Fun thing about the skewer is that most players have never actually been hit with the skewer in match so they rarely ever know how to react once it’s happened. Sometimes I just like throwing it out there to close range fighters so they know what’ll happen if they get too close.
Make it bypass both shields AND counters on the sweet spot. It's incredibly hard to land and has almost an entire second of startup. Plus it goes right for the balls, how would anyone even block that ?
@@vivelespatat2670Yeah it being a hitgrab hurts (RIP Dthrow skewer), making it a normal move or a command grab would make it better... if you actually hit the damn thing
Yesss I've always loved the armor bypass. Here's a tip for playing against Joker: if you're at the right distance from him, and *especially* if he's at a corner, you can bait out Rebel Guard with a semi-fully charged Plasma Breath, then you can literally just run up to him and get a guaranteed Skewer
@@RaheemRollairfor whatever reason I always thought ridley was a heavy, apparently not. Also sakurai saying ridley is too big when the original Metroid game exists felt like he was trying to make excuses so he could get more time to actually figure out a moveset for the big purple dragon
To be fair I've heard in a lot of his boss fights he has very low health a bit of a glass cannon so it makes some sense that he's lighter than you would expect.
Something you don’t know (THIS IS SECRET DON’T TELL ANYONE) You can still down throw skewer average to big characters in certain percent thresholds but it’s been nerfed quite a bit 1 it’s only true on very big characters like Ridley Dk and bowser and only at super specific percents 2 if the opponent air dodges and can you can get punished if one of their moves are fast enough I would only recommend using this on those who don’t see it coming like those who are bad at the game or just not knowing that it still exists
Ive gotten really good at actually landing skewer lately on people. I like to bait them into using an up-special, (depends on the character, works best with an jumping attack where they fall slowly if they miss, such as little mac, simon, zero suit samus, meta knight, link, etc.). While they use their up special, I air dodge or use the down A, to get back on the ground, and line up the skewer as best as possible while the oponnent is vulnerable. With this concept, I usually land 2-3 skewers in a 3 stock fight. I like to go for it when Im at a high percent with a higher number of stocks left. In a multiplayer fight, I like to wait until someone has grabbed another player, come from behind and skewer them, or just catch someone off guard from behind in the heat of a fight If you want to get good at using skewer, the best way is to just practice over and over until you get the hang of it
My friend's a Ridley main and i always thought that he doesn't use that move enough. But i can understand, the pacing to do so is quite hard to maneuver.
Thank you for showing Skewer breaking Yoshi's hyper armor AND for showing the difference between armors. It's annoying to hear commentators call any kind of armor "superarmor" as a blanket term.
Hey, im just curious: What is your main? Wolf has been my favorite... however, King Dedede and samus still have a special place in my heart. I'm looking forward to the next video!
Skewer can still infinite when paired with Jigglypuff sing. My friend and I have been doing it to people online (and offline lol) for literal YEARS. It’s incredibly easy, and incredibly funny.
@@RaheemRollair You also can't skewer an opponent who's missed the tech. It just hits them with the weak hit. The down throw to skewer worked because they *didn't* need to tech, and no longer works since they changed the move to a hitgrab.

I mean it’s got some use in niche situations but it’s still his worst move. Not a single competent player getting hit by this in neutral, and if you manage to hit, they’re not missing the tech. If someone is bad enough to get hit by it outside of it beating whatever button they pressed, you didn’t need it to beat them anyway
It was never a hit grab before the patch, but I displayed that your partner can always grab the Piercee before they collapsed on the ground. Solid point though with the armor bypass statement.

Okay, just to clarify: I'm NOT SAYING that it's good. This is just a breakdown of its potential.
Just saying the k rool down throw skewer infinite isn’t gone but just replace k rool down throw with jigglypuffs sing

No wonder it bypasses armor, he stabs fighters in their family jewels. (most of the time)
Ridley is canonically a huge sadist. He would 100% go below the belt to make a foe suffer longer.

too bad is one of the hardest moves to land in competitive play and also belongs to a subpar character
