Mel…. Thank you…. Mel…. I lost my mom, to Frontal lobe dementia, she died at 62, 14 years ago… it changed me, forever.. I am an only child… I have lived differently, since she passed, I appreciate everything… and I live like you shared at the end of this video.. also I love your videos, and dream of meeting you one day! Just in this first dialogue, I recall putting my stress on a diet two and a half years ago, because I could not figure out anything else that was creating, as stated, a belly. Yup, changed what I was doing at work, started some calm stretch and breathing exercises and sure enough, got that belly under control. Of course, I still really have to pay attention to my stress levels, because at 66 years young, it takes no time at all to head for my belly. I normally weigh 125 to 126 and am 5'7", small frame and work on my feet all day, so I can really tell when my belly says, 'Hey', what's going on up in your brain(mind). Thank you for somebody taking time to tell the rest of the world.
I am a massage therapist and i get many clients who are vulnerable with me enough to share their struggles, and when they ask who i turn to for guidance, i mention you Mel!! I say you are authentic, a joy to watch and you always have science/experts to back up what you say!! Thank you for all that you are! Ive followed you since your Ted Talk and you are an intriguel part of my life. You have enouraged me to make a difference in my life and i have so much more peace and understanding of myself than i ever have. Thank you again.
The stress thing is completely true. I have a new person that started on my team that is a very high anxiety, nervous, paranoid, talks super fast person. Just hearing him talk in a meeting or being around him seems to suddenly raise my stress. And if I have to socialize with him it makes it so much worse. And the job isn't stressful at all, it's just the kind of person he is. Really hard to be around that. Also, women's issues like PCOS and Insulin Resistance also cause high cortisol levels, which means weight gain.
This video was an answered prayer. I have been overwhelmed and feeling like I need to make changes. While exploring your channel to find motivation, I was having a hard time deciding on where to start when the notification for this video's release popped up. Thank you Mel.

I’m so low. Broken my shoulder in October and although I was positive I’d recover, I miss the active happy gym bunny I was. Then I got a virus Christmas Day & have felt blah ever since. I feel old & tired. I’m 43 but don’t feel like me anymore. I can’t lift weights which helps me destress therefore am not the happy mum/wife who is strong and productive 😢I’ve lost me. Hope 2025 is better ❤❤❤❤

What a great show. I learned so much, or rather realized that so much of what I think I know is actually true. Being close to nature and not borrowing stress keeps you healthy, mentally and physically. We have to forgive ourselves and others, we have to love ourselves and others, we have to care more about following our hearts than what other think of us. The only opinions that matter our our own happiness with ourselves and how our children and grandchildren and others we were there for remember us, because that's all that will remain of us in the future, when we are gone.
I'm amazed to see Dr Thema Bryant isn't on this list. After listening to her on your podcast, I delved deeper and found her Homecoming podcast, this wonderful lady changed my life ❤
