Planning (Plan week on Sunday): 1. Brain dump every task you need to complete in the week 2. Separate these into P0, P1, P2, and dependent - P0 is the biggest priority and P2 the least while dependent are tasks that you can’t do anything about right now and need to wait in order to complete 3. Schedule days and or times to complete each task
I actualy really like that she starts at P0 it sounds a lot more like those are essental tasks that need to get done where as p1 is the things you prioritize the most
I took notes and it made me realize just how outstanding this video advice was. Sharing the notes here, I hope you don't mind. [She usually plans her upcoming week Sundays around 5:30PM. She likes this system that works for her because it has simplicity and flexibility.] 1. Brain Dump. Dump all thoughts in head on paper. Doesn't even have to be a task. 2. Go through List. Cross off things that are not actionable and things you know you won't do this week. 3. Organize everything left into 4 Different Categories. P0, P1, P2, Dependent. P0 is highest priority - for those most important and urgent. 4. Two Minute Rule. Highlight everything that can be done in 2 minutes or less. Go do them now. This is an anti-procrastination habit. 5. Write down Day you will do the things on the list. For things you generally know when you will do them, write down the day next to them. This gives you an idea how your week will look. Schedule the day as they come. No need to schedule them in the daily planner until the day approaches as schedules shift. 6. Pre-plan outfits on Sunday nights, even if just having socks pre-planned or whatever drives you nuts to find in the morning. 7. Plan the day's schedule the night before or the morning of. a) Block out chunks of time for meetings, appointments and time-bound activities b) Put two P0 items at the top of your day (or 1 item but she prefers two items, one work related, one non-work related). Shedule these 2 P0 things as early as possible. TIPS: 1. Things always take longer than anticipated. 1.5 to 2 times longer. 2. Schedule time to context switch. She blocks in 30 minutes when switching tasks. 3. Schedule in breaks and time to eat. Be intentional and honest about your scheduling. 4. Things happen. Be ready to shift your schedule. See your plan as a Living Document. Important thing is you still have the rest of the day to use the time as you see fit and you can reprioritize items as needed as your day's schedule shifts. Try this and with time you will get better at planning and being more honest with yourself as you plan. And an added benefit is you will start noticing what works for you better and understand yourself better. :)
From experiment with several planning strategies, methods, and mediums, I can say with sincere certainty that every single thing you mentioned is important and helpful. The biggest thing is, as you mentioned, understand yourself; how you thing, your flow states, your awareness of time, etc. and then cultivating a system that feels right for you. This is definitely try and error so being able to track what works and what doesn't is key each week. I will definitely implement a lot of your strategies to my own planning routine! Great content!!! Keep it up!
tbh is you plan everything on paper that's less you have to think about and more you can focus on doing and its a bit of a motivator too thenits just discipline and then it adds up fast.
I love how you keep the strategy simple so easy to implement and update, and then add more specificity only when it applies at a psychological/physiological level (like context switching time and scheduling important stuff when your brain is most clear). This seems like the most agile and efficient way to plan and work. I can't wait to try it.
I'm creating positive baseline habits for myself and planning my week is one of them because I have quite a lot of objectives and goals for my life I definitely relate to giving up and doing nothing for the rest of the day or even month because I feel like I have no control of my time I've been planning and now I'm showing up.
Just started to learn about the idea of planning the year, months, weeks AND days. Always did it at a day level or thought of "long term" but never capturing the important dates ahead of time. I found that I never take time off from work because by the time I realized that something important was coming up, I was too busy in the day to day focus to really think about what I might want to do. As a result, I never really took time off from work. Although it is refreshing. Anyways, that idea of planning at the year, month, week and day level is a result of the training I am going through. Training to become a military recruiter that is. Seems like awesome stuff and a very refreshing perspective to look at things from an experienced recruiter and awesome instructor. Having someone show you that you CAN do it and it IS NOT crazy... to include that strong proven systems exist for these things... It is awesome. Leading by example! Appreciate your video for sure. Planning by the week seems awesome. I like that you mentioned flexibility too. Just being aware and accounting for that is good stuff honestly. Along with learning yourself more and more as a result of tracking how you execute your tasks.
Tina, I don’t know why you do what you do, but clearly you have passion for it. But, I just tried this method this morning and it worked beautifully! I thank the universe I found you. Keep it going. You’re doing the world a favor!
oh my god i feel so recognized and heard in this video. i’ve always always gave up on planners because i seem to work fine without them, that is until i started working, hanging out with friends, having summer homework, volunteering, college apps, etc. i was always so afraid of forgetting something, because it was a valid fear. even when i was a child i’d forget my homework almost every day in elementary school 😭 i forget small details and tasks very easily and these deadlines i miss can really screw up my grades. thank you for this video, i will see if this technique can help me
Hello! I have watched several of your videos and I applaud you for having such a fantastic work ethic and a strong sense of determination. I’ve sent your videos to some young girls in my community because I feel like you’re a good role model for them. Thank you for being you!
Nice easy read and has a lot of gems! I go back to it from time to time as well trying to pick up more from it because there’s so much packed in there :)
I loved this video Tina! It was really useful and it inspires me not to give up during the last 2 months of the year (usually, the end of the year is really difficult for me as I have already lost momentum). so THANK YOU
the thing about pre planning the week in the brain dump is the best thing that i heard. i used to pre plan it in my actual weekly planner, but then something would happen in that specific day and i would not do what was planned and it annoyed me so much i'd just give up on planning in the next week. your videos are life savers, tina!! keep the good work!
I cannot believe I’m just finding this channel. Tina, I love youuuuuu! I’ve struggled for so long with organizing my days. I’m officially your student/mentee. Thank you for sharing your growth journey with us.
My software engineering BS has been hard for me mostly because of the planning and procrastination, not the actual coursework itself, and I'm trying to fix that so I really appreciate your wisdom!
I've been binge watching your videos but this video was beyond helpful for me. I've spent the last 2 months feeling awful and stressed about using notion it's just soo overwhelming but I loooved your simple approach. Thanks!!
Thank you! I'm actively trying to change my mindset to track my study time and also eliminate these tendencies that you describe. This is very helpful.
"if things don't go according to plan just give up" - changing this behaviour is a real game changer. This happens when trying to do everything perfect ...and the enemy of good is perfect. Also took me quite some time to change that :)
Great stuff. This seems like shorter term day to day planning, but it reminded me of something I've thought about when it comes to goals and longer term planning. Having a plan it's not about following it. It's about having a plan. A plan roots you. It's what you have decided you are about. It's the thing you deviate from. If you don't have a plan then you don't know if you are deviating way too often, and need to take a look in the mirror and decide if you need to change your goals or make moves to stay more committed. If all you have are vague thoughts instead of a written plan you will often feel like you are wobbling too much. If you have a written plan then you haven't actually changed your plans unless you bother writing the change in. This prevents you from having any stray idea be a 'change in the plan'. Only when you are committed enough *to bother to write the change* have you actually made a change. This would at most swing back and forth a few times until you settle on something you keep coming back to.
What I do is I follow a template for my day. It goes along the lines of 8:30-10:30am work, 10:30-12pm workout + breakfast, 12-2pm work, 2pm-.. rest, then work and so on.. Hours are the same everyday, but what in particular goes under work is flexible and depends.
Thank you very much tina for those tips ! I feel like i needed to hear that it is okay when sth goes wrong because first we need to learn about ourselves to understand how we work . Excellent job !!
I just added the productivity project to my amazon cart. Your videos are always super helpful even though I don't relate to you in some ways, like I can't take your advice about failing to disappoint others because I don't feel the way you do about it, but I can totally take your strategy (using something to tie a new habit to, like you did with your fear of letting other people down).
I was looking for a planning method for back to school and no video worked for me But yours was the best and there is no need for me to search for other videos also thanku sis
Tina, your organization is amazing and gave me many new ideas! I wasn't used to put every task on Google Calendar and it totally makes sense. Thank you for sharing!
First I wanted to say you are amazing! Your videos give me THE BEST ideas. I organise my week using a bullet journal. Since September I have been trying a new system so up till now i scheduled the day before for the next day and had some monthly goals to work on. That didn't work too well and now for November, thanks to you, I will try to see if the brain dump works best! I don't know how I didn't think to incorporate it, since I have stress disorder, and thinking about to-dos is the arch nemesis of my productivity. Thank you Tina

a year and a half since i first watched this video, and I'm currently heavily modifying this, but I must say on my initial run through of it it really did just work. good stuff, maybe I'll run into you someday and show you the modified hodge podge version :p
Man I wish I had found these planning strategies when I was younger, I had such a hard time keeping up with schedules and planning anything. Thanks for sharing these tips, I will be trying them out for a bit, I think with my little demon toddler I’m going to have to put alooooot of context switching time lol
Nice video. Whenever I think of planning my week. I think of J types in MBTI lol. I'm more a P type. However, I find note-planners like obsidian useful at times.
Hmm I really like the brain dump method .. I might add tasks to my scoreboards and cross them like you showed us. I'll start with four hours of anime :3 ( loved the outro btw )
I kind of had an epiphany recently that i really *really* need to reorganize and get my stuff together and this video came at the right time. Thank you so much tina 🥲
I’m exactly that person who gives up for the rest of the day when things dont go according to plan. And this is just happening now!! But after watching this vid, I’m going to reschedule my day now! 😛 thanks tina for a great content (as alwaysss) ❤️
i set a bunch of goals get started then get distracted then around 3pm i give up. The road to Hell really is paved with good intentions Ive noticed. I'm way older than you and for the umpteenth time, attempting to reboot my life for the sake of my kiddos not really so much for me. I want to be able to support not only myself as a single person but my kids & their kids etc. Just a place to root down that is big enough to house everyone comfortably that is under my control so i can keep it safe n' sane. That is my dream and watching and learning from you is part of my journey apparently; nothing happens by accident :) So thank you very much and yeah just wanted to share that with you and your audience. You should consider teaching or starting your own tech company that hires exclusively under-privileged/under-educated women (many of whom cannot afford a reliable vehicle) who will never survive if they aren't able to develop the skills relevant to the foreseeable demands of our society.
Finally, a video that doesn't focus on productivity apps and instead of just sharing a strategy also offers resources to build our own. Thank you!

My thoughts exactly
Yup exactly 😂
Just when I think I have my life organized, I watch your videos and realize there is such a better way of organizing my days 😭

There's always a better way to do something.

time blocking is pretty nice :)
*one thing on the schedule doesn't work out*
*completely gives up on everything else*
I've never felt so understood in my life
Awesome and useful content!! 😍 I just discovered your channel and now you already have one new subscriber 🤓 Keep it going!🔥
Your categories, have you thought of using a kanban? And you can move them all to "done". It's much easier than the Matrix Method.
I love these videos, really practical advice! thanks

Sunday at 5 is usually when I am recovering from the weekend not planning my week, I need to be more like you LOL
Love your hairstyle. The bow really suits you. ^___^
Thank you for sharing your strategies with us. (:
I’m exactly that person who gives up for the rest of the day when things dont go according to plan. And this is just happening now!! But after watching this vid, I’m going to reschedule my day now! 😛 thanks tina for a great content (as alwaysss) ❤️
This is amazing!!
i set a bunch of goals get started then get distracted then around 3pm i give up.
Thanks for sharing this! I will check out the books and explore the note app!
Your system is great, thanks for sharing :)
The lighting is much better in this video.
