When I received the dagger, I didn’t change my hand and ran normally. Another alternative is to wield the handle of a dagger or rapier and the ACIDIC CRYSTAL SPEAR BLADE blade. And we get a classic poison dagger.
This is the best weapon in the game IMO. You get everything in one weapon; fast attacks, high damage, long range, good combos, and great stagger (it even crits!) Both the blade and the handle have great Fable Arts, which synegize well. Some people may not like the lack of a skill Fable Art over the buffs, but once you get all the pieces together, just spamming R2 on enemies does way better damage and stagger than most FA skills. This combo carried me through NG and now in NG+5. The crits allow the damage to stay on par even on those higher NG cycles. The weapon is a very high recommendation from me.
Staggering enemies is pretty fun , and when you press R1 for the fatal blow on your opponent, is phenomenal. But timing your blocking perfectly can be a pain, but overall, it’s a really good game

Once I focused more on the block, the game has been so much funner, and it’s the first game I’ve played in a long time that gives off such a satisfying feeling everytime I kill a boss, last game that I felt this was Sekiro. But yeah, good luck, hope you have fun and enjoy it!

Especially when your opponents turn a glowing red , it’s kind of tricky, but I am having fun with this game. SEKIRO was good too. @xNightxxWingx ive struggled more with parries in this game than sekiro. Which surprised the hell out of me bc that one took me a while. Ive relied so much on dodges and stuff, but got to apoint where that wasnt going to cut it for aome of the bosses 😂.
Id like to add that while the attacks are slightly slower, if you use the city longspear handle it has a ton of extra range, along with the fable art of increasing your attack temporarily which i feel really plays into the build well. And you have the exact same scaling as the wintry rapier handle. Just something i was playing around with and had a lot of success with. Lmk if any if yall try it 🙌 Just thought I'd add the city longspear handle is also a "stab" handle, so no worries about losing damage there👍

Imo this build is better with the tyrant murderer dagger's original handle. It attacks even faster than the wintry rapier handle, and it steps forward plenty with each attack, especially if you do the backstep strong attack, which is a lunge with huge range. The most important advantage over the Wintry rapier handle however, is the much faster charged strong attack, which makes it much easier to stagger enemies when their healthbar is white.
I’ve just been playing it like this before finding this video and while I get the range idea of the rapier handle, I find the rapier handle frustrating to use due to its bouncy move set that makes it hard to control the character’s positioning relative to the enemy as you keep bouncing back (though that makes it safer to use on bosses, to be fair). The dagger’s default handle is awesome and hits like a machine gun, and you can hit so many times so fast that it simply overwhelms most enemies before they can even respond. And yeah, it staggers constantly.
Totally worth it. Every bit as good as any other souls style game. Tons of QoL upgrades over even the likes of ER. Tough enemies, memorable bosses and an actual storyline. I’ve really enjoyed it and wouldn’t bat an eye at full price.
Maybe late but yes, def worth it. I'm 40 hours in just started NG+ and unlike other souls game here you actually unlock more stuff through p-organ with multiple playthroughs making new runs even more fun. I see around 120 hours of content and DLC are already confirmed.
i am using the puppet string arm and upgraded to the attack link, however when i pull myself to the enemy it does not let me jump into the air then i attack. i am playing on PC (i hold down ctrl)
I notice this happens to me on PS5 as well. My suggestions are: - Do not try this skill on enemies that are on stairs or inclined ground i.e. ensure a clear even line between the enemy and yourself. - Do not try to combo this skill i.e. don't attack link, jump back and try to attack link again immediately. - The follow-up attack after pulling yourself to the enemy has a separate legion cost than shooting the string. Make sure you have the extra legion for the follow-up attack. - Remember to hold down the key until the attack starts. The attack will not automatically play from just pulling yourself into the enemy's face. You need to hold down the button till the attack starts. I think this is a bit of a glitch (just like how the Aegis legion arm will not always trigger the explosive on block). I hope it gets fixed at some point. Attack link is an integral part of my playstyle (because I hate trying to block/perfect block)
@@Aetheroth yeah whenever I hold down the legion button to do the jump trace attack, my character will do the attack but not actually jump above into the air during the animation, he just stays at the same altitude as before during the attack animation. Could it be a bug ?
@@saggydumpling7532 It could be a bug, or certain enemy attacks (or windups) were coded to cancel the attack link. This has happened to me a few times and pissed me off (as I almost get killed in game when it happens). Remember that the attack link does not give i-frames. You can get attacked at every moment, and I've had bosses pluck me out of the air before the drop part of the attack lands. But if the jump attack is constantly not happening, it's a bug. First try holding the attack button (L2 for me) till you see a jump. Otherwise, try resetting the legion arm at the statue and modifying it again. Hope it gets fixed for you.
I think this is a fine option as long as you play around the moveset. While it doesn’t control space as well as the wintry handle, it does provide some extra range to a moveset focused on quick multihits. Against many enemies, you end up doing most of your attacking right up on them anyway, since even the large, lumbering ones have so many options to close distance and/or punish you for playing mid-long range. Also, since the game is so stingy with upgrade resources for a good portion of the journey, I have only had just enough crescent moonstones to level two blades to +6. Since the dagger is the last weapon you find before the puppet king, which is a great example of where the measure of your weapon doesn’t really matter, you might have already spent your upgrade materials on other blades. Thus, the slightly more rapid moveset of the knife handle combined with an already-upgraded thrusting blade makes for a good combo. Plus, the normal heavy of the wintry handle has a back step, which almost exclusively got me hit by attacks which would have otherwise gone over my head. Finally, the rapier blade on the knife handle looks very similar to a Gigante-inspired rapier that a friend of mine put together, so bonus style points
These builds are a little weak Fextralife. I might suggest really delving into the possibilities of blade and handle combinations. The only thing stopping you is your imagination.

The most important advantage over the Wintry rapier handle however, is the much faster charged strong attack, which makes it much easier to stagger enemies when their healthbar is white.
Exactly this, there is ko reason to change handles, id even argue you loose out on damage choosing the Wintry Rapier handle, the daggers own handle lets you have more combo attacks, 3 for charged heavy and even the 3rd attack in your lught chain sttacks twice
It's best on the town spear handle. Turns the weapon into an insanely fast spear with long range, fast heavy attacks that can be spammed like crazy. Huge stagger, damage, speed, and range all in one.

Tyrant Dagger with City Long Spear handle is very excellent and versatile. DMG increase + Critical Rate increase. Great range and good damage

i'd get gamepass for 10-15 bucks and play it that way, the game's worth the full price, I just don't ever pay that much for a game.

@Aetheroth yeah I tried it on the dummy without arms at the hotel. It still do the attack but not jump into the air. Suck. I like the animation too.

The Wintry Handle has an awful moveset. Just following most of this guide and using the original handle you can do insane damage.
Ive heard it recommended for the fable arts being the gaurd parry but i dint hsve the dagger yet to really give input. But ty for the heads up!
