Useful tips. 1. Sketch up on paper first. 2. Choose font close to desired design. 3. Use simple graphic editing tools. 4. Adjust kerning and width where needed as you do each letter. 5. Don't perfect till redesign is effective. 6. Use more sophisticated graphic tools to finish design. 7. Review final design vis-á-vis brand colours.
These videos are super authentic to the process at real studios. Study these techniques and learn the thought process behind decisions and it will serve you and the client well. Having the exaggerated timeline isn't that far off actually, from a business perspective design is all about time and money.
This was so helpful! I plan to design a book cover for the novel I'm writing, and now I know the secret without having to find fancy fonts to download. Thank you so much!
What a fabulous video! I’m in the process of customizing a typeface for my company logo and I really enjoyed the way you guided us through your creative process. Thank you and happy holidays!

The website shown as soon as the video starts is Google fonts. Also the first link in description will let you download a guide for using fonts I find helpful :)
@@naturalskincarehaircare3971 Me? In that case, I’m no professional but currently learning :D I mainly just make up companies and create logos, as a lot of people start that way. For example, my channel logo is by me
Just glanced over the comments, I didn't see it mentioned... Why bother with modifying and R and worrying about deleting, smoothing and glitchy curves, instead of just typing and using a P? Cool video, cheers!
Good point! However I would still have had to create the leg of the R from scratch, and I wanted to show as much customisation as possible for people to see what’s doable :) swapping out letters won’t always be possible 😁
@@rachelhurry3449 Yep, I totally get that 🙏 I've just always tried to use existing ligatures to make sure I am consistent and don't stray away from the atylenof that font too much
I came exactly for this problem 8:03, if someone can help me, I would be very grateful♥ I'm trying to customize typography, but I can't make perfect lines and curves
“could I have found the font that has exactly these sorts of serifs?”.. as a beginner you haven’t really explained the point of customising a font if i can find a similar one online.. what difference does it make in the end (from the perspective of a client)? It just takes me more time to create something that I can find online. Is this a hack for designers are able to “charge more”.. no hate fr fr just asking!!

The timer could go in the space where camera is, it will help show all the tools being used
I love the way Rachel talks through what she is thinking and the strategies she uses to design. Thank you so much for the valuable content

INZIRA is a Kinyarwanda word which means "Journey" or "Path"
However in the contest of journey you can also use URUGENDO
You will definitely become the top 1 who makes cracks

Great as always, but I think Next time, dont need to rush, no limit time or a big limit so you can do it the way you want and perfect it
They want to limit the amount of time spent on each video
What a great tutorial! Im definitely subscribing.

interesting....in Shona/Swahili nzira means Path or Way
That’s where the name of the brand was inspired from ☺️

Sa . It's hard when you look at the software
Keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts.
I haven’t even watched the video yet…but THIS is KEY for EVERYTHING in life. Lol
If a company has a long name, is it still worth customising the letters?
If they choose to go with a logo type, and it doesn't compromise readability. sure
👏👏
you kind of remind me of hilary duff i dunno why
I wish you had placed the timer elsewhere, like the bottom left.
Thanks for the feedback
Didn't understand why you had the 15min timer. It just irritated me the whole video how you were rushed
7 min for nothing , you love your voice right? Talking too much! Just show, how…
