  • John Cleese talks to Eddie Izzard about various topics.
Cleese discusses the time Monty Python failed to make an audience laugh despite betting on it, working with Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe, the talents of The Two Ronnies, and Monty Python Live.
Cleese was talking to Izzard to highlight the publication of his autobiography 'So, Anyway…'. The book, published on the 9th October 2014, … is a must read for comedy fans worldwide. For the first time, John Cleese tells the story of how a tall, shy youth from Weston-super-Mare went on to become a self-confessed legend. En route, John Cleese describes his nerve-racking first public performance at St Peter’s Preparatory School at the age of eight and five-sixths; his first experiences in the world of work as a teacher who knew nothing about the subjects he was expected to teach; and his first encounter with his writing partner for over two decades, Graham Chapman.

John Cleese has aged in every way one must, and have remained young in every way one should.

Yes, but no man, regardless of his age, should ever sit on a chair the way John did in this video...

As interested as I am in the book, I really want to see more of this interview. I'd think the trouble John Cleese and Eddie Izzard could get in to together would be the stuff epic poems are made of.

Fan of both men. It makes me sad that they’re getting older. Love the British humor and unapologetic style.

I'm sure this is a great interview but it's so fucking quiet I literally can't make out anything that's being said, and oh look, there aren't even crappy auto-generated captions. Thanks for nothing.

I hate sitting face-to-face with someone who's telling a mildly amusing anecdote or long joke.
I mean, you don't want to hurt their feelings. But at the same time, you want to strangle them for subjecting you
to the torture of having to appear entertained and on the edge of your seat for X minutes, while staring the
    performer straight in the eyes.
And the more boring the tale, the more excruciating this facade becomes to maintain.
I don't know how Eddie does it. He clearly didn't care for the "Boils" story, but he still sat there with a frozen smile.
