Grew up in Germany for part of my childhood, about 3 to 5, in two places, then again from about the age of 9 till 19, in another 3 places, before returning back to the UK. I would then find myself back in Germany at the age of 26 to 27 when I was serving myself, so quite a few memories. Often reminisce about things that are uniquely German, that were part and parcel of everyday life, but completely foreign to many others of course. It has already been some 25 years since I was last there.

Great vlog as always Joe. Like you, I have always had a good relationship with my ex-wife and my children and grandchildren. Its funny isn't it how after all these years we can still enjoy our ex's company. Glad Gift and Sonja hit it off ok. I liked the look of that butchers shop and the square in Hanau with the Town Hall and the statue of the Brothers Grimm. Like most people of my generation I was brought up on Grimms' Fairy Tales like Cinderella, Snow White, and my favourite Rumpelstiltskin, which I found a little creepy! And of course I read them to my children as well! Had no idea they came from Hanau though. Loved the castle and it's grounds and breathed in when the excellent bus driver slid past the other bus. mid 80s, facing the statue, looking left, there was the big department store, with grocery store at the bottom & basement; a Wendy's, & a Tschibo coffee shop(could alwasy smell that good coffee while walking around the plaza). there was a greek restaurant across the street, facing the statue.(free shots of ouzo with each meal). i was surprised at the number of immigrant koreans there. was nice to spend weekend afternoons strolling around Philipsruhe or Wilhemsbad. & the langersamstag market at the plaza. there was a fire at philipsruhe, summer of '84

Love and miss Hanau, I went to H.S. there ,C/O 87.. 4 amazing years across from Pioneer in Sportsfield.. great times w amazing memories.. its funny because my verry verry first love from my time there (A German lady) has hit me up after decades...tbh she almost looks the same from our youth🎉🎉..were both divorced ,healthy and happy in life and who knows- maturity and age imo is a gr8 combo so we will see..😊.. Thailand is still on my list since I am now retired , but if we manage to recapture eachothers hearts maybe I'll bring my sand to the beach in Thailand..haha😊..Quick ? I wonder if you knew my "Step dad" out there, he was stationed out of Fliegerhorst around same time u were there?? Different last names of curse lol ..Gr8 channel btw

We had heavy rain here in Prachuap about 5 days ago and then again yesterday morning, here in Klongwan at least. It is much needed as the reservoir is dangerously low and the water quality is jeopardised. Some days there have been water cuts during the daytime. At least the air quality has improved since the rain.
We were told that the water was cut by us in Kho Ta Mong Lai as well.
With Joe and gift on this trip you could do a drinking game for every time Joe says “nothing looks the same” you take a shot of liquor! 😅😅😅
And it’s one thing to be on speaking terms with your ex but it’s something different all together to have her play your guide on your vacation. Gift is amazing!!

Wow, your ex looks like my mother's cousin Helga . I remember pic's of her and my moms family when my sister went there in the late 70's to visit my uncle stationed there. My uncle "Top/ Master Sarg" Armored division was stationed near Munich then ! You probably know his location ( base) but all, it's a very nice trip, dude !

Am familiar with Hanau; had a memorable, unforgettable experience there while stationed in Frankfurt. OMG! Joe is bringing back even more memories by mentioning the types of wursts I have sampled during my stay in Germany....it's ALL good! My first look at a German mall and Sonja is so nice too. I add to my commentary as I follow along with your video. Considering my "senior" status, it's necessary lest I forget my thoughts if I follow the video to its conclusion.
