      I just wish you could do a custom championship like in the Dirt games. I would love to do q long season in all the stages/countries in some of the older cars like the 206. It's a shame really, because in career mode you have to start with the boring WRC3 or 2 cars, and I generally dislike the modern cars tbh.

    • @Skumtomten1
      @Skumtomten1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Auto Bot Pretty much sadly. There are a few events in career mode where you can race them, but outside of that I don't think there is any dedicated mode to race the classic cars, which is a shame.
      Yes, lights are needed for night stages, and i'm pretty sure if you crash you can break them and not see anything lol. Wipers are alos included, but the rain effects on the windscreen are pretty weak, so you barely even need the wipers.

    It seems to be a true hybrid cars are harder to drive. Because I drove the same tracks, first in a hybrid car (usually Ford Puma), and then in a WRC car (Volkswagen Polo). The result surprised me, because I have always been faster in the Volkswagen, even though it has 65 less horsepower than Rally1 cars and both weigh 1200 kg. For example I drove 14 km Spanish track on Volkswagen 15 seconds faster than on Toyota Yaris.

    I guess the only people who can answer the question genuinely would be a rally driver. I got WRC 8 & 10 but I haven't got a round wheel, I've got an F1 wheel and a Mclaren GT3 wheel so it's quite difficult. I ended up only playing both games once or twice so I'll hold off on getting this one 😂

    The changes in handling and reduction of the overall grip will probably be mainly due to the regulation changes for the hybrid era. The cars are now indeed heavier, they also have simpler (cheaper) less effective aero, no center differential and the suspension has less travel. Basically FIA wanted to retain the interest of manufacturers by taking inspiration from Rally2 technical rules and making the cars somewhat less expensive to develop and manufacture.

    • @barsorrro
      @barsorrro ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Not only that. With Rally1 cars we are experiencing the return of the 2011-2017 drive-train layout, i.e. the insanity of having no centre diff in a 4WD car. Yes, you read me right. No, I didn't mean no central diff locking -- there is no centre diff at all! The drive is uniformly distributed in a static proportion between the two axles. How are the cars supposed to handle well? They handle like crap, and one can see it quite clearly on IRL WRC onboard footage: the challenge of driving has become to wait till the car consents to turn in an then to play a damage limitation game on the fishtailing on corner exits. Yes, I'm exaggerating. But the cars are nothing like the spectacle of control and power they used to be in the last ever generation of the WRC.

      @@thealexsimulator2068 Yeah... I mean, the cars probably aren't exactly dangerous to drive, but I think they can't be as rewarding to drive. To me, as a former keen follower of the sport, they are totally unrewarding to watch :(. I hate the very idea of top machinery being so much backwards technologically -- no centre diff, no active diffs, no paddle-shifting. In the one area where new technology has been introduced -- i.e. the hybrid system -- we have this stagnating situation where that system is supplied by the same external manufacturer to all the works teams, so that there's no competition in this area. Also, I cannot understand why the application of the boost, rather than being available on-demand to the driver, needs to mapped by the FIA in the ECU -- why?! And then, on top of all this, the Rally1's are now silhouette cars -- just mock-ups of production-car models. Ugh. For me, all of that was too much to take.

    As a WRC game, this is better than Dirt. The physics are good, but if you're into rally and into the nuance of rallying then this game is the best game that I've seen in a long time.
    You can run custom tire setups, the weight is finally realistic and the cars feel like you're actually on different surfaces. This makes the tire selection even more important, like running cross tire setups and stuff like that. I'm even noticing grip differences on types of gravel and dirt, not just a "dirt" grip level and similar. And it seems to vary through the stages a lot more than Dirt rally did.
    RBR is still the rally king, but it lacks some things like tire customization and the visuals that you get in this. It feels like the devs play RBR and tried to push this WRC game toward that general direction with this release. It's like an arcade RallySimFans RBR now. Which I like. With great stages and visuals.
    There is just a ton of bugs with the game right now and there's an automatic clutch feature that is kind of annoying as it can cause stalls on some hairpins unless you're super aggressive with the throttle.
    But once I got the workaround going for my sequential shifter and handbrake to be bound in the game I am having a blast. Great game once you get past the bugs that never seen to go away.

    I agree with a lot of what Gamermuscle has stated. I been playing on controller though and the default settings are way to sensitive so you have to bring those sensitivity settings down under the controller options. Once you have your controller dialed in this game is really one of the best rally games out there at this moment in my opinion. Another thing I wanna bring up is messing around with the differential settings under tuning can help out a lot with controlling your car to your driving style. It took me a bit to learn how to tune these rally cars but once I did I been competitive with the online leaderboards and that’s saying a lot considering I’m on controller. With the junior cars in a rally in Mexico I currently hold 5th place under the leaderboards. In conclusion though dialing in your controller and learning how to tune these cars are well worth the time n effort, it’s just sad to know this is the last WRC game in the franchise. This franchise of WRC definitely left us with a masterpiece of a game n went out with a bang. Nice lil review you have made with the physics Gamermuscle. Keep up the good work n take care man.

    What I find strange is that now the cars feel so heavy, you can no longer do a donuts in the short stages for example in Spain where the co-driver tells you to do a donut. I am just not able to, I can just drive around it, no wheel spin, no smoke from tyres, nothing. Just drive around like you are in a parking lot, feels so slow. Am I doing something wrong here or are the cars really that heavy that this sliding is no longer possible? After this, I tried it in WRC 10 again how it felt and I did a donut just fine, sliding, smoke, spining. I tried with controller, wheel, automatic, manual..... nothing seems to be working. Feels strange, but overall, the game is great. It just feels very slow also in the hairpin corners since there is no wheel spin, when you fail in this type of corner, again, accelerating like a very slow car and not a rally car with more than 300 hp.

    Since the game forces you to start with the WRC 2/R5 cars in career and season mode that’s all i’ve really driven, and i haven’t really enjoyed or understood them, compared to WRC 9 which i love. The throttle does nothing until about 80% and then it kicks in suddenly, making exits and handbrake turns very difficult. The car actually slows down even when holding 70% throttle. The front weight transfer when applying the brake feels like it does nothing to aid in front grip, especially coming from playing RBR recently. Something just feels not quite right to me but i’ll give the hybrid WRC cars more time tonight. Perhaps the throttle issue and overall handling will be better with the hybrid cars.

    I think maby your drivingstyle seems to be your probleme here. You Are a very «late braker». And a rally car with hard front and rear diff, will have problem turning when you Are off throttle. There Are to type of drivingstyle on a wrc car. One, is to brake det car while the car is pointing straight forward, and then turn the car when the tyre have enough grip to make the turn. The most common way to do it, is to set opp your car sideways against where you going. In that case the handling of the car will be more propper to how the car is setup.

    IMO, if going to have this thumbnail you should first provide us with your experience driving a real car on a tarmac circuit, at least a local autocross, something where competing in a real car and going fast enough to experience the physics of a car on tarmac at the limit of grip. Obviously, very few people in the world have done real tarmac stage rally, and even less in a WRC1 car :) so I’m not expecting a perfect answer. Maybe you have real world xp, but driving your car on the street to work doesn’t qualify! So with your xp in video game driving what you really should be asking in thumbnail is how you think WRCG driving feels compared to other games because that’s exactly what you do in this video 😀

    It’s funny that you feel the grip level on tarmac is lowered. I feel the opposite, it’s gone much higher with the soft tires, thats why you have much less sliding on tarmac stages., especially in the fast corners you can drive like an arrow. You almost have to drive them with a F1 car mindset.
    I definitely agree with the less responsiveness in the turns, basically much more understeering than before, which is probably a result of the added weight to the cars. You definitely have to work much more on forcing that rear end to slide in the corners to get the proper rotation in the tighter and slower corners.
    Everything above applies to tarmac. I haven’t done much snow or gravel racing yet, but from the few attempts it’s definitely very different from tarmac. So I agree that the variation in handling between different surfaces is much greater this time around.
    I have been looking for opinions on the realism from real life rally drivers, but it’s difficult to find on the internet. I’m really curious how the realism compares between WRC Generations and DiRT 2.0. It’s a hot debate between gamers 😄

    • @stburr91
      @stburr91 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The grip level on dry tarmac is still pretty low, the cars begin to slide at speeds in turns that regular cars could do with little to no sliding in real life.
      I do agree that the cars are now prone to understeer, while the added weight of the cars contributes to that, the front tires just have noticeably less bit/grip to them. It's quite hard to get the cars to rotate. I noticed that you can only really get the cars to rotate by turning in aggressively, and lift the throttle, then slamming back on the throttle. The problem with this is that if you do this, and the corner tightens, there's nothing you can really do to get the car to rotate any further, and you often will go off. I think the game is the best WRC game of them all, and pretty decent overall game.

    • @Utube2Itube
      @Utube2Itube ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stburr91 Regarding the tightening corners, you can rotate the car additionally using the handbreake. At least in the slow corners. Thats what I tend to do anyway. Moreover, generally speaking, I also tend to use lower gears in the corners to get that extra rotation of the car. Sometimes I even downshift in the middle of the corner to get a more pronounced effect.
