JD was a unique, never-to-be duplicated gem. I studied bass voice with him twice at the Stamps School of Music while it was in Waxahatchie. Don't let anyone try to confuse you by telling you that someone"s" else"s" was/were the lowest bass voice in the world. I'm a retired voice teacher; I know voices. He's the real thing. RIP, JD!
Hello from England ELVIS died 2 days before my 12th birthday. I have been a FAN ever since Have you heard the saying "WHAT GOES AROUND COME AROUND" Vinyl is perhaps more popular now than 30 + year ago I have started to collect it again with 9 ELVIS albums bought at local charity shops and antique shops local to where i live. Its so wonderful to see JD just 10 year after Elvis died still touring and singing with that RICH VOICE OF HIS I have watched lots of videos about ELVIS and JD and The Stamps and some make me feel 😊😊and some make me CRY 😢😢😢
Nothing against Tim Storms. He's very talented and has a beautiful voice. It's just that there's a dispairity between the guys who were out there night after night hitting it because it was there and the guys today who have a lot of electronic media to help them. So, no disrespect to Tim Storms was intended; I'm sure he'll get to that place too!
saunieh lol Tim Storms likes to think he can sing 2 octaves lower than J.D. due to what I call his “invisible notes” or his self proclaimed ability to sing so low it’s inaudible to the human ear (so how does he know he can sing it if he can’t hear it???) Anyways, J.D. sang 100% from his seemingly endless chest cavity and Storms is 100% fry.
By the title I thought by 'record pitch' you meant he was going to hit the low note of all low notes, for a record low pitch. I kept waiting for it. Then I saw I misunderstood the title.
Saw him countless times as a kid. I was terrified to go to the bathroom during their set for fear he’d stop everything and call me out 😂. Saw it happen in the middle of songs many times.
Ol' J. D. would pull your leg quicker 'n scat! He picked on George Younce, too, by telling him that he was the best Bass singer that he'd never heard! George figured it out, eventually, that J. D. was having a little bit of fun at George's expense! J. D. and George were very close friends to the end!
Ronald Shank lol JD and George loved to hate each other or hated to love each other, however you wanna look at it. You should look up “JD Sumner George Younce Comedy” It’s like a 5 minute long video of them razzin each other.
Ronald Shank I don’t know if this is the same story you’re referring to or a different one but I think George Younce told JD “there ain’t nobody I had(n’t) rather hear sing than you.” This almost pushed JD to tears, he said. To think Ole Georgey thought that highly of him but he didn’t get the joke. So George told him again the next day, “JD, there ain’t nobody I hadn’t rather hear sing than you.” JD still didn’t catch it so George told him the next day. JD caught it and I think probably almost socked George right in the mouth or somethin lol. Those two were best of friends.
+john tabler Certainly was entertaining. I saw this same sales pitch at one of the Masters Five concerts. JD could have easily made it as a stand up comedian.
lol he sure is funny ya he doesnt listen to music hes sick & tired listening to himself after 90 mins priceless & has to go to washroom at the end lol loved this :)
@@neiljohnson291 if he asked about bass singer wbo's like jd sumner, skinny but have a deep voice, im gonna pick richard sterban, but if he asked about deep voice like jd sumner has, im gonna pick up Mikhail, Vladimir miller usw.

Que bondade dos céus de dar a você essa rica e única oportunidade..caro mestre.
This is classic JD humor! He's been gone 12 years now and I still miss him.
He's singing with Elvis again:) Can't wait to see them both in the next life!
I didn't know that he had such a sense of humor.....is one of the best...
My dad used to listen to a record that was just JD doing stand-up.
What a character! I miss him!

Made me miss him, the old days and my Mama!
Tim Storms has hit a lower pitch 2 times and in a controlled environment. JD did it night after night off the cuff because he had the natural talent.
Exactly! I can't agree more!

Hey I’m happier just to hear him cut up with that beautiful bottomless voice bro
Same here. Very enjoyable, anyway. This guy’s darn funny.
Saw him countless times as a kid. I was terrified to go to the bathroom during their set for fear he’d stop everything and call me out 😂. Saw it happen in the middle of songs many times.
The best bass singer that ever was, is, and will be.
AMEN!!
JD was the best!!! Never has been and never will be anyone better...Sure do miss him!!!❤❤❤

J.D. was a mastermind. Most people don't know him behind the lines, he knew the system very well!
He cracks me up! And he doesn't even have to be vulgar to do it!
Love it!!!
My Lord....his voice is just NATURALLY that low!
And his voice only got lower as he aged too😉
He is SO genuinely funny !!!! God love him. xoxo
Urueds Multivozes lol dude stop embarrassing yourself.
SURE do miss MY FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!

the man was a nut! (that's a compliment by the way)

He was a goofball and sweet sweet soul.

4 people don't have a sense of humor! This is funny!

Now 11 of them

Man, now you can’t buy no 8 tracks OR no records no more because they quit makin em.
@TheMannyStyles Same here.
Unbelievable how come this skinny guy have a so deep low voice. Are there any bass like he was?
Richard Sterban
@@arielhavilah7837 Richard's voice isn't close to be as deep as JD's... The closest guy to have a voice as deep as JD's is Mikhail Zlatopolsky.

@@arielhavilah7837 Christopher Lee has a deeper voice than Richard Sterban. There is a video of him young, he spoke down to a F#1 or Gb1.
where did his forehead go?
He was a rounder. Gospel singin’ isn’t always gospel livin’.
I thought it was going to be his lowest not also.
No sur it is tim storms
florence al ,,not florette al..
@TheMannyStyles LOL I did too at first!
Lol!
JD Sumner was a back up singer for Elvis. I couldn't get over he had the lowest voice in HISTORY!!!!
+JFJ C JD and The Stamps Quartet were the second and last group to sing back up for Elvis.
Harriette Stamps Thanks for sharing.
Well. There are certainly lower voices than him. Zlatopolsky for example.
@@KajiVocals How is Zlatopolsky's voice lower than JD's?
JFJ C J.D. sang first bass with his Stamps for Elvis while his protege Richard Sterban sang second bass.
Hahahahahahaha
