While I get that some ligatures are useful, I absolutely hate the "fi" ligature that appears on the font (Roboto?) of this comment. There has to be a better way to connect f and i than by removing the dot above the i and linking them with an ugly line. Unfortunately, all fonts using ligatures are too lazy to find a better way and just copy the same thing they see everywhere else. Even fonts that didn't use to have the ligature introduced it now and it's the same ugly thing. I got to the point where I use a font editing software to get rid of the ligature. Sure, the "f i " letters look weirder that way, but at least I don't feel like cutting out my eyeballs whenever I see that abomination.
