Having travelled in north and south India by bicycle, there is one thing I've learned. If you have an electrical or mechanical issue with anything, motorcycle, car, truck etc, just stop someone and ask if they know anyone who can help. In my experience, there has always been someone who can help, or at least point you to someone who can help. The rest stop would have been an ideal place to ask. People in India love to help, it is part of the culture.

Same in Vietnam, I had a flat tyre so I stopped and looked left and there were a bunch of people fixing bikes, this is common place in Asia, pay them a little money and they will fix it and possibly offer something nice to eat or drink

@@Stuartrusty This couple only knows one thing is to complain and grum. They don't know how to adapt to a different environment. England and the west is not the whole earth. They judge people and places with their prejudices instead of finding a way to solve their problem in a given situation. People in India are always ready to help. They will go out of their way to help. These guys criticise India without realising that their forefathers have looted our country. These thieves have stolen out Kohinoor Diamond and have kept in their museum to earn money by showcasing that jewel. Shameless couples.

Have travelled in a van in Thailand and instead of a coventional horn, its air horn had Police, Ambulance and Fire appliance sirens. Half way, we stopped so the driver could refill his " horn" with more air. Its surprising how many vehicles move aside for a sirdn rather than conventional horn.

    Indan road rules
    1. there are no rules
    2. the horn is a must for overtaking.
    3. The bigger the vehicle the more right of way it has.
    4. Flashing head lights from oncoming traffic means get out of the way I'm coming through.
5 Horn is the most important part of your vehicle.
    6 Expect the unexpected.
    7. Driving down the wrong side of the road is acceptable if done so with caution and constant use of the horn. This is because often there are concrete barriers in the road not allowing a U turn for up to 10 miles. So people take the the shorter way.)

29:53 that means If you want to bypass that truck, first honk-wait-only then if they give side to you to go then go, don't be in hurry or take shortcut, inform first by honking or else it may lead to an accident!

It is common for the horn on these vans to have issues from time to time due to where it is located, near front wheel arch area under air filter side and bolted to side wing, the cables often get dirty/corroded from water spray on the roads, cleaning the pins can sometimes help, the other issue can be with the steering wheel, lack of contact with horn because it needs more grease, either way hopefully a simple fix for you. It certainly looks hectic in India.

31:46 see, there is a sense of understanding grew up among the drivers that how to drive.
In India, the only rule of driving is to keep moving forward towards your destination either slow or fast and adjust the path as available. Just keep informing the surroundings that you are moving forward and use honk, tail tights or anything just to make sure the driver in front of you knew that where you want to go. It is as simple as that.

Greetings, 'Khira' is Cucumber only and "wait for side" means that before you try to overtake the truck wait till the truck driver gives you some space by moving to left. It was usually used when roads were not having dividers and only a line divided the to and fro traffic.

Wrong way driving is not allowed in all the cities in India. It is regarded as offense in most of the renowned cities of India too. In Bengal border, Bihar and UP mainly have the issue of not following the driving etiquettes. Also about the road conditions, it is mixer of good and bad High Way Roads. Still in process of making good roads.

Loved the festival scenes by the river - and that is a nightly event??? Brings back the memories of being there many MANY years ago! Glad to hear Chris is feeling better - I DID feel the last two videos blogs were a bit samey (endless "oh cow/bike/truck/narrow space/market!") and just dashboard videos. Can understand now that Chris wasn't 100%. Welcome back!

In India it is always a good idea to drive behind a truck or any other big vehicle since they make way for you.

How lucky to see the celebration in Varanasi, another white knuckle ride to your next destination, takes me back to our tour of Southern India where we had a private car with an Indian driver my nerves were shot every day, they certainly take some risks on the roads!

At 41:33, In Thailand, that left "Shoulder Lane," is the designated motorcycle lane that motorcycles are supposed to use. Cars and trucks must watch mirrors on both sides for bikes and illegal cars on the left as well as vehicles on the right. Did you read the road laws in each state of India? Finding a driving school usually helps find the road laws on the internet.

Extraordinary. There are no road laws in India. Both sides of each road, including motorways, are fair game for anyone! Lucknow is the centre of Muglai Cuisine if you can spare the time. Also the Residency is very haunting if you can find a guide to show you. An epic site in the struggle for Indian independence.

I think probably due more to a very corrupt system. Just like every country but here it’s blatant. Even if they had a good rubbish collection the whole vibe would be better.
