    You uploaded this TWO years ago, I just wanted to say I have watched you like you're Dom Toretto. I'm currently at the 1:25:47 mark. Just thought you deserve a MASSIVE thank you and well done. This truly is an absolute brilliant video. The fact it's 2:15:16 in total, the extra time it must have taken to fuss around with the cameras and some of the lighting. Just wanted to give you a big shout out from England, UK from a new MX5 ND owner, who is now going to subscribe. Brilliant, just brilliant!

    Great job. Although taking off the transmission to a Mazda CX-5 is different, way different - this helped when it came to replacing the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing. Same steps - but the toroque specs - I followed the owners manual for the CX-5. Thank you for helping the world with their vehicles. I don't know what I would do without your video.

    Thorough clutch job. Really took time to explain the details which many will not do. Also why to put the grease where you did & not in others. Nice to have all those tools helping to do it right. Awesome Jonathan ! 😎

    Nice! From all the videos about clutch replacement this is the cleanest!
    Do you thing an automatic RF could be swapped with a manual transmission without pain? Its just a curiosity.
    I recently bought mi first Miata, a ND 2019 in México. The passenger airbags lights are not showing, so just dissasembled the indicator and I found no leds are installed. First project is to install those leds or replace the board. But I cannot find schematics or anything usefull. Can you point me where can I find Miata schematics, please?

    Replaced my flywheel and clutch recently, (not DIY though) my mechanic didn't use torque wrench with specific torques that I told him according to your video, to tighten flywheel and clutch plate. Should this be a concern? Could this damage new flywheel or clutch?

    Great video! Does anyone know how i can remove the clutch release bearing sleeve that the bearing sits on? trying to replace my version 1 with a version 5 and the website i bought from tells me i need to swap them out for it to work in my ND1

    • @jonathanjovenal
      @jonathanjovenal  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It should just be 6 bolts that hold the clutch release bearing shaft cover on. Refer to part number: PE33-16-220.

  • @CrossKnight
    @CrossKnight ปีที่แล้ว

    What's the ballpark cost for the clutch replacement you charge your customers? just bought a 2019 and it seems it needs a new throw out bearing so might as well get the clutch done too. Previous owned must've hooned it a lot.

    Thanks a TON for the video! One question: I didn't see you align the PPF??? The FSM shows there is a measurement from the underside chassis brasses to the PPF.

    • @jonathanjovenal
      @jonathanjovenal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Benjamin, glad the video was helpful! During this repair the nuts that fasten the brace to the transmission left a blemish where there were previously installed. I simply matched the position where the nuts were previously installed upon assembly. It is also not adjustable where the brace mounts to the rear differential. At approximately 1:40:00 into the video, you can see that I verify the position of the nuts prior to tightening them down.

    I have the exact same car and year, but bought it new (leftover model year) during the outbreak of the pandemic in April, 2020, and now has over 15,000 miles only due to the pandemic, work from home or retired, and just a weekend car! 🙂

      I’ve done it on two transmissions and trust me you’ll hear it lol. The clutch will go in and out fine but when you try to change gears you will feel the bits locking up random gears it is very easy to tell

    Hi, I have a 2019 Miata with a manual transmission, I bought it with 10,000 miles so fairly new, I suspect that the clutch (possibly the clutch disc) was replaced, I’ve driven a 2016 and a 2018 and they both feel the same and mine feels bouncy, it’s really hard to make a smooth shift and it jerks a lot if you’re not careful releasing the pedal, other than that it works just fine but I can’t help to notice and it honestly annoys me, for what I’m seeing here, the OEM clutch disc is unsprung(?) so I’m guessing my car has a clutch disc with springs and that’s making it do all that stuff, can I please have your opinion? Great video, just what I was looking for.

    • @jonathanjovenal
      @jonathanjovenal  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@AdrianAndreCano Thank you for watching bro! Your clutch pedal master cylinder push rod may need to be adjusted. I have driven cars with clutch pedals adjusted to where the engagement point is so high that it jerks going into first and between gears. Even though you slowly release the clutch, it would jerk because it engages very late and high in the pedal travel which is not normal. I’d take a look at your clutch master cylinder push rod adjustment. Sprung clutches are meant to help prevent and absorb jerking.

    Next time you do one again take of the two motor mount bolts jack up to engine push engine to the left remove the exhaust manifold it will make it easier to drop and when you are under about to take it out use your pole jack with a peace of wood and jack it up a few inches witch will make it easier to turn the transmission and drop it

    So my clutch lever has been getting stuck half way when driving fast and shifting, and I have to sometimes drag it back into place with my foot while driving and it's super sketchy, do you think my clutch is dying or am I just bad at shifting? 2016 with 69k miles.

    very sad to see this beautiful machine need a new clutch at 8000 miles . thats called abuse to a car . i have a 2019 nd2 38700 miles runs perfect . i guess people dont realize that the harder your run these little gearboxes the faster they wear out . i had a 2009 bmw 328 coupe 6 speed manual 180,000 miles , same clutch , brakes , rotor and pads . anyway . nice to see this nd2 is in good hands now .
