    I changed rear shocks to 13" Legend on my 2018 SG Special. Huge difference. Better handling, more comfort, phenomenal high speed cornering.

    I agree with you my 2019 SG was great so I traded it in on a 2020 SG with 12” bar and Rockford speakers and rdrs. We put floorboards on the back for the wife so she is happy.

    Hey man thanks for sharing your experience. I also jumped from 883 to FHLXS 2021. 100% agree absolutly amazing and reliable bike. Especially RDRS is life saving. Ride safe!

    I Put a klock werks screen on mine. Huge difference. No buffeting and a huge drop in wind noise especially when you get into higher speeds, no problem hearing the radio at three figures on the speedo

    I just picked up a 2020 Street glide special andni love everything about this bike. Traded in my 2014 Ultra Limited and I do not regret it. I am wanting to do some changes like 12 inch bars, radio but overall highly please.

    Thanks for the comments on a great bike! My bike is '20 FLHTP, similar in many areas to your's; my biggest concern is the heat I get off the primary/left side which is considerable. Don't really feel any heat discomfort on right side of the engine. Love your bike!

    • @candlstudios
      @candlstudios 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leftside? Interesting. Mine is all off the right side. I figure it's because that's where the exhaust comes off the motor. Rear cylinder being the worst of course since it's closest to your leg.

    • @HegshotRides
      @HegshotRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks brother. I'm gonna do a riding in Souther heat video and probably try the heat deflectors to see how good they do 👍

    • @bloodymarvelous4790
      @bloodymarvelous4790 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that's odd. Most heat is generated on the right hand side of the vehicle, not the left. Mid frame air deflectors might be a good option for you. Also check that EITMS is switched on. Roll your throttle forward for a few seconds with the engine turned off to turn EITMS on/off.

    • @fb510m
      @fb510m 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dont know if this makes a difference, its a 114 . It does have the air dams as standard. I do only feel the heat in the left side from ankle to mid calf area.

    I have the exact same bike in the Industrial Grey Denim. I just recently turned 11,000 miles as my wife and I took a trip to the Smokey Mountains. I would recommend going there and riding the Dragon along with all of the roads in that area. I put the 12" Yaffee bars on the bike and love them. With these bars you can still run and use your fairing mounted mirrors. Great video!

    Heard ya say you were thinking of a stage 3 or 4. I had the stage 3 put on my 19 Roadking at about 10k miles. I've been riding the he'll out of it for a little over 10k miles now. It's phenomenal. My bike dynos at 125 max horsepower and 128 max torque. I did go with a D&D Billit cat 2 into 1 pipe and my dyno guy gets the best result from the master tune tuner. The build is solid and quick. The vortex baffle on the pipe is not overly loud. It's a horsepower pipe for performance not loudness. I researched a lot on this build and I love it. My dealer says more stage 4 builds come back to the shop for repairs. I give this build a 10 outta 10.

    I love having Apple CarPlay even though I don’t have the WHIM. Using the Waze app to let me know if cops or debris is in the road gives me more confidence as a rider. Listening to my music or a streaming service provider is a huge +.

    Glad you like your bike overall. My 2017 Limited is about to roll 30k this weekend. 14" LA Chopper Twin Peaks bars and I already had a tour pak quick disconnect kit put in so I have more rear lights. The tour pak of so rarely on anyway (only when my wife wants to ride - its rare) and BAM pipes with Zombie baffles.... I love it. I'm 6'4"...
    I have had a sportster 2 days out of the infantry....2 Heritages, a road king, and 2 ultra classics in the decades before this bike. I can't see why I'd need another bike for decades to come.

    Subscribed. I have a 19 sg. I felt like the ride was quite rough..even coming from an 07 electraglide standard with air shocks...also within a week of having my new streetglide I had the slipons drag more than once. I ended up trading my low sg shocks for standard hight electraglide shocks. Made a huge difference and barely brought me up. 12 inch vs 13
    Definitely worth a try.

    I did alot of the same upgrades as you on my 2019 Sg. I didn't care for the blacked out SGS I'm a chrome guy so I stuck with the SG. If ya want the Misses to be really happy get the mini boards for her and my ole lady loves the sundowner seat especially on long rides.

    Lot's of good info on your SG! I moved to a 2020 Limited and added a tour pack quick release and SG seat for solo riding. For two-up riding I switch to the touring saddle with the tour pack for trips. My wife and I are both 70 and enjoy every mile. Also get the advantage of lowers in bad weather and dual cooling. Love those big damn Harley's!

  • @jasonbreedlove495

    All solid points. I actually traded a twin cam 103 ultra for a 2017 SGS and it rides even better. Youd think a full dresser would be the top, but I'm less fatigued on the streetglide. I went ahead and did the LED upgrades as well, and som of the same ones you did too, and yes they should come more decked out for the price point and being a middle ground loaded bagger. This M8 motor is awesome, I'm currently getting Reaper 465 cam and complete cam chest upgrade with RCX headers, this thing is gonna be even more fun. I've also got a 2018 heritage 107 Stg2 torque kit and it's just as fun and plenty comfortable. Good video dude and look forward to more. Time to finish this overseas tour and ride again!!

    Agree about the LED lights. Not only the headlight. All the lights should be LED for the money.
    Definitely gets hot. Any day over 80 degrees and you're going to really feel it at the stop lights.
    The suspension is terrible in my opinion but I get it. It's lowered, looks great. Bumpy roads are a nightmare to me though.

    Refreshing to see actual & sincere reviews for the SGS. Most SGS reviews on TH-cam are from the dealers or TH-camrs who borrow these bikes for 10 minute rides.

    • @HegshotRides
      @HegshotRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I've had some of those as well but it comes with the territory. You can't own them all so 10 to 15 minutes is all I have sometimes with other bikes but at least I can do it with the one I own 👍

    I have to give it to what I'm partial to and that's my 2019 ultra limited with a stage one. It is 60lbs heavier the yours. We ride two up a lot and take a lot of trips and that trunk comes in handy. It already has the things you had to add. Now the SGS is a fine ride no doubt.

    So I ride an EGS and am coming up on a year myself. I have a similar inseam-I cannot flat foot. I am getting the 12" progressive 944s for them. The first thing I switched, other than the seat, were the bars. I was getting severe elbow pain with the stock bars. I have 12" apes now and love them.

    I bought a 2020 SGS 2 weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it!!! Coming from a 2015 Heritage it is night and day different. Still wonder if my speedo is correct bc it doesn't feel like I'm going as fast as I am. Agree, LED lights should be stock on them for the money we spend.I put the Harley Hammock seat on mine and man is it comfortable!! Mine is Zephyr Blue/Black with Neighbor Haters. Thanks for the vids

    • @rogerward83
      @rogerward83 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Latham I bought a 2020 Street Glide at the end of May. I know my speedo is wrong. Also the odometer is adding about 6% more miles than it should. I complained to the dealer and he said he would call Harley about it. No answer as yet. 6% doesn’t sound like a lot, but do the math. It’s a bunch.

  • @jjgibson3409
    @jjgibson3409 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Street glide special needs dual adjustable rear shocks with an extra 1" travel from the factory. Like the Ohlins HD772. Adjusting one side only makes the bike torque to one side dangerously while turning or hitting bumps. LED's should be stock, and the USB should be relocated to the left side (directly opposite) where it currently is with a usb plug and cover. That frees up the front compartment completely, and you don't need the compartment door open while traveling.

    I'm 5'2" and I 100% agree how the new Street Glide Special dips in and out of turns like nothing compared to a lighter 48 HD that I own. I am for sure buying a Street Glide in the next month or two after my test ride. Still keeping my 48 just for sh*ts and giggles.

    I've got a fat Bob 114 & love it but my plan is to upgrade to a street glide special in a couple of years time, I really don't like chrome & your bike in industrial grey denim is beautiful, the only problem is all the colours since then have been awful so I'm hoping there is something similar in 2022. Great Video BTW

    Going from an 883 iron to a street glide is a big jump. One day in the future you should get yourself a soft tail. back in the day I went from a 1200 sporty to a road King. I lost the road King in the divorce, and got a dyna. I had really enjoyed the dyna, but just upgraded to a street glide. Back to the luxury cruiser. Right safe.

    Very good review on the SGS. The good and the bad. I'm coming off sportbikes (track days, full leathers all the time and pwr wheelies lol) but I just turned 55 AND got married last month and retiring nxt month. Lmao. What can I say I'm a late bloomer. So I have to get something more "adult". I'm torn between the BMW K1600B Bagger and the SGS. Its lots of money for both bikes but seems like everything with HD is extra.....
    Oh and moving down to Greenville SC 😀😀

    Went from a 2015 FatBob which I LOVED.... and upgraded to the exact same bike as yours, same paint too! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I too can’t see myself without it into the future. Umm, pretty boring comment here because I pretty much echo your Pro’s & Con’s. Our tastes must be fairly similar, because I’ve also got the WillieG decals/accessories too! 🤣 My biggest gripe is the non inclusion of the LED headlamp... it just doesn’t make sense imo? For such an expensive bike and basically all other new bikes came with the LED headlamp, it just makes no sense. At least Harley should give SG owners a subsidised purchase to upgrade to LED? Other than that, I’m stoked.

    The storage space gains of the stretched bags is minimal. The bags taper down towards the end, so that's less than if they were stretched across the entire length, and then it's only on the outside. You may be able to fit an extra swiss army knife in the bag, but that's about it. The stretch bags are 99.5% looks, and 0.5% functionality.

    Tried to buy one a couple of days ago, but Harley and the dealership recently jacked up freight & prep from around $900 (last year) to almost $2K now. On top of that, there's now an additional "market adjustment" fee of $1K. So, I put my tail between my legs and walked out on any deal. Hey Harley, we're all struggling enough as it is. Gimme a break. Phuck.

      What always amazes me is that people complain on what other people spend their money on. Harley uses one engine for all their touring bikes (well, two, no three if you count the CVO's). If you want more performance, you can buy performance parts.
      It's the same as if you're buying a Honda CBR500R, CBR650R, or CBR1000RR-R. If you want more performance, you buy a bigger bike, depending on your budget. With Harley you buy the performance parts you want, depending on your budget. The great thing about how Harley does it, is that your bike can grow with you, and you don't need to buy a different bike. Also, there are plenty of manufacturers who offer modification packages for their bikes at an extra cost. Extra bags, skid plates, frame protectors, etc. Harley just has more options (not to mention what is available on the aftermarket). You can make a Harley your own, most other manufacturers what you buy is what you get.

    I think the Street Glide is almost as good as the Road Glide! Lol I had a Street glide went to a road glide now on a 2020 road glide! But honestly the actual difference is minimal at best.cant go wrong with either!

    M8 is fine but the DNA history of the 103 is endless. If I feel I need more power than that I'll just get a motorcycle with a v8.

    Indian shocks are amazing compared to Harley touring . Feels like magic carpet over big potholes

    Your fuel mileage sucks. I have a 2018 RGS 107 m8 and usually when filled up range is 280 to 300 and I usually get 250-270. We rode from Ohio to Tenn freeway and back roads and got 278 when low fuel light came on.
