Speech Language Therapists in my school district came to my house. It was a blast, and the excitement lasted for weeks as we each learned how to use and dress for our colors.
Signed up for the newsletter - thank you. My sewing skills are not nearly to the caliber of yours but am constantly learning from you. Your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you, and best wishes.
I think you will do great! I look forward each day that you put out a video. I am a teacher and have 3 more days next week and then, I will do my colors and start my new wardrobe for the fall! Thanks for your inspiration!
Thank you Whitney for such a useful video. So helpful for those of us who have become slightly overwhelmed by the capsule. I have only just discovered your channel and love what I have watched so far.
Thanks! I love love love your wrap dress. I already have that fabric in my cart, waiting to figure out what to make. A wrap dress may be the winner. I too and short, 5'2, with a very large bust.
You know I love you and Cashmerette - It’s the Upton you’re taking about. 😊 I think I guessed 90% of your picks. Congrats on your project. You’re so awesome.
Congratulations on your numbers of Subscribers, you work very hard to put out Great content, and it is really appreciated.👍 All signed up for your News letter, looking forward to that content also. The Rose Clair dress looks great on you, the colors are so vibrant, and cheerful. Thanks for all your Volg''s 😎☀️
Congratulations Whitney! Just what we need to keep our sewing plans organized. Signed up for the news letter and looking forward to making a basic wardrobe just for me.
Thank you so much for all you share with us!! Just in the last few months I’ve been watching your channel I’ve learned so much. I use to sew 40 years ago but have just recently started back. My biggest challenge is alterations. I have scoliosis and I’m petite in size. I’m hoping as I watch your channel I’ll learn how to make alterations . Plus I love your method of sewing seasonal capsules and tips on wardrobe building. Looking forward to getting these PDFS. Thanks again and have a great weekend! 😊
Exciting news! Congratulations on the numbers. I signed up for the newsletter. Looking forward to it, as well as Sunday's tutorial. Thanks for all you do!
This is such a good idea. My body is the same shape as yours so I tend to go for patterns that have cup sizes and your ideas are always pertinent. This will help me get my muddled thinking so much clearer. Thank you.
Hi Whitney. Thank you for a great channel full of information and inspiration! I know it takes a lot of time to put together these fantastic videos. Encouraged to hear you speak of using basics to build a cohesive wardrobe. Looking forward to continuing to watch and learn from you and your videos.

I will totally have to do a travel wardrobe 😂.

Your nailed the explanation the why to have a cohesive wardrobe you love.
Oh good! I'm glad my words came across clearly!
Skirt: just picked up Butterick 6866 a 6 gore skirt. I haven't made it yet but I am replacing an old TNT
I prefer 6 gore because it allows for enough seam fitting and allows for better fabric uses
I rediscovered shorter skirts as an alternative to shorts a while back and have been trying to nail down a skirt pattern that will go from bread to cake to frosting.

I totally missed that on the pattern 😂. I made mine without stretch and made my normal size, but this is helpful!
Thank you for the PDF's! First, they are gorgeous! Second, they were a total game changer for me!!!!! THANK YOU!!!
This makes me so happy!!!!
Just what I need! It's so easy to be overwhelmed by patterns and fabrics, I can see this being helpful with getting started on some basic pieces.

Dutchess coat by Ellie and Mac is great dressy coat.
Love your video. Very informative
Ooh! I'll go have a look at that! Thank you!
Onward!
Aww! Thank you!

Aww! Thanks, friend!
@@kathygann7632 I’m a winter too and yep CMB too! A group of us went and it was fun. I was the only winter in the group.
@@Bready29645 All the Speech Language Therapists in my school district came to my house. It was a blast, and the excitement lasted for weeks as we each learned how to use and dress for our colors.
It is such a game changer!
This is fabulous and so exciting. I’ve just signed up for the newsletter. Thanks, Witney x

I'm so glad!
Thank you Whitney for such a useful video. So helpful for those of us who have become slightly overwhelmed by the capsule. I have only just discovered your channel and love what I have watched so far.
It is so easy to get overwhelmed by the capsule, but it really does help with overwhelm once it's in place!
Thanks! I love love love your wrap dress. I already have that fabric in my cart, waiting to figure out what to make. A wrap dress may be the winner. I too and short, 5'2, with a very large bust.
The fabric is lovely to work with and has worn great. I get compliments every time I wear this out!
Thank you, Whitney! Love your guidance, advice and info!
My pleasure!
Omg!! So exciting and fun! All signed up.
Let the organizational plans and sewing begin…
Oh good!
You know I love you and Cashmerette - It’s the Upton you’re taking about. 😊 I think I guessed 90% of your picks. Congrats on your project. You’re so awesome.
I'm so excited to try that Upton pattern. I think it's going to go the distance for me as well!

Welcome to the channel! I have plans to do more alteration type tutorials on Sundays going forward so stay tuned for those!
I just signed up for your newsletter. This is a great idea. I will definitely use it. Thank you.
Oh good!
I just signed up, I have a similar body type so I really appreciate things like fluctuating waistline and large bust. So helpful!

Thank you Whitney, this will be great. You have brought me so much positivity and acceptance of my curves since I started watching.
This is the most amazing comment! This makes me so happy!
This is such a good idea. My body is the same shape as yours so I tend to go for patterns that have cup sizes and your ideas are always pertinent. This will help me get my muddled thinking so much clearer. Thank you.
I'm so glad!
How exiting!! I already sign up for the newsletter. Thanks for all the work you put into your channel, it has helped me tremendously!
It's my pleasure!
