I'm an English and IELTS tutor and this is my opinion on the video. She speaks very clearly, and her tones and intonation are generally good, however, there are many grammatical errors. I watched half the video and found 14 errors. If you rewatch the video, you can pick them out yourself: 'I stayed at home' 'I have to go to trip to York' I enjoyed most You just relax out of the whole week You just need peace, relax ‘I have great taste of music, I like too arabic music. I have to listen to music all the day' ‘The new music’ ‘I feel always’ ‘The special gift I gave to my mother’ ‘in the mother day’ ‘To search for what am I going to give my mother’ ‘I decided to take a very lovely necklace’ ‘in a very coloured papers’ Remember, these small errors add up and will affect your band score. I will pick out two simple errors to fix: 'I feel always' - 'I always feel' - remember, adverbs (always) always come before verbs (feel) 'I decided to take a very lovely necklace' - she decided to buy the necklace- take implies she stole the necklace. Good luck with your exams! :) Victoria
Rumen Filipov If you expand my post, Rumen, I made a list, in sequential order. If you read the list and listen to the video you should be able to hear where these mistakes are.
Fluency and Coherence: 8 Pronunciation: 8 Lexical resources: 6 Grammatical range and accuracy: 6 … This is how she got overall of 7 … It is funny how people think if you speak fluently with good pronunciation then you will get 9! Other areas are considered such as lexical resources, and in this video most of vocabulary used were simple, basic and repetitive. Also, she made so many grammatical mistakes almost in answering each question, though she did not use a wide range of structures. Even her cohernce was not always adequate. Her transition between ideas and sentences was not smooth she kept repeating (and… and… also… ) - To me, I would give her: 7 for coherence and fluency 6 for lexical resources 6 for grammatical range and accuracy 8 for prnunciation Overall: 6.5
This is a really good example of an interview. I loved it and got to learn quite a lot. Thank you for posting this video. Please do post more. Thank you. I scored 6 Band, just because I was so nervous that I blew it, but it does not mean that my expression of English language is really of that level. People do make mistakes and I really do not personally like the concept of conducting this IELTS exam, but I do recognize its Importance as well.
wow she's a perfect speaker she speaks English so softy and clearly and she doesn't have any confusing when she speaks i wish i had someone like her to speak so will observe my English so much
Thank you so much! I'm taking the exam the day after tomorrow and I was really scared before I saw this video. I guess we overstress a bit when we are going to do something as important as this and don't realize its just a normal conversation. Again, thank you!
I really like the composure of the examiner. he smiled often and made the whole speaking session fun for the candidate. I just do hope many other examiners are like him. I think that will even make a candidate feel relaxed if he is nervous.
well down Sawson. You spoke very well and confident at the test. I am watching this video in 2012 and I am very sad for Syrian people right now. I do not know where are you or what are you doing right now?! But I pray for you, your family and all Syrian. I hope Syria get free and peace come back to it very soon.
She's got a nice accent and she speaks quiet naturally for me... the thing is she said some things that are grammaticaly wrong. If she had prepared herself more for the test, I'm sure she would've had a better grade...
really nice video. she spoke as if she was chatting with a friend, pretty cool and confident. I liked the smile on her face, this in a way shows that she is not tensed.
people dont realize what this video means and how to fetch 7 bands. In this video, it shows that the accent isn't important and the way u express urself is more important. U have to be free from stress and talk in a controlled manner without fumble. I got 7 too by following this video. Thanks alot
Indeed it is extremely meaningful from the individual , family , up to international , that what happening in any gift or recognize , it is making the sense of that their are great persons recognize each other while living hard dark life . Thank you so much
I was wondering why she only got 7 for such an amazing English in the beginning but the penny was dropped by the time she started talking about the given topic (i.e. the gift in this video) and I thought she could have done a bit better with the articles, tenses and words order. Overall, it was a very good test and she was pretty up to scratch for the score.
Great effort by this Young Syrian woman.Yet if she did a little bit more study and training she could easily lift her score. Her words and sentences did flow and I think that is a great achievement for some one who English is a 2nd language. Note as an English speaker I would say Mother's Day not Mother Day.
Lol 😂 when they get a native E speaker Like me I take the public bus instead of my car to listen to natives however they always been 12 to 18 age so they said “like” every two seconds
When he asked whether her music preferences had changed, she said that they changed, and then she said that she was still listening to what she did before. When she was talking about the present she said ‘and I hide it..’ in the Present Simple instead of ‘and I hid it’! ‘She was really happy very much’ (too many emphases)
really she was excellent , meas she was perfect specially that she illustrate that she was enthusiastic for making surprise her mother to giving gift to her . i wish i also face such as question .
i like this is seven, as i'm about the same level (;)) and i need to score 7 in all parts. i just usually get confused quickly when i need to think of something. like this example and then you have to talk about it for two minutes! wow, lots of vocabulary and paraphrases for sure :)
Just so people know, when you watch this video it feels like a real 15 minutes, but in the real test it feels like 5 minutes so don't panic just try to be yourself.
She seems to have start out really strong mostly band 8 material but then towards to the end she started having grammatical errors and that's what probably brought her down to a band 7
When she was asked about the reason of choosing English literature as a study program she couldn’t explain the true reason only clichés like ‘I like blah, blah’, ‘English is an international language, blah, blah”. “So English literature is one of the best majors I’ve ever studied” (What did she mean? Was she still choosing a major? How many majors did it take her to experience before she set her heart on English literature?)
International AIDS and International Aid are totally different things.......Also, when examiner asks you to speak for 1 to 2 minutes, it doesnt mean you should keep talking until he stops you....1 to 2 minutes means, 1 to minutes
This is a very good sample of Speaking Band 7. I always show it to mys student so they know how the real situation of the test will be and how to answer to the examiner's questions :)
she has a good command of English and it is pretty obvious that she also got too much alternatives of vocabularies but at the end of the interview she seemed to loose concentration and missed the eye-to-eye contact effect which gives a bad impression, but i adore her level of English i wish i could make it like her's tomorrow.
Fairly, I agree with you, she couldn't express herself regarding the old music and new music, and why she prefers old one more? not using those techniques to substitute an adjective by using a complex sentence, which shows the flexibility in English expressing.
there are a lot points to consider. One of them is the "uhmm" sound when she says after a sentence, it is well known that reduce your points at the final. other point is try to use more complex words when you speak, you can check some tips of IELTS in the web, there are a lot of them in the cloud..
She lacks eye contacts most of the time during the test; which could slightly affect your desired score. Otherwise, she seems very fluent and to the point.
She suffers from limited lexical resource and hesitations specially in section 2. On that account she gets 7; however I believe she could have given a 7.5.
It shows when a person doesn’t have a generally high level of English but instead prepares for the test. In this case such a person just uses clichés like “I like it very much’ or “it’s very important’, or uses useful phrases from a list of IELTS vocabulary.
If she said e.g. "I'm a student at Univeristy of.... I'm taking an English literature and I find it really interesting" she would score even 7.5-8.0. People! Remember about full answers not just "yes, no". That's the easiest way to gain scores!
Do you enjoy weekends now more than you did when you a child? How important it is for you to relax at the end of the week? What sort of music do you usually enjoy listening to? How's the kind of music you like changed over the years? Do you prefer to listening to live music or recorded music? Do you think listening to music help your study?
If she gets 7, who gets 9? Obama?
hhhhhhhhhh, it's quite difficult to get 9 in this shit test even if you're a native speaker as far as I know :)
Neither Obama

Ok. Thank you very mach Victoria. It seem that you are very good teacher ;)
I think that also when she said: "i didn't told her about this"
Do you think if she deserves 7 for this?
ok
7 is too low for her
ya, can get 8.0 at least
Fluency and Coherence: 8
Pronunciation: 8
Lexical resources: 6
Grammatical range and accuracy: 6
…
This is how she got overall of 7

@@Doctor_Fifa your rank is quite objective. But, don't you ever think about additional 0.5 for her attractive appearance :)
Man she's beautiful :D
Lol
no one cares about beaty on exam XD I have exam after tomorrow . I am bit nervous
+nin How was your exam ? by the way I got an overall band 8
Inderjyot Singh result will be on 22nd of July. I will tell. and congrats for your result
+nin Thank you . I gave it long time back in the month of February. Did you give the academic one?
This is a really good example of an interview. I loved it and got to learn quite a lot. Thank you for posting this video. Please do post more. Thank you. OMG my test's after tomorrow! She makes me afraid for myself. I'm not as half as good.
how was your exam? :)
not so bad. 6.5 speaking and 6.5 overall. thanks :D
Mina Michael Well done :)
thanks :D I kinda got lucky :D
Thank you so much! I'm taking the exam the day after tomorrow and I was really scared before I saw this video. I guess we overstress a bit when we are going to do something as important as this and don't realize its just a normal conversation.
Again, thank you!
She's so beautiful,so sweet =D
she is so adorable
I hope she has left Syria on time...
Am I the only one who think this girl is very pretty? I think the auditor would certainly enjoy talking with her.
she's lovely
Hi frank
I am going to give my ielts test in next month.
i need sincere partener
she deserves more than band 7. seriously speaking...
Dukjam Gya for her pronounciation? yes? but thr vocab she used was pretty common so....
I really like the composure of the examiner. he smiled often and made the whole speaking session fun for the candidate. I just do hope many other examiners are like him. I think that will even make a candidate feel relaxed if he is nervous.
Okay she studies English literature and gets 7. I see English movies with subtitles, I guess I should apply for a refund of my exam fee.
Iss ko big boss me hona chayiea as she is following the script 🤣
gosh! she is so adorable
i really love how her thoughts goes answering all those questions! 😊
This girl is so beautiful ... She deserved at least 8.
well down Sawson. You spoke very well and confident at the test. I am watching this video in 2012 and I am very sad for Syrian people right now. I do not know where are you or what are you doing right now?! But I pray for you, your family and all Syrian. I hope Syria get free and peace come back to it very soon.
she has provided me with hope!
She's got a nice accent and she speaks quiet naturally for me... the thing is she said some things that are grammaticaly wrong. If she had prepared herself more for the test, I'm sure she would've had a better grade...
Sinara M. I agree
I just Focused on Her Smile and her Beautiful voice 😊
really nice video. she spoke as if she was chatting with a friend, pretty cool and confident.
I liked the smile on her face, this in a way shows that she is not tensed.
She and her voice are so beautiful.
Her score decreased to mere 7 because she could not speak the whole time given to her for cue card section. You can't stop, keep speaking...
people dont realize what this video means and how to fetch 7 bands. In this video, it shows that the accent isn't important and the way u express urself is more important. U have to be free from stress and talk in a controlled manner without fumble. I got 7 too by following this video. Thanks alot
I am already in love before the video finishes
Oh god, when she started explaining the various types of AIDS to the examiner... I don't know how he kept a straight face.
really ,really its an amazing video because the words spoken by the girl is in persuasive way its amazing video
Indeed it is extremely meaningful from the individual , family , up to international , that what happening in any gift or recognize , it is making the sense of that their are great persons recognize each other while living hard dark life . Thank you so much
the moment even he smiles , cool sis
Yeah...Pretty Smile :)
I was wondering why she only got 7 for such an amazing English in the beginning but the penny was dropped by the time she started talking about the given topic (i.e. the gift in this video) and I thought she could have done a bit better with the articles, tenses and words order. she's so beautiful.
So many ideas for a word unique, gift. Cool.
Her most fatal mistake was eye contact, she looked around the table and sometimes glimpsed to the right or left instead of looking at the examiner.
her voice is addictive 👍👍💜
she spoke so fluently and exactly. i wish i can do like her
Great effort by this Young Syrian woman.Yet if she did a little bit more study and training she could easily lift her score. Her words and sentences did flow and I think that is a great achievement for some one who English is a 2nd language. Note as an English speaker I would say Mother's Day not Mother Day.
Mike Wyatt hello mike

"this video a hundred years at lunch" :D
i like this is seven, as i'm about the same level (;)) and i need to score 7 in all parts. i just usually get confused quickly when i need to think of something. like this example and then you have to talk about it for two minutes! wow, lots of vocabulary and paraphrases for sure :)
She is beautiful..
The problem here I think it's that she had lots of aahh, mmmm. The eye contact is very important,
She did great even if she was a bit stressed.
eye contact definitely not to be one of the factors for accessing ielts speaking
She is lucky candidate because she got an easy topic and friendly interviewer.
Teacher "what u ll do next weekend?? " lolzzz
she is better then the band 8
No!
Gaurav Dhiman
yes it's aiasem.tuyakpaeva
than*
HAHAH..Pritam das You just echoed my thoughts..completely second you dude. This can never be worthy of 7
She had no perfect eye-contact. For this reason she got 7
Just so people know, when you watch this video it feels like a real 15 minutes, but in the real test it feels like 5 minutes so don't panic just try to be yourself.
yup, she deserves more than 7 for sure...atleast an 8
I think that she deserved 8. She did it very well.
this lady did very well, speed, pronunciation, coherence, facial expression.. all in a smooth way. Should get 8.0 and above.
'Oh' it's magnificent idea for me.
Her smiling is very nice 🐤🐤🐤
She used very simple sentences, but she spoke naturally!
She sounds fluent, but when you listen closely u realize why she deserved a 7 and all the figures below..
thank you...feel great to watch this video .
i admire her so much
She got band 7, it is one of speaking materials that IELTS used in one of the recent IELTS preparation materials.
I just wacthed 2 band 7 videos and the quality of speach was so different!
She seems to have start out really strong mostly band 8 material but then towards to the end she started having grammatical errors and that's what probably brought her down to a band 7
She said "Nichols"... when she was trying to say "Necklace".
your face looks so serious and lovely lols
After giving her a cue card he tells her to stop speaking instead of writing at 5.2.
Hahaha
Nishchay Chadha can you start speaking now
When she was asked about the reason of choosing English literature as a study program she couldn’t explain the true reason only clichés like ‘I like blah, blah’, ‘English is an international language, blah, blah”. “So English literature is one of the best majors I’ve ever studied” (What did she mean? Was she still choosing a major? How many majors did it take her to experience before she set her heart on English literature?)
She's covered almost everything, I think she deserved more than 7.
sometime examiners give unfair evaluation. It happened to me a lot.
She is lovely❤.Though she deserves more than 7.
International AIDS and International Aid are totally different things.......Also, when examiner asks you to speak for 1 to 2 minutes, it doesnt mean you should keep talking until he stops you....1 to 2 minutes means, 1 to minutes
how many of them are watching this video for this girl???
Very intelligent and bright girl. I hope she is ok now.
This is a very good sample of Speaking Band 7. I always show it to mys student so they know how the real situation of the test will be and how to answer to the examiner's questions :)
God, she is so beautiful. My exam is in 2 days. Thank you for sharing your experience, Sawson. Hope to meet to on the Inter- webs.
Thanks to Asad, Now syria is not like what this girl is talking about.
she has a good command of English and it is pretty obvious that she also got too much alternatives of vocabularies but at the end of the interview she seemed to loose concentration and missed the eye-to-eye contact effect which gives a bad impression, but i adore her level of English i wish i could make it like her's tomorrow.
She is not making eye contact that much. It is very important to make eye contacts when you are speaking.
great man ! i thought i was the only one who thought something is wrong about her answer !
Fairly, I agree with you, she couldn't express herself regarding the old music and new music, and why she prefers old one more?
not using those techniques to substitute an adjective by using a complex sentence, which shows the flexibility in English expressing.
I'm really proud to see Syrians like you Sawsan
She deserves at least band of 7.5. How come only 7 ?
there are a lot points to consider. One of them is the "uhmm" sound when she says after a sentence, it is well known that reduce your points at the final. other point is try to use more complex words when you speak, you can check some tips of IELTS in the web, there are a lot of them in the cloud..
That reassures me. My test is tomorrow, I need 6 but I can't speak like her.
being exposed to Arab nationals, i say "for someone from middle east, she deserves 11". aside from that, she's a sensible conversationist
I think she wasn't emotional while answering to questions and her answers were pretty simple. I guess that's the main reason why she got 7
If she got 7, then I consider myself very lucky to get 7.5
beautiful from everyside
She lacks eye contacts most of the time during the test; which could slightly affect your desired score. Otherwise, she seems very fluent and to the point.
She is very very beatiful..
She suffers from limited lexical resource and hesitations specially in section 2.
On that account she gets 7; however I believe she could have given a 7.5.
It shows when a person doesn’t have a generally high level of English but instead prepares for the test. In this case such a person just uses clichés like “I like it very much’ or “it’s very important’, or uses useful phrases from a list of IELTS vocabulary.
she is beautiful :-D
she so cute and her English is good!!!!!
If she said e.g. "I'm a student at Univeristy of.... I'm taking an English literature and I find it really interesting" she would score even 7.5-8.0. People! Remember about full answers not just "yes, no". That's the easiest way to gain scores!

I got a 7 band in Speaking as well. I just believe she was too good!
In my opinion, it is a real record, she gets nervous at the last, she feedbacks, she has long pauses, ...
