Thank you for compiling all of this information. I did not know that this is what my relative experienced. My relative, Courtney Draper, is listed as Lt. John Doe in Vic Mapes book but is listed in the other sources as Lt. Draper. Courtney was killed on the Enoura Maru on January 9, 1945.
Thankyouu so much sir sa magandang paliwanag! Gabuya Marjorie M BSHM-2G Done watching! Yes, one of the good primary sources is the diary and photos of the soldiers of the second war. Because they witnessed and experienced it, we can use them to learn what we don't know about the second war and this is one of the important facts about the past years.
Thank you for this informative lecture, Atty. Donesa.
Done watching po, thank you sir. Panotes, Kimberly C. BAMM 2A Answer to question #1: Yes. Because these Americans, together with other Filipinos, first-handedly experienced the Japanese soldiers' persecution, torture, and degrading treatment. Moreover, according to what we've learned in this lesson about what constitutes a primary source, primary sources are original materials that come directly from an individual who witnessed an event or period. Just as American soldiers' diaries are considered primary sources, images or photos and films taken during the Mindanao (Iligan) Death March will be deemed primary sources. Answer to question #2: They are not, in my opinion, fabricating things in order for us to despise the Japanese. Though we can't dismiss the potential of a subjected viewpoint, perhaps because of the hatred and sufferings they've endured at the hands of the Japanese, the reality remains that the Japanese soldiers weren't fair, resorting to brutality and horrifying violence.
Done watching, Atty. We learned a lot, thank you for your fruitful and profound discussion. I am Caed A. Santos from BSED 1C. Absolutely, we can consider the diaries of soldiers as a primary and reliable source of history. They witnessed, experienced, affirmed, and saw the war. For that, I know that they told us and wrote in their diaries the information or data that is definitely reliable. We are all aware that our soldiers are willing to give their lives for our country, therefore, these diaries are offered for our country, especially for our history. In conclusion, all of the diaries of the soldiers are absolutely considered the primary source. This historical event really signifies who we are today. Finally, they sacrifice their lives for all of us and to spread of misinformation wasn't their aim. The purpose of these diaries is to be a source of answers to questions in our history.
Done watching, Atty. Donesa. I'm so sorry for the late submission. Thankyou for understanding and Thankyou for this video who brought so much of learnings. Reobaldo, Maurine Niña C. BSED-1B As what I have learned on our past discussion, diaries and memoirs can be used as a Primary Source on establishing our History. That's why I believe that the diaries and photographs of the American Soldiers who personally witnessed, experienced and survived the Mindanao Death March can be a Primary Source on once again establishing our History. For me, American Soldiers doesn't have the intention for us to have hate against Japanese people. I think the reason why they wrote those diaries is for us to be able to know the past and to know how cruel they have experienced in the hands of the Japanese Soldiers back then. And Yes, I don't believe that these writings are all lies.
Done watching sir, thankyou for such a wonderful and fruitful lesson! 1. The Diary is one of the example of primary source because it written here the happenings on a particular day, it also tells here how they spent a day. The photographs in the diaries during that time can be considered as a primary source in my opinion. We need to find supporting documents to prove that those diaries are reliable source and if those diaries are reliable then they might consider as a primary source about our history. 2. Based on what I have read and watched, I can say that this is not just a pure lie because we can see the main streams that prove that the Death March in Mindanao is true and untainted by vandalism and lies. I can say to the American Soldiers that there is not much hatred in the Japanese to make documentaries that show their destruction and lies. Hilario, Deiren Joy, J. BSED 1C
Done watching sir! Sherry Mae A. Robles BSHM 2G Of course, we can take the journals of soldiers as a trustworthy and important source of the past. What they saw, what they went and witnessed the fighting. I am aware that they provided us with knowledge or data that is unquestionably reliable and recorded it in their diaries for this reason. We are all know that our soldiers are prepared to devote their lives in defense of their country, so these journals are being provided for it, particularly for its history. In conclusion, all of the soldiers' journals are without a doubt regarded as the primary source. We are truly who we are today because of this historical occurrence. Last but not least, they give their life in order to protect us all; spreading false information was not their intention.
Done Watching po Sir! Thanks po. CORTEZ JR. ARCE BSHM - 2G Yes, the diaries and photos of American soldiers who experienced the second world war in the Philippines can be used as primary sources in the development of Philippine history. because it can be obtained information of future generations on what happened and what happened during the second war and if the war really happened. And if it contains the painful trials of the Filipinos on the Japanese, it has also been proven by mature Filipinos that it is true that sometimes bad things happened and the Japanese did to the Filipinos. that's why because there is evidence that the contents of the American's diary really happened, as well as the photographs, it can be considered a primary source.
Done Watching po sir. 💜 WENN ESPIQUE (BSHM-2I) Yes, we can regard soldiers' journals and photos as a reliable and important source of history. Because they experienced the brutality of World War II firsthand, and I don't believe that soldiers or other wartime witnesses were responsible for instilling hatred in those individuals for the Japanese nation and its citizens. Everyone who studies Philippine history is aware of the suffering experienced by their fellow Filipinos at the hands of the Japanese at that time. We all know how cruelly the Japanese treated our fellow Filipinos when they were colonizing our nation, which is where our resentment of them comes from.
Done watching Luis Fernando Pangan Bshm-2G Thank you for learning ☺️ The fact that soldiers' diaries provide first-hand accounts of the war and their experiences with it makes them a main and trustworthy source of historical information. Since we are all aware that our soldiers would willingly lose their life in defense of our nation, these diaries are being provided for the benefit of the nation, particularly for our history. Done Watching Sir. Robert John Donesa. I've learned a lot about the History. Aaron L. Alcantara BSHM-2G Primary sources are usually defined as first hand information or data that is generated by witnesses or participants in past events. Primary sources are characterized not by their format but rather by the information they convey and their relationship to the research question. They include letters, diaries, journals, newspapers, photographs, and other immediate accounts. In my opinion, we can use written diaries and pictures to be used as primary sources for building history. Based on the video I watched, the American soldiers have left writings or diaries that they left behind and contain the events of the wars and events in wars that they witnessed and experienced. Every detail and experience they witnessed and experienced is written here. So it can be said that this can be used as primary source because every detail of what happened in the early days is related to it.
Paraiso, Angeline BSED 1B I've already watched this video a month ago. I accidentally deleted my comment about it. Thank you for this informative video Attorney! The photos and the diaries of American soldiers who experienced the second world war can be used as a primary source to shape the history of the Philippines because it contains important details that belong to the people who witnessed and experienced that event. Because of their photos and diaries, we were able to look back at the real events of the past and we also became aware of the complex truth that many Filipinos and Americans suffered and lost their lives in the hands of the violent and cruel Japanese. It is not a lie and slander against the Japanese because there is already a lot of evidences that proves what happened during the second world war was pure truth and not a lie. All the information collected are corroborated to other reliable sources. All those documents were connected and have similarities to each other so I don't think it was just a lie. Also, historical photos serves as one of the primary sources because it captured the important moments during those times. It shows that many Filipinos and Americans experienced the brutality of the Japanese empire.
Done Watching. Thank you so much for this informative video lesson, Attorney.
Thank you for this video and knowledge you gave to us Atty. Donesa!! GWYNETH ASHLEY VISDA BSHM 2-G 1.
Done watching. Thank you po! Juela Ryzel B. Baggay BSA - 2A 1.
Done watching Atty. Donesa! Thank you so much po. De Leon, Iana Khay F. BSED 1-C These historical documents, such as photographs, diaries, and other items, could be regarded as primary sources. These can help us comprehend the past. However, we should select those with validity on their own as primary sources. These first-hand accounts could aid in our comprehension of historical event progression. The historical primary sources were created by the individuals who experienced the events and wrote about, told, and took photographs because they were a part of that history. We may connect the dots that show how history shaped from their point of view, those could say who we are today as we look at primary sources. Our nation, its experiences, and its people are built by history. Additionally, to fully comprehend that particular period of history without being misinformed.
Done watching sir Thank you po MARC VINCENT CARLOS BSHM 2-G When writing the history of the Philippines, I personally like to utilize the diaries and photographs that the American soldiers who survived World War II left behind as primary sources since they are trustworthy and meet all of the criteria for a primary source. The World War II military diaries and photos that have been viewed are recognized as primary sources, in my opinion. Since I believe we should all have been aware of this, this is not a lie. Additionally, there are a few things we should always keep in mind and take into account because they are really advantageous. By observing these facts, we can educate ourselves and learn from them.

Done watching sir RICARDO A. NODALO JR BSHM 2G Yes, the diaries and photographs of American soldiers who served in the Philippines during WWII can be used as primary sources in the study of Philippine history. because future generations can learn about what happened and what happened during the Second World War, and if the war actually occurred. And, while it contains the painful trials of the Filipinos against the Japanese, mature Filipinos have proven that bad things do happen and the Japanese do to the Filipinos. As a result, it can be considered a primary source because there is evidence that the contents of the American's diary, as well as the photographs, occurred.
Done Watching Sir, thankyou po Babylou Lomboy from BSHM2G 1. Yes, the diaries and photos of American soldiers who experienced the second world war in the Philippines can be used as a primary source because they themselves were in the situation and are detailed and have evidence that it can support people who are gathering real information. During that time. 2. I can't say it's full of slander and lies, there were so many who experienced it at that time so it's hard to gather evidence that proves it's just slander, In my opinion there are many photos and diaries that others haven't seen that are just hidden and I'm sure of that is pure truth, because vandalism or forgery was not fashionable then
Done watching, I learned a lot atty, thankyou for the wonderful and fruitful lesson. I am Ma. Fatima Diaz from BSED 1B Yes, we can consider the diaries and pictures from the soldiers as a primary source, because as what I've learned primary source can be a diary or a memoir of a person who experience and witnessed it. Because of that we are aware from the past, and we can over look it to develop, build and raise our own identity as a filipino. I don't think those american soldiers who survive the war will make up that diaries for us to believe them and make us hate those japanese, what they experienced is something traumatic that we can't take it as a joke or question it because we are not in the war in the first place, what they did is for us to know and learn from the past.
Done watching! Thank you so much, Attorney. Donesa for the highly informative and fruitful video discussion about the Mindanao Death March. I learned a lot! Nayomi C. Capacia From BSED-1C Are the diaries written by the American soldiers from the Mindanao Death March considered or called a primary source? Absolutely. Because they first-handedly witnessed or even possibly experienced the oppression, abuse and downgrading treatment of the Japanese Soldiers to their fellow Americans and even towards the Filipinos. Because based on what we have learned so far about what is considered to be a Primary Source and a Secondary Source, Primary Sources are the carefully preserved raw materials or first-hand pieces of evidence that are from a certain event that is now a big part of the History or even from the people who experienced it themselves. And just like how the diaries of the American Soldiers are considered a Primary Source, the photographs or the photos and videos captured from the Mindanao (Iligan) Death March will pass as a Primary Source that we could use to prove that there is indeed a Mindanao Death March that happened in the Philippines on the 4th of July in the year 1942. As long as these types of evidence such as diaries and journals passed through the internal and external criticism of sources, then the authenticity and historicity of these documents will be proved if not; will remain trustworthy and primary sources and evidence of History. And regarding the question about whether the possibility of the American Soldiers filling the sheets of their diaries with lies just to spite the Japanese people and to lie to the Filipinos for it to be the cause of revision in History and for us to also spite the Japanese on their behalf, I don’t think that was what happened. Though it is undeniably possible in many aspects, I do not think that was what urged the American Soldiers to write these diaries. I think whatever it is that is in their diaries, It was what they are feeling at that time and writing in their diaries served as a coping mechanism and became their refuge from the brutal war that happened back then. And in my opinion, writing and composing lies would just be downright nonsense because it is nearly impossible that they are such in a delirious condition or state that the thought of other people surviving this event and passing on whatever truly happened in the Mindanao Death March would not cross their minds. So I don’t think the American Soldiers made up lies about occurrences that happened at this certain unforgettable Death March.
Done Watching, I learned a lot from this video that I can apply for all aspects of my life! Mark Harry Melencio Parado BSED1B I wholeheartedly believe that military diaries are a vital and trustworthy source of history. Because they observed, encountered established, and experienced the battle within their lifetime. With that, I believe they informed us and recorded in their diaries details or facts that we may appreciate. We are all conscious that our soldiers are prepared to devote their life for our nation; so, these diaries are presented for the benefit of our country, particularly its heritage. Finally, all of the soldiers' journals are unquestionably regarded primary sources. This historical event epitomizes what we are now. In the end, they give their life for all of us, and spreading deception was not their intention. These diaries are meant to serve a purpose to see the beauty of our own history.
Done watching, Atty. Donesa! I learned a lot about Mindanao Death March. BREN, KIMBERLY ANNE M. BSED 1A Because their diaries and photographs are reliable and connect all the requirements for primary sources, we can use them to create the history of the Philippines. This is because American soldiers who survived World War II in the Philippines left these individuals behind. Thus, despite the fact that they were not published or documented by the Filipinos themselves, we are able to infer from this that their diaries and photographs can serve as primary sources for the history of our nation. They weren't particularly near to one another during every moment of the event, in my opinion. The reason I make is that they are all clearly too busy trying to live and thrive to have the time or ability to discuss criticizing the Japanese in general on each of their notes. Most importantly, they had no idea at the time if they would live or die. They don't even know if their diaries and photos will survive the conflict, or even be viewed and discovered by people in the future. Things made of paper might quickly get ruined or torched at any time, considering their present situation. We are all aware of how cruelly the Japanese treated us, which is why we are very upset with them.
Sanchez, Nicole Rain C. Done Watching po Atty!!🤍 My personal preference is to use the diaries and photographs that the American soldiers who survived World War II left behind as primary sources when writing the history of the Philippines because their diaries and photographs are reliable and satisfy all the requirements for a primary source. I believe that the World War II military photographs and diaries that have been seen are regarded as primary sources. Because in my opinion, we should all have known about this, thus this is not a lie. Additionally, there are some things that we should always remember and consider because they are very, very beneficial. We can learn from and enlighten ourselves by observing these facts.
Thankyou for sharing with us the untold story of the Iligan Death March Atty! You did contribute a valuable information on our history. Alessandra Verde Veneracion BSA 2A 1. I have good reasons to believe that the published memoirs, video interviews, and diaries of the four American POWs who survived and took part in the Iligan (also known as Mindanao) death march will be sufficient to prove and shed light on one of the two death marches that took place in our nation's history. We can now use these primary sources to help us develop and build our identity by shedding and giving life to one account of our history, despite the fact that these sources were published online and had questionable credibility before being validated by our historians. The authors of our primary sources, which passed the internal and external criticism, were the same people who survived the Iligan death march. It was through their personal narrative that we were guided and taught of the gruesome war that took place in Mindanao. The reasons why we identify the diaries of the American POWs as primary sources is due to the fact that the identified authors were confirmed survivors of the WWII Mindanao Death March. The American survivors clearly confirmed in their notes, memoirs and given interviews the gory details of what happened in the Mindanao Death March. Clearly, it is an evidenced of the existence of the said incident. After a cross verification, we can safely say from then on that all of the sources were assessed to be relevant, reliable and accurate. 2. As I have said on my previous answer, the primary sources that we have gathered in revealing the untold story of our Filipino and American soldiers who surrendered but unfortunately - still was tortured by the Japanese soldiers during the Mindanao death march were evaluated and cross-validated by researchers and historian, therefore, everything that we have learned from the said topic is not biased, and doesn't promote hate to the Japanese soldiers. I believe that the hatred or any ill feelings the Filipinos have towards the Japanese were not only because of the inhumane act done during the Iligan death march, or the one that took place in Bataan, but also because of the piled up information we garnered by reading our Philippine history. It is disrespectful to claim, or even assume that the personal narratives of the American POWs who suffered through a traumatic experience were nothing more than lies and defamation in order to despise the Japanese people. History weren't written down to throw hate on the people of one's nation. History was written downbto help identify, establish and strengthen the identity of a nation. Lastly, and I believe in this very strongly, history was recorded so we are not bound to repeat it.

• Yes, the diary of the American soldiers who experienced the second world war in the Philippines can be used as a primary source because they were there when that war took place, they just escaped from the tortures they suffered in the afternoons and because there was no modern technology used at that time they their diaries to publish the abominable events they witnessed at the hands of the afternoons. • This is not just a lie, because they could not write the contents of the diary if they did not witness and experience it, it is difficult to create or invent a story especially if the American soldiers and Filipinos have enough proof of how they are suffering in hand of the afternoons. Done watching. Dellamas, Joebert Q. BSED -1A Yes. The best primary sources for learning about history from American soldiers who served in World War II are diaries and photographs. These opinions on the fight provide important details on what it was like for individuals who gave their lives in defense of our freedom. Therefore, photographs capture moments in time that provide visual evidence of what life was like during World War II. They depict the sights and sounds that soldiers encountered on the battlefield, as well as their interactions with civilians and other soldiers, including the destruction brought on by bombings or the comradery among soldiers. Diaries provide a glimpse into the daily lives of soldiers, detailing their thoughts and feelings about their surroundings, fellow soldiers, and the enemy.
Done watching. We learned a lot, thankyou for such a wonderful lesson atty. Donesa. ❤️ Mallari, Mikaella D. BSHM2-G Yes, we can consider the diaries and photographs of soldiers as a primary and trustworthy source of history. Because they witnessed, saw and experienced the cruelty of World War ll. And I don't think soldiers or witnesses of the war made those things to hate japanese country and it's people. All filipinos who study the history of the Philippines know how our fellow filipinos suffered under Japanese hand back then. The anger we feel towards Japanese rooted, because we all know how cruel their treatment was to our fellow filipino during that time they colonized our country. ❤
Done watching po, Sir Donesa. For me, there is always a reason to be enraged if you clearly know what happen. So I don't think that it's just defamation against the Japanese but rather its just the plain truth about what happen during that time. Because most of our own blood and our allies are suffering badly during that Death March to just say it's just a made up story. But then, we should still find the exact truth of what happen and confirm if the findings are proven facts.

Done watching, thank you so much attorney! Ortega, Jan Yuri BSED 1-A The diaries of the soldiers from America can be used as a primary source, because they experienced and witnessed the war. The contents of the diary and pictures passed the external and internal criticism of experts, thus making it a credible source in studying our history. The author of the said diaries and memoirs does not promote hate or any ill will towards the Japanese. They only wrote about the cruelty of the Japanese soldiers to the surrendered army of America and Philippines. I am sure that there are some people who still harbor hatred towards the Japanese. Hatred must be the first thing that comes to our mind when we read about the atrocities committed by the Japanese to our ancestors, but we now live in a peaceful world so we should learn to forgive but never forget. We should learn from the mistakes of our ancestors and try to live in harmony and peace.
Done watching sir Thank you po RAVEN J LAGUNA BSHM 2-G Since they are reliable and satisfy all of the requirements for a primary source, I personally prefer to use the diaries and photographs that the American soldiers who survived World War II left behind while writing the history of the Philippines. I believe that the photographs and military diaries from World War II are accepted as primary sources. This is not a lie because I think we should all have known this. There are a few additional considerations that we should always keep in mind because they are really beneficial. We can educate ourselves and get knowledge from these facts by observing them.
Done watching, Atty. I learned a lot! Joshua T. Mangubat Bsa 2-A Diaries and photos of American Soldiers who not just witnessed but more importantly personally participated and survived in the Mindanao death march can be considered a primary source for establishing our history. There are very few people who survived that have the opportunity to tell their stories of this brutal torture. Even though they are not Filipino the stories of a few who survived gave us the truth of what the Filipino soldiers experienced in that torturous event. Although these diaries are considered a primary source, we can’t ignore the fact that they may contain subjective input from the soldiers like their hatred of the Japanese. That’s why cross-examination or verifying its content from other sources is important.

I believe their statements are unlikely to be false. It can be seen how their stories connect with one another, which is enough to prove the realness of their words. Aside from that, there are also some Filipino natives who also witnessed the cruelty of the Japanese back then, which supported the stories of those who were abused.
Done watching sir! Thank you for the presentation, I learned a lot, Atty. Donesa. Barcena, Pamela Kaye B. BSHM-2G 1.

Done watching. Thank you po BSHM-2G BOLISAY RONALYN E Because they were present during and witnessed the war, the American soldiers' diaries can be utilized as a primary source. The diary's and the photos' contents have withstood skilled internal and external scrutiny, making them a reliable source for research into our history. The author of the aforementioned memoirs and diaries does not advocate prejudice or hostility toward the Japanese. They solely wrote about the atrocities committed by Japanese forces against the American and Philippine armies that had to surrender. I have no doubt that some people still carry animosity for the Japanese. When we read about the atrocities committed by the Japanese against our ancestors, hatred must be the first emotion that comes to mind. However, since we now live in a peaceful world, we should learn to forgive while never forgetting, as well as from the mistakes of our ancestors, and strive to live in harmony and peace
Done watching, thank you so much, we learned a lot Atty. Catherine Bragais BSED1C The diaries and the war journals and even the pictures from the American soldiers who stay in the Philippines can be considered as a primary source of information. This can be used to understand more what happened to the history in the Philippines. Because these war journals and pictures from the American soldiers cannot be tampered with. But the diary itself, it needs a lot of supporting documents to prove that everything written in the diary was correct and accurate. These sources were considered the primary source because these sources were original from the war and soldiers itself.

I'm done watching, sir. Thank you for this informative video lesson! Yes, I think the diaries and pictures of the soldiers in World War II are considered primary sources since they are the ones who are in the place where the war happened and they experienced it firsthand. I don't think the soldiers will make up something that important just for fun or just for us to hate the Japanese people, so I think it's true and reliable. Done watching sir Almanzor, Rommel G. BSHM-2G Yes, the diaries and photographs of American soldiers who served in the Philippines during WWII can be used as primary sources in the construction of Philippine history. These sources provide first-hand accounts and experiences of foreign soldiers during their struggle in the Philippines, and can provide information about events, perspectives, and experiences of Filipinos during that time. However, it is important to consider the foreign perspective of these soldiers and the possibility of cultural differences, bias, and inaccuracies in their descriptions of events. It is important to also seek out other primary sources from Filipinos who also experienced the war in order to have a more comprehensive and complete picture of Philippine history.
Done watching, Sir Santos Sheyne S. Bsed 1C for me yes, because the diary and photo can be a kind of primary source, but it is not complete or the whole truth. American soldiers had their own perspectives, experiences, and interests that could affect what they wrote in their diaries or the photos they took. There may be bias, selective presentation of information, or interpretation that may not be entirely truthful or not entirely objective. the treatment of the Japanese today is not only based on the current anger associated with the documents.
Done Watching sir, I learn a lot thank you for this another informative video. Villoria, Paulo S. BSA 2-A Yes, the diaries and photos of American soldiers can be used as the main true primary source of Philippines historical because there is a lot of evidence and it is not a lie because there are witnesses to the Second World War. and It was part of the campaign to liberate the Philippines during World War II. The battle was waged to complete the recapture of the southern most portions of the archipelago from the Imperial Japanese Army. My most important take away was this, there was a lot of hardship that none of us will ever have to endure because of the heroes that went before and paid the price of freedom for us.
Done watching, thank you so much Atty! we learned a lot! Rachelle Tolentino BSED 1-C Yes, the diaries kept by the soldiers during the war can be a primary source of history .Their diaries and photographs, which they used to document the horrible conflict they encountered firsthand, help to show us the truth about what actually transpired and what happened at the time rather than simply fiction. The soldiers or heroes with first-hand knowledge did not intend to instill hatred in future generations; rather, they merely wanted us to understand the true nature of the conflict. Our hate towards the Japanese is directed more towards the past actions of the former Japanese empire rather than the Japanese individuals themselves. The brutality of their regime during World War II was widely witnessed. It would not be fair to hold any grudge against the Japanese people, and we should extend our kindness and pardon towards them. Although the Japanese caused grievous harm to American and Filipino soldiers in the past, we must acknowledge that it is now part of history. It is crucial to learn from such atrocities and brutalities to prevent their recurrence.

Done watching. Thank you for this informative video lesson, Attorney. Banzon, Jiselle S. BSED 1B The photos and diaries of American soldiers can be used as a primary source because they saw, witnessed, and survived the death march. Even if the information that took place in the Iligan Death March came from the Americans, I still believed that we can identify it as a primary source. This is just one of those who built the history of the Philippines, even though the past was not good it is for Filipinos to be open-minded. In my opinion, the diaries they wrote are not lies because who can forget the tragedy they experienced? The memories of killing and seeing lifeless corpses, the gunfire, and the suffering of each other. Most people know what the Filipinos went through at the hands of the Japanese back then, that many died and the events were not good so I believe that the stories in the diary and pictures regarding the Iligan Death March are true.
Done watching atty, thankyou po! OCAMPO, ROCHEL G. BSHM-2G Based on what I watched regarding the Mindanao (Iligan) Death March, I can say that the diaries and American soldiers who experienced the Second World War in the Philippines can be used as a primary source (main historical stream) in the development of Philippine History. because they wrote it themselves. They saw, witnessed, and experienced firsthand the cruelty and oppression of the foreign invaders during the Second World War in the Philippines which caused the death of many people. During the Second World War in the Philippines, they saw, heard, and personally experienced the brutality and persecution of the foreign invaders, which resulted in numerous fatalities. Given that we have specifically discussed the events they saw and went through during that period, I do not believe the American soldiers would lie about something so horrific that had happened to them. I believe it to be true and reliable because I don't believe the soldiers would make up something so significant for us to despise the Japanese people or just for fun. Additionally, all Filipinos who have studied or heard about Philippine history are aware of the suffering that our fellow Filipinos endured under Japanese rule at the time.
Ma Meilyne Junina M Agapito BSED A1 The diaries and pictures can be use as primary source because it is belong to the 4 American POWs who participated in the said death march and survived the gruesome war and narrated their experience. The 4 American POWs is present at the event of illigan death march they are prisoners of war Yet even the primary sources are available online with the support of contemporary documents and the Tokyo War Crimes Trials prove that illigan death march really occurred. I don’t reckon that American defamation to the japanese owning to the fact that Americans only wrote what they experienced in illigan death march . Even us Filipino are aware of how gruesome the Japanese soldiers are.
Done watching, thank you so much sir. Anislag, Angel B. BSED 1-C The memoir, books and photograph from the POWs can be a primary sources. Due to the fact that it's from the soldiers who witnessed and experience the war firsthand. These primary sources helps us understand what happened in the past. Therefore, I don't think that soldiers who experience the war firsthand would made a stories just for us despise Japanese. All living neither deceased people who experienced being colonized by the Japanese know how cruel they were to our people especially to our womans.
I'm done watching, Atty. Donesa. I have learned a lot. Thank you for sharing this enlightening video lesson! Because, as we all know, soldiers are supposedly one of the most important people who have seen everything in World War II, and because their pictures and diaries are some of the many pieces of information and data that are considered to be legal and legitimate reasons for how and why they are considered to be primary sources, in my own way of understanding, I think the pictures and diaries of the soldiers in World War II that have been seen are considered primary sources. It is not a falsehood, in my opinion. We all ought to have been aware of these. Joking about this won't make us more of who we are. When acquiring and understanding information regarding something, we should always keep in mind and take into account factors that are extremely and tremendously beneficial. We can learn more about them by taking these observable facts and enlightening things into account. This isn't only about how we perceive things; it's also about how we collect them and let everyone know they are what they were intended to be. Gonzales, Angela DC. | BSED-1A

It provides detailed evidence of what happened during the war and can help the present-day Filipino understand the history of the Japanese invasion and how much the people sacrificed to free the Philippines from the Japanese. The diary is written by the American soldiers during the war and is similar to that of other soldiers, indicating the truth about it. It is also a private possession of the soldiers, so those reading it would have knowledge about what is happening. The Japanese were very cruel at that time, so keeping a diary was a way for soldiers to express what they felt during those times of loneliness. The Filipinos' anger is justified because of how cruelly the Japanese treated Filipinos before, and this anger shows how much the Filipinos cared and understood the cruelty, and it lets the present-day Filipino know how brave the soldiers and people fighting for the Philippines were at that time.
Done watching, Thank you so much Attorney. Henri Cyril Flores BSED 1A Yes, the diaries of the soldiers from the War can be a primary source of history. As they witnessed and experienced the cruel war, their diaries and pictures serves and shows us what was the real story and what happened during those times, it is not just made up stories. The soldiers or the heroes who have the first hand experiences did not wish to bring hate for the future generations, they just want us to know the real story of the war. We don't really hate Japanese these days, we hate what are the old Japanese empire did back then. Their cruelty showed in the World War II and anyone witnessed it. We cannot blame anyone who have grudge against the Japanese but we need to forgive and spread love among them. It is the truth that the Japanese did gruesome things to our Filipino soldiers and American soldiers but it is just history now and we need to learn to them and not to repeat those mistakes and cruelty of the past.
Done watching, thank you po sir! Flores, Herschel R. BSED 1-A We can use the diaries and photographs that the American soldiers (who survived the World War II in the Philippines) left as primary sources in composing the history of the Philippines for the reason that their diaries and photographs are valid and had met all the qualifications for a primary source to be considered. First of all, we can be sure that the diaries and photographs were written or taken during the event. Particularly the diaries, as they have exact dates of when was those notes were written. Moreover, since no Filipinos present in the event have been able to write or left records for us pertaining to the said event, the only closest and strongest physical evidence and source we could use to say that the Mindanao Death March really did happen where the records left by the American soldiers. Hence, through this, we could definitely conclude that their diaries and photographs can be used as primary sources for the history of our country even though they were not written or recorded by the Filipinos itself. I do not think the American soldiers would lie about something so terrible that happened to them, and especially if we have particularly talked about the details that they have witnessed and experienced during that time. They ultimately experienced the catastrophe of war. Actually, I think no one would have the audacity to lie about something like that. In addition, there are lots of American soldiers who have written about the event. With so many people participating in the Death March, I do not think they were all closely together with each other the whole time of the event. My point is, they obviously do not have the time and ability to discuss defaming the Japanese altogether on each of their notes, as they are all already busy trying to live and survive. Most of all, they didn't even know at that time whether they would survive or not. Meaning they aren't even sure their diaries and photographs could make it through the war, be seen and found by others later on. Thinking about their situation, things made of paper could easily be destroyed or burned anytime. The anger we feel towards the Japanese rooted because we all know how cruel their treatment was to our Filipino ancestors during the time they colonized our country.
Done watching, Sir. We learned a lot, thank you for such a wonderful and fruitful lesson Escribel, Raver G. BSED 1-B Yes, the diaries of soldiers from the Second World War can be a primary and trustworthy source of history. knowing the fact that they witnessed the cruelty that war brings and fought in it themselves. I don't think that soldiers, or rather the witnesses of the Second World War, made those things up just so that we would hate the Japanese country and its people. We all know that many people died, and there are still a lot of native Filipinos who witnessed the cruelty the Japanese empire brought back then.
Done watching Reyes, Jennilyn DM. BSED-1A Yes, diaries and photos can be used as a primary source because it has always been used by most people especially when soldiers, they write in their diaries proof that this is what happened to them in one day. Since we are aware that many people passed away, the journal serves as proof of what occurred previously, and as our understanding of history grows, I do not believe it to be an insult.
Done watching. Calago, Jhoana Mae F. The diary is one of the example of primary source because it written here the happenings on a particular day, it also tells here how they spent a day. So, it happens that American soldiers diaries' are being kept, it means, there's a proof of happenings in World War II. Though there's an evidence, we can't tell which one is true but my 75% belief goes to one's having a real and readable proof.
Done watching sir! Valencia chris allen O. Bshm-2G Soldiers' wartime diaries can serve as important historical sources. Their journals and photographs, which they used to document and document the horrible conflict, help to show us the truth about what actually occurred and what happened at the time rather than just making up lies. The soldiers or heroes with first-hand knowledge did not intend to instill hatred in future generations; rather, they merely wanted us to be aware of the truth about the conflict. These days, our animosity toward Japanese people is more focused on the actions of the former Japanese empire. Anyone who was around saw their ruthlessness during World War II.
Done watching sir ❤️ Mañozo Friends R. However, it's important to note that American soldier diaries and photographs should be used along with other primary sources, such as Philippine accounts and records, to provide a more comprehensive and balanced understanding of the historical events and experiences. These primary sources can offer insightful first-person accounts of the events, circumstances, and experiences during the war in the Philippines from the perspective of American soldiers.

Answer to question #1:
Yes.
Answer to question #2:
They are not, in my opinion, fabricating things in order for us to despise the Japanese. Though we can't dismiss the potential of a subjected viewpoint, perhaps because of the hatred and sufferings they've endured at the hands of the Japanese, the reality remains that the Japanese soldiers weren't fair, resorting to brutality and horrifying violence.

As what I have learned on our past discussion, diaries and memoirs can be used as a Primary Source on establishing our History.

Yes, the diaries and photos of American soldiers who experienced the second world war in the Philippines can be used as primary sources in the development of Philippine history. because it can be obtained information of future generations on what happened and what happened during the second war and if the war really happened.

Yes, we can regard soldiers' journals and photos as a reliable and important source of history.

Primary sources are usually defined as first hand information or data that is generated by witnesses or participants in past events.

Yes, the diaries and photographs of American soldiers who served in the Philippines during WWII can be used as primary sources in the study of Philippine history. because future generations can learn about what happened and what happened during the Second World War, and if the war actually occurred. And, while it contains the painful trials of the Filipinos against the Japanese, mature Filipinos have proven that bad things do happen and the Japanese do to the Filipinos. As a result, it can be considered a primary source because there is evidence that the contents of the American's diary, as well as the photographs, occurred.

Yes, we can consider the diaries and pictures from the soldiers as a primary source, because as what I've learned primary source can be a diary or a memoir of a person who experience and witnessed it.

Are the diaries written by the American soldiers from the Mindanao Death March considered or called a primary source?

I wholeheartedly believe that military diaries are a vital and trustworthy source of history.

Because their diaries and photographs are reliable and connect all the requirements for primary sources, we can use them to create the history of the Philippines.

Yes.

And I don't think soldiers or witnesses of the war made those things to hate japanese country and it's people. For me, there is always a reason to be enraged if you clearly know what happen. So I don't think that it's just defamation against the Japanese but rather its just the plain truth about what happen during that time. Because most of our own blood and our allies are suffering badly during that Death March to just say it's just a made up story.

Diaries and photos of American Soldiers who not just witnessed but more importantly personally participated and survived in the Mindanao death march can be considered a primary source for establishing our history.

Because they were present during and witnessed the war, the American soldiers' diaries can be utilized as a primary source. 1.

The diaries and the war journals and even the pictures from the American soldiers who stay in the Philippines can be considered as a primary source of information.

Also, all Filipinos who study or have heard of the history of the Philippines are aware of how our fellow Filipinos suffered under Japanese command back then.

Yes, the diaries and photographs of American soldiers who served in the Philippines during WWII can be used as primary sources in the construction of Philippine history. It is important to also seek out other primary sources from Filipinos who also experienced the war in order to have a more comprehensive and complete picture of Philippine history.

for me yes, because the diary and photo can be a kind of primary source, but it is not complete or the whole truth.

Yes, the diaries and photos of American soldiers can be used as the main true primary source of Philippines historical because there is a lot of evidence and it is not a lie because there are witnesses to the Second World War.
and It was part of the campaign to liberate the Philippines during World War II. The battle was waged to complete the recapture of the southern most portions of the archipelago from the Imperial Japanese Army.
My most important take away was this, there was a lot of hardship that none of us will ever have to endure because of the heroes that went before and paid the price of freedom for us.

Yes, the diaries kept by the soldiers during the war can be a primary source of history .Their diaries and photographs, which they used to document the horrible conflict they encountered firsthand, help to show us the truth about what actually transpired and what happened at the time rather than simply fiction.

The photos and diaries of American soldiers can be used as a primary source because they saw, witnessed, and survived the death march.

Based on what I watched regarding the Mindanao (Iligan) Death March, I can say that the diaries and American soldiers who experienced the Second World War in the Philippines can be used as a primary source (main historical stream) in the development of Philippine History. because they wrote it themselves.

The diaries and pictures can be use as primary source because it is belong to the 4 American POWs who participated in the said death march and survived the gruesome war and narrated their experience.

The diaries and photographs of American soldiers left behind are primary sources because they were taken during the Ikalawang Digmaan ng Pilipinas.

Yes, the diaries of the soldiers from the War can be a primary source of history.

We can use the diaries and photographs that the American soldiers (who survived the World War II in the Philippines) left as primary sources in composing the history of the Philippines for the reason that their diaries and photographs are valid and had met all the qualifications for a primary source to be considered.

Yes, the diaries of soldiers from the Second World War can be a primary and trustworthy source of history. knowing the fact that they witnessed the cruelty that war brings and fought in it themselves.
I don't think that soldiers, or rather the witnesses of the Second World War, made those things up just so that we would hate the Japanese country and its people. We all know that many people died, and there are still a lot of native Filipinos who witnessed the cruelty the Japanese empire brought back then.

Yes, diaries and photos can be used as a primary source because it has always been used by most people especially when soldiers, they write in their diaries proof that this is what happened to them in one day.
Since we are aware that many people passed away, the journal serves as proof of what occurred previously, and as our understanding of history grows, I do not believe it to be an insult.
