Hi, love your channel. I have a 2024 Ioniq 5. It is my first EV and I truly love this car. I do wish I could have waited for 2025 and a rear wiper but I needed a car. Software can’t fix the lack of a rear wiper but there are some other things that could be improved. I want just five things from you Hyundai. In order of importance to me they are: 1. Persistent i-Pedal. Let me set that as my default and make it stick. 2. Let me use Carplay and Android auto route planning apps to plan and navigate routes with charging stops and integrate that with battery pre-conditioning. 3. Walk away locks. (I know this would put a dent in your sales Corbin. Sorry buddy). 4. Give me the option to manually pre-condition my battery. 5. Move the speedometer reading to the centre of the display. That’s it. Not too much to ask, I think.

I thought the update was fine, although I wasn't expecting anything major (like wireless AA/Carplay). The sports feature and adding stops using voice commands are meh. The new seat warmer/cooling interface is great. The changes to route planning are also good. Getting ridof that initial pop-up screen was much needed. Also, the route overview now shows arrival SoC, percentage to charge to, and duration for each charge stop. It also shows number of stalls and availability, as well as SoC on arrival at your final destination. Manual preconditioning would be great.
I’m guessing the reason for the delay of the first update of 2024 is to prepare for the Tesla super charging software. The second update for 2024 will probably coincide with the Tesla supercharger software integration that we will have to go to the dealer to get updated.
In my update the state of charge at navigation is now also displayed. Before the update you had to go find it in the "Add stop" submenu. I'm not that concerned about the wireless Android Auto feature, but I would like the preconditioning button.
They also cleaned up the charging screen in the Bluelink app. Nothing huge but the interface is a little cleaner and you can easily turn on preconditioning. I wish they would make the maps more readable, especially in night mode.
You cannot turn on Pre-conditioning from the app even with the addition of the item in the menu. It only displays the status of whether or not the feature is enabled in the infotainment system. Really a pretty pointless addition as you cannot interact with the control.
I have an 2024 Ioniq 6! And live in Canada. I now always get a message on the screen when I hit the Start button saying: “Map update required. Contact the Hyundai Bluelink Support.”. Tried the associated 800 number. You get the familial IVR messages, the 7th level deep. It gives you another phone number to call for mapping updates. I called that 800 number. That also was a dead-end. Went to my local Hyundai dealer. The tech told me that mapping updates are not done OTA. You have to go to a Hyundai website and download an exe file onto a USB jump drive. I thought to myself: “You’ve got to be kidding me!!!” Anyhooo, I went to the website in question, and the update was only for the 2023 Ioniq 6 model year. Not the 2024 model year. Then, why do I have the message above appearing on my car screen when I start my car?!?
Why is the MY2024 Ioniq 5 still not listed in the Hyundai navigation updater?! Anyway, I recently did the V11 update on my 2024 and everything works fine! Btw, awsome job Corbin 😊
holding my breath for the manual preconditioning. Also, I do my planning, select charging stations for road trips and hope this will not mess me up to much.
The sports results thing feels like a real slap in the face for any car owner with Gen5W. All We want is battery preconditioning button, wireless AA.. what a joke.
The new seat climate controls are the best part of this update. Something I've seen but not mentioned is there are now construction zone icons on the map along with the new stop light icons. So now the map must be getting live data about construction zones?
I got the update on my Kia EV6 and experience the same issue when trying to access the Sports app, keeps saying Kia Connect activation is required even though it is.
@@scootercrossking I had the same experience. When I drove the car for 1 minuteafter updating, it automatically activated Kia connect and everything worked.
Completely disagree with your opinion on the Navigation system…I have used it for 3 years with Inoniq 5 & 6 and it blows away the tracking google, Waze or Apple Maps. Great re-routing and have always been able to EASILY locate charging stations that I am able to filter to my preferences
I took possession of my Ioniq 6 on September 3 and since then Blue Link has not connected. This 1 month later. Maybe Hyundai could offer us on Apple Car Play.
Kona Electic I've not heard of but must be a new model. ;) Unfortunately unable to make your meet-up event for one living across the other side of the globe to you but also involved in another Electric vehicle event where I live.
Do these updates include enhancements from previous ones? In other words, if I skipped the previous update, will this one have it's features in addition to the latest features?
I have a MY24 Kia it’s cheap for a reason. Lost wire free CarPlay on base model to get wired CarPlay but now I have keyless start just hit start off oof that’s hard for a trade off
The update that I would most appreciate is the ability to slow the charge rate of the fast chargers. We do not always have to bang the battery with 250kw. ..This would increase longevity of battery!!! It is odd that you can slow the rate of the level 1 and 2 chargers but not the fast chargers.
I’ve got a 2020 palisade and the previous update wouldn’t install at all stating wrong version even though I used their app. This update did install without issue however it broke bluelink. Not impressed given the delays.
Just went on the Hyundai Canada website. The new update is shown but the list of eligible vehicles does not include the 2024 Ioniq 5. It includes the 2022,2023 and 2025 Ioniq 5N. That is weird !
Is there some fundamental reason why the Ioniq 5 cannot have Apple Airplay? Originally I thought it was because Hyundai didn’t want to pay some kind of licensing fee to Apple, but they’ve obviously eaten that cost now so unclear what the barrier actually is.
I read somewhere along the way that it has to do with the contract Hyundai made with TomTom that required it to be wired for AA/Carplay. I wish they would add it, because my USB port always fails which seems to be a big problem with Ioniq 5's. Then i've gotten in bottom of the line Tuscon's that have wireless AA/Carplay and even a 2019 Chrysler with tomtom maps that still had wireless - very frustrating indeed! I would have guessed Gen5 infotainment just didnt have the wifi hardware required, but if GV60's of the same generation can get the feature retroactively, it must be capable in Hyundai/Kia variants.
I just bought an Ioniq 6 about a week and a half ago. As far as I can tell, I don't have this update yet. I believe I should have had it OTA. Is there a way to force the vehicle to search for this update? Thanks for any info you can give 👍 Edit: just got it. I can't tell any difference.
I'm curious of what is your experience using non-built-in gps. Can you have the car preheating automatically? Is the HUD still usefull? Since its android auto and not google automotive, does it allow you to plan for chargers stops?
That depends a lot on what nav app you are using, and its integration with CarPlay/andriodauto. Preconditioning is only activated by the in-car nav set to a charger, which is why we are all asking for a manual button. Setting a destination in a CarPlay nav app cancels in-car nav, and vise versa. Like the Highlander, there can be only one (app giving directions). If I want to have Waze warning of hazards, and preconditioning going I have to run Waze on a tablet that’s not CarPlay. HUD usability has been limited but we have reports here that with Android there’s better HUD integration, but not specifically what has improved. I haven’t tested the newest CarPlay to see if I get anything in the HUD or directions dashboard widget when using Waze. (Update just installed, and it’s crappy weather to test drive right now)
Hi Corbin. How come in the update navigator installer doesn't provide for the 2024 Ioniq5 model? Should I download the 2023 G5W update for my 2024? Thanks for your reply.
@@TheIoniqGuy thanks so much for the info. Sometimes you wonder how they build such great vehicles and they can't get the simple stuff straight. Always watch you and you went passed my home in Drummondville on your way to Québec city.
There are rumors that even though Ioniq cars have hotspots that they're just not physically capable of wireless carplay/auto so I basically gave up immediately and got a wireless adapter.

The seat climate is definitely nice. I thought it was interesting that Chargepoint’s chargers are in Hyundai pay now and am thinking Tesla will be added to that when they open that soon
If you haven't seen any messages on the screen when you start up the car then the OTA hasn't been pushed to your car yet. You can update manually if you want. I will be releasing a video on Sunday on doing that.
@@TheIoniqGuy Thanks for the quick reply. Has anyone else noticed that the names for most side streets are simply not displayed! This is why I always use Google Maps (via a wireless Motorola dongle).
Corbin at the end of the latest episode of “Batteries Included”, Kyle Connor mentions that he’s meeting with Hyundai engineers to talk about e-gmp cars charging on super chargers and then will make a video about it. As another person planning on buying a 2025 I5 I’m disappointed in how it will charge on super chargers and so I’m interested in the topic. Thought you might be too. The only other disappointment is the lame fob. 🤷🏼♂️
@@TheIoniqGuy Thanks, that’s good news. I’m not expecting that Tesla will improve upon the situation any time soon, but short of that it’s nice to just have the information to understand why things are as they are. It’s not a dealbreaker to me obviously, but it is disappoining.
Any range improvements in the update? I recently switched to using level 3 instead of Auto regen and was surprised my mile per KW went up a lot. 30%. Guessing that is just the regen change.
My range has gone up as well about 20 percent. I don’t know if it has to do the fact the weather has been in only the high 80s vs high 90s or the update.
Another odd thing: i used to have the wifi hotspot available in settings, and since the OTA update it's vanished, which is nice, because I'm still stuck payinhg Verizon $20 a month for it until I can figure out how to unsubscribe...
HYUNDAI truly don’t listen to what us owners want 😅 “oh I know let’s push out sports scores” 🙄 the app and infotainment system is so dated for such a brand new car
Background music is WAYYYY too loud. And distracting. I'll just download and read the transcript. Great update, even if not much. I do like the nav stuff, though.
It is so frustrating to drive, arguably, the best hardware electric car on the market, with if not THE worst software, at least some of the worst. I just want an Ioniq 5 with Rivian software. Is that too much to ask?
Ughhh i just want hyundai to add wireless apple car play to the ioniq 5 already. Its so annoying that they said that they already added it on the previous update but im unable to use it. Like come on and another important thing is the MANUAL PRECONDITION BUTTON we need that asap.
It is crazy the warmer pop up wasn't noted. The only thing that mattered on the update. Let's be honest Hyundai doesn't care. Ford actually cares more about updates and they are not the most customer centric company.
Corbyn, You often say you are about "all things Hyundai, Ioniq 5, ...". But in this update video you say "I don't use the built-in navigation". But there are those of us out here that _do_ use the Built-In Navigation (because I don't want to fuss with a cell phone while driving). May I suggest you bite-the-bullet and learn enough about the BIN to serve those of us who do. Compare-and-contrast episodes between the different BINs in the different cars _and_ between them and whatever nav system you do use would be of use your audience. And while I am here: Have you suffered any confusion switching between the Ioniq 5 and 6 because of the steering wheel controls layout? It would appear that the Ioniq 6 design will be the standard from here on, but I don't see the need for the swap in the first place. ((congrats on what you are doing; have fun Cars and Coffee ...))
It’s funny that you say that. Yesterday, I did some navigation with Hyundais system going back to Boston from CT. After this update, I’m now feeling like it’s gotten to a point where it’s actually fairly usable especially if you have a car with a HUD and can see your instructions in that versus not with AA/CarPlay. I will definitely be doing at least one video on the system and using it for some travel
While lack luster, its a Hyundai not a Tesla. Is it dumb to not update to wireless carplay/AA? yes, very dumb. Does the sports app work? nope. but outside of those two things this is the type of "update" i expect from "legacy car makers" to me the only two things truly missing from the ioniq 5 is auto lock and wireless carplay/AA. anything else they add/tweak outside of maps/charger updates is a bonus.
Well… a few changes, but nothing major. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s just a temporary holdover toward a much more significant upgrade when the 2025 IONIQ 5 rolls off the line in Georgia.
Despite this 2024 September software update on my 2024 Ioniq 5 - I am still facing the slow Level 2 charging. So frustrating that Hyundai can't figure this problem even after years!
European Ioniq 5 had that spports button all the way since the beginning / 2021 and whats funny is that it was only sports that were completely irrelevant to europeans, NFL, NBA, MBL.... im surprised it was not a thing in the us, knowing that it was a very north american centic sports feature
This update is kind of a disappointment but at the same time I think we'll get another one by the end of the year or beginning of Q1 2025 as the new 2025 I5 with the NACS port will be introduced in the NA market and thus it would make sense for Hyundai to OTA at the same time a software update to add the SuperCharger as POI (route planning) and being able to start/stop the charge from the car at the SC (needed if Hyundai do not want us to use the Tesla app)... this would make sense but Hyundai software release contents doesn't always make sense... Let's hope for an update that will include : manual battery preconditionning start/stop, ICCU charging the 12 VDC aux battery when main battery SOC is > 5% instead of >20% (I really don't care to have 20% SOC if I'm not able to get in the car and start it because the 12V battery is dead...), customizable charger target arrival % SOC...brake lights that stay off if I'm travelling at 70MPH down a small decline on the highway with SCC set at 70 and SCC is keeping the speed steady why would the brake light gets turn on... seems that normal behaviour since my speed is steady shouldn't be to indicate that I hit the brakes...
It baffling why Hyundai makes the effort to build a great car but completely drops the ball with respect to dealership and after purchase support. I bought a Genesis in 2017 betting that I’d be happy with the “Genesis” experience soon after purchase. Three years later it was worse (Covid didn’t help) with no signs of improvement on the horizon. I sold the G90. Now I’ve taken the plunge into the EV world with the I5. So far so good but the dealer experience is still subpar. Fortunately I don’t have to deal with them much. Sad.
I don’t think I’ve heard anyone rave about how great the service dept is at their EV dealer. But I would expect better from the brands charging a premium for a supposedly better experience. Fortunately the service required for a GV60 is nearly all rotating tires, and occasionally inspecting things. But unfortunately appointments are booked solid for weeks. who plans tire rotations more than a month in advance?
The sports score addition is asinine. We want wireless CarPlay!!! It’s absolutely frustrating that Kia & Hyundai want our money, but don’t listen to their customers after they’ve paid over $50K for an EV. 🤬 (I still love my EV6, just frustrating that these updates are almost a joke.)
you should really stop with the android auto wireless, everyone i know including me hates it, it drains the battery (of the phone) and make the phone really HOT. it's WAY better when plugged in. Charge the phone and and doesn't makes the phone like a hot sun Even the rear wiper, humanity did survive with about 88% of cars without it... You should really focus on realy problem, like ICCU, 12v battery, the services hyundai gives or even the preconditioning battery ''button'' those a real issues the others mention above or just convenience nothing else. But with that said i really like your video like accesories !

More useless stuff. Why can't they do useful stuff like my Tesla model 3 does. We took a road trip with that car recently rather than our Ioniq5 to use their charging network. The software just maps it out for you, it shows how many chargers are there and how many are in use and it also shows how many cars are approaching the charger so you can figure if you want to deal with crowds there or not.
So you start your evaluation babbling about a small, incidental part of the update. Why belittle the entire OAT update that way? Boo to you. Why did you not start with showing the welcome, though small, but still valuable improvements to trip planning? I, for one, was disappointed in your approach to this.

i don't know why they did not show 2024 model, but you can select "2023 Ioniq 5" and it will work. It is what i did witl my 2024 I5
holding my breath for the manual preconditioning. Also, I do my planning, select charging stations for road trips and hope this will not mess me up to much.
November 3rd is actually when my work slows down I might be able to attend this event and bring my ionic 5 d100 too!
That would be cool! I haven’t seen one in person yet
I want launch mode (regen 0-traction off-full brake-full throttle-release brake) and better sounds of nature. They obviously don’t be in nature 😅
Any info on how many chargers added to navigation to help with preconditioning in winter?
The sports results thing feels like a real slap in the face for any car owner with Gen5W. All We want is battery preconditioning button, wireless AA.. what a joke.
Man, I'm sad I can't come to the cars and coffee! I'm about 2,000 miles away near Salt Lake City, UT. If you ever have an event out west count me in!
The new seat climate controls are the best part of this update.
Something I've seen but not mentioned is there are now construction zone icons on the map along with the new stop light icons. So now the map must be getting live data about construction zones?
In Canada we don't get OTA updates. I have a kia ev6 gt line pkg 2. And we don't even get the sports add-ons most Americans are complaining about.
I consider the new HVAC screen to be a big win, the original was so confusing. If only we can update the illusive“Warmer” button…
Will the Ioniq 6 get wireless CarPlay do you think? Mine arrives in about 4 weeks 😬
I was hoping to get wireless CarPlay but nah I have a 23 stinger GT2
GV70 owner. Love CarPlay. Sports app- it’s there but it doesn’t work. Says I need to active services- which I already have. Any suggestions?
Do these updates include enhancements from previous ones? In other words, if I skipped the previous update, will this one have it's features in addition to the latest features?
Yes, they do. Just install the latest and you’ll get it all.
Definitely sad that Hyundai doesn’t take its software seriously…. 😒
That is weird !
yes it is weird, but just select 2023 Ioniq 5 model, it will work good
The meetup sounds awesome but I’m on the wrong coast and can’t attend
Thanks for any info you can give 👍
Edit: just got it.
(Update just installed, and it’s crappy weather to test drive right now)
Please let us know if you manage to fix your bluelink pairing issue with sports/hyundai pay. It seems to be a common issue for a lot of people
Hi Corbin. How come in the update navigator installer doesn't provide for the 2024 Ioniq5 model? Should I download the 2023 G5W update for my 2024? Thanks for your reply.
Yes, it’s the same system as 2023. I have no idea why they completely omit an entire model year from the list. Makes no sense whatsoever
I still remember when a bought the car, I was told that wireless apple car play was coming.... it was even published on the official site, now it's gone...I wonder why!? what a joke...
The warmer button is now pointless with the additional seat warmer/cooler in the climate screen where it should be.
I can use the button entirely by feel without taking my eyes off the road. It’s great to have in n the screen if the passenger is tuning the climate, but please don’t take my button away.
The seat climate is definitely nice. I thought it was interesting that Chargepoint’s chargers are in Hyundai pay now and am thinking Tesla will be added to that when they open that soon
Is that how they’re going to handle payment when you plug and charge? Makes it hard to use a discounted charging plan..
@@ChuckvdLpure speculation by me but I’d imagine they would
How do I know mine has the update?
If you haven't seen any messages on the screen when you start up the car then the OTA hasn't been pushed to your car yet. You can update manually if you want. I will be releasing a video on Sunday on doing that.
@@TheIoniqGuy my latest was July and I’m getting “please check the device containing the update files and try again”. Thanks for replying back.
Are you saying the that the Navigation system was updated OTA?????
Yeah, they’ve come OTA for nearly two years now
@@TheIoniqGuy Thanks for the quick reply. Has anyone else noticed that the names for most side streets are simply not displayed! This is why I always use Google Maps (via a wireless Motorola dongle).
@axion8788 yes agree. Very disappointed as I am a taxi driver it would be very useful. So I use android auto with Google maps
Kyle texted me and let me know and I sent him some questions that you guys have been asking me so he may press them on Superchargers
@@stigidty mine was the same 20% but my temps were mid 60 to 77.
I have no sports item on the menu in my genesis. Not sure I’m disappointed. I’ll gladly take the wireless CarPlay in liew of a sports tab
There’s no background music for the majority of the video
@@TheIoniqGuy I figured it out, TY!
It is so frustrating to drive, arguably, the best hardware electric car on the market, with if not THE worst software, at least some of the worst.
I just want an Ioniq 5 with Rivian software. Is that too much to ask?
Genuine question. What do you think is so bad about the software?
Great thumbnail 😂.
I updated my 2020 G80 sport and no wireless android auto!!
Wow haha, sports scores ... they have some serious prioritization issues then. Why not wireless android auto/carplay for all systems ... :(
Ughhh i just want hyundai to add wireless apple car play to the ioniq 5 already.
Ford actually cares more about updates and they are not the most customer centric company.
it was about time we got sports scores….its been too long.
Have fun with the event! Been to many fun Hyundai meets over the years.
@kia this update sucks. No wireless update but genesis gets it ?
European Ioniq 5 had that spports button all the way since the beginning / 2021
and whats funny is that it was only sports that were completely irrelevant to europeans, NFL, NBA, MBL....
im surprised it was not a thing in the us, knowing that it was a very north american centic sports feature
Pointless update…. Even though I have no expectations somehow it still disappoints.
Really disappointed with the update...
Still unbelievably childish in that it won’t recognise Tesla chargers.
Charge the phone and and doesn't makes the phone like a hot sun
Even the rear wiper, humanity did survive with about 88% of cars without it...
You should really focus on realy problem, like ICCU, 12v battery, the services hyundai gives or even the preconditioning battery ''button'' those a real issues the others mention above or just convenience nothing else.
But with that said i really like your video like accesories !
thumps up @paulovincente2954 (in the comments) he adds nice ideas !!
Look, all I want is a regular gauge cluster instead of this ugly looking cluster they got going on
More useless stuff.
Look, all I want is a regular gauge cluster instead of this ugly looking cluster they got going on
