For me focusing on 1 thing each day, just showing up, the idea that I would be disappointed to die knowing that my life was a joke (i.e. I wasted my life on nothing) pushes me to give 100% to want I want to learn/achieve and yes some days it feels really hard to focus so I need to "get out of my head" by cooking, taking a shower or listen to music. Thanks for sharing your story. I have the book actually, and set it aside several avoidance cycles ago. Feeling motivated to pick it up again
The shower part is so true. For me, the heat in my body somehow keeps me comfortable AND sleepy that I become lazy. It's something I've been trying to fix by taking daily showers (which is ok since I live in a tropical country anyway). I still slip up sometimes but I'm doing so much better compared to back then.
Hey Tina! This is not a diagnosis or anything, but what you do sounds a lot like me and I just got diagnosed with ADHD (the inattentive type) a couple of months ago at 36 years old. I suggest that you try to check with an expert on this because if it's true, calling yourself lazy is just hurting you. By the way, the reason why women in average are just diagnosed between 36 and 39 years old is because: 1. We're not usually the hyperactive type, but we can be hyperactive with our minds or speech 2. ADHD is genetic, so we grow with other family members who did things like we do so we think it's normal (i.e. in my family, arriving 1h late to a dinner is normal) 3. We learn a ton of techniques to help us function (like the ones you mentioned here which worked for me until they stopped working again), but we still do a ton of effort to be able to manage our personal and professional while wanting to be good family members, friends and partner(s), but after so much effort, it's in the mid thirties that we just can't do it anymore. It's such a big effort and we just end up super anxious or depressed (that we later find out it's low dopamine from ADHD). Before I wrap up, I want to say that ADHD has the poorest name ever, we don't have attention deficit. We have an attention dysregulation, because when deadlines hit or for any other reason like gamification, we go into hyperfocus and do stuff way faster than anyone else. Or we hyperfocus on things that we love and learn a ton of stuff. I suggest you check Connor DeWolfe Tik Tok or How To ADHD to see if you can relate. 🙏
I tend to succumb to the laziness quite often due to stressors and feeling constantly overwhelmed. Thanks for the tips. On my good days, I tend to try some of these: Focus on one thing, Eat the frog and Just show up. I have found that just showing up, even on my bad/emotional days makes me more motivated to do something. Just getting up, putting in the effort to look decent and rocking up to work helped. Since I'm already there, might as well do something, you know. And that something must be done in the morning while I'm still feeling motivated. And if I can do 1 thing, I've accomplished something rather than nothing. I am interested in trying the Input based goals. I often find that I have all the intention and think about things I want to do, but I seriously lack in the execution. I start things I never finish, I plan things I never get around to doing. Making it seem small and hopefully effortless might spur that motivation back, if only temporarily but hopefully long enough to get something done! The dying thing sounds scary, but that fear can hopefully motivate me as much as my fear of failure does haha (the irony >_
I really do respect how manage the whole chaos. I also have a job, studying in college and highly energetic cat who doesn't let me work at all. Everything is my home is really messed up. You being yourself is a motivation to me.
recent college grad here & 2mins into the video I was already thinking “wow I wish I knew this 4 years ago” 😭😭 we’re all still learning tho!! thank u for these tips ❤️❤️
Okay but that 10 mins thing to start an essay is A LIFE SAVER! As an English studies student, I'm required to write a whole lot of essays on regular basis, and I keep stressing over writing the whole thing and what exactly am I gonna write until the deadline approaches, but once I write a paragraph or so, I find that everything just falls into place and I wonder why haven't I done that earlier.
My strategy sometimes is to use a stopwatch and start with a 5 minute break. After that 5 minute break, I have to do work for 10 minutes, followed by another 5 minute break, until I can get up to 15 minutes or just a general rhythm.
Love these! I'm currently using a lot of them to keep myself on track, I've found the "one thing" and "just try" really helpful. I approach just try as "just effing do something" which I think is a Mark Manson thing (maybe), but it's been super helpful to get me through some stuff I was procrastinating hard on. I also like the hack of making something a part of your identify. I routinely tell myself "I'm a person who has discipline", then I go do the hard thing (workout, study, clean, whatever) over time it's slowly crept into being a part of who I see myself as, this tip was something I picked up from Struthless, another TH-camr, and it's worked wonders for me. Love this video, am definitely going to incorporate the "seeing who I could have been" tip in. I feel it'll be a killer motivator for some of the things I'm a bit fearful to pursue. Thanks for the amazing content 💜
I deleted FB off of my phone. I was spending way too much time on it when I could have used it for studying or other positive ways to advance myself. With my agenda/planner, I only limit it to importance and no longer adding everything that needs to be done that day because I got so overwhelmed. Thank you!💫💫
For me what keeps me on track with repetitive things like working out, studying languages is to have unclear deadlines - when you have to be ready at any possible given moment to do the thing, you can't procrastinate studying/practicing the thing.
That thing about Social media and news is good because one could go down the rabbit trial and wind up spending too much time. I found myself doing that and when I woke up realizing that I was in fact wasting time and spending my life on things that just don't matter because too many other things matter more and there are people who are very involved in bringing change to those other things. I went on with my life and started being productive again.
This video has helped me so much. Probably more than any other productivity video I've seen because it's so realistic. Its relieving to know I'm not the only one who has struggled with this before
I once had a vision of myself as the person I wanted to be. And it invigorated me. But I'm lazy so it dient last. But seeing the person you could have been after you died really connected with me. I want to look back on the life I've done and did and been the person I wanted to be. Scrolling through social media takes a lot of time from your life that could be productive
Wow. I feel like I have made all these mistakes before and all the time . I try so hard to be productive on my goals and I inevitably find some way to distract myself or not be accountable to myself . It’s so frustrating and depressing and like you said it’s not from not trying . I’m so envious of people that don’t have this problem or are able to overcome it
I don't know what kind of witch you are but I've just watched 3 minutes of this video and then I had this sudden urge to get up and start doing something. thanks a lot 💕
That “show up” advice really work because I’ve never stay at a job this long. I thought about everything I literally do there isn’t a big deal, I just don’t like leaving the house 🤣so I tell myself, I’ll have time to rest. Everyday goes by fast when I work or I’ll be less stressful. Then on my days off I set a goals on what I’ll be doing on my days off. I do that with my money too. I’ll write out my plans with how I’ll spend my money because I noticed I’ll spend because I didn’t know what to do with it 🤣 the habits overtime becomes a natural thing. I’ve been working at my job almost a year now like I would’ve been found a different job 🤣but I appreciate the convenience and it’s not hard. I really be in my head and I’ll overwhelmed myself. I love these advice, I naturally do them now
Love that quote from atomic habits. That book also changed my life (and still does). Another book that is in the same vein at least for entrepreneurs is “the e myth” really changed my mindset of building systems.
I normally do not subscribe for a channel based on one video. However, when you started talking about input-based goals, “do 1 thing per day (with 14 optional things if we want) rather trying to do 15 pre-planned things”, compounding progress, and Memento Mori (the idea that we could die at any time and meet the person we could have been), I had to sign-up immediately. The advice you gave was not just “just try harder!!”, which was not always helpful advice with me in the past. Thank you so much!
I have similar struggles. I love my bed, love smoking j’s in my bed and watching TH-cam/movies/ scrolling. Lately though, I have just been making myself do one productive thing a day instead of making ridiculous day plans. Almost always that one thing turns into three things because I get on a roll and can’t stop. Now, I’m genuinely looking forward to finishing a project tomorrow that I didn’t have time to finish today. Slowly my space is getting cleaner and more organized and it’s making me happier 🥹
Self suggestion has worked for me. It’s a mix of that and trying to be as positive as possible. I go to sleep tired but happy because I did my best every day, and that’s as much effort as I can give. It’s a sort of peace of mind c:
I love this video, especially the part where she says "whatever I did, after a few days I would end up in that default state again." This sounds so much like me and probably so much like millions of other people. It is just human ! Lovely video, Tina. Well done mate. You look ever so sweet lying down and gulping down those pringles because from that angle of the camera, you look almost like a different person...almost like a Mongolian girl. How pretty !
TBH i found this video sitting in my default mode. I Just finished some work but couldnt bring myself to make myself some food. I just decided to eat something easy, I ate a cup of Ramen now my brain feels better. I think having something quick to eat in the morning that you really like is so helpful. You need something to wake up your brain and if you eat something you dont like I think it will just make you more anxious
This really resonates with me, as I am in a very similar place in my life, with exactly the same struggles and thought processes about them. I am even half way through the Atomic Habits right now, lol. Thank you for the video, this definitely gave me a few tips that I havent considered before. Also good to know youtube is not just full of super productive people, but a normal human being like me :)
Ikr, most studytubes are like those straight A students in my class… it just doesn’t resonate with me. I’m in the middle of my graduate program rn… and I have so many assignments. This video is actually kinda helpful
I'm giving up on social medias and that helped me a lot to get time, now I need the focus to get things done. Next step is looking less to my smartphone (yes, even without any social media installed I still spend a lot of time on it... games). First thing I do in the morning is prepare my coffee, and then I go play.. oh well, i'll change that
These are fantastic hacks, even for those of us with ADHD. The best tips are showing up consistently even for five minutes and focusing on one or two daily goals. Love!
this videos was really helpful, the tips about doing a little things at first really are important because that really just sets the path to do what you need to do
so, the 2nd tip is actually called a daily highlight. its the ones thing if you got done it would be enough you can also use the 5 min rule where you do it for 5-10 min and usually you will want to keep going
Wow, I really loved every second of this video. Those are the mistakes I usually make, which make me fall behind my schedule. These are great tips and in addition, having some rewards like watching an episode of a series I love for each hour of study is so helpful for someone like me who cant push me to study for more than 2-3 hours a day. Anyways, thank you for the good tips!
this video motivated me and got me thinking that i am lazy and i need to work on myself but my brain convinced me that laziness is fun and i trusted it
One thing i love doing is using the online timer videos. They have like 12 hr ones and the order is to complete one hour of studying and then take a ten minute break. I used to burn myself out and complete as much assignments as possible but then I'd get super lazy. I also do like a workout before i do any assignments. I use the 30 day challenge app. After i accomplish that, i feel like it creates a chain of productivity. Hope this helps ✌️😁
I'm also reading atomic habits right now!!!! Coding is really painful (I want to quit my software engineering job). I think the mindset shift could be really valuable here.
@@itiscinnamoncafe Oh that's a good idea, I honestly should do that. Are you asking your manager/team for study resources or just finding them on your own?
@@browntechdaddy I'm not asking my manager and I would suggest you do the same,(until and unless you are sure he has become your "mentor" ) reason being that would form preconceived notions about you. Really appreciated the warning, I have a friend who is extremely active/productive and it’s hard not to worry about her, like I make sure to ask how much sleep she is getting cause I know it not her priority. I might try the activity log, seems a good way to remind myself of the things I say I want to do but never really get done
Wow, how come I discover You so late in my life! You are THE machine! in a good way. I just can't comprehend that someone is so disciplined compared to all the people I know who basically are floating without a sail in the sea. I aspire to be like You!, 1% at a time.
AMAZING video ! thank you so much for sharing. Too many times i have seen videos about productivity and how to get into a flow, however they start to explain what productivity is and how it's helpful. I love how your video breaks down examples and helpful "how to's". Smooth vibe very informative.
I usually can't relate to the pretty much most of the other content on the same topic, but I found what you presented really clicked' with me. Especially the part about the "fake" deadlines not working, and genuinely putting yourself in a situation where the things just need to be done. Also, the no social media and news thing also makes a lot of sense. Thanks! I rarely subscribe to youtube channels, and most definitely not after watching just one video
The cold shower reset works great! Sometimes the hard part is realizing you've already been banging your head against a wall for an hour... Ty for the content!
I would say your environment as of literally your house your room and people around you does make a big impact if you live in a cluttered dirty place it will just bring you down and demotivate you. Also knowing you only have limited amount of time on earth does motivate me too, it actually makes me more friendly and kind to people and push me to enjoy life more.
By the way, the reason why women in average are just diagnosed between 36 and 39 years old is because:
1. We're not usually the hyperactive type, but we can be hyperactive with our minds or speech
2. ADHD is genetic, so we grow with other family members who did things like we do so we think it's normal (i.e. in my family, arriving 1h late to a dinner is normal)
ADHD is the greatest excuse and fake disease ever created by man
@@d.jmamba7237 are you a trained mental health professional or perhaps, a neuroscientist?
I should start a channel like yours - you've made a fantastic progress!
I tend to succumb to the laziness quite often due to stressors and feeling constantly overwhelmed. Thanks for the tips.
On my good days, I tend to try some of these:
Focus on one thing, Eat the frog and Just show up.
First of all, that first sentence is so relatable. Also, I got the “eat the frog” reference 😁
I really do respect how manage the whole chaos. I also have a job, studying in college and highly energetic cat who doesn't let me work at all. Everything is my home is really messed up. You being yourself is a motivation to me.
I agree! Creating an environment that motivates you is a key for you to live full out.
recent college grad here & 2mins into the video I was already thinking “wow I wish I knew this 4 years ago” 😭😭 we’re all still learning tho!! thank u for these tips ❤️❤️
*Five years in the future: Tina's apartment is now a jungle with 5000 plants and 20 cats
And don't forget her habit of stress crafting 👀 she'll probably build a house by then, I mean she already has a tent ⛺
@Gustav Gamer Hey Gustav, can you elaborate on this by any chance? Always looking for useful feedback. ♥
omg, you probably just saved my life right there. I always feel like all those efficient people are just energetic by their nature
I deleted FB off of my phone. I was spending way too much time on it when I could have used it for studying or other positive ways to advance myself. With my agenda/planner, I only limit it to importance and no longer adding everything that needs to be done that day because I got so overwhelmed.
Thank you!💫💫
Instructions were unclear, I ate a frog and unlocked Gamabunta.
For me what keeps me on track with repetitive things like working out, studying languages is to have unclear deadlines - when you have to be ready at any possible given moment to do the thing, you can't procrastinate studying/practicing the thing.
The fact that you have "make community stronger" listed first on your business goals is very inspiring and respectable. 🙏
I’m so envious of people that don’t have this problem or are able to overcome it
The setting a low bar is one thing that has helped me so much in life. Especially with studying.
1:30 lol same 😂😂
I don't know what kind of witch you are but I've just watched 3 minutes of this video and then I had this sudden urge to get up and start doing something. thanks a lot 💕
I love these advice, I naturally do them now
the theory where you meet the person you could've been really made me think, thank you for that !
Ok but that one about meeting the person you could’ve been when u die made my jaw drop😭
Love that quote from atomic habits. That book also changed my life (and still does). Another book that is in the same vein at least for entrepreneurs is “the e myth” really changed my mindset of building systems.
Have read this! It’s super valuable! Would also recommend content inc
@@TinaHuang1 added to my reading queue! thx

Having a schedule is what has made me more productive. If I do not have a schedule at play, my life is a bit chaotic, and I don't get much done
Love your hacks, Tina!! Your videos are so relatable and practical in my life!!!!
Self suggestion has worked for me. It’s a mix of that and trying to be as positive as possible. I go to sleep tired but happy because I did my best every day, and that’s as much effort as I can give. It’s a sort of peace of mind c:
One of the most practical and useful videos I've watched in youtube thank youq
This is brilliant - I’m so grateful. You’re a great and honest woman and I appreciate it. Smash it sis x
Next step is looking less to my smartphone (yes, even without any social media installed I still spend a lot of time on it... games). First thing I do in the morning is prepare my coffee, and then I go play.. oh well, i'll change that
This is gold. Thank you Tina!!
Quality! I didn't know your channel before seeing this video on my suggestions and now I feel I've found my spirit guide. I'm hitting subscribe NOW.
This video is just woow . These all steps are so practical. My brain has started to think in a new way . Thank you Tina ❤️
These are fantastic hacks, even for those of us with ADHD. The best tips are showing up consistently even for five minutes and focusing on one or two daily goals. Love!
This is one the most realistic vidoes for someone who struggles with getting work done !
I agree! Social media is poison!
Loved the background omg!!!!
wow this video is so relatable. Thanks for making this !
My student's presentation centered around ur video. Thank you ❤
So real. Thanks . this was reflective.
This is currently my life...am glad i found your video
this videos was really helpful, the tips about doing a little things at first really are important because that really just sets the path to do what you need to do
2:52 this happen to me every single day🥺tq saved my life
ahhh i do that too what u said at 3:16 - if i fail at one stuff , i will stop doing it for rest of the day and will "start" from nxt day
Thank you Tina 🥰🌻
so, the 2nd tip is actually called a daily highlight. its the ones thing if you got done it would be enough
you can also use the 5 min rule where you do it for 5-10 min and usually you will want to keep going
Thanks for making this video. So helpful. And you are NOT alone. Also I love how you keep the sponsor till near the end. Thanks
Love this video so much. Super interesting to hear your experience changing your environment and learning in public to motivate yourself.
I’ve been trying all these methods (except the live study sessions on twitch) without even knowing I was doing them!
this video motivated me and got me thinking that i am lazy and i need to work on myself but my brain convinced me that laziness is fun and i trusted it
One thing i love doing is using the online timer videos.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us ❤️
omg ily tysmm it inspired me a lot to get out of my study slump 🥺✨ keep up the great work!! 💕
I'm also reading atomic habits right now!!!! Coding is really painful (I want to quit my software engineering job). I think the mindset shift could be really valuable here.
y is it painful?
@@traderqz8298 I'm not good at it, so it takes me hours to debug an issue that takes others minutes
@@browntechdaddy hey, I'm facing the literal same issue in my SDE internship, and I have decided to study outside my work time.
Instead, ask your other peers who are at the same level as you. I'm doing side projects of the same language/tech stack that would be used at work, and that has significantly improved my experience. I'm finding my own resources and TH-cam has been very helpful.
Hi! I have recently being diagnosed with adhd and everything you do really resonates with me.(I am also a woman around your age) I think that another thing that could help you, even if you dont have it would be to read more/get more information about it 💜
I love you and your naruto references. I'm working a lot to get more disciplined and having my routines in check together with all the things I wanna do, and you give really good advice and pointers in such short time. Let's Shinra Tensei all distractions and bad habits

OMG! I just got that book! Thanks so much for the video
So relatable thank you for saying it as it is
ILY! 😍 Thank you for telling me what I already know but don't want to believe because I said it!
Thanks a lot for this video , keep up the good work ❤
Really appreciated the warning, I have a friend who is extremely active/productive and it’s hard not to worry about her, like I make sure to ask how much sleep she is getting cause I know it not her priority.

I really needed this video. Thank you, Tina
You really nailed it. I do this too. Tired of all the gimmicks of productivity to being a potato all day.
Thanks! I rarely subscribe to youtube channels, and most definitely not after watching just one video
i appreciate you so much, you gave a lot of valuable advice!! you inspire me
Thank you so much! Badly needed this
The cold shower reset works great! Sometimes the hard part is realizing you've already been banging your head against a wall for an hour...
Ty for the content!
Thank you Tina for making this video. I really have to work my ass off to study and finish my thesis.
Live like you might not see the tomorrow and it is a possibility in reality.
