I find it interesting that this version of the song seems to directly be talking about Nishikiyama, whereas the original seems to be about Haruka. It makes sense that this is more about Nishiki since through Yakuza 0 we know a lot more about the friendship between Kiryu and Nishiki.
I feel like this version is sung from Nishiki's perspective, which is a nice way to change up this theme. Now we got the original that tells Kiryu's perspective of sacrificing his own life to protect the ones he love, while this version tells Nishiki's side of the story and how he's willing to throw away all he has cherished to rise the ranks of the Tojo Clan.
Nishiki stopped Kiriyu from killing Shibusawa because he feared the path Kiriyu would walk. When Nishiki killed Dojima that was the beginning of him loosing his sanity and then after stabbing his goon we know the rest. I wonder how Kiriyu would've turned out had he killed Shibusawa
I wish Nishiki come back 🥲 imagine him half face burned with no memories walking in the countryside and living a normal live for years until BANG from nothing his memories came back. And now is time for the real payback.
I love the composition and editing on this. It's such a simple concept (two former "brothers" forever walking past and yet also into each other) implemented so VERY effectively through framing and so forth. Kudos!

Congrats on making it to 5, personally i'm playing og the Y1 and Y2 for the first time. I've played both Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2 but i never did go back to the originals until recently. I'm on Y1 but i'm playing the Y1 fan translated english sub version with the Japanese voices. Ofc it's only possible via emulation.

YES, the missing piece needed to make this receive you remix one of the greats alongside turn you, bite you, and North Star has been FILLED! Ok it was still one of the greats before, but with that last piece in the intro, it’s definitely a contender for my favourite remix.
I had idea where when you finished chapter 7 "The dragon and the koi", the game intro automatically change into this song and animation. Can add more emotional effect between these two rivalry in gamer's eyes, and a suprise for gamer.

Have a mod for Kiwami that mostly replaces the music for that of the original's (which I almost entirely prefer) but for whatever reason replaces the music in the final Shimano fight to this. Turned it from an okay fight into an absolute blast that I purposely extended the fight just to jam.
