I have always had thick curly hair until the past couple months. I’ve lost almost all my hair. I know this video is older and you may not see this comment ever but THANK YOU! The coming out section was very very helpful to me. I wasn’t sure on how to react to people at work. This has been so emotional and devastating to loose almost all my hair.
@@DebbieSparrow it's definitely not a waste of money. Once you find a wig that you love, it change your whole life. Watch wig videos for tips and prices and start off with one wig. Many times they are on sale. I hope this helps 😊
Same here. My hair was past my waist and I lost almost all of it after having covid twice. What hair I had left is so damaged and thin, I had no choice other then to buy a wig. Good luck to you.
@@rizzypatriot3212- wow! I had covid- then a close death of one- too much! Glad I found Taz! I made big mistake buying a couple wigs off Ebay- Ha-- they show designer pictures for cheap price! You end up getting a horrible imitation of a mismatched mess! I didn't know where to turn to or buy from! I know now that I 've seen wigs run in over thou! And sooo many colors! Watching this site more,,,,Love her style and the more blondish wig colors she picks out! Wish I had some! Gotta start somewhere,,,hate to return a wig, cos I made a bad choice and looks terrible on!!! How do you make the right choice? Gotta learn to style it and trim it maybe? I want one- shake it and put it on and there ya gooooo...
I see this was created 4yrs ago... but holy moly this is what I needed to hear. I hope you realize how THIS 37 minutes you took to share is life changing to ME and most likely tons of others who are ashamed of their natural hair (or lack thereof) you are a blessing♥️
You are so awesome. My hair is my identity. There’s not anywhere that I go that I get 1-5 compliments on my hair, even from men. After having COVID my hair fell out at a rapid rate. The way you talk about wearing wigs and your journey has been helpful beyond words. I am now better equipped to find a wig and to prepare myself to actually wear one.
Sitting here crying listening to this. I have worn wigs since my head was shaved when I broke my neck. I have had so much shame with it and everything you are talking about. I needed to hear all this. Thank you so much Taz. You are so precious. I have a whole new perspective on this now because of you.
Oh, I do hope you are better now. Wigs can be an obsession for you, a good one. Whatever your problem, mine is male pattern baldness, wigs are your friend, and you can have great looking hair most any time. Strangers have actually stopped me to tell me they love my hair and that never happened to me in many years.
Oh my gosh! How can anyone criticize you and the compassionate advice, guidance and support for anyone with hair loss and issues! Just saw this and you are phenomenal! 🌹🌹🌹🌹Love and respect from Seattle
Appreciate your openness and sensitivity--and, buying that *first* wig is emotional! I didn't know that, encountered a couple upsets having to do with "expectations" of the sales company--so, this was good to hear. I have two wigs. The first time I wore one out I determined I would appear confident and not assume others imagined I was wearing a wig. I got looks from three men, two clerks who assked to assist me--and met a friend who couldn't figure out what was different. The big test was wearing the 2nd wig out with my kids and in-laws--and former sister-in-law (auntie): NO ONE had a clue it was a wig! When my former sister-in-law complimented me on my hair, I said, "Christine, this isn't your mother's wig!" She couldn't believe it! It was fun!
I think you are a genuine, beautiful and kind woman. I'm sorry if anyone has given you grief over any of your videos. I'm 59 now and already had thin, fine hair - after having COVID this past summer, I lost a lot of it and I'm very self-conscious; I've just started looking into starting with a topper and will probably move on to wigs at some point. I've been watching LOTS of TH-cam on the topic and have found yours to be just the right fit for me. I've shared this video with my older sister who has been depressed over her own hair loss and I just know this is the way to revive her spirit. Thank you for the effort you put in to these videos. Much appreciated! Hugs to you!
I wish every wig shop would sit potential new wig wearers down and have them watch this. I remember the first time I wore a wig to work and mostly everyone thought it was great and didn't know it was a wig, or didn't mention the "wig" part. But their was one witch that was determined to "out me". She would stand over me as I was on my computer and stare down on top of my head, etc. It was miserable for me, actually tramatic. I went to a highly recommended wig shop and let her suggest styles for me based on my face shape, and if my face would light up when she put a style on. That was an amazing experience. Years later, I don't care if you know I'm wearing a wig. I love wigs. My hair goes through very very thin/scalp showing/no bags to more hair and can do well without. It is what it is and I'm prepare to be beautiful either way.
There is so much shame around female hair loss and it has been one of the most difficult things I've ever been through. Love you Taz, you motivate me to be positive and inspire me to have fun with wigs!
Hi Taz, Thank you for being an agent of change, a wig ambassador and an empowerment advocate for those folks who have hair loss for whatever reason. I donate my hair. I grow it out only to shear it all off. The stylist picked up the wrong clippers and ended up shearing me so I said "its ok, just take it all off, it will grow back". I then began investigating wigs to wear while it grows. Unlike most, I dove in. I watched a couple dozen wig videos on TH-cam and ordered one! I must have gotten really lucky. I did not measure my head, I did not agonize over color or style and I paid no attention to the presenter and comparing myself with them. I wore it out in public the very first time I put it on. I felt great! I purchased two completely different wigs and love them both. My c'est la vie attitude no doubt comes from the fact that I have never suffered severe hair loss though I did lose half of my hair to menopause and it is still considered thick by most people. So, now that I am wanting more wigs, funnily, I now agonize over color and style and size because I am discovering so many of the designers and find they are all so very different! I apparently have a pea-sized head after measuring it. I thought it was normal to have sizable gaps all over. This is a huge struggle. Now that I have become educated, I have also become more discerning but this is also an amazing experience of freedom! Oh and whenever I get compliments on my *hair,* I always say...."and guess what? This fabulous hair is wig!" Sometimes it is a person who clearly does not have thick luscious hair and I always hope that my joy will help them feel brave enough to embark on their own wig adventure.
I’ve seen your photo in wig ads. When I saw you on a TH-cam, I instantly clicked on it. I appreciate this video so much. I already bought two and was so disappointed. Months later, I am now waiting for another in the Mail. I know this video has taught me a new way to go about this. Than you so much. I look forward to watching more videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 💕
You are inspirational! I am a burn victim with spaces of no hair on my head and have been able to make it with my bio hair, but as I am getting older you have helped me decide to go ahead with wigs…and start my journey….which I should have done a long time ago!! 🥰❤️ thank you!
Ive been wearing wigs for over 20 yrs and it has always been with a hat. It is so irritating. I irritate myself. lol. I just watched this again, and you are so great Taz. You really help people. I am putting a list together for my friend to watch of yours, and you are just a gift from God for all of us.
I wore my hair topper out to a business appt and I just did it. The wind even blew while we were walking to my car and I just rolled with it. I think the stigma of wig wearing is not such a big deal anymore. More and more people are opting to wear hair pieces and wigs it seems. It is what it is, I just have not gone to a full wig yet. My anxiety of my thinning hair outweighs my fear of wearing a wig in public. My next step...this video was perfect for me!
Love this!!! My wig journey began due to a hair cut disaster literally two days before my 30th high school reunion! I happen to go for a quick trim on my already pixi cut and was butured and almost cancelled this special trip. A dear friend who has worn wigs for years came to my rescue and got me through the emotions and into a cute wig for my reunion. I got so many compliments on my hair which made me feel sooo good!! I've always struggled with my hair ...very fine and a bald spot from birth that I struggled to cover all my life. I'm now so excited waiting for my first lace wig...united..and am embracing the fun and freedom I finally have. I'm also a teacher and was first nervous about being around teens all day...but I feel beautiful which the kids see and have no problem sharing my story!!! Thank you for all of your amazing videos!!!
Deanna Tonn I got goosebumps reading your comments! You are transformed. Perfectly described as FUN AND FREEDOM. And your positive attitude towards it filters through to your toughest critics..teeens! Love this story.. thank you for sharing. Blessings, TAZ
I love your videos and analogous about wigs...they are the best! I’ve been wearing them for years and years... if someone says are you wearing a wig I tell them I am...what is the shame in that?? You look younger in a wig...I feel more confident in a wig...I save money in coloring my hair when I wear a wig...there is absolutely nothing shameful in wearing a wig!! Just like getting hair extensions...acrylic nails..etc..etc!!.
Great video! I don't understand the stigma and reluctance about wearing wigs. There is nothing wrong with my bio hair, but I love to be able to not have to fuss sometimes or for the convenience like when on vacation or something. Wigs let you change your look effortlessly. Most of the time people just think my hair looks great! :-) Back in the late 60's, "falls" and hairpieces were very popular and nobody thought of it as a big deal to wear them, but that seems to have changed in later years. There is nothing more fake than tattoos, yet they are accepted for the most part now, even on women. And as someone else pointed out, fake nails are everywhere and everyone knows it. We need to start getting getting over this wig and hairpiece self-consciousness!
I am trying extensions i wore wigs years ago i had real thick hair then now due to stress and accident i have lost a lot of my hair i loved your info I tried the comb over for a long time i did try several hair products to help grow hair nothing worked so now I am back to my wigs i wish i had all the ones I had now but I am looking for right one
My bio hear is so thin and flat. It takes so much effort to bring body and add color that just is too much effort for me. I love that I can wear a wig and look nice right away.
@ Gloria- yes, wigs and falls were standard norm kin the 60’s and 70’s as well. But what you seem to be missing is that wigs have come into serious norm now! Every celebrity, young adults, Instagram, Pinterest...everywhere is about wigs and extensions! Totally back in fashion!
Thank you Taz. I've worn them for 25 years and had no resources at first. I bought in a brick and mortar store and that was a huge help... trying on in person, seeing various colors and styles. These videos are enormously helpful I think. Wish I'd had them long ago but, I appreciate them now as well.
for 8 years I wore my hair in dreadlocks to mitigate my hair loss. It's worked for me up until my locks grew almost to my waist and started to become heavy and uncomfortable, especially while trying to wear my bicycle helmet. I'm an avid cyclist. when covid hit us, I decided it was the perfect time to make a big change and I cut my locks off and shaved my hair all off. I've been wearing my hair super short - almost a buzz cut since. I've always been fascinated with wigs but didn't like the looks of those old nest looking types and just recently started to explore what's available now a days. well, I'm happily surprised to see that wigs have really changed and I'm more than ready to begin exploring wearing wigs now. thanks for these tutorials for beginners. You really touch on so many of the concerns a new wig wearer may experience. Found this video very helpful and encouraging.
I love this video! I'm new to wigs, but I love them. The first time I wore one to work, I was physically sick and a little shaky with the anxiety of it. I texted my co-workers to warn them and asked them to be honest, but kind. They were amazing and very supportive. I have suffered hair loss and had to do something. Having hair has done so much for me!
I agree with Taz. I just decided to go out in public everywhere 100% with my new wig. Work, Church, grocery shopping, etc. It was VERY liberating. Trust yourself, be bold, be beautiful, and enjoy your new hair!!!!
Forgot to tell you that I am now 75 and have been bald since I was 32. For 43 years & when I look in the mirror I see not the woman I am, I feel like half man & half woman, I am fortunate that my husband loves me with out the wigs, yet I feel more woman with it. Thanks again for your encouragement to go forward, that really helps.
Today , I made a decision to purchase my first wig. I am so tired of standing in front of the mirror trying to make something out of nothing at all!! I'm sad most of the time when I see myself in the mirror. Today, I made a choice to learn to work with wigs. I am looking forward to perhaps feeling good about my hair again! I am just beginning this journey and you have given me courage!! Thank you!! Here I go!!
I started wearing wigs in 2005, and I wish I had started sooner, before my hair was so fine and flat that it was just unstyleable. But back then, the selection was much more limited. The worst part was wearing a wig to work for the first time. I worked for a large software company. There was a lot of internal competition. By no means was everyone I saw on a daily basis my friend. There were some people who wanted my job, and would use any sign of weakness as a lever. My BIGGEST mistake was this. I should have totally broken in my wig before wearing it to the office. My head is 22.5" and average wigs always fit too tight when they are new. Some brands' average size is too small (Ellen Wille is an example) and will never fit me. And I should have learned how to tape my wig on so that it would not slide back from my forehead. My worst moment was sitting at a round table with a group of customers and my boss, and feeling my wig starting to slide back. There is no way to adjust the position of your wig at a round table meeting. It would be nice if everyone you know and work with will be happy for you. If that is not the case, you can still start wearing wigs. Easiest is to start when you start a new job. Otherwise, pick a style and color that looks similar to what your colleagues are used to. Break it in at home until you know it is fitting properly. (True average head sizes and petites will not have this problem.) Learn to fasten the wig to your head so you don't have to worry about it moving back or riding up. Start wearing the wig when you come back from a vacation. If someone says your hair looks nice (for a change, you think!) say thank you. Then act confident. You don't owe everyone an explanation.
Carol Hansen Thank You Carol! This is amazing commentary. Thank you for sharing! It will help many. Everyone has a bit of a different situation. Much love and thanks, XOXO
Just another note. I was 50 when I bought my first wig. Before that, when I went into a meeting and was introduced to 15 people, I could see them (the women especially) looking at my hair when meeting me. I wanted to be "the woman with the short hair in the taupe suit", not "the woman with the really bad hair". I didn't want to look glamorous. I didn't want to have attention-getting hair. I just wanted to have normal hair. I wear my wig 16 hours per day. I select practical, shorter styles that are age-appropriate, yet chic, and are durable. I wore Jon Renau "Blair" for years, and have been wearing Jon Renau "Natalie" for recent years. I have had many compliments from women in the grocery store on my hair style and color. Here is an important side benefit. I once felt it made no sense to invest in a nice wardrobe or take pains with makeup, because my hair would look terrible in any case. Since I started wearing wigs, I have concentrated on fitness so I just look better in general. I now feel fine about how I look at age 63.
Carol Hansen that's fantastic! I actually feel more attractive with my wig...,I had terrible bio hair before I lost it anyway. Lemons into lemonade.....😊😊😊
Hi Carol . Don’t know if you’ll see this, but I’m just getting started learning about wigs. Haven’t purchased or worn one yet, but I measured my head and come up with 22 1/2. Would you mind telling me what brands ended up working for you? I would greatly appreciate it!💕
Carol Hansen another big giveaway is that if you don't know how to blend in a lace front part with your own hair people especially women will notice because it will look fake. If you notice women looking at your forehead then you don't have it well blended.
As a person with a full head of healthy hair, I look at this like a fashion accessory! I have decided to get into wigs, just to change things up, experiment with styles I'm too afraid of doing on my own hair or don't wish to damage my hair with chemicals. I am in LOVE with wigs now. I had thought originally that I don't need a wig, why wear one? Well the answer to that is, why not? There are so many beautiful styles and options now, wigs aren't just for people with hair loss..they are for anyone.
I needed this video! I am 60 and started losing my hair several years ago. I actually bought a wig from a wig store a few years ago, but I've never worn it. However, after watching a LOT of your wig videos, I am DETERMINED to find the perfect beginner wig! I have always kept my hair highlighted and lowlighted, so I have seen several wigs that I think will suit me! Thank you for your encouragement!!! ❤️
Thank you so much! I am totally new on this journey with thinning/hair loss over the past year. I've been grieving over losing my hair and this video gives me hope. I've already made my first mistake...your excellent advice to buy a first wig close my own hair was something I did not do. I have thin, shoulder length hair and just this past week ordered "Sonoma" by ROP....hahahaha! About as different to my hair as I can get. BUT! I will keep her, anyway, to wear when I build up confidence. Now I will go back to CysterWigs and order something more like my bio hair. You are such a jewel to help us frightened newbies out here...thank you for your kind inspiration! Rhonda
rhondalyn100 Thanks Rhonda for the feedback! I’m so glad your staying with it! Next year this time you’ll be wearing all those styles you see and love with confidence! XOXO
Thank you, Taz...after I watched your next vid in this series I decided to take advantage of Heather's new coupon so I ordered Avery in a light honey brown! I'm so excited to start this journey and I thank you, again, for your very helpful basic information on moving forward and gaining confidence! :-)
I have just purchased my first wig (Violet by Estetica). I was lucky enough to have a small wig shop in my town so was able to go and have 'shopping time' with my mom. We went in expecting just to look around, see what worked for me, make notes and then buy one in the next few weeks. Could only describe the experience to wedding dress shopping! Tried them on and what looked good on the rack just wasn't me. Then I found 'the one' and nearly started crying it was so perfect. Our window 2.5 hour window shopping experience turned into 'we must have this'. My mother took a picture and sent it to me and I can't stop looking. (And I have never liked pictures of myself.) We ordered it in a color more similar to my natural color and now we just have to wait for it to come in. I'm more than looking forward to wearing my fabulous new hair and showing it to my hairdresser cause she is going to love it!! Haha
I get goosebumps hearing your story because I am so happy for you! This is the beginning of a new life for you.. one filled with confidence and joy:-) XOXO TAZ
Thank you, thank you!! Your experience very much mimics my own. I finally took the plunge - I wore my first wig for an entire week last week and all of my co-workers know: My bandaid is off!!! I have always wanted to go blonde, but have never been able to due to hair loss/ fragile hair. No more wishing... I can be blonde this week, silvery pink the next... the options are limitless!! I feel so liberated. I only wish I had come to this realization years ago!
Thank you for this video. It just so happened I received my 1st wig today and it looks terrible on me. I am 53 and my natural hair is a pretty silvery gray with dark lowlights. It is just falling out by the handfuls, so thin, and my scalp shows very noticeably. Feeling defeated I thought to give up. I happened to key in a search for videos about wigs for women over 50 and found you! Very sound advice. Your video picked up my deflated self confidence. I am going to try again with your video advice in mind.
TAZ! XOXOXOX Even though this video is now 6 years old it is sooooo helpful for me. I STILL have not bought my first wig, but I am getting very close. I watch a few more of your videos every day and the insight you provide is phenomenal. I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer and I am blessed that I will not need chemo. However, I will get radiation and I will take an estrogen blocker pill both of which will cause even more hair fall than I already have just from aging. I just turned 70, but I feel young and I look young so I desire to have nice hair. Looking at your videos makes me realize that wearing wigs is a wonderful, adventurous journey and it does not have to be a secret! My plan is to dive in openly, experiment, and have fun with trying lots of styles and colors. Which reminds me of a friend of my mother who had full alopecia, and a completely smooth and bald scalp. I was at lunch with a bunch of women and she was there in a gorgeous red wig. I had no idea she had a wig on and I commented on how beautiful her hair was. Immediately another woman at the table burst out with "she’s wearing a wig!" I am not sure how that made her feel, but she handled it so graciously and with a smile acknowledged that it was true. I believe in women empowering women and women like her and yourself lift up those of us who are embarking on this journey. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for sharing this! You have the right attitude and openness to get so much JOY from the experience of wig wearing!! Wishing you many blessings along the way! XOXO
I've only recently started wearing a wig, bought on line and very low cost. At first I thought it was not me, but I wore it at home and gradually got the motivation to cut some off it so it was out of my eyes. When I first wore it in public I didn't wait for a reaction, but told my friends that for me now, it was either a wig or a beanie to cover my sparse hair. Feedback was very positive, comments like you look younger and look great have helped my confidence. I now own three low cost wigs and am happy wearing them all, even the blond streaked one which is quite different from my hair color, for which I've had the most compliments. By low cost I mean that those wigs are about twice the price of a beanie!!
Thank you for what you do. You are very kind and generous with your advise and demonstration skills. Making the decision to wear a wig is one thing, but knowing what to do to make them look “real” is so necessary. From you I have learned to mess with my wigs and mess them up so they don’t look wiggy. I have learned to put things on them to style with color and bling, and get compliments when I add such things to my hair. No one has ever guessed I am wearing a wig and are always surprised to find out I do. I have tried to help ladies I know learn to wear them and learn how to help themselves wear wigs naturally. I thank you so much for all you do.
I am so glad I found you thank you I'm getting ready to go for my 2ond chemo treatment went and had my hair buzzed off lol lost my eyebrows To much to think about thank you
I fell myself guided through your hands to these unclear tunnel that is take a decision of buying the first wig. A lot of uncertainty and even anxiety is rounding my thoughts. Your advices are much more than making a good choice but you know how delicately dig our feelings. Thank you so much.
Great video! I'm a new wig wearer and I think the advice to get a wig close to your own style and color and also just a standard cap is spot on. I think until you figure out which manufacturer's wigs fit the best and what styles suit you that is the way to go! I kinda got lucky with my first wig purchase in that it fit reasonably well and looked reasonably natural. It helped me to persevere. I like bangs though so that helps! Thanks for mentioning about feeling that you have a hat on all the time and that you get used to it. For some reason I didn't expect that to be an adjustment.
First of all, I wanted to start off by saying that I was lucky to have your clip come up by accident because I needed it. The beginning of your hair loss journey is honest, truthful and touching, it really made me feel better about my situation. We tend to be our own worst enemy and usually the public could care less what your wearing, or how you look, unless its something really outlandish and crazy looking and then that will draw attention to yourself. I have always loved wearing wigs, even when I was in my teens. I have always loved fashion, makeup and hairstyles so wigs were a way of expressing myself. I am now 67 and of course I have gray, thinning hair. Ow and don’t like one bit. Wigs have changed a lot from back when, so I am lost now. So far you have given me some good info on what to expect and how to buy now. I have always been afraid of them falling off, because of bad experiences, but I will continue to follow you so I can get ideas. Thank you very much, you have been so helpful.
I absolutely love love wigs...they are so easy to wear and when you have a bad hair day just plop it on.. ladies do not be afraid of wigs...they are a life saver...👍👍👍
Thank you so much. I've been wearing a topper for about a year. After finding your channel, I have decided to try wigs. Only my family and closest friends know for sure I've been wearing a topper. I needed to hear all of this. I'm not sure when I will totally come out about wig-wearing, but I am working on it.
It’s really great to know that I’m not alone in this hair loss nightmare. I’ve been wearing wigs for about a year. A new friend is a wigwearer & she was so gracious to go with me to a wig shop for the first time. Feels really good not to have to fret about my bio hair. It definitely allows me to be more spontaneous.
Oh my, what a wonderful video. You were not rambling but speaking from your heart and experience. I'm experiencing hair loss that I believe is due to several eye surgeries and extended use of steroid eye drops. I am also 64 years old and it could be my age. I have not been to a doc or anything. Anyway, I am entering the arena and appreciate so much your heart-to-heart talk about a way to go about living your best life and let the hair loss be nothing of any real consequence. Do keep sharing what your heart leads you to as we are all dealing with something and we have to pick carefully the things that are really important.God bless you sweet lady! Job well done!
Thank you for this video! I bought my first wig a few months ago, and it took me until 2 weeks ago to finally wear it in public. I wish I had discovered wigs 10 years ago! I love being able to have a great hair day every day!
I’ve been trying for years to hide/disguise my hair loss and over the last year I’ve had to rely mostly on hats. I’ve made the jump and purchased 3 wigs but haven’t worn them yet. I keep telling myself a wig is just a hat that looks like hair, so hopefully soon I’ll be able to actually wear them 😊😉
This was perfect. Every emotion you described yourself experiencing, I am going through now. I’m new to wearing wigs. Just bought my first. I’ve had so much hair loss over the last few years, it’s alarming. I thank you for this video, and part II, which I’m going to find right now. This is the encouragement I need. Thank you so much!!
My hair has been falling out for over a year. Receding hairline. My husband has a beautiful head of hair. People think he's so much younger then me. He's been good about my loss. I feel guilty and vain especially since friends and family have suffered with major health issues. Your videos have been so helpful! My biggest problem now is color of wig. I'm 70 so dark roots are unrealistic. No root makes blonde wig wiggy. Love you videos. Thank you
Thank you so much for making this video. I’m just starting to wear wigs due to hair thinning and wanting to give my natural hair a break. Your confidence and advice have encouraged me and helped me to look at wearing wigs as a fun journey. I’m grateful.
Taz, You are spot on about the wig journey! Thank you for the validation of emotions I have gone through! It is so true what you say. My case is that I have fine crappy hair that takes a ton of work and time every day to make it look remotely good! As I have aged, it has gotten even finer and more sparse! So I started the wig journey! I am happily at the stage now that you talked about, wearing different styles every day. I get a devilish delight when people I encounter realize I must have a wig on because of a color change or length! Lol! It's a look they get when they are trying to figure out what is different about me! I agree 100% with the wig journey experience you described and know that you will encourage many on the same journey! Thank you, Taz!
Elissa, I, like you, have very fine hair. I am 55 years old and it takes me toooo much time to make it look like I want and sometimes I end up giving up and clipping it up. My husband said hat if it saves me time in the morning to go for it. After much, research and thought, I just ordered Ocean by Elle Wille.
Wigs are so nice and make me look and feel better. I am so glad you have been open and helped all us wig wearers on our journey. I am getting used to wearing them out in public now and starting to feel more confident each time. I am connecting with my grocery clerk who is on the beginning of her wig journey too. I hope we will become good friends through our wig journey. Also, I have tried and returned several wigs, most of the return postage is on me and that is fair. Expectation is the key like you have stated. My experience says to find a wig that is close to your own color and style to start with.
You are such an amazing person to be able to take the time to help other women who maybe afraid of this whole new experience. Besides being a very stressful time for someone in this unknown new life territory, but it can be a very scary one with trying to start ones personal journey. You are not only a very beautiful woman on the outside, but a very beautiful woman inside as well. Xoxo
Great timing! I plan to get me a third and fourth wig soon so had a week off work so binged watched most of yours and Cysterwigs reviews.I have it narrowed down to 22 wigs:( Lots to consider) 64 yr old woman, short, overrweight, Parkinsons, real thin hair. But do get out among the living and working on my appearance. Thank you Taz...You rock everything you wear!
Thank you for sharing your journey! I have just started wearing wigs. I have been living with super fine thin hair since I was in high school. I think my hair loss started because I was dieting all the time back then trying to be super thin. My sisters who grew up in the Twiggy era kept telling me I was "fat" when in fact, now that I look back, I was anything but fat (5' 5" and 105lbs). People can be so inconsiderate and over my life I have gotten so many comments on how fine and thin my hair was...very embarrassing. Then to make matters worse I had a hairdresser who talked me into getting a perm and she burned my hair and that was pretty much the end, my hair never recovered. I went to one hairdresser after that incident and she said she couldn't work miracles - how rude! I just wanted my hair to look decent. Stopped going to hairdressers. Like you I have spent a small fortune on hair products promising to make my hair grow and of course they didn't. For awhile I wore hair pieces with my hair pulled back and they looked pretty good. Then I found keratin hair extensions and have been successfully wearing them for about 10 yrs. Last time I had a new set installed the hairdresser noted that my hair was getting thinner and that she was having difficulty covering the bonds. I noticed it immediately and have been wearing a hat for the last few months. Then I discovered wig videos! I immediately was hooked and started watching and trying to learn everything I could about wigs. I finally ended up buying a topper and when I had success with that I bought a wig. Since I had been wearing extensions and my hair was long I bought a long style in a rooted color that was similar to my own. My husband immediately noticed it when he got home and was not complimentary at all. This kind of set me back. I think the reality was just that he had not seen me with "normal" hair - ever! I went back to wearing my topper with my extensions but I kept researching wigs. I ordered another wig in a different color that was not rooted. The next time he saw me he didn't say a word, which almost made me more self conscious! I had just been wearing my wig around the house trying to get used to it and learning how to secure it so it didn't shift around. Then I finally wore it out. I went to a different grocery store than I normally did and no one said anything. Then I went to the dry cleaners where I had been going for about 25 yrs and the owner complimented me on my hair! Wow, I was so taken aback that I really didn't know what to say, but the boost to my confidence was immediate! I finally felt normal and was no longer embarrassed or self conscious about my hair. Then I wore it to a club meeting that my husband and I belong to. One of the women immediately noticed that my hair was different and asked me what I had done to make hair look different. Of course, I was taken aback by her boldness and just said I had extensions put in because my hair was thinning - I didn't really want to go into my situation as I was in a room full of people and didn't really want the whole group to know my situation. She said she hadn't noticed my thinning hair and that my hair looked really nice and that it was nice that there were options. I am still searching for the perfect wig and I am getting close. I have learned a lot from your videos and others here on TH-cam. All I can say is yes, you are going to spend a lot of money but I figured I had been spending a lot of money on extensions for years (and they aren't cheap) so really just a trade-off. Be prepared for comments both good and bad. Try to find and buy the best wig you can afford that is similar in style to your current hair and color. You can always go longer or shorter gradually over time if you want a different look. One of my favorite wigs right now is the Robin by Noriko. She is just a plain jane (no mono top, no lace front) wig in a long straight style but the density is just right for me and I have been having so much fun styling her in braids, ponytails, updos, etc....something I have never been able to do with my own hair. I have more expensive wigs - Camilla by Jon Renau, hand tied, lace front, mono top - a beautiful wig but she needs some styling help which I haven't figured out how to accomplish yet. Her bangs look nothing like the photos (flat and straight and swept off to the side). The bangs on my Camilla are heavy and seem to be flipping up all over the place. I just can't get them to lay correctly. I know if I can get them right I will absolutely adore Camilla as everything else about the wig is very good quality. Right now I actually prefer the Robin! I learn something new everyday from these videos. My confidence is building. You are correct in saying that we can agonize over our hair problems or do something about it and enjoy the rest of our lives and have fun with wigs! Your videos are so much fun and so imformative and I thank you for helping me on my wig journey.
Hello my name is Jamie I’m a transgender woman and I am a wig wearer and I just watched your video and I’m very impressed with how you explained your journey to wearing wigs and that it gave me a lot of information on how to get a better fitting wig I never really had any idea what was involved with it I wanted to thank you for the information
I love this so much. I have been having hair thinning for years. Kind of comes and goes. I have been playing with the idea of wearing toppers. I investigated for months and finally bought one. The first one was totally not for me. Not my style and didn't really look good. I just got a new one that is really like I have always worn my hair. It's fabulous! It gives me back my confidence! A whole new world. I was nervous about wearing it in front of my family. I did what you said. I told them, they loved it! Now all of the women in my family want to start. My daughters, my mother, everyone! Having so much fun with it and I can't wait until I have several. My co workers will be the next group I tell if we ever go back to work. Thank you for what you do. Watching you has made me feel so much better.
Taz!! I am so grateful for you!! I am more comfortable now with my wig. I am brand new at this and well... I was freaking out about it. But I have worn my wig out of the house twice now with my husband and I feel like myself!! What a great day!! I want to thank you for all of your stories, as they have helped me to deal with my own hair loss. Sending you much much love Taz!! And I love the video you just did for brunettes!! That is my color!! Have a great day♥️♥️♥️
I wore wigs for a couple of years and always felt like everyone was staring. I lacked so much confidence and one day my wig nearly fell off in a store. I decided to stop wearing wigs right then. I felt like if I was that ashamed of it possibly falling off in public I didn’t need to be wearing one. However , I’m just as uncomfortable not wearing one as when I wore a one..I’m toying with starting to wear them again and have actually ordered one. I didn’t realize how itchy and uncomfortable they can be I’m not sure I can get past that breaking in stage again , but your pep talk has encouraged me to try.
Every time I watch this, I learn so much I missed. I am in a different point in my wig journey (now 3 months in) and I NEED to hear new info. You are such an excellent teacher, with your dedication and passion to help others find their own way to JOY and Peace. I am so grateful for YOU and wanted to communicate that you have made such a huge impact on my life. Thank you for the time and effort you pour into my life; to help me past my social anxiety and venture out into the world again. You are such a special person, Taz and I am thanking God for His gift to me, BlesSINGS from NW OHIO, A forever FAN!
D. Binger I am so humbled by your kind words. Please know they mean the world to me. Your comments give me motivation and determination to keep doing this.. I appreciate you deeply and wish you a special joy and peace. XOXO TAZ
Everything you said was spot on. I guess it was easier for me to wear a wig than most. I caught my husband of 28 years having an affair. Everyone knew about it. Within 3 months of finding out I had lost half of my hair. Hair that was already fine and thin from autoimmune diseases and hereditary. I was blessed to find my perfect wig my first time and have bought many of the same one. I watched a lot of “wig shows” on fb. I told everyone I was wearing a wig as soon as I put it on. Everyone has been so supportive and kind. Wigs have absolutely given me my confidence back plus some! I’ve never had beautiful hair as I have now wearing a wig. Just like you said, telling people I was wearing a wig was so liberating!! I don’t feel like I’m hiding a secret or deceiving anyone ❤️
Hi Taz. Even though I’ve been wearing wigs now for about 1 1/2 years, I found this video to be very upbuilding, encouraging and very informative. I related to everything you said as I am going through my journey. All I can say is when I put my wig on I feel pretty, like I used to with my thick bio hair. I can’t get used to my now thin, stringy “feathers”, and why should I have to when there are so many options out there to make me feel better about myself. Love your videos, Taz, and I think this one was very special, especially for women considering this option. 💝
I love your honesty about wigs, mostly the psychological aspect of it. I'm 64 and have major hair loss. I bought a hair scrunchy that I love. Matches my hair. So I am clued in on how just a little thing can make you feel better. But right now I can see my scalp everywhere. I want a wig that looks natural. I get about starting small, so that's what I'm going to do. Thank you again for telling the psychological journey of wearing wigs. BK
I was pretty shocked to read your comment about people being annoyed - I am new to wigs and was so happy to find your channel. I've been watching your videos and I think you do a FABULOUS job. You mentioned in one of your other videos that you've never been "a great beauty" or something to that effect and I nearly fell out of my chair. Not sure what you see when you look in the mirror however you are not only beautiful, but beautifully poised. Thanks for all the great content.🙏
Thank you for this. I started about 2 years ago and it was so much trial and error and disappointment. I finally found one that worked and I bought several of the same one. I'm now starting to experiment a little.
I loved this story of your wig journey.....so eloquently spoken. I can relate to so many of your experiences. It felt as if you were telling my story. I,m amazed to hear we share so many of the same feelings. Every new wig wearer should listen to this. Taz, thank you for sharing.
No you’re not rambling at all, just a real discussion about the emotional experience of beginning a wig journey. I feel a bit vain as most people would say I have great hair but to achieve a look is such hard work. My hair is a bit thinner on top now but at 63 it’s not too bad at all. I still have a load of hair but I want to try different styles without having to visit the salon every time! Not to mention, my hairdresser can achieve a gorgeous look with my hair but I can’t. I’ve made that first purchase and have shown my family but still haven’t worked up enough courage to come out publicly. ( they love my “unfiltered” by the way) This video helps a great deal and I appreciate all your words of encouragement 💪🏼♥️ Thanks Taz, you’re a gem 💎 ♥️💎
Thanks for your honesty in your wig journey. I've been wearing wigs for a year and a half, but I am always eager to learn more about wigs and hear other people's stories of how they came to wearing wigs. I've always been into hair and make-up (I got a license for cosmetology years ago), so being able to wear different styles and colors of wigs is a dream come true!
this talk was excellent! I live in a place where I HAVE to buy online. I found myself relating to everything you said.First time out in public, my hairdresser was shocked and asked WHERE I had my hair done! An elderly close relative brought up the shame and fear..." What if people KNOW???small town.Your talk has helped me SO much, thank you!!
Thank you so so much. I am so lost! I just hate my hair and want to cover it up. 30 year class reunion coming up and I so wanted to feel prettier. Have no clue where to begin. Wanted something similar to what you are wearing in this video. I so appreciate your help.
I recommend the free consultation services at WigStudio1.com! Email support@wigstudio1.com and they can schedule a phone or zoom call with you. Its a great way to get started! XOXO
Great & informative video. 99% of confidence in wearing wigs is attitude. I like the attitude of those who wear them just for fun who don't need a wig, they don't care who knows it's a wig because no one knows why they're wearing one so their confidence shines through.
Thank you Taz for this information I just got my fist wig cute style but not a great cap I losing my hair don’t know why my husband shaved my head for me last night waiting to order another wig
I ripped the bandage off right from the start, got my wig one day & had a Christmas party the next night at the local masonic lodge, so wore my wig. Got a lot of nice compliments & of course side ways looks but over all it was the best thing to do . Have wore it to the grocery store ... have a few more wigs on order t otry different styles. Next to wear it to church which i will this Sunday. My hair is silver/gray & dark i n the back, so that is the color I picked & wore and will wear for now.
Thank you for taking the time and talking about this topic. It really touch my heart and addressed my concerns about getting a wig. I understand exactly what you expressed in the video about getting over the threshold about buying a wig. You have given me the courage to try which I have been so reluctant for a long time. You bring up many good points and now I will try to manage my expectations until I find the best solution for my situation. Thanks again for your help. Best regards, Angela
Thank you for this information on wigs, I have not had any hair since I was 32 years young, I have male pattern baldness which means it will never go back, going back and watch the rest of your video, Thanks again
Really enjoyed this video my wig journey is similar to yours. I’m 65 years and wearing wigs shaves about 20 years off my life plus the added confidence I have is immeasurable. I have found the most comfortable and best fitting cap is Jon Renau after having experimented with a lot of other brands. I have very thin, fine hair which is not very attractive. I also think in the long run that wigs are cheaper than having your hair coloured and cut regularly. My friend just spent $200.00 at the hairdresser last week and wasn’t even happy with it. Unfortunately I didn’t take after my mother’s thick, curly, auburn hair but my father’s thin, patty locks lol. Look forward to watching your upcoming videos. Getting older doesn’t mean u have to look it.
Hi Taz! What an awesome, inspirational chat!! I got a lot out of this! You perked me up considerably today! I believe it has taken many trial and error wigs before I have gotten the one wig that broke the ice, so to speak! Thanks!
I’m so excited! Thank you for this video! I have a short pixie and I love changing my hair because I get bored. I thought I would give wigs a chance because….why not!? I can’t wait to see how it goes and hopefully become just as empowered and positive about wigs as you are!
You are so perfect I laugh cause it sounds like me talking this particular video is great you tell it so right. I'm waiting patiently for my wig to come I'm trying to listen to all your videos you are so cute and you can tell you are so loyal in describing all the goods and bands of being a new wig owner.ill let you know when I get mine how I'm doing. I'm so glad I found your videos.
I am also a BIG advocate of personal empowerment. Owning your truth, whatever that may be. And the way to happiness is to have your outer perspective be in alignment with your inner self/ soul. Be it harmlessly , with love for the universe and all life, allowing others their divine space and experience and all will be well.
If you hadn't mentioned that you have a wig on I would have never known. I just think that you went to a great Salon and had a fantastic hairdresser that knows what she's doing. That she knew how to color your hair so well.
You’re my hero!!!! What you said about medical condition and beginning in your 40s to wear wigs. That’s where I am now. It’s a difficult decision (I feel judged) and it can be overwhelming. I’ve bought about 25 in a month. 🤗Ty your doing these videos. I will be watching ALL of them!!!!
Been watching your vids but just saw this. A beautiful deep sharing experience! As a wig wearer for 50 years- for religious reasons, never had those feelings. However always wore differe t styles and shades so that it would actually be stating a fact, while managing to look modern and natural. So this was very comprehensive and good luck to everyone!❤
I love to watch your videos. You are just precious. I'm learning so much about choices and style. And I love how you present everything and talk to all who are watching as if we were there. I so much appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Your so knowledgeable about wigs and everything that helps us to make a great decision. So thank you so much. We love you. And we are apart of this journey. Shelby Reid
Oh my an I thankful I found you! I am 48 and experiencing so much change in my hair…in texture and density. I have just started thinking about wearing wigs and SO appreciate your channel.
I really loved this video - it's so hard to know where to start when you have to buy a wig, and what to expect. You're so kind and supportive and I love the way you talk everyone through this. I'm losing my hair to chemo, and this was really helpful for me, thank you!
Wise and insightful, you vlogs are a NON-NEGOTIABLE VIEWING MUST for everyone who is considering investing in a follically fulfilling experience. Best vibes to you for putting these series of vlogs together especially wig wearing 1.01 - daily wig wearing is indeed a lifestyle choice and not as simple as it may initially seem. The watch-wearing analogy is a masterfully illustrative example, simple yet profoundly perceptive and accurate. I survived 2-major life threatening events but visible evidence of medical trauma remains so, I made the decision to wear wigs 7-years ago. I didn't want to presennt like I'd just begun the hormones a couple of weeks ago and I wanted the unit to appear as undetectably realistic as practicable. A major decision and a lonely journey. I know your vlogs are targetted to a feminine market but nevertheless, I watch your vlogs as they're interesting and your personable empathy shines through the screen. A charisma bomb.
🙏🏻🤗🤗
@@DebbieSparrow it's definitely not a waste of money. Once you find a wig that you love, it change your whole life. Watch wig videos for tips and prices and start off with one wig. Many times they are on sale. I hope this helps 😊
Me too Tonya. I'm 49 and I've just ordered my first wig. Editor's pick elite from the Raquel Welch line in RL12/22SS (shaded cappuccino)
That's the best compliment I could ever receive! There is great joy waiting for you on the other side of your challenges:-) XOXO
Taz your the best, new to wigs i am and your presentations are wonderful, please don't stop..
M
What is name of wig you have on?

It was fun!
LOVE THIS!! Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your journey, it so helpful to hear! XOOX
🙏🏻😘🤗🤩🥰
Thank you for sharing this! In only wish there was a way to give a thorough consultation online. XOXO
I.LOVE.THIS.! Thank you for sharing this with me and for sharing your joy with others..it’s contagious! 😍😍😍
Thank you! Unscrupulous retailers like to take and use my content to sell their knockoffs. Be sure to only buy from WigStudio1.com. XOXO
You are inspirational! I am a burn victim with spaces of no hair on my head and have been able to make it with my bio hair, but as I am getting older you have helped me decide to go ahead with wigs…and start my journey….which I should have done a long time ago!! 🥰❤️ thank you!
I hope it’s going well for you! Wigs and toppers really are miracles!
Love it! XOXO
Makeup is no different from wearing a wig, fake nails, and tatoos; yet, makeup is acceptable.
@@susancinek5803 sounds so good!

I really appreciate your sharing this, thank you!! Blessings! 🥰🥰🥰
I am on a classic Taz video journey, look how far wigs have come in the past four years. You really brought me on this journey. Never going back. 💗💗💗

Thank you!! Here I go!!
Awesome Kim!! I hope your journey into wigs brings you as much joy and it has brought me! XOXO
🤗💕🙏🏻
That's a wonderful story Sheila. I'm glad you found a wig that made you happy.
🤗🤗🤗
XOXO
I enjoyed this so much....soooo incredibly helpful! You are amazing Taz💞 Thank you for all you do for us!
Thank you so much for the love, Lori!
Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful remarks! XOXO
I just love you!!! I’ve decided to wear different colors and styles. Wondering about blonde now!!!
Immediately
I am so glad I found you thank you
I'm getting ready to go for my 2ond chemo treatment went and had my hair buzzed off lol lost my eyebrows
To much to think about thank you
I fell myself guided through your hands to these unclear tunnel that is take a decision of buying the first wig.
I remember how I bought my 3 first wigs. They was terrible . Very fake looking. Now I found your videos and very happy 😃
So helpful! I needed to hear this video as I'm starting my journey! I just turned 46 and needed to hear this today!
Thank you for this video! I bought my first wig a few months ago, and it took me until 2 weeks ago to finally wear it in public. I wish I had discovered wigs 10 years ago! I love being able to have a great hair day every day!
Welcome and thank you for sharing! XOXO
I’ve been trying for years to hide/disguise my hair loss and over the last year I’ve had to rely mostly on hats. I’ve made the jump and purchased 3 wigs but haven’t worn them yet. I keep telling myself a wig is just a hat that looks like hair, so hopefully soon I’ll be able to actually wear them 😊😉
K B Yes! I always say that it’s a wig when it’s in the box but it’s my hair as soon as it’s on my head! Good luck you! Blessings, TAZ 💕
Thanks I have just started looking into wogs as an easy way to change my style and well cover my beloved pink hair on more conservative settings
🥰🥰🥰
Judy Bennett Great to have goals! I wish you luck! I really believe the right wig can help. Be well, TAZ XOXO
Oh my goodness this was just what I needed! I’m struggling with hair loss too. Thank you for such a positive message 🥰
🤗🤗🤗💕💕💕
BK
Thank you for this video. You hit the nail on the head saying wig wearing is emotional because it is a answer to our hairloss heartbreak.
Very kind and sweet comments, thank you so very much! Blessings! 💛💛💛
Thank you for this. I started about 2 years ago and it was so much trial and error and disappointment. I finally found one that worked and I bought several of the same one. I'm now starting to experiment a little.
Yay! I am thrilled you are finding joy in your journey! XOXO
I loved this story of your wig journey.....so eloquently spoken. I can relate to so many of your experiences. It felt as if you were telling my story. I,m amazed to hear we share so many of the same feelings. Every new wig wearer should listen to this. Taz, thank you for sharing.
hairwegoagain2 XOXO
No you’re not rambling at all, just a real discussion about the emotional experience of beginning a wig journey.
I feel a bit vain as most people would say I have great hair but to achieve a look is such hard work.
My hair is a bit thinner on top now but at 63 it’s not too bad at all.
I still have a load of hair but I want to try different styles without having to visit the salon every time!
Not to mention, my hairdresser can achieve a gorgeous look with my hair but I can’t.
I’ve made that first purchase and have shown my family but still haven’t worked up enough courage to come out publicly. ( they love my “unfiltered” by the way)
This video helps a great deal and I appreciate all your words of encouragement 💪🏼♥️
Thanks Taz, you’re a gem 💎 ♥️💎
Taz thank you so much I loved this video!! I needed to hear all those words!!
You are great, I am glad you decided to be an advocate!!
Best regards,
Angela
anchi5252 So awesome Angela! I hope you find wigs you’ll love. XOXO
Thanks!
I love your message on kindness in this videos description ❤️ you're beautiful! 😊
I’m so excited! Thank you for this video! I have a short pixie and I love changing my hair because I get bored. I thought I would give wigs a chance because….why not!? I can’t wait to see how it goes and hopefully become just as empowered and positive about wigs as you are!
Superb comments on diving into wigs and the emotional experience! Thankyou Taz. Jacque
Wig shops are more expensive than buying online also. I’ve learned so much just watching Taz’s videos, then ordering from Wig Studio 1.
Well said! LOVE these comments! 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you this helped so much!
You look amazing in everything you try on. Your beauty shines through. Inside and out.
Thanks for sharing how you transitioned to being public about it. All of your videos are so great!
Thank you Taz... you’re a beautiful, wonderful teacher... you have inspired me!!!
Been watching your vids but just saw this. A beautiful deep sharing experience!
As a wig wearer for 50 years- for religious reasons, never had those feelings.
However always wore differe t styles and shades so that it would actually be stating a fact,
while managing to look modern and natural.
So this was very comprehensive and good luck to everyone!❤
Welcome and thank you! XOXO
Learned so much from you! Thank you Thank You! Bought my 1st wig and having so much fun with it!
I learned sooo much thank you Taz! Purchased first ever wig 1 yr ago. WOW.

Taz you are so great in your attitude love your videos!!!!!
I really loved this video - it's so hard to know where to start when you have to buy a wig, and what to expect. You're so kind and supportive and I love the way you talk everyone through this. I'm losing my hair to chemo, and this was really helpful for me, thank you!
Floresita H Thank you and blessings to you🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wise and insightful, you vlogs are a NON-NEGOTIABLE VIEWING MUST for everyone who is considering investing in a follically fulfilling experience.
James Stratton Thank You for the witty and kind words. I appreciate them so so much. XOXO
