Enjoy this slice of the quieter life here in Bangkok. Stay at The Canal House - tinyurl.com/3zaphz7p Hidden Bangkok Boat Tours - instagram.com/hiddenbangkoktours/ Gary @theroamingcook Do you know any other areas of Bangkok you would like me to experience?
Khun Paddy, the area along Phasee Charoen canal may be underestimated but it is not so remote corner as Nongchok district of Bangkok where you can spot those farmers planting the rice and there used to be a boat service up to Nongchok ... but now only a few BMTA bus and van along with the local minibus are the mean to transport from Nongchok to Talad Minburi near Talad Minburi Monorail station. Another place would be Talingchan area and Thawee Watthana area along Mahasawat canal.
OMG! I went to International School Bangkok from K-12 and remember that guy. I wish there was a way for us to reconnect the next time I'm back in Thailand. I fondly remember him and I'm sure he would remember me if we shared information back and forth. I would love to be able to reach out to him. I graduated ISB in 1985.
Amazing video Paddy. I love these off the beaten path places. Boys will be Boys! I am not jumping in that water! Thanks for the epic tour of Thonburi !
somehow this bring tears to my eyes. Bangkok has such a special place in my heart. I visited Bangkok probably 50 times in the past 25 years and yet i have not really seen this side of Bangkok. Thank you soooo much buddy for showing us, I m humbled btw 19:57 i recognise Finley immediately lol
Doing what you do best !!!! Did this 2 years ago, best experience in Thailand. A 10 out of 10 rating. Not only did you capture the amazing sights, you also got the feeling this place gives off. A different & better world.
I will be visiting Thailand and Bangkok for the first time in November for 5 nights and staying on the Thonburi side. Thanks for the video. 😊 This is the side of Thailand that I want to see.
Awesome Paddy. Nothing takes my breath away more, than to come around a corner and see a massive Buddha appear above the rooftops !! Makes my heart sing every time 🥰🙏
When I'm in Bangkok, my wife and I stay at her place in Prawet. Gotta get over to that neck of the woods. And, wow, so many culinary surprises! Gotta love that ... dcb
Fantastic video Paddy. I lived in northern Thailand for a year in '94 when 18 for my first overseas experience. I've been back a few times since and Thailand has a special place in my heart. Your videos provide lovely trip down memory lane. Thank you
So good to see this side of Bangkok and the locals, especially the kids - so nice they got to experience their own home from the waterways. I can't wait til I finally make it to Bangkok and will definitely be doing a Hidden Bangkok Tour!!
What an amazing video - showing the peaceful side of Bangkok where life is so much simpler. I really enjoyed it. It reminded me so much of my childhood. I was born 65 years ago in a wooden house like those along the canal. Klong Saensab to be exact - which is now where Central World and other sky-scrapers stand nearby in central Bangkok. Like those boys in the video - I had one of my first swimming lessons in Klong Saensab. Really enjoy all of your videos Paddy. Great job!! Keep them coming!!
I went to RIS (Ruam Ruddee International School) in Bangkok in the early to mid 70's. ISB was our arch nemesis back then. Fried bread is "patongo", usually for breakfast with boran Thai coffee - hot. You can dip it in sweet condensed milk. I dipped mine in boran coffee. I have not gone past Wat Arun and that was in 2019 with my son. My next trip I plan on staying in Thonburi instead of Bangkok. It is the old Thai city life and I remembered the Thai canal lifestyle and happy memories. Thanks for the tip, Paddy!
We really enjoyed this quieter, non-touristy look at Bangkok. Would love to see more of the lesser known areas and authentic Thai life. This was very well done. Thank you
What an awesome video Paddy! We were in Bangkok in February this year but didn’t have time to check this place out:( We cannot wait to do it in December and thanks for sharing this amazing side of Bangkok 😊 glad to see you back in Thailand:)
Thanks for the video, I booked the Canal House for a few nights in November. I really wanted to go to Koh Wai and stay in P1 but back to my usual Bangkok and Krabi. It will be interesting to avoid my usual spots near Nana, Khao san road and Chinatown.
Hello I am Thai but I live in UK 3 years ago this place it’s closed my home as well I love your video thanks enjoy your time in Bangkok I been to Thailand every year 😊
Great video as always! This is also what i love the most about Thailand and Bangkok. Meeting and experience with the locals and just talking about everything in the afternoon with a couple of beers. Life can be so easy if you just let it😊
I love the canal tours, I even have a piece of art made from a photo I took on the canals made of recycled denim by a local artist. I take all my visitors there too
Amazing video, Paddy. I've been in Bangkok for five years now, but I've not visited that part of the city in such an immersive way. What a great idea; I've added it to my own bucket list. 🙏🏼
This was great! Definitely doing one of these tours next time in Bangkok. There is so much to see and if you don’t know, you don’t know!! I love Bangkok city
Wow, your videos really bring out the wonderful humility, friendliness and contentedness of Thai people, WHICH IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE of the people who live around me in Washington, DC
My first visit to Thailand, I went on a tour like this. Didn't understand the importance of being in that area of Bangkok. But going to retire in Thailand and looking forward to seeing and learning much more 😀.
When I was in BKK, I was the example of the typical tourist that only went to the temples and posh spots. I did also go to the floating markets and Chatuchak Market though. I never explored areas like this so thank you, Paddy.
Hi Paddy just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate the channel and your videos. I loved in Bangkok when I was a child and your videos bring back so many memories. It has changed so much but I can almost smell Bangkok when I watch the videos. Keep up the great work. I know its a great deal of work but many of us appreciate it.
We stayed in Ohms other house just around the corner. Wat Nak Klang community is amazing! We found it soooooo much better on the other side of the river amongst the communites and away from all the other tourists.
Another winner Paddy. LOVED the vibe and all the featured guests. Shout out to the bbq squid lady. And a special hello to The Roaming Cook/Dad (Hi Gary and little man Finley!) If I can ever get to Thailand I would definitely do a Hidden Bangkok Tour. I’ve seen people feature this tour before but haven’t see such a great interview with the owner. He seems super cool & I love he started a business where he grew up. The boys were sooooooo adorable. Such a charming area. 👏👏👏👏👏
This is amazing. I’ve always been fascinated by Thonburi and this just proves my fascination is well placed. I’m definitely going to look up and book Hidden Bangkok Tours after this.
We have done a Tour with them and it was awesome. Thanks to this video we have been aware of it. Thank you, Paddy! We‘ll never forget the impressions of the tour!
This was so wonderful. I'm moving next year to Cha am. This will be my go to every couple of months. Thank you so much. I've dreamed of seeing a place like this. And riding the boats.🎉
Hey Paddy, gorgeous Places, Ohm is a great Guide ! Thonburi is amazing, fascinating side of Bnagkok, love the canals and life there, the boys are free and no water shy - i want to see the big swimming lizzards as well ✌Yummy squid,😋love it chewing as a good tasty snack with a Leo ! Cheers to you Paddy and Gary & Fin 👍👍local life is what we surch to have unique moments and fun 😊🙏
this video capture the chill relax quite atmosphere of Thailand so well, in comparison to busy rushed noisy Vietnam ( saying after living 7 years in ChiangMai but last year in DaNang Vietnam, so I get better perspective on Thailand) this video has been kept in my mind since i first time watched it, and i cried after rewatching it, cuz i really struggle deciding between Vietnam and Thailand, both have so many of its own great pros and cons. btw love your story telling, and how you interact with locals, compared to other stupid travel vloggers where majority of content is the couple talking to camera or each other, or about their own opinion, and rarely or never interact with common local people
This is our favourite part of Bangkok 😊 Great vlog Paddy 👍 Hidden Bangkok Tours is for sure the most friendly tour company in Bkk. Think we will have to try their tuktuk Tours next 😉
Hello paddy from kildare Ireland 🇮🇪.. I really love your videos they are truly inspiring especially this one the laid back life of the most magnificent city of bkk. Thailand is amazing country amazing people. Take care yourself. Stay safe 🙏
Great video! I went on a Hidden Bangkok Tours trip a few weeks ago and they were great - from the booking process to the tour itself. Such an interesting side of Bangkok.
In the early of Bangkok period ( King Rama 1 - 5 ) This canel is Nobleman and Hi Sociaty residante zone because near Grand Palace and easy travel to work by boat. So Nowaday you will see many HI-So house be side the canel
Tuk tuk driver took us to the very expensive restaurant because he got % from our table. Bad luck turned to good luck, the waiter introduced this tour to us. We were able to experience this canal tour, the point where 4 canal meet is very pretty. Not many people know about this, even my friend who is from Thailand is not aware of this place.
I visited this place for a day last year, and I can vouch for everything you mentioned. The people were incredibly cool, the food was delicious, and the overall culture was fantastic. It makes me wonder why foreigners tend to focus on the so-called popular places. By doing so, they miss out on experiencing the real Thailand.
I took a similar boat ride while visiting Bangkok. I called it the dire poverty tour. It was one of the more memorable things I did in Thailand. Some would call the tour a scam, I called it an amazing memory.
Nice VDO indeed and I really enjoy watching it. As a Thai person myself I feel so sad seeing some garbage floating in the canal where those young boys're swimming. The adults living along the bank of the canal shoud set themselves as good examples in helping to keep the environment clean.
Such a lovely video 🥰 I had the pleasure of meeting Ohm and Gary at Songkran in this area earlier on in the year. Such a peaceful area and a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle. Looking forward to the next video 🙂

I stayed in Thonburi my first week about 2yr ago, little more away from the canal than I thought so didn't find the places Gary said were good in his vlogs 😒but got to go a river floating market tour. Not sure if I seen many other foreigners in the area, the others that joined the tour came from outside Thonburi
I loved taking the water taxis. A little confusing to figure out for a jet lagged tourist. But super cheap, quick and cool to see another part of the city.

Do you know any other areas of Bangkok you would like me to experience?
Well... I'm thinking about getting a tattoo at California Ink so if you wouldn't mind trying them out first that would be just dandy 😂😂😂
A deep dive into Wang Thonglang, Lat Phrao could be pretty cool. So many gems hidden there...
Thank you so much Paddy . My mom loves this so much ❤
You can go to Suksawat area or Ratburana area and explore. 🙏

I love this in-depth video of Bangkok. I hope you do more videos like this one. Thank you, Paddy.

This is so good mate! Thanks for having me on as always ❤️
Looking well Gary hope you're doing good
Proper little cameo, treacle. Bosh! 👍
We stayed in this area of Bangkok for a month, plenty to do, temples galore, night markets, great to explore canals. It's a great area.
Sounds great!
Best video about Thailand/Bangkok I watched in the recent years. Not repeating the same old contents most people made. Love it. Keep it up.
I stayed at Canal house in 2018 and Ohm was such a good host!
Aww thank you so much ❤

Thanks for sharing ❤
Loved this vid. The dude who said he worked at ISB caught my attention. I went to ISB for two years 50 years ago. Retiring to BKK in a few months.
16:46 it tastes and smell like Norwegian specialty dried fish. Extremely good with beer :) I will certainly give Om a call .
Danke!
Must be out of your mind to swim in those canals. BTW, I like the antique radio in the room.
น่ารักเเละสวยงามมากค่ะ ฉันชอบวิถีชีวิตเเบบเรียบง่ายค่ะ
boys will be boys, that part with boys was so wholesome, especially finishing with the sunset, i just can't 😍 your best vid
Thank you so much!!
คุณใจดีจัง ให้น้องๆสามคนนั่งเรือมาด้วย น้องๆคงดีใจที่ได้ล่องเรือทัวร์ครั้งนี้
Finally a new interesting video about BKK, I have been in this area a few times, like it a lot and great content work Paddy! Cheers for it
Amazing video Paddy! The canal house and boat tour will definitely be on my "to-do" list for the next time visiting Bangkok.

Def one of your best videos!
Loved that video Paddy! Really great to see a new area of Bangkok and a particularly relaxing video, much enjoyed as always
By far the best video of Bangkok I’ve seen. Personally, I won’t to see the locals, and what they do, think and want. 😊
Wow, thank you!
Another Awesome Adventure Thank You Paddy Doyle 🙂❤👍Watching from NB Canada🙂🙂🙂
I visited this place for a day last year, and I can vouch for everything you mentioned. The people were incredibly cool, the food was delicious, and the overall culture was fantastic. This was one of your best Paddy. Really enjoyable and I might just visit there now.
Appreciate you so much Paddy, for the entertainment, and for not gatekeeping information.
I had a fab day there 7 years ago , my boat driver took me home for lunch with family Ton bury is fantastic , sorry bad spelling
And again a wonderful video. What an idyllic corner of Bangkok. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely loved this.
Lovely relaxing video.
Need more like this 👍🏻
Such a lovely video 🥰 I had the pleasure of meeting Ohm and Gary at Songkran in this area earlier on in the year. Such a peaceful area and a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle. Looking forward to the next video 🙂

Love these types of videos in Thailand. Thank you!
thanks for the insight. Coming to Bangkok soon and will definately visit this area. Can you please tell me where this "most incredible view onto the Big Buddah" is? How to get there and what's the name of the coffee shop? 🙂
Omg Ohm (ออม) and I have the same name! Ohm is my family’s nickname for me. Never thought I’d meet another. Thanks so much for taking us on the tour Paddy!! Def gonna check out Hidden Bangkok Boat Tours on my next trip ❤
18:47 we have these in Australia, usually in Chinatown or Asian supermarkets and it’s always served with Condensed Milk👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺 it’s the bomb 😀😀
