I loved the concept of this device. In a perfect world, the actual smartphones could "change" to that level of reading mode, and tha would be fantastic. But for now, if they just could do the screen as white as the bezels, or at least an minimal bezel for an more imersive look gonna also be great.
Well the point of the background color to match book like paper, which are mostly off white. They have tried in past phones with dual displays, one being regular display and the back of the phone is an e-ink display, as you can guess it didn’t take off.
The only way this is possible is if they go for a bezel-less approach like the iPhone, where the entire front panel is a screen. The screen tech can't be easily blended with the bezel like how a sheet of glass can for smartphones
Just for others who might be stumbling onto this device, I will say that dark theme is much less necessary than you might think. Dark theme is primarily used for LED and LCD screens because they emit so much light, and that's every screen nowadays. Humans aren't naturally recoiling from light themes, they're naturally recoiling from how much light is emitted from light themes on those screens. E-ink is significantly better for your eyes and doesn't put that kind of strain on it.
I have the one in white and hate that when using kindle in dark mode at night the screen creates an halo around the screen edges, that makes the screen much more bright. My old poke 3 did not do this💔😭
Hi! I'm trying to find a video showing how to use the internal application of the Boox Palma to see how to read and configure the reading of books transferred from a computer, but I can't find anything. Could you make a video like that? Thank you very much.
I bought a Black one and am excited about it. Mind if I ask a question? So I wanna read a Book while listening to music on this device, is that possible with this Device with either/or wired (USB C) or Bluetooth headphones?
Do you have any experience using headphones on the Palma? Either Bluetooth or via usb c adapter? Or even both? I’ve read about it heating up quite a bit while listening to music.
How about, is there "invert colours" under accessibility? That could dark theme anything, even things that wouldn't otherwise be supported by dark mode
Do you know how to change the pic for the start up screen. I was able to change the wall paper and the screen saver but not the start up page. if you can you advise plz.
Hi! Thank you so much for the video! I have been thinking about purchasing this device for reading & listening to the lectures. Can you upload mp3 files directly from your computer to this little thingy or it has to be only through any kind of an app? Also, can you put a 1tb micro sd card in there? I've got plenty of study materials to listen to :(
I haven’t tried 1Tb micro sd card, but based on what I read online it says up to 1 Tb. Same for MP3, I haven’t connected it to my computer, but because it supports so many cloud services that getting mp3 files is very simple.
So I want to get it for my Game design study and networking, so lot of discord and reddit + lots of article reading and web browsing, litsening to GDC talks on youtube. The screen is too small for PDFs but for everything else, does the performance hold up?
Hi. Sorry if I missed it but can Palma read aloud any Kindle books? I tried it on my Pixel 7 Kindle app and it didn't work?! Any help is appreciated. Thank you
Hi, my friend, I'm fed up with colored smartphones and blue lights. Not only do they tire my brain too much, but they also prevent me from using them in a useful way!! Do you think the Boox Palma would be the best alternative to get around all this?
If you want a phone, then look into TCL 40 NXTpaper. Palma is a reader and has limitations. It is much slower than most phones now a day. Palma is good as a side device for reading.
Thank you for making a video that shows these very important features

Thanks, I've been trying to decide if I want this device and this video helped me make my decision!
Great video; thank you. the Palma is a litle large in my head to reach the volume buttons for page turning. i like the idea of it.

I like to read at night with dark mode on my kindle. So for me its important, and this video helps a lot
I really like this device and happy it is not a phone. Hopefully it continues to improve as time goes along.

I don’t like dark mode for reading, but then again this device is in a lead when compared to many since very few come in this form factor.
If this only had cellular, I would buy it.
Bigme Hibreak is similar, but has cellular (maybe not working every network)
Very useful demonstration review video, thanks very much!!

I still want a system wide dark mode 😞
I don’t like how dark theme looks on e-ink display. Otherwise I’m always the first to adopt anything in dark theme.
It would be possible to make the plastic the same white nuance as the screen…

Yes, only time music stop when you turn off display, otherwise multitasking is pretty good.

I’ve read about it heating up quite a bit while listening to music.
I tested it and I don’t see any heating up issues.
This was so helpful! Thanks
Please make a short, that shows how to get Epub or Mobi books onto it. Thanks man
I'm using the Dropbox app on it to transfer Epubs over wifi.

The only things under accessibility are Subtitles, Touch & Hold to Delay, and NaviBall.

I don't have the device but it does not seem like a good fit for Discord. This is for brain input primarily, not output

Does bigme b751c has good speaker just like boox palma?
I’m not a fan of Bigme products, additionally I’m more likely to find a Boox product in an actual store.
