I recently upgraded my old series 7 Samsung 1080P Yes 1080P! to a Samsung Q80C 75" model which was like going from black and white to color! I purchased through my local best buy in Canada. I first purchased the Q70C 75" but found it was suffering from DSE. Big time. I then saw within 2 weeks they discounted the 80C for much less. Then BB matched the 80C to the price of the 70C! Incredible. I also upgraded my old Bose cinema mate sound bar to the Bose 900 with 2 500 subs and the 700 rear surrounds. I am in the lap of luxury now. I have gone through a complete audio\video upgrade and was worth every penny! We are avid movie watchers and my wife says its like watching a 3d movie the picture is so clear. It was also calibrated by BB and that is a first for me as well. So happy with this new set up. It pays to check on prices even after you have pulled the trigger. It paid off for me big time.

For my military or DOD people out there go buy from the AAFES exchange. I was able to buy a 65” Sony x90l with no sales tax for $999 back in December and it got shipped directly to me and the service was great. No tax may not sound all that great but in some places that could be a 8%-10% savings.

June is a good rough end time, but I think it's closer to the first week of July due to 4th of July sales. Amazon prime day sales rock it out of the park too. Superbowl for large TVs, but most of the time it's tailored more towards older models, sometimes 2 years old due to the timing of new year models being introduced in January. Thought I'd also share, Amazon will price match if you can find a better deal elsewhere, you just have to be able to show proof. Another thing I'd say is for those who want warranty, Best buy will match price sometimes, but their warranty does cover burn in' if you're concerned about that.

In mid June I found a Samsung S95C marked down over 60% off its original MSRP so jumped all over it. I admit my first choice had been the Sony A95L, however I could only find it listed for at minimum 230% higher than this Samsung. As a Sony customer in years past I know they’ve always demanded a premium but lately their prices seem stuck on ‘extremely high’ and it is costing them market share. Anyway I knew in advance I was not going to go wrong with any of 2023’s three top tv’s and had no hesitation pulling the trigger on this S95C. I’m very happy with it so far for all the right reasons.

I hope no one is selling the Superbowl sale myth, maybe if your looking for huge low end models 😂 Sony has barely budged on some of their flagship OLEDs since 2019 models, the best time to by a TV is when and where you catch the deal, I doubt your gonna find the A95L any cheaper then $400/$500 off at the most on sale brand new, G4 won’t be too much more off either, unfortunately the only one outta the big 3 that drops the price in flagships is Samsung, which is a marketing strategy it isn’t because their cheap, just like LG gives you the automatic 5 year warranty another strategy, even though they always drop down low on the B and C series but don’t go down too far on the G and M series, Sony don’t give a damn its take it or leave it with them😂

I am the person who wanted to buy the LG G4 77 inch. It very recently in Norway became approximately converted about 1000 dollars cheaper. Now it retails for 4000 dollars instead of 5000. I don’t know if it went on sale worldwide, but this deal at least in my location is lasting from 24th of June until the 14th of July. Some other fact is that the other size models they offer (not including the 98 inch model) has been discounted a few weeks earlier and that did expire. So currently the 55 inch and 77 inch model is on sale during the mentioned time period. As you mentioned in your “you asked” episode you don’t expect it to go down more than 1000$ I ended up picking up the Lg G4 77 inch model and I expect it to be delivered by mid July, I am definitely looking forward to getting it :D

I bought a 77 inch LG c3 2 weeks ago for around 2000$ with a cashback bonus of 500$ to use in the store in Sweden. So basically 1500$. That was an extreme steal. They had it for 2500$ with the 500$ cashback, 20% cashback for all LG tvs. Then they lowered the price a couple days later. Asked if i could price match or if i had to cancel my order and buy it again. I hadn't picked up my tv yet. They did that and i got to keep the cashback. Last year's C2 at 77 inch was 2500$ as lowest.
I was aiming for the S90C and see if that could be under 2000$ now during the summer. But when the C3 got the discount i couldn't wait. I have recently bought a new apartment and a 77 inch oled was the perfect choice. I was lucky to get it even cheaper. 😁

If your tv is pretty old, and you’ll benefit from a new tv drastically I would say don’t want to wait for the April window for the lowest price.
Just before Black Friday, when the retailers institute the really long holiday return period is a sweet spot. Get it early so it doesn’t sell out, if the price drops you’re covered, and you’ll get to enjoy your tv for a few more months (nearly half a year).
For me, that was great as I got the A80J for a price that it took ages to get back to. I didn’t feel like i was buying an old tv, I had a lot of piece of mind regarding the price (and in a way an extended trial period), and had the TV gone down another $100 5 months later, I wouldn’t have cared because of the enjoyment I got.
Obviously if your budget entails you needing the cheapest price possible, i get it and the wait may be worth it if prices do actually get lower.

    Excellent video.
One thing I have discovered regarding buying at a brick and mortar store, aka Best Buy.
If I buy from Best Buy online and choose in store pick up, the tax is LESS than if I walked in and bought IN the store.
How can that be? Well, it appears that you may be able to avoid some of the local sales tax, if there is one, and only pay the state sales tax due to it being an online purchase.

About refurb. Whenever a customer brings back a TV, retailers are not allowed to sell it as new. Many, if not most of your refurbished TVs have nothing wrong with them when they get this TV back. Maybe it didn't fit in the place they wanted to put it. So many, if not most of your reconditioned TVs refurbished TVs have never had a problem.

    Hey,
Can you talk about the upsides (and downsides) to buying a consumer TV, vs buying Business TV. ESpecially in the age of ads (read: spyware) coming on every high end consumer TV, I am looking more at paying more of a better and more robust warranty, and for no spyware.
But is that just conjecture, or factual?

Good tips . similar price pattern in Australia (may and june for best prices ). Main issue here is that due to smaller consumer market - ESP at the high end (flagships of largest sizes) a lot of models never make it here , or are in such short supply that you cant see a good deal.
Aussie equiv of bestbuy/frys etc, didnt even GET the Sony 2023 LED Bravia X95L range, for example, and stuck with X85 and x90 only.
Btw Caleb - I think its cute to imagine ppl having only one or main email address still. Dont we all have several and some throwaway options?

I don't suppose you can do (or have done) a relatively boring show on TV energy consumption? My wife has the TV on most of the day (12 year old Toshiba) and I would love to know if I can get a significantly more energy efficient one, or if the newest TVs actually use significantly more power than older ones. Thanks.

Great advice, and the price matching definitely worth a punt if you have a decent preferable retailer. Caleb, you sold me on the Sony Bravia X95L 85" in your previous review, and now there is the stunning Bravia 9 (OLED challenger'ish)... the X95L has dropped, so is the 9 worth c. £2K/$2.5K more?

I really want the Sony 77” A95L or the Sony 83” A80L, but they don’t go lower than $4,800 or $4,500 respectively while the LGs and Samsungs sell at least $1k less for the comparable models 😞, but like Caleb said on this video “buy what you really want, not another TV just because it is a good deal” 🤔🤷🏽‍♂️
