    In my experience of breeding Tropheus, they are still very much mostly egg sack and not really free swimming at Day 13 and only at Day 21 are they comparable to your mbuna at Day 2.

    Just want to ask a question as I'm new to cichlids when they are in the fry tank do you not clean the bottom of it do u just take water from the top out

  • @Merkmerk73
    @Merkmerk73 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    How old do you think these fry really are? I have some pseudotropheus acei fry that are a lot smaller and have been in the tank for at least a week - I stumbled upon them one at a time as they'd come up to the water line.
    I have no idea when they hatched or when the female could have been brooding because the 3 adults were all eating regularly - I figure she must have released them very early.

    about how big are they after day 50?

  • @Mikinct
    @Mikinct ปีที่แล้ว

    Question 4 yourself or the group here.
    My mbuna just had 13 fry that are I'd say 30 days old, they are maybe 1" around give or take.
    Well, the same one just had another 14 fry. Can I safely add 1-3 day old fry with the 1" mbuna juveniles? Or is that a bad idea?
    When's a good time to add the 1" juveniles to main tanks where the mother is and another 2" mbuna. All are same type, orange in color.

  • @AfricanCichlidHub
    @AfricanCichlidHub  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @newforestrob Well spotted, no I havent sold them. Normally I would cull badly barred fry early off but I had this series in mind. It's nearly impossible to have a batch of African Cichlid fry that all have perfect barring. If anyone buys fish off me I'm honest and will tell them if the barring isn't perfect. But like the saying goes ones mans trash is another mans treasure.

    How do your fry develop so quickly. I have been having my fry in an incubator for a very long time, over fifty days and when compared to your fish, they are not even half the size of yours.
