US vs UK Starbucks | Foreign Exchange | Food Wars | Food Insider
I’m loving the foreign exchange episodes
Thanks for watching!
We need to see a video of Joe trying the whole Gregg’s menu
Absolutely, even if its just on Joe's personal channel.
Agreed!
I went to a Gregg's during a family roadtrip to Stonehenge when I visited the UK. The chicken tikka sandwich was AMAZING... I savored every bite, and wished beyond hell we had it in the US. Half-considered taking some back on the plane.
I'm glad you love Greggs! We have so much yummy baked goods there, I love it!
😂
Olive Oil and Coffee is the worst idea.
I feel the same ❤❤❤❤
It's not actually that bad. The only thing bad about it is that u have to mix it every time u want a sip of it. Other than that, it's pretty decent.
coffee goes well with fat generally. The olive oil flavor is a bit off putting at first, but it's not that strong and it's not offensively bad so you kind of acclimate to it. It's not my preference though.
“A bloody disgrace” Joe’s British accent is so on point here 🤣
London Fog Lattes are Canadian in origin.
If only the teleprompter for Joe can be raised about 10 inches, and put it center not on the offset.
Then, when he reads from the teleprompter it will make him look straight in to the viewer's eyes.
Thanks
Love Joe for everything but this is putting me off as well.
I'll never understand why takeaway bacon is so bad in Britain. Bacon is something we tend to do really well, with plenty of locally sources of great quality bacon, and it's popularity in things like a full English or bacon butty, and yet when it comes to almost all takeaways, especially the American ones that open up in Britain, the bacon is just abysmal.
Not sure if the issue is they try to do American style bacon rather than embracing British bacon and have to leave out all the flavouring and texture additives, or if they've decided that the kind of person who gets bacon on a takeaway meal doesn't give a shit about what they're eating, but I can't imagine anyone think's it's actually good, and god knows who's paying extra for it on their meals.
Burger King's used to be pretty impressive (to me at least) but that was a while ago so perhaps they had to stop using it? Or cheaped out.
Agreed! It's so odd. I prefer British back bacon to streaky/american style bacon, and it's so easy to buy good bacon here, yet whenever I get a takeaway with bacon, it's that floppy, paper thin, flavourless rubbish.Very odd.
Yeah its odd, I get some excellent thick bits of back bacon from my local butchers. All takeaway bacon is awful. Also the ratio is always bad, One slice of what I use was probably equivalent to 4 of what was in the sorry excuse of a roll.
@@08mlascellesso you prefer the flimsy ones?
@@joshchan2642 flimsy? No, I like good, thick cut, smoked back bacon.
Somebody thought it was really foggy in London so that became a stereotype a long time ago. I think it's more often foggy in San Francisco actually. London Fog was a brand of outerwear/trenchcoats in the US. Originated in the US. There was also a small rock music club called The London Fog on the Sunset Strip in LA in the 1960s.
The drink is actually from Canada, not the US.
No
Of course all the iced teas are weak because all the ice melted in it.
Exactly what I was thinking, they wait too long to drink them, that not even the cold brews look right
Joe, cheese and pickle sandwiches are a British delicacy made with cheddar cheese and pickle, which is a chutney-like (not relish, Harry) condiment made from vegetables like rutabaga (swede), carrots, onions and cauliflower, pickled in a sauce made from vinegar, tomato, apple and spices. My favorite pickle is Branston's. I usually get the small chunk variety.
Actually Piccalilli is a type of relish. A chutney usaly is made with some fresh ingredients whereas relish generally is a way of cooked preserving ingredients
8:50 that text of Harry judging Joe made me laugh my ass off 🤣🤣
Also in regard to the sweetness, if I ever do get a drink from Starbucks, I usually customize on toning down on the syrup/sugar they add into their drinks since they usually taste sickeningly sweet… ☠️
We have alot of tea option in Australia, The tea we have is pineapple, Blueberry, Blackcurrant, Peach, Pineapple, Mango, Lemon, Green, Chai, Rasberry, English, Earl grey, Black, Apple, Pear, Orange, Pistarieo green.
Love this series as always!
Thanks for watching!
i’m from the uk and never had a starbucks in my life and that tradition will be kept until the day i die
It ain’t that bad honestly
@@fayesouthall6604I find them really sickly even with no sugar in. Just get a regular latte and I just feel sick. Costa is no better in terms of coffee but it doesn't make me feel sick
@@fayesouthall6604But there's better options unless you're on a road trip or something
My step daughter used to like going to a Starbucks when she was at uni. The first time I met here there was the last time I had coffee from them. Horrible, sour, bitter nonsense. Then the bastard at the till wanted to know my name!
@@Ash_Wen-li i might say there are always better options in europe for franchises like a café or backery
Drinks iced tea after the ice is melted, complains the tea tastes watered down. O-o-o-o-K ...
About the oleato, no in Italy we don't mix olive oil and coffee, never.... however there are people in the south that in the morning have a spoon of olive oil and then also drink coffee, but not togheter...
Hey Insider Food I think your subtitle is missmatching from 15:10 until the end of the video
I lived and worked in London for a spell, and upon arrival I discovered an old Starbucks gift card from a previous trip. So I went - had my first marmite and cheddar sandwich. Now I can’t get enough of the stuff.
You have a knack for simplifying concepts.
We have alot of tea option in Australia, The tea we have is pineapple, Blueberry, Blackcurrant, Peach, Pineapple, Mango, Lemon, Green, Chai, Rasberry, English, Earl grey, Black, Apple, Pear, Orange
Wow, I'm never this early in these food war vids, I'm usually atleast 1 year late. Guess my TH-cam recommendations is actually working for a change.
I miss the Cheese and Marmite toasted bun we used to have in the UK Starbucks.
Omg ... I can't handle this switch. Lol
2:40 omg HARRY WHY WOULD YOU EAT IT WHOLE 💀💀💀💀💀
You must try my drink! 4 blonde ristretto shots iced with salted caramel cold foam!
Hello Joe Avella and Harry Kersh of Insider Food’s US Vs UK Foreign Exchange Food Wars, I love your Food Wars videos! 🍔 🍗 🌭 🍕 🌮 🌯 🍦 🍩 🍪 🍟 🥤 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
The London Fog latte is a Canadian drink! Invented in Vancouver BC, that iced drink was awful.
I can't wait for Japan 'Foreign Exchange' :)
Your subtitles are off but great video!
I’d love to try that pistachio latte! I wish we got it in the U.K.!
Hey, Harry. I don’t know what you mean when you say you can’t taste the olive oil in the Starbucks oleato. I can totally taste it and it completely changes the character of the coffee’s flavor.
Frothy milk in tea?
Thats the worst thing to happen to tea since Boston harbour 😂
Joe should have tried the caramel shortbread. I don't think I've ever had a bad one, so I'm sure the Starbucks one would have been bomb too.
Hey none of those Cold Brew with Creme look right, nor do the teas, maybe when they order them they shouldn't wait so long or not order them with ice, so all the ice melts and the creme falls completely into the cold brew, cause they're supposed to be layered
The Starbucks has failed tea miserably since the merge of Teavana! I miss that place! Had no idea we have the chicken sandwich! Cold brews aren’t my favorite once in awhile I’ll get it. But I agree that the olive oil coffee looks weird.
Teavana was great, and I'm not a "tea" person. I prefer herbal teas, but on occasion, I have black.
What’s wrong with putting sausages on things other than hot dog buns (assuming that’s what you meant Joe). No Australia Day or weekend trip to Bunnings is complete without a snag on bread and your choice of sauce
When people told me I should try the London fog, I immediately thought... "industrial revolution"? And it has put me off till this day
Moved to Vancouver and learned that the London Fog actually originated here!
15:44 Starbucks UK also has Strawberry Acai as a Refresha option, alongside Pink Coconut.
Some have Lime refresha ! 😊
We call it a Refresher. Not a Refresha. Not sure why they changed the name like that with y'all.
ice brown sugar espresso is not an american only, i’ve had it pretty much daily for last 2 years ❤
No mention of the Marmite and cheese mini ciabatta in the UK? That's the best sandwich Starbucks do
Get Joe to try Gregg's!
Think the UK sausage tastes different than the U.S. sausage because there ins’t any sage in the UK sausage.
Yes, what my coffee drink is missing is an olive oil slick floating around on the surface 🤢
0:20 I heard the Role Models reference here, whether intentional or not…
Can you guys do Canada next please
You gotta try the iced drinks with regular milk. The almond milk does indeed make them too watery.
please can we have a capri-sun food wars 🙏 😄
Strongly agreed 👍 💯
Thanks for the video. Just curious, why did Joe and Harry switch countries?
Probably because they have run out of ideas.
@@PLuMUK54 Yep but it's also a fun concept.
LOVE A GOOD STARBUCKS & DAMN YOU DELIVEROO (UK DOORDASH)
I've just ordered my favourite white chocolate mocha with cinnamon
I love Starbucks I didn’ know there was one in uk
It seems that they have been deliberately choosing all of the brands that many are purposely primarily and secondarily boycotting for the sake of Plstn(you can fill in the gaps). It is quite astounding to see who they are openly in support of, although it is not surprising nonetheless.
Organic byctt(once again, fill in the gaps) targets:
1. McDonald's
2. Burger King
3. Papa Johns
4. Pizza Hut
5. Dominos Pizza
6. Starbucks
7. KFC

You can get the iced brown sugar in the uk too? And cinnamon dolce latte and iced latte? As a Starbucks barista this isn’t exactly very informative
The cinnamon dolce latte has been my go to for years in the UK!
Get Joe to do a comparison video of the common high street coffees - Costa, Starbucks, Caffe Nero, also Greggs, and maybe some fast food ones like McDonald's.
I'd suggest Harry trying and comparing American cups of tea but I think that would be cruel.
The London Fog is a Canadian invention. It started in Vancouver BC by a pregnant woman who couldn't tolerate coffee.
Issue: The English non-autogenerated captions are off. Use the auto-generated ones to not spoil the next 2 seconds.
Toffe nut is not exclusive you can get it in the us and it’s fantastic in a mocha
My favorite drink ever is the Salted Caramel Mocha....Toffee Nut, Mocha with caramel drizzle and salt, and as long as they have Toffee Nut and they usually do can always make it even though it's not on the Menu
I am a big fan of home bargains candles but poundland tealights knock theirs out the park, especially the coffee ones
These ice drinks can’t be reviewed properly surely, they have travelled and then sat for ages so watered down due to the ice melting.
We can get the shaken espresso in the uk
We used to have a toffee nut here. I’m so mad they discontinued it in the US.
Most Starbucks I've been to on Cape Cod still have Toffee Nut
Still have it here in SC, too!
I work for Starbucks. Toffee nut syrup is a core syrup flavor here in the US, so it has not been discontinued. Most likely in your region you probably have a shortage of the syrup. Otherwise, your location should be able to order toffee nut syrup.
@@mercgurl80 really?!? I have been trying to get a toffee nut latte in NJ for a hot minute! I’ll try NYC next time I’m in town. Thanks ☺️
How about just a plain cup of coffee
I can’t believe both Starbucks actually did that
14:06 OMG HARRY BRO HE TOOK MY NAME YAY
I really want to see this, but with India or Japan
you should do with pepsi and coke
Yes! Please do this.
Today on “why isn’t the British food 90% sugar?”
AMOO CAFÉ ❤❤❤
could you ever do episodes where its usa vs denmark
(Like if you think it's an interesting or good idea)
do the measurements in milliletres - far more accurate
]
Could you send the leftovers to me ?
Eating hot food when it's gone cold/lukewarm and chewy 🤢😖
Is this Joe’s first experience of Branston Pickle?
I might be wrong on this but the cake pops in the US, do they or don’t they have ingredients in them that are banned in the UK and EU?
Regular sugar cookies aren’t frosted, but like snickerdoodles w/o the cinnamon.
And again, it’s sad that they are sampling items that have been sitting around for up to an hour or so. The iced drinks look quite diluted from the ice melting. :-( My iced teas look much darker than the one he tried. They do make their pitchers of tea concentrated and add some water during preparation, but you can ask for no/less water to be added.
And no fake milks for me!
They should ask for them without ice where possible and add ice just before filming
I've made thousands of sugar cookies in my lifetime already at 35 and 1/2. Sugar cookies are usually iced, not frosted. However, my town's bakery used to ice the base and decorate the sugar cookies with frosting.
I used to work at a bakery.
@@christinebenson518 Maybe it depends on where you live, but they were mostly like snickerdoodles w/ dusting of sugar on top (no icing/frosting) when I was growing up. If there was icing/frosting on them, they were usually labelled as such.
We have as many snickerdoodles as we do sugar cookies sweetie
good video
Dunkin is way better, though I don't know if Dunkin is in the UK or not
It is from what I understand. Their coffee IMO is better, but the brewed coffee. The specialty ones are too sweet for me.
Yeah, it is. Probably my favourite of the American takeaways to come over here. Wouldn't say it’s the best coffee when compared to other takeaway cafés like Nero and Costa, but it's good enough and their doughnuts more than make up the difference.
I want Joe to try Eccles cakes.
Starbucks did Joe dirty with those sandwiches. It's like they forgot half the ingredients for most of them.
4:51: A WHAT?
Bacon in fast food chains here in the UK is disgraceful. I never touch it.
Like a couple of Rick and Morty’s
joe please send harry some kool aid 🤪 i wanna see how you both rank the flavours 😅
I never understood the Starbucks craze. Over priced crappy coffee. Nice video though!
we have coconit milk instead of armand milk
wasted Opportuni-TEA hahahah
Where are the metric units 😢
I like that Harry is currently going through medical school, but he really should change out of his scrubs before filming.
i’m going g to be that guy: the coffee i make on my own at home is superior to starbucks and it costs at least 1x less
Starbucks is just a dessert house at this point. Disrespectful to the coffee bean and tea leaf!
The offence I feel just by the American 'teas' through the screen is honestly visceral
Olive oil in coffee 🤢🤢🤢
Oh and I'm im apparently a rare American that likes Tea🤷
Does it takes like blood?
day 1 of asking for gdk uk vs us
Why dont you use metric system argh
Hoping this foreshadows round two of Harry's turn in the US.
OMG, Joe. Please, stop.
London Fog is a Canadian drink. It's Earl Grey tea with vanilla and milk.
Iced coffee and cold brew are very different things. Can't stand the latter.
Anyone who goes to a UK branch of Starbucks for tea, must also be a vegan who used to go to a Bernie's Inn or a lover of sushi who visits the local corner chippy. 😅
