+Think Your Health Thank you so much! When you're on a polypharmarcy regimen it can often be difficult to know if you are looking at side effects, contraindications, or a new or worsening disease or disorder when new symptoms arise. How can one mitigate these or detect medication problems when being treated with many medications? Is there a specific type of doctor that should be consulted just to address toxicology? Any ways to address this concern and manage polypharmarcy would be greatly appreciated. I know you did one on the elderly. I am asking about the adult patient managing multiple chronic illnesses. It could save so many lives if this was addressed and would make good original content also, I believe. Thank you again, sir.
Geriatricians are trained to manage polypharmacy and are aware of the challenges. Also a Geri-pharmacist can be consulted, they are trained to look for the concerns you mentioned.I work with one in our practise and she has been invaluable. If you google polypharmacy & WHO there is a interesting article you can download and read.Yes, it can be challenging to differentiate chronic comorbidities from side effects. The goal is to reduce pill burden to minimize potential drug drug interaction coupled with lifestyle challenges.
@@ThinkYourHealth Thanks for the information.
Can anyone tell me about stopping and restarting this medication? The more info the better
Missing dopamine reuptake there
Thank you for explaining the side effects so well. I started taking this 3 months ago and my neurologist has increased it already. I suffer with small fiber neuropathy and I’ve had bipolar disorder since I was a teen. I used to take Prozac and was switched to trintellix when that came out. I’m on many other medications too. Since starting the cymbalta I’ve noticed that I sleep much more than I used to. On Monday, I struggled to stay awake while driving despite sleeping well throughout the night. I ended up falling asleep without even realizing it in the parking lot of the pharmacy. Will I have side effects from stopping the medicine after 3 months? Thank you for your time and knowledge.
I am restarting this drug tomorrow. When I first took it I got clenched jaw and excessive aggressive yawning and headache. those side effects are better than the extreme anxiety and depression I've been dealing with.
Don't think Ile start tacking I've just bin on it and don't like it at all I just need something for anxiety it's not to hated
First two weeks was hard, but I am so glad I have it now. No anxiety, no pain at last. I can live almost like normal person. Works perfect for me.
I take this at a low dose. First 30 mg now 60 mg and it's a wonderful treatment for me. I titrated myself up to every dose. I was first given 20mg. Some people don’t want to deal with fine powder, but I looked at it as an lab experiment. I'm a female in my mid 30-ies. I hope this helps someone. The stigma prevented me from trying this solution. I wish I started this medication sooner!
I'm just starting with this medicine, and your advice is encouraging. Thank you very much! 💞
I started for 10 days and it helped
Did it make you gain weight?
I noticed if I miss a pill I totally start crying over nothing!!😮😢
Have you experienced crying from not taking Symbalta????
How can i be honest & transparent with my dr when they won't take the time to see us or listen???
i was on it for months and just stopped taking it and didn’t experience any withdrawals
It’s really important to remember that there is a wide variety of medications because there is a wide variety of mental illnesses. Just because someone had a hard time with this, it doesn’t mean you will. If your doctor prescribed it, it’s probably because they think it will help. Give it a try and if you need to come off, do so WITH a doctors help.
Just got prescribed this for nerve pain, to many side affects don’t think I will take.
I have Neuropathy and my feet suffer a lot I also have Lupus RA and Sjogrens and fibromyalgia this med is helping me so much i feel like its giving me my life back, at first it was not easy to begin it but now I'm doing great I have even lost 5 lbs in the second week I do get Dizzy at times. I fell off my computer chair as i sat on it and it wasn't even moving, plus got dizzy while in the shower so be careful
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I'm taking 30 mg in the mornings. I tried taking it at night but it kept waking me up early. So I started taking it in the morning. My only side effects is I have hot flashes. But I'll say it does seem to be helping. My anxiety and depression has calmed down a bit
Cymbalta is one of the hardest things I have ever quit. Quitting adderall wasn't as hard. The withdrawals are no joke. I'm not suicidal at all like some but the withdrawals from this stuff makes you feel like you're dying. You will get jitters, brain zaps, burning sensations, bad dry mouth, and facial paresthesia. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. Try something safe like Prozac or Lexapro. Even switching from this drug to Prozac gives you severe withdrawals. LIKE SERIOUSLY... DON'T TAKE CYMBALTA.
Hey Rain, what was your dosage?
Why you copy paste this everywhere?
Trust me, this is not the case for everyone.
Thank you! i was prescribed this today and after watching several good reviews i decided i’m not taking this - i’m going to exercise and try and fast
@@mrbard1 maybe because medical professionals prescribe Cymbalta like candy and downplay the discontinuation syndrome? More people should be aware of the danger associated with taking this antidepressant. Not all ADs are this difficult to quit
Ok. Now I just don't wanna take it
Don't
@@marymyers4751 what if the pain is too much, is it worse than the pain?

@@CaptainCajun gabapentin and pregabilin much safer Much less side effects
@@littlewigglemonster7691lies gabapentin gives you horrible dry mouth i asked most other patients that were with me in the hospital they all said gabapentin gives you the worst dry mouth and racing thoughts
Are you on Duloxetine(Cymbalta)?
Yep.
Been taking this for three days, I had brain shocks, fussy head, teeth grinding, insomnia, inability to concentrate, feels like I need to yawn all the time but all over my body, slowness, dizziness, nausea, pressure behind my eyes 😮💨 can't write, low energy, thats on one 30mg tablet a day, they want me on two after two weeks 🥴🥴
Stick with the 30 for 2 to 3 weeks and see how it goes before increasing dosage.
These side effects went away after 2 weeks for me. I’m so grateful I waited it out. Because I am now on it for 2 months and it has helped me greatly. 30mg is perfect for me. I didn’t need to increase my dose.
Everyone is different. So just because it works for me, doesn’t mean it will work for you. But you have to give it more than 2 weeks to figure that out.
If after 2 weeks you still have very negative side effects, then it might be time to switch to something else.
I’m not an expert by any means- I’m just a Physician’s Assistant who deals with this with patients as well as personally.
Yeah, I quit after a few days because of the insomnia effect.
Really great video! It was packed with incredibly useful information and you explained it so well. Thank you a ton!
You're very welcome! Glad it was useful.
20mg taken in the morning gave me such horrible heart palpatations, insomnia, and anxiety. I couldn’t sleep AT ALL and my heart was racing and I kept thinking about death. Some people get lucky I guess but I was not one of those people.
Same here
I couldn’t walk for 9 years while on this poison. It cased my chronic pain syndrome. I can walk after the drug was removed.

I came off of this too fast, misunderstood the doctors decrease timing advice, and boy did I ever experience awful, horrible effects. I was nauseous as hell for a solid week, and had a lot of really bad, unforgettable nightmares. This is definitely a medication that you want to follow your doctors advice very closelyand not decrease it too quickly.
I stopped 90mg a day cold because it gave me terrible constipation
. I cried my eyes out every day until my doctor gave me Lexapro
I am getting opposite of constipation
Lexapro sucks balls
I tried effexor years ago before the extended release. It was fine till i tapered. Then i tried the extended release. Lasted three days. Could not eat or sleep the entire time.
Was put on cymbalta just now and only made it one day on 20 mgs. Extreme thirst, major nausea, sweating, hot flashes, teeth grinding, could not eat or sleep and had bizarre visual issues where things looked like they were moving when they were not. People say to power through but feeling like I'm on crack and unable to eat or sleep for days is not for me.
I'm feeling the same 😢 only been on it for three days and I feel like I've done hard drugs
I'm reading comments because I feel the same way
I've been taking Duloxetine for about 3 years, now - prescribed to hopefully ease my diabetic neuropathy (which it did not, noticeably.) Just last night, I began watching vids about it, and it seems to explain some of the side-effects I've been experiencing. Among them: clumsiness (dropping things like salt shaker, etc), tics (hard blinking, cyclical muscle flexing, making little grunts when breathing, etc). My left eye has some blurring, and pressure, and the right side of my face often itches. I'd love to stop taking it, but the withdrawal symptoms so often mentioned scare the poo out of me. I hope to see my dr. to discuss a taper, but I take a 60mg capsule, so hopefully he'll prescribe pills that I can split. Thank you for this information!
I have not experienced any major issues with this med. I take it along with Lamotagrine for severe depression. I learned I had to take it at night, as it made me a bit sleepy during the day. On it for 15 years now and it does its job. Not all drugs work for everyone, and side effects are the same. Monitor yourself when you start it for the situations mentioned and if severe have your Doctor get you off it ASAP. Never take another that doesn’t help you or gives you negative reactions. It takes a while to find your cocktail of what helps.
Just been prescribed 60 mg for fibromyalgia. I have never taken it before, so I am a bit worried, but the pain is crippling. I'm 70, and I'm concerned about the starting dose. Why didn't doc titrate up from 20mg?
Blood work showed my kidney function as moderate, and doc said he'd keep an eye on it. Liver OK, sugar OK, etc. I should have asked for a copy.
Anyway, here goes, hopefully, with weight loss as a bonus.
I have been prescribed this drug by my doctor. As I have excess joint pains and numbness.
I am taking this medicine , 30mg for around two weeks and I am experiencing severe muscle pain. Any advice on how to deal with this?
Would discuss with your doctor.Muscle pain/spasms are associated with only 1-2 % of cases.Discuss with your health care provider to rule out other causes and pathology.
Thank you for your reply . I will check with my doctor
I had a lot of very bad side affects ..I had a rash from my head to the bottom of my feet ..I had all these bad side affects ..I was under the spell of this drug that I kept taking it ..I told the doctor the issues I was having and he just kept telling me to take it and would just send me to dermatologist for the really horrible rash ..my blood pressure was always high he just gave me more blood pressure pills ....I had very dark dreams and dark urine , sweating ..going off of it was a nightmare ..there are other drugs out there I think that might be a lot better then this horrible pill ..Please get a good Doctor who will listen to you not one who tells you what your going to do
I just started this last night. Just reading all the comments is scary. I will take 20mg at night, I admit I do feel funny this morning. I can feel it in my head, as if I need to yawn but down. I have no appetite for now. I thought this Rx would be ideal for me. I have chronic back pain, but my Doctor knows I drink so I am wondering why he would prescribe this to me without warning me? I know alcohol is not supposed to be taken with any medication. This is going to be a tough one!
How are you doing now?
Is it normal to experience hallucinations on this medication? I’ve experienced seeing things move out of the corner of my Peripheral view. Please tell me I’m not crazy! Has anybody else experienced this while taking the medication. I went from taking 30mg for 7days and per doctors order 60 mg increase daily. I’ve never experienced this before until I started taking this medication.
This is a horrible drug. If the drug doesn't work it does not work. Going up is not the solution in my opinion. I am just some person on the internet but I feel this drug is not good for anyone.
The urinary side-effect hit me hard at 60 mg. I told my rheumatology nurse and she thought it was just a coincidence and told me to halve the dose. Unfortunately, the pills are gelcaps that can't be divided in half that way. (Or can they?) So, I'm gonna try 30 mg tomorrow and see what happens.
Thank you for sharing this detailed and informative advice! :)
You are so welcome! Thanks!
@@ThinkYourHealth You`re very welcome too! :)
Doc inform patients about discontinuation syndrome. I was on it for 6 years and it was so difficult to stop it. Talk to your doctor people. There are better drugs
Appreciate your feedback, and in one of my future videos will talk about this, although I do mention it, albeit briefly, on a number of my antidepressant videos.
You say there are better drugs ,what are they?I'm on gabapentin, and have been prescribed duloxetene which I havent taken yet, seeing my gp that's a joke no one has seen him since pandemic,he only does telephone consultations, blood tests are done once a year.
@@catherinejackson6571 I can't tell you because a)I am not a doctor and b)
I wasn't prescribed this med for neuropathic pain like you. I can tell that it helped me with depression, but the cons are much more than the pros.If you miss a dose you are screwed ,it will affect your brain as well, it will relief you from your pain but it will cause you migraines and for SURE liver damage. This is why i had to stop it. But it wasnt easy believe me. The withdrawals are far more worse than any pain and depression one can have. I'm just sharing my experience. Take a look at CHW" Cymbalta hurts worse" . Its a public group . They will help you and they can give you safe alternatives .
Kind regards

Hello
I start this Tuesday.. boy am I scared now .. I have already been super dizzy lately I’m kinda afraid to get more dizzy with this
And been having vison issues too
hello doc. I am 27 having depression & Anxiety since 10 years. I feel ok only with SSRI's even feel better with SNRI's.SNRI makes me energetic and keeps mood good.i want to take SNRI .I tried many times but I can't tolerate it because it cause Nausea badly.very crucial stomach upset.in 10 years today is my 3rd tablet of SNRI (Duloxetine 30mg).how to deal with this side effect of SNRI. Can I start 15mg by breaking it and will take it during eating food.
2:- can I take other SSRI with SNRI
3:- Can I take it other SSRI with beta-blocker ( etizolam + propanol HCL)
4:- or Can I take it only with beta-blocker because I have Palpitation also.
If nausea is one of you side effects try taking it with some food with your Doctor's approval. You may discuss reducing the dose a little to see if that help with side effects experienced.Consider taking the medication at night time once you health care provider approves.
It is also important to find other measure to deal with your mood:
1) Develop a routine to go a to bed at the same time.
2) Healthy life style choices ( ie if you are drinking or smoking need to quit or at least reduce).
3) Be physically active, go for walks, exercise
I assume you are taking propranolol off label to help with anxiety.Blood Pressure Lowering Agents such as propranolol may enhance the hypotensive effect of DULoxetine. So there is no absolute contraindication not to combine these meds. however you should be aware of side effects. Are your blood pressures stable?Sometimes chronically low blood pressure can cause nausea.
Etizolam can its own issue as is a Benzodiazepine. Here is a video I just put out looking at Xanax which belong to the same family of drugs. If you are interested you can check it out; th-cam.com/video/lLKHJIVrKN4/w-d-xo.html.
@@ThinkYourHealththanks♥️ never got hypertension or Hypotension issues even using beta-blockers prolonged.
1 question, why so many side effects, these are not designed to help anyone they are designed to cause liver and kidney damage amongst other things. If this is not true why wouldn't they twerk the ingredients to prevent said side effects. It's because of this type of deliberate side effects that I won't take any big pharma medications.. the only ones I take are antibiotics if I get an infection and you can lessen the side effects by taking CoQ10 and milk thistle. And antibiotics are for short term use only. I won't even take paracetamol. Far too long we have trusted our doctors but I don't trust them these days as they only offer treatments of symptoms no cures only for infections. It's terrible that doctors took an oath not to cause harm then they prescribe toxic medications.
Honestly, i miss my libido days. I was initially put on 20 mg for like a month them doc suggested i take 30 mg. I've lost weight, have trouble pooping daily, soft to almost mushy stools when i do go, had nightsweats sometimes, constant nasal drip, absolutely no libido, and my white blood cell keeps diving, but it does work with my anxiety and depression, perhaps neuropathy nerve pain too, but im not sure if its overall worth it?
I have a damage saliva gland, so i constantly have to hack up my nasal drip.

Love you videos but again, other healthcare providers, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, also prescribe this medication. “Talk to your healthcare provider” (which you did say once!) is more appropriate than “Talk to your doctor”. May I suggest that you do a future video on the similarities and differences in training for doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants? It might prove enlightening to your followers! Thanks so much!
Thank you for your feedback.I will in future videos work on my verbiage as you correctly pointed out the term healthcare provider is indeed more appropriate.

Please discuss this with your health care provider as they are aware of your medical history and what medications you are on!
Metabolism problems can cause anxiety and depression, and there is nothing what can help in those situation
Will 30mg be enough for a 35 year old male? 60mg gave me terrible fatigue.
Depends on how your symptoms are responding to the medication.Have a discussion with your Doctor,
Very informative video!
Great, appreciate the feedback.
Can withdrawal cause palpitations? or it just might be Orthostatic hypotension. But it feels like my heart dropped as if i was on a roller coaster and its about to dropped down or a quick jump scare like a giant pause in my chest and it ends with butterfly feelings throughout my body. Its very uncomfortable but no pain. It usually happens randomly but fast movements can trigger it
Lot of reasons can cause palpitations. If you're asking if stopping a medicine suddenly and if that can cause palpitations the answer is yes.Can orthostatic hypotension cause a faster heart rate and palpitations, yes.The main thing your Doctor has to rule out are organic causes. The most common reasons would be the heart and thyroid.Discuss with your Doctor. They are aware of your medical hx as well as what other medications you are on to rule out drug drug side effects.Simple tests which can be done is to test for orthostatic BP with BP readings, an EKG and a thyroid panel ( TSH,free T4)
This crazy, how many symptoms. Why this drug was approved?
Glad I watched this
Thanks!

This is a very dangerous drug. The side effects are terrible. Long term use is not recommended. Trying to ween off this drug is almost impossible.
It is not impossible. But, must be done. I recommend finding a safer mediactions for stress or try alternatives like accupunture and yoga, exerercise and just not caring what people think so much.
Very nice.
Thank you
Didnt help me with depression or anxiety
Can I take 5 htp doctor?
Can you please discuss about Amitriptyline. Thank you!
Thank you for asking, will be adding to my to do video list.
Thank you for your reply to my request. 👍@@ThinkYourHealth
all these drugs suck, list of side effects always longer than the positives
They are slow poison
I totally agree. It is very curious, to say the least, how
most doctors minimize side effects. If you take the medicine and feel bad, you are almost forced to continue until you "feel good" on the medicine, and in the meantime, you may be doing irreparable damage to the body. No doctor says, if you feel bad, stop taking this medication. You do not know if it is for the good of the patient or for the good of the pharmaceutical laboratory.
Can duloxetine can for tremor
In about 2-3 % of cases. However, will need to rule out other causes of tremor.
I have all this allergy
Do u take it in the evening x
You can take it in the evening as long as it is taken once daily.Have that discussion with your Doctor to make sure there are no other drug drug interactions.
@@ThinkYourHealth thankyou... For replying.
Does this cause weight gain?
No it causes weight loss, Amytriptilin makes you gain weight.
Excellent review of Duloxetine.
Thank you kindly!
The only good review is someone who tells you as a doctor not to take this drug. This drug ruined my life after taking 30mg dosage for 9 days.
@@Mike-rh9zs I am so sorry you went through such a horrible experience. I believe that medications should be a last resort, not the first, but this medication has helped many people. It is sad that you weren't one of them. I hope you found something that did address your needs.
@@TheOldMayfieldPlace no two years later I still suffer multiple side effects from pills I never even took for 2 weeks. They are legit poison to the human body anyone who disagrees is just a straight up idiot that never took them.
@@Mike-rh9zs what happened?

Must have misspoken. 😂. Meant to say difficulty with orgasm.
@@ThinkYourHealth hahahaha I was wondering!!! 🤪
Constipation ?
Seen in 9-10% of cases, dose related. That is the higher the dose the higher the chance of constipation.
