Unironically not a bad idea
I didn't know i needed that, but now i do

reminds me of SOTL's video on ranking AOE2 ai surrender messages
sanest eu4 player
I am peak sanity indeed
An event tier list would go hard.
... into the 24 hour video timelimit on TH-cam, indeed. There are 1,590 events in Eu4, as off 3 patches ago.

Comet sighted F tier.
Don't distract him from the province tier list

I did not see this one coming xD
It worked surprisingly well!
Finally getting down to the important topics.
What can I say I did the less important stuff first!
I actually choked on my drink when I read the video title
Good to hear, this is definitely one of my more interesting ideas for sure
That one about the advisors has made me scratch my head whenever I see it - because in my mind the advisors gives me points (as the primary function) and then the speciality is the added extra.
Fair enough, but I have also heard the opposite reaction in fairness
@@LemonCake101 The reason I say this is that I would only re-roll for a specific advisor in a few limited circumstances where the specialty is necessary (or incredibly helpful) to my next plan (e.g. I need that extra Diplo Rep to get a big alliance) - but most of the time just getting any advisor of the right level is my concern. I think that's especially true when you upgrade them past Level3
I agree except for some mil advisors, but most people starting the game don’t value it that way, and I definitely didn’t when I started. I think most people don’t understand how good and important mana is when they begin playing
This is how you know it’s time for EU5. If the tier lists are now to the loading screens, content has been exhausted
I have content to work through, I just thought this would be fun!
@@LemonCake101 didn’t mean anything by it. Just ready for EU5!
@@dominiclanzillotta8643 fair enough, Eu5 should be interesting
Let's make every trade center tier list (that exist in 1444 and that can be created through missions)
The Bavarian one can be created on any province... wait no this is just a province tier list
Now you need to do a tierlist of all the loading screens
Thankfully not many of those!
Loading screen tip 6 is something I didnt know for years.......
I would always first go into the province view and then click on the country flag.
Fair enough I guess! I think most people found out by just clicking around
TIL if you right-click on a country - you go to the Diplomacy screen! 5000 hours in and I am just learning this 😂
Lemon cake, do you hate yourself?
Plead the fifth
Dude never misses. Another critical video to play while I get stomped by very hard diff ottomans with quantity.
Enjoy!
This tierlist is wonderful. Actually showing what you are talking about is a 9000x increase compared to having a trade note tierlist where the viewer has to constantly needs to have the game open to check where things are.
I really struggled with the trade node tier list in terms of how to show it, and gave up trying to be honest
Haha, another fun Lemon Cake video...
Wait, HOW LONG IS IT?!
102 tips... there are a lot of tips
You should definitely make that video about DLC features. As someone relatively new to the game, and got all of the DLC with the humble bundle, there's so much I don't know about what I even have in the DLC.
Could be an idea
Sure. What the hell. I’ll watch it.
Enjoy!
War exhaustion is actually very useful if you want to get the "court and country" (or whatever it's called) disaster. By the time of absolutism you're pretty much incapable of getting to positive unrest unless you fully occupy an enemy and then just ignore the surrender deals until you reach +1 unrest from the exhaustion.
Yeah, it's not going to be useful every game but don't underestimate how important +20 max absolutism can be for republics, especially since most of the best republican gov reforms cost max absolutism.
No I am a court and country enjoyer, I just prefer getting there with 1k OE.
@@LemonCake101 Fair enough, I bow down.
Bro is STALLING on the national ideas tier list
Yeah I will need a big bribe for that
When it comes to the monarch point generation limmit, remember that tributaries can give you more monarch points on a yearly basis. Even as a non-East Asian religion nation, you can still get tributaries by full annexing a country that had tributaries (just like you gain a vassal if you annex their overlord).
honestly, this is my favourite video you ever made, brilliant idea
Thanks, I had fun with this one!
Least insane lemoncake video
The thing about winter attrition is actually really helpful if there aren't forts to siege, and you're just walking through siberia. It HURTS to do in winter, and is basically fine otherwise. So, fall back to your fort sieges or occupied provinces, instead of marching deeper into the white death. This was even more relevant back before ZoC forts.
The Overseas don't give Overextension bit used to be outright true back when it was written. The "no overextension from colonized land" thing exists because fresh colonies used to not be cored.
it also helps in the niche case where your army fits just right into the supply limit. the moment winter comes, you'll start taking attrition
Time to leave 40k stack in Tibet to make use of some of these tips
mood
The best tip for me has awlways been "even after several thousands of hours you can still discover new mechanics"
I its not exactly what they said but it was something like that and it could not be any more true
Why have you razed the audio quality, is it really worth the MP?
never knew i needed this video
The "right click on a province to open diplomacy" tip is rather useful in a game with otherwuse ENTIRELY left click controls.
Until I saw that loading screen tip i didnt even know there was any rigt click functionality in the game
Nice video!
The only time I've been able to declare a coalition war on the AI is after France got burgundy as a PU in a war
Overextension is also just a number. Maybe a bit trickier, but 300-500% overextension is also just a number...
(Pretty handleable if you have massive tolerance to true faith and unrest, aka you are the true religion, Jadd, or if you are an OPM Ottoman with eyalets)
No for sure, I mean 2k OE is where the fun begins because the unrest from OE (+100) is enough to overcome recent uprising, and yes I do that sometimes just to feel something
To be fair, with tip 2 regarding attrition, it doesn't say "It is a good idea to walk off from sieges in winter". It says "It MIGHT be better to pull back". In a situation where you're about to invade, say, Russia, and waiting 2 more months to push your battle armies in could avoid January/February attrition, it MIGHT actually be good advice. The wording is only suggestive, it invites situationality. At the very least, it clues players into the fact that more winter = more attrition.
If you haven't done it yet a region tier list could be fun.
Anatolia, Balkans ect. Value of the provinces inside, benefits and challenges from playing in/conquering the region ect.
Great idea! Peak EU4 content! But!
Whats wrong with 4-8 years republic election cycle tip? I always thought it was right. Do you have issue with the one Italian reform, that givess you 12 years cycle? Or the one without election cycle, like the Venetian one or dictatorship? Or the fact, you can have elections every 3 years with T2 reform?
Sheet. Now I see your point and I feel bad about my favorit tip. Sad EU4 noises.
Yeah sorry. Hope you enjoy the rest of the video though!
You need to do a tech level tier list. Either do one list with all the three techs, or do three lists for each tech
Damn I actually learnt more than I care to admit watching this
Glad you enjoyed!
Oh god, I never knew you could right click countries to go to diplomacy! I only every left click then left click their shield icon!
Best idea soo far
Glad you enjoyed!
Choosing the idea groups carefully is a a tier tip for people that lack a certain dlc (no clue which one) that allows you to cancel idea groups. I found this out the hard way, that in a game with no dlc you cannot abandon idea groups once you have taken them even when you havent taken any ides.
Now *this* is epic
cant wait for some ship trade power stacking
Great video
1:14:08 kinda true, IRL you want to get trust to banks (taking loans of easily obvious things that you can pay back to be able to take credit for sure bets (like financining a house or a apartment, or to do something like that) but definitly not take a loan for something that is a risky bet, it is good to have a "good payer" fame with banks rather than being a wildcard and to create that you need to take safe loans, but overral do not take loans they make the thing you want to buy expensier most of the time.
What’s the timestamp for the giraffe hint? I’ll listen to the whole thing anyways but I really want to see the ranking for the giraffe one
A dlc tier list/ranking would be fun
Mhm, although I have to admit I kind of play with all DLC, and have done so a lot hence it is hard for me to comment from practical experience.
I find it funny that you gave "Loading Tip 6" a D ranking when I wasn't even aware of it, and I've got nearly 5k hours in the game. This entire time I've just been left clicking on a province and then clicking the "diplomacy" button on the province window, when I could have just been right-clicking the province. I don't think I've ever even seen that loading tip, or if I have I didn't understand what it was actually saying (which I don't think you fully understood what it was actually saying either.)
Oh my God. I can't believe there's a tierlist for this. i'm laughing my ass off!!!
Good pont with 74 and listing innovative as another example
We’re beating playmaker with this one 🔥 🔥 🔥

I'm not quite understanding the comment on tip 57. You said that fleets get more expensive from technology but armies are weird. But armies also become more expensive by 2% each technology. Is this the case where I know more than the youtuber? Or when you said that their cost depends mostly on the size of the army you meant that the smaller part is that 2%?
The smaller part is the 2% basically, the tldr is I assume your army is mainly getting more expensive since its going from 3 guys with a goat to a 3 million strong behemoth with artillery, and cannons cost money :(
Ok i feel the right click thingie on a spiritual level and i have a lot of hours in eu4 . I also dont think i have ever seen that message
Maybe i just forgot this was a thing .I pretty much always clicked the province and then the shield.
Province + Shield is the classic in fairness
I don't know how you can say that advisors giving mana isn't obvious when there's literally a number right next to the portrait but then immediately after say that the way an end node works, which is what makes them the best nodes in the game, is obvious. For a new player, I don't think end nodes not having connections is that obvious, especially because the only way to tell is by looking at the map in trade view.
Also some Italian elections are 11 years. Did a Ferrara game recently
I had a ridiculous 5 gigs worth of savegames, and I only started noticing when trying to open the save game menu started really slowing down.
For sure save games are a monster

You can just reply to the comments 30 minutes after the video releases.
I don't know man, I feel tired from seeing you reply to every comment.
@@anirobrien7004 I have stopped recently in fairness, I still do read them. Yeah I addressed this in the 10k sub special, but yeah I peaked around 3 hours a day just on comment replies. Fun times!
Would like a modifier tier list
Maybe divide it into 3 parts for the admin dip and mil modifiers (through where they are in the ideas area of custom nation editor)
Also maybe consolidate ones so you dont have to rate manpower modifier and manpower in true faith provinces and manpower in accepted culture provinces etc etc
There are hundreds of modifiers, and combining them is a terrible idea. Manpower in True Faith and Accepted cultures play very differently: one requires a one faith, the other a one faith+ one culture for example to be effectively same for example. And the custom nation editor has like 10% of the modifiers in the game. This wiki article is out of date, but can help you comprehend the scope eu4.paradoxwikis.com/Modifier_list
Disagree with the light ship one, if you are in a good trade node like the english channel light ship spam does give you a very good return on investment. And when you have taken over the trade node just move them downstream
"Don't conquer all your enemy's provinces in one war" - I have always thought it to be more of a warning about aggressive expansion than overextension and it kinda covers both.
Also policies tier list when?
Policy tier list is a touch too adjacent to idea group tier list for me, and ranking idea groups is a great way of starting Drama since it would be basically me telling a whole bunch of TH-camrs in insane detail how they are wrong.
If there's a "teching is not always a viable option" tip it should be S tier. As a Stellaris player if I ever started playing EU4 that information would have had to been drilled into my skull for me to absorb it
I think #51 "mercenaries help you save manpower" is actually a pretty good tip for a beginner. It isn't necessarily obvious that that's the true benefit of mercenaries. Some beginners might think of them as a bonus for when you're rich, or to build when you've run out of manpower already - rather than realizing that they're important to use proactively so that their separate manpower pool soaks up casualties and attrition for you.
Best video ever
Thanks!
4:03 Usually siege break off especially in winter because the threat of mutiny. But here, your army are 100% loyal so of course continuing the siege is better. :v
Watching till the end
Enjoy!
@@LemonCake101 Agreed with most of the picks, advisor tier list when??
@@a51raider I think quite a few people already made those
The advisor one. On my first game, my friend was "yeah im making 16 mana points each a month"
And then there was me, making 9 because he never told me about privileges and how advisors worked
Had no idea about the shift-right click to disable notification😂
Custom nation idea modifiers, split into admin, diplo and mil videos.
I don't know about the trade power one, not only does it mean you can steal trade in multiplayer without going to war, but it also means you can steal value from trade nodes you don't control and don't want to conquer, such as a non colonial France game where you want to focus on Europe, or are busy taking the new world. This is especially true if you are playing the Netherlands and you have the special light ship which is just the best ship in the game, which you will build anyway.
I mean in an MP lobby if you steal someones trade they are going to war with you to stop you doing that. That's basically a great way of making enemies. As for something like a non-colonial France game that's all fine, but again that is basically a self imposed restriction where you don't expand into the colonies.
@@LemonCake101 As much as I agree with the MP argument, I was mainly referring to smaller games, but that's my bad as I don't really play big games. Although if you are in a strong position, people can't just declare war, especially if you make some actual allies(however rare that can be in MP)
As for the French game argument, again, I was misinterpreted, by colonial I meant actually colonising, of course you can just conquer colonies, but as a European France its not really a self imposed restriction as much as it is fighting a coalition every other year to stop a larger one from forming.
@@BolphesarusMaximusWardius issue with talking about those 'smaller' games they aren't really competitive enough to warrant a conversation. Issue is a chill game with mates is very different to a 'no AI left in 1475' lobby, but both fall under the 'MP' umbrella.
@@LemonCake101 I think not warranting a conversation is a strong phrase, the game is supposed to be played to have fun, however so. Focusing on just the competitive sphere cuts all that out. Its like comparing playing a sport for fun and professionally, its different yes, but it doesn't mean only one of those ways is wrong.
@@BolphesarusMaximusWardius well yes, but for a casual lobby there is no conversation: do what is fun. Since I am not ranking for fun, the only real way to maintain objectivity is to rank for objective 'what is best' otherwise its even more arbitrary.
This is a genius idea
It worked surprisingly well as a video concept!
1:02:49 This tip made me think for the longest time that being a rival gives you decreased war score cost vs rivals
I wish it did :(
We need a EU4 flag/COA tier list
I literally had no idea about tip #6, and I have almost 2000 hours in that game lol
We got loading screen tips tierlist before national ideas tier list 💀
Unironically tho, if you were to make a NI tier list, would you do 1 mega list or would you go 1 continent at a time then maybe make a last one comparing all the S tiers against each other?
National Ideas tier list would take a while, and well I named my price. My plan is not to make one in fairness.
We need all provinces in alphabetic order + during all start dates tier list.
On your response to tip #6 (right-clicking to get to a country's diplo screen) I think you missed the point. What would happen when you right click is not automatically intuitive to a new player. If you didn't know that, to get to a nation's diplo screen you have to use more menus and clicks (Either going to your own diplo tab and finding them in the list; or left clicking on one of their provinces and then pressing the diplomacy button on there; or right-clicking on the nation's flag)
4) 9:00 they probably meant coalitions more than overextension. As it is the bane of newer players.
30:03 it'd be nice if in such mechanics hitting a cap would give you an extra malus
47:59 not goods produced but production efficiency. The same amount of goods flows to the trade with 0% or 100% autonomy. (would post a link to wiki but YT deletes such comments)
you can look at "production efficiency" as an irl tax
and "goods produced" as irl production efficiency
If a local government doesn't send any tax to the federal government, your businesses still work the same.
53) 1:02:50 you also pay less dip for unclaimed provinces, maybe they meant that
58) 1:07:28 it also increases war score cost, maybe it was that
89) should have been "delete" button erases your save file))
100) I'd say that
I mean fair
I suspect that the reason behind tip #67 calling them national ideas was that it was written early in the game's history by someone more familiar with EU3. The last expansion of EU3 added loading screen tips to that game, and in EU3, there were no unique idea sets for each country, but rather "national ideas" that were really like what regular ideas are in EU4. You accessed them pretty much the same way (certain admin tech levels gave you access to more) but instead of sets of 7, you only picked 1. Obviously much less "build" diversity and unique country flavor back then!
Ah that's an interesting shout in fairness, that would make sense.
Someone should do this for Call of Duty death quotes.

trade ships ain't that bad tbh. taking over Lubeck military as England takes time and AE so you might put lights in the meantime and when you are done just move them to Baltic. There is always a trade node you want to have more trade power in and you can't be everywhere in a blink of an eye but your ships can. also you get naval traditions which means trade steering and a. lot of it at that and imo it's the best or the second best eco modifier you can get. and of course you can use them for naval warfare but they are just better cogs so kinda meh

Also VSC hater smh
also consider control replace the
I do actually use vsc ironically enough I just thought Word would be funnier
19:20 is actually kind of important when you're doing half states and you forget you're doing half states and you take 2000 overextension and then theres actually 20 provinces getting turned into a full core and then your 6 month coring time is now actually 12 months and every single province with seperatists spawns rebels.
also its stupid that coring a province directly into a full state costs double the time. it just is stupid. no one can convince me otherwise.
Now just loading screens
All the tips are supposed to be for new players. When I was a new player I didn’t read any of them. So I attempted the tutorial, and it’s broken so I got stuck and couldn’t get past something involving boats, I looked it up and it was a common bug that hasn’t ever been fixed. So I and I assume everyone, has to learn by doing

Do the same thing but from the VU mod
Would be awesome if there was a mod that removes all tips that are C tier and below
Tip 6 is self-evident while Tip 2 is not? I learned about Tip 6 far later, so much so that I rarely use it. My game habit of left-clicking a province and clicking again to get to diplomacy screen has become too ingrained. Right-clicking things randomly is not something people do, it's always left-clicking.
As for Tip 2, maybe you should have had the game open for reference while judging. The UI for advisors makes it extremely obvious that their main purpose is to provide monarch points.
I guess that's fair, I may have been a touch too harsh on that.
Regarding Tip 2, I have helped a lot of new people in the Eu4 discords, and the amount of new people who had no clue advisors increase points is staggering hence the comment.
Don't knock light ships too much. That way you can increase trade income faster than you can conquer. Conquest is limited by core creation costs, AE, money, manpower, and being too weak to fight the opponent. Light ships are limited by money, sailors, and naval force limit. They require mostly separate resource pools, so why not do both at the same time?
