I honestly kinda love how outright magic tends to be a pretty good answer to all other sources of power. Amazo can be god-like but demon magic is enough to make him ineffective, and then he peaces out. Almost as if to say "oh, i got more stuff I need to study, cool"
I see it as less "good answer to all other sources" and more like, certain sources have advantages over others
In a lot of mediums, Technology is the antithesis to Magic(k) as mankind adopts technological advantages, magic becomes obsolete and disappears from the world, or magic disappears and tech takes its place
So for a technological God, to not be the be all end all in a pantheon of literal magical gods, makes a lot of sense, he has some learning to do, some scrolls and books and tablets to read probably

I think it was an excuse for the writer since they made amazo too broken. It’s likely if he comes back, he’ll know how to counter dark magic
@@andytorres6052n a way, I think it could make sense since the things he copied are physical/biological phenomenon while demonic magic is a supernatural thing that exists outside the laws of science and nature therefore he couldn't understand/copy it.

Since he said "I'm putting you all in grave danger..." I thought it meant Grundy might have the ability to absorb AMAZO's power in some way. Just not having a counter for Grundy magic shouldn't drive AMAZO to leave so completely...
This Amazo is my absolute favorite version, he was just so cool especially since he didn’t look like his comic book counterpart. His look, his voice even his search for purpose in life was compelling and oh yeah he beat the justice league twice without breaking a sweat! just binge watched the entire JLU and the biggest loose end that has been irritating me is where did amazo go after his fight with Grundy and did he ever come back? I want to know!!! I was hoping this video would acknowledge that but maybe you could do it later. I would love more Amazo content.

@@reylanrivas6149 yes, I love the idea of him evolving from an android into a cosmic being, while the other wacky looking version gets broken apart all the time and can only replicate peoples powers. Also the voice actor breathes so much life into this amazo, as a kid I never knew he was a robot, also my favorite episode in the show is when he returns to talk to lex about his purpose, defeating the entire justice league blocking his path without breaking his stride

Amazo is the most overpowered character this side of The Presence
Usually gets defeated in less than ten minutes
I think it's for two reasons, and the out of universe reason is pretty apparent. Because of the stories in which A.M.A.Z.O. exists, it would nullify any challenge or conflict, thus making the story boring and repetitive. The in universe reason I think is because despite being absurdly overpowered, A.M.A.Z.O. is still a very confused, very uncertain character who is more concerned with finding answers to his philosophical questions than he is defeating enemies, protecting anyone, taking over the world, or anything else good guys and bad guys usually do. It's easy to defeat him because his goals aren't usually diametrically opposed to anyone else's.

I always just figured it's because he's a Villain, Villains rarely win unless it's a part of a special story, like Bane in Knightfall, even when they do win, the hero gets them back tenfold in later stories
I always found it funny that an android with the powers of the entire JL always lost so easily
I respectfully disagree, having the villains win more often would make things so much more intersting
Amazo was never really an ask the philosophical kinds of questions character
He was programmed to destroy the JL, primarily Superman, that was usually laser focus
@@ComicBookGuy420 I only know of A.M.A.Z.O. from the Justice League cartoons, so i can't say for anything he's done outside of that series. But in JLU, he wasn't programmed to destroy the League or to fight Superman. Professor Ivo made A.M.A.Z.O. as part of his efforts to find a way to achieve an indefinite lifespan. He bodied all seven founding members only to then become utterly disgusted with the human race after discovering Lex Luthor's treachery. His return to Earth was very much driven by his desire to know more about the nature of the universe. That's why he asks Lex why he shouldn't just destroy all of existence right then and there. He wanted to know what "the point" is of anything being alive. He then becomes and ally, teaming up with Doctor Fate, and returns in the episode where Solomon Grundy comes back from the dead.
Really, as a villain, A.M.A.Z.O. took an entire episode to defeat in his two appearances. It was only as a good guy that he went down easy, and that was a cop out to allow for Hawk Girl to be the one to kill Grundy.
Imagine Amazo spinning around and transforming into the Wonder Woman costume.
He should be able to do that with martian manhunter's shape shifting.

I think you're over-thinking Amazo's evolution. He absorbed so many powers he effectively became a god, just like Doctor Manhattan, and went from physical to non-corporeal as he evolved further into a celestial entity. I think once you reach a certain evolutionary stage, it just sort of progresses exponentially until like V'Ger, you reach the limits of how much you can grow within the confines of a single universe and you start tracking down your creator to ask him, "Is this all that I am? Is there nothing more?" To which Lex Luthor answers, "I don't know, but I want to live long enough to find out." And then Amazo decides to let all of reality exist.

Considering the Source Wall is canon in the DCAU and it's apparently where Lex found the Anti-Life Equation, and it's made of several petrified golden-ish beings, I think that may be a good answer to where Amazo got his more god-like powers.
I always assumed it was the source wall considering if he could absorb even a fraction of that power he would be a god just like what we see here
Im late, so sorry, but he could've likely explored around the universe and beyond, reaching even Apokolips and New Genesis, and since he can casually send all of Oa to another dimension, he probably even explored the multiverse too.
My favourite version of Amazo to this day, I'd like to see this version of him adapted into the main comics. Yes, he'd be highly overpowered but they'd find a use for him.

I always thought a tier list of strongest DCAU characters would be fun. I think the 5d Imps that disabled Mxys powers would be #1.
That was honestly just a copout because they realized he was to powerful. What makes it more obvious is how Hawkgirl's mace was the only thing that could stop him and that was the first weapon Amazo copied.
Moreso runs from Chaos Magic, which can feed off his powers. He didnt run away because he was afrais of Grundy, but afraid that getting close to Grundy would allow him to absorb more power and become virtually unstoppable and more or less a god-like being, which I dont think anyone wants on their hands.

AMAZO not being able to take out Grundy was annoying but it had to be done because he could "snap his fingers" as you say and solve every problem.

To the end of that episode he used his copying abilities on a star before he left that’s how he gained the gold-yellow aura or look
Dr. Manhattan is also part of the DC universe. Amazo said no universe is denied to him no matter how big or small. It's likely he met Dr. Manhattan and learned from him.

Amazo was such a good idea guys at MCU made their own Amazo named ultron-vision
That Grundy plot was just the creators realizing how overpowered Amazo was, even though he was actually very interesting. The plot of that was “Amazo uses his special golden beam. Grundy absorbs it. Amazo leaves to find out why.” It really was just to take him out of the show since he would’ve made it a lot more boring with Darkseid and Brainiac being one shotted if Amazo was still around.
I certainly wouldn't be sad about a couple episodes of Amazo travelling around the universe and learning stuff
That would have been cool, I wish we could have seen him make another “RETURN” in the show, I liked him.
I think the best part of Amazo moving an entire planet to another dimension was that he did it because he was too lazy to fly around it instead.
Now that I think about it, 'Amazo is lazy' could serve as your standard excuse for basically every time he doesn't use his powers in an optimal manner.

Make it make sense
There is something morbidly funny about Amazo saying "Ill come back when i have a solution" then never returning because they dont have a solution, but no one can come get them because they teleported so far away. I hate it but it is objectively funny.
He can also change the rules of chess because when he checkmates Aquaman he just takes the King with his Queen, instead of trapping him like in actual chess. In fact, if you see the move Aquaman makes before Amazo wins, he moves his pawn out of the way of the Queen, that in actual matches would be considered an illegal move and he would either lose automatically or be forced to take it back.

@@dcauwatchtower He replicated it in his own way, that's what Amazo does. Like Hawkgirl's maze, he doesn't 100% replicate it since he can't replicate enth/inth (whatever the name) metal of the maze.

I'm surprised/disappointed you didn't bring up the creator commentary where they admit they forgot to have a scene in the last episode showing Amazo on a space rock wondering if it was safe to go back yet. I know that doesn't have much to do with his powers, but it's a fun Amazo fact regardless!

He very much does use Hawkgirl’s wings until he absorbs the powers of Wonder Woman, who can also fly. And he has Superman’s symbol. And Flash doesn’t have “bolts” when he runs in these shows, just a quick blur like Amazo ends up with. And we don’t see him shrink down, he’s just already shrunken by the time we know he can do that. So...

I’ve honestly never liked AMAZO’s Green Lantern powers. It makes no sense. It’s like copying Iron Man and getting his suit. Because by the logic of getting his power ring’s powers, when he tried (and failed) to copy Batman, he should have gotten the powers of his utility belt or something.
