Unfortunately Akiyama does feel like an afterthought in this game. What with him not having his own final boss instigation cutscene, no another drama, being a half chapter character, no alterations to his outfit (aside from that silly looking watch), even down to his recycled Premium Adventure outfits from past games. Hopefully the writers don't make that mistake again, Akiyama was our first taste of the world of yakuza through the eyes of someone that wasn't Kiryu and quickly slash kicked his way into our hearts with his relatability and his charisma. He's a goofball with the heart and power to back it up and we need more of him damn it. He's already a legend to us.
Well after playing the story, Akiyama definitely doesn't feel like an afterthought, everything relating to him in the plot was probably being written way ahead of afterthoughts, just he doesn't have a rival this time around.
Akiyama mentioned how he hopes him standing against Kanai and a god damn army to defend his home makes him a legend. I damn well hope it does. Not only did he stand against an army as I said, He defended his home. Was probably the ONLY Moneylender that not only Yakuza, but the OMI ALLIANCE bowed down to him. Plus there's the events of Yakuza 4 to boot. I mean, Kiryu, Saejima, Tanimura and Shinada are a legend in their own rights, heck even Haruka given who her adoptive father figure is and her idol career. I feel as though Akiyama deserves to become The Legend of Kamurocho.
Akiyama isn't yakuza. You can say that he's affiliated with a former Chairman and is acquainted with a current patriarch, but that's as far as it goes.
Akiyama isn't Yakuza. So he can't have titles like that. However he'll probably be known as a Legendary Moneylender. He stopped two conspiracies, took on am army almost single handedly, and he got countless people out of debt or helped them through his business. He'll no doubt earn a title, just not a Yakuza one

What's even better is that if we take in account the layout of Kamurocho, we can see that the Yamagasa come from the south (Fukuoka) the Kitakata from the north (Sapporo) and the Omi from the west (Kansai). Nice symbolism.
i think what he wanted to mean by that is that Kanai received as much torture as Majima once did or even worse, not that he wanted to imply that Kanai would be Majima 2.0, just that Kanai got similar treatment in terms of torture or worse
Akiyama may not be as strong as Kiryu but he is still worthy of being a legend in my eyes... And poor Kanai knew he was screwed lol Akiyama already beat him plus there's at least more than 2,000 men including a monster like Watase in the crowd

I love what they did at the end where he pulls out the cigar and lighter. Normally you see underlings light up the cig of the higher ups but in this scene Akiyama lights his own.
+Glorie Mpaka Yamadera did nicely too, not only he voiced Aliyama,but a ton of other famous anime characters like Jubei from Ninja Scroll. Saejima's voice actor also voiced Yamato from Naruto. I didn't recognize until I checked it in Wikipedia

Ngl it has been a long while since I played Y4 (back then we still only had the ps3 lol) and I don't exactly remember the fight completely. It's lacking an awesome dynamic intro unfortunately, but the music and the setting is so fucking awesome. Playing as Akiyama, defending his town just feels awesome. Also I think the QTE at 5:30 looks so cool, especially Akiyama's slow mo dodge shot
Kanai, is probably imo the worst villain in the entire series. 1. Little to no motive. 2. Unlikeable as hell. 3.his boss fight is complete chore to do (the only reason why its hard cause of all the goons he has around him.) and fighting him numerous times gets boring. Seriously, if it wasn't for that "kneel before Akiyama" scene. Kanai is not even worth fight at all.
I know I'm being a spoilsport but whenever these big siege battles happen where the eff are the police? I mean in this case Akiyama's fighting right in an open plaza so it's not like it's somewhere obscure.
