With the 12 bore with 'normal' loads ie: 30 grams of number 6 is it still quiet enough so you wouldn't need hearing protection? If it is then the silencer has done its job as far as I am concerned.
Have you tried the very light supersonic loads through the 12? I mean those 21 gramme ones? maybe they are quiet like the 20g supersonics you mentioned. If that was the case the 12 would be a good low recoil lamping gun like the 410 right?
Yes they are quiet but subs are quieter. It's not the weight of the shot, it seems; it's the speed - lazy 1200fps loads are so much quieter than fast 1500fps clay loads, for example
Nice review, however if you want a real SILENT shotgun it Has to be .410 - go for the Baikal Stealth (York Guns) just a single shot but lovely quality, great pattern and utterly silent. First time I fired it I thought I had a misfire, that's with 3" magnum which is what I use in .410 (not subsonic). I had to fire it onto a pattern plate to make sure it actually fired, I couldn't believe the cartridge had been spent when I looked. The tiny hammer click is the only thing heard. Stunning. Don't know why took me so long to find this one Richard.. keep up the good work, like all your reviews. Wish I had the time. Now I am thinking of splashing out £375 on the A-Tec A12 choke mounted 12 g mod, about the best available in the UK at present I understand?
Richard, are there any differences between standard cartridges, and Factory subsonics,,,? in moderated shotguns,,,enjoy your reviews immensley,,,Sgt L, [ Army }
1702liam Thanks mate! :) well the subs are quieter BUT the 3inch Eley 18gr .410 sub is louder than most 15gr normal supersonics, simply due to the powder bang being greater. In 20g there are again supersonic carts that are quieter than the 28gr 8 Gamebore subs, for example. So the answer to your Q is: yes in principle they are quieter, like for like. But a magnum sub is louder than a normal supersonic.
Thanks for the info. Im from the USA, researching shotgun suppressors.
This video persuaded me to buy the 20g hushpower. Thank you

If you were still interested in the a tec I have one which I am going to be selling shortly.
I would still need to get the adaptor for my Teknys but if you can let me know how much when you are ready to sell the A12... thanks@@Robinrob181191A
How do you clean the silencer out, mine has a bit of debris rattling around in it ?
Did you find this out?

If only I had the £££ for a new 20/12 hushpower, I might have to settle for a second hand .410, I'd really prefer a fullbore model.
Où acheter ces carabines
I've just bought a mossberg 500 hushpower 20g struggling to find a gun bag to fit any ideas mate?
yes me too mate. I take mine down and carry it in a padded rifle case
Would you say the .410 is quieter than a air rifle or the same ?
It's louder than an air rifle.
I don’t understand why we don’t have these in the States!?
Hammerite on the barrel though... bubba no
lol yeah. all nicely sorted now though (see cerakote video) - they deserved it
