The issue is not respecting the voters’ representatives. If they didn’t renew her employment contract, it seems pretty clear she and her Dad would burn that place to the ground metaphorically. Very, Very obvious CRIME happening ! I think these two, father daughter thieves, should be Immediately ARRESTED ! Before they " Skip Town " with all the Towns Money !
I live in a small town and it’s like in the movies. Once my neighbor has some people that wanted his land. Well he wouldn’t sell. So his cows started getting shot and poisoned. Then they destroyed all his equipment. Then my other neighbor brought his tractor to help him. He left it overnight and figured he’d grab it the next day. Well the next day he came to get it and all the wires were cut and tires sliced. Now this old guy kept calling the cops who basically said oh you’re crazy that isn’t happening. Finally he snapped and threatened to 💣 the court house. Then they committed him to a mental institution and the people ended up getting his property. Let me tell ya I have more than one story like that. They even have a no pull over list. Like city employees, city council, mayor, rich people they own stores or have oil, cattle etc. I mentioned it to a lady and she goes ya it’s real I’m on it. I passed the sheriff yesterday doing 90 on a double yellow and he just waved at me. She was dead serious she went to school with him and owned one of 2 grocery stores. The hardware store guys got caught with like 500 plants in Kansas mind you as well as cooking meth. Well everyone heard about it but it just went away. They never went to court. I picked up a cop walking down the street in uniform without his gun or badge. He had just gotten fired because he wanted to arrest the undersheriffs nephew that he had a warrant for. Well undersheriff ordered him not to. They got into an argument the sheriff came in told him you aren’t serving it and if you don’t like it you can leave your gun and badge you’re fired. I could keep going so ya super crooked.
If it looks like impropriety it probably is impropriety. This is why ANY public official should always avoid doing anything that could be seen in that light. An innocent person, falsely accused of something, would go out of their way to be completely transparent to erase any public doubt. The fact that this is not happening here says all the public needs to know!
No. The court of public opinion is not a fair or even a rational one. Guilty people might need lawyers, but innocent people require them. If you think this town's system is corrupt, then you should understand the reasoning of legal protection for all in the first place. ...But your motivation isn't fairness, anyway. You got riled up by journalistic framing and filled in the blanks of the story instead of waiting on the facts.
As a former resident of a small town that now calls itself a 'village', similar shenanigans were the norm. The mayor and the police dept,. literally ran the town overseeing virtually everything, leaving residents with little or no input to the administration of the town. An autocratic rule controlled all town regulations favoring long time acquaintances and friends of the mayor and police chief. Town Hall meetings were closed to the public, no one other than these two had a voice in how the town was run. This does not surprise me to see this video. It's the 'empire' of just a handful of people and no others can interfere.
Resend all those last-minute backroom deals, and then put some poison pills in place so future councils cannot enact last minute poison pill laws and ordinances like that.

Well....that depends which set of books they get too see
@@RobertMiller-ph6fs the bank will only have one set of records
The old city council and mayor didn’t like losing the election, so they passed a law that basically made the new administration completely hamstrung. They should be suing this to the state supreme court.
That's exactly right. There's a new Sherriff in town and the incumbent city government is resisting the change. Tyrants.
There are similar stories all over America Corruption Galore
Every place that has a republican in their government!!!! 👿
Great job reporting on this very concerning matter in this community!!!!!!
Time to get the States Attorney General involved. Definitely smells fishy.
That's exactly what should happen. AG and a full-on audit. Now!
she is the mayor she has the power to order an audit
Small town lol's. The town I live in is about the same. Our town claims to be conservative, but they will spend millions of dollars of state money, just to save themselves 50k on a needed small infrastructure project. My favorite part is when the city manager tried to further justify it by saying 'if we don't spend it, the money will just go to the east side of the state', the east side being metro Detroit.
Get a locksmith. Are they embezzling money??? Pricey cost for a small town. Do they not have to be appointed or elected to their position? How can they approve contracts like that without residents' permission?
There are criminal and illegal acts being committed in this village. Have they uncovered another Dalton, ILL?
WCPO your the best, blessing your neighborhood with voices that need to be heard
This kind of thing goes on all the time. And you wonder why we don't trust our elected officials.
WE DONT TRUST OUR **LIBERAL** ELECTED OFFICIALS FIXED IT FOR YOU TRUMP 2024
When you fear integrity and accountability, you are NOT the good guys
YEP JUST ASK BIDEN
Now, this is great journalism
I don’t think there is necessarily an issue with the two being related, it’s a small town and her family might be a decent percentage of residents. The issue is not respecting the voters’ representatives. If they didn’t renew her employment contract, it seems pretty clear she and her Dad would burn that place to the ground metaphorically. You may as well pretend records from before you let her go don’t exist. There is no reason whatsoever the Mayor and Town Council shouldn’t have full access to everything.
You know damn well those records were tampered with.
Wow that contract is laughable. Major corruption going on down there for sure.
What does the Office of the Governor say..? That would be the place to begin, would it not..?
Very, Very obvious CRIME happening ! I think these two, father daughter thieves, should be Immediately ARRESTED ! Before they " Skip Town " with all the Towns Money !
187.50 per person to pay one person's salary. How are the taxes?
Why is so much corruption popping up in this small towns???
they've always been corrupt.
Where have you been for the Gang of 5?
The increasing lack of small town newspapers keeping watch.
Because of the vile fascist right-wing-nut republicans!!!! 👿
They are ripping off the village and don't want anyone to know.
Oh a good “Thank You” on the tax payers money!!
Please keep us updated.
If it looks like impropriety it probably is impropriety. This is why ANY public official should always avoid doing anything that could be seen in that light. An innocent person, falsely accused of something, would go out of their way to be completely transparent to erase any public doubt. The fact that this is not happening here says all the public needs to know!
Exactly!
Cæsar's Wife had to be above reproach; so should small town administrators!!
The governors office needs to step in and correct this
As a former resident of a small town that now calls itself a 'village', similar shenanigans were the norm.
The state needs to get involved.
Why hasn't the county prosecutor issued an arrest warrant?
Call a lock smith
Exactly
I was thinking of that 2
Really sad
Duh, its called a locksmith! Wow! Google up one near you!
its called corruption
This is what happens when citizens have no interest in the function of their government, pay no attention in what is happening.
Fake job
Resend all those last-minute backroom deals, and then put some poison pills in place so future councils cannot enact last minute poison pill laws and ordinances like that.
That's how fascist work. The Republican legislator in Wisconsin did the same thing when Wisconsin voters elected a Democratic Governor.
bet the past mayor is getting a kickback. check his financials of HIS term!!!
Par for the course for Ohio.
Good investigative reporting
"Sounds like Jennifer Woods is just lovin' on the people," said Tiffany Henyard.
“And ain’t nothing they can do about it!”
The Battle of Athen Tennessee gave us a great example of how to handle corrupt bureaucrats.
We need more of those, I’m tired of “elected” officials blocking out the people they’re supposed to represent. All these “rules” and meetings. It’s a waste.
Seems like there is an awful lot of people on the board, a mayor, a fiscal officer that make 75K for working 9 days a year for a town of less than 400 people! Every man woman and child is paying $187 a year to pay her salary! Something stinks in that hole in the wall town.
Sounds like a lot of theft has been going on. I only want to hear about this again when someone puts the two of them in jail.
