My 2006 Volvo V50 T5 runs like a dream and looks like it just drove off of a new car lot. My mom drives a 1993 Volvo 940 wagon that runs like a champ and the body and paint condition are near perfect even with over 400,000 miles on it. Love the Volvos

You must! It's the law. You can get big penalty so it's courtesy with the traffic law against you.
It's the Autobahn with free speed so it's is very dangerous if you not move. You can in some cases lose you driving licence.

I currently own a 2007 model of this car with the same diesel engine and it's great as a first car. Bought it for around 2400 euros and it has worked like a clock for me in order to get to back and forth from work. It's reasonaby comfortable, decent sound system, easy to drive and reasonably fuel efficient for it's age.
how is it for maintenance costs and reliability?
@@aguafria9565I still own it and thus far i have replaced the egr cooler but that's it. Other than that i have just made a regular service with oil change, oil filter, air filter and coupe filter. All parts were cheap and fairly easy to replace. I have not turned it in for service at a certified volvo mechanic so i do not know how much it would cost but probably not much considering the age of the car. However i have read online that the usual problems with this perticular one, the 2.0 d can have problems with the egr but that's basically it. If you don't want this one you can probably buy a newer model like the D2 or D3 that are pretty reliable.

This car is 17 years old and it still goes like the first day. There are many many v50s in my country from 1st gen driving around without any rust, which just proves the quality of volvo cars from that era. Not sure about newer models.

step on it bro...i went 210 with my v50 2005,no problem...and it still had some "guts " left...i think it goes over 220 no problem...and its very stable at that speed...its a volvo...it should be...

the peugeot 2.0 hdi is a suprisingly good engine matched to the ford focus chassis makes for a great handling s40-v50

Thank you for that video. I own the same Volvo V50 2006 for two years now, with this engien and I was waiting for such video. I did with mine 200 km/h. But in my country (Bulgaria) the roads are terible and unsafe, I was scared :D Anyways, love the Volvo. Thank you !

@@tavy6899 well only the 1.6L diesel is ford, d5,t5,2.0 and 2.0 gasoline are volvo. and the car is purely a volvo, only the engine is ford kid.
@@nekkosuperfire6852 Incorrect I'm afraid. The Volvo P1 platform is derived from Ford's global C-car platform, as Ford owned Volvo between 1999 and 2010. The 1.6d is a PSA engine. The 2.0D and 1.6 gasoline are both Ford engines, D5 and T5 are Volvo (T5 used in the Focus ST and RS). The C30, S40 and V50 are based on the Mk2 Focus chassis and use a lot of Ford parts, I have a 2009 S40 and many parts are common between the Focus and any other P1 Volvo. The 1.8 is also a Ford engine, however I don't know where the 2.0 gasoline is from. Please make sure you know your stuff before calling someone kid.

I have V50 with 280K on it and drives like new, never any problem with some small things only like a Light bulb (20 euros fix) etc..but engine goes like new and it still only eats 5,3litres per 100!!! incredible and now getting the XC70!!! older one, as trusting more the older Volvos built!

@@user-nh9vk8jc4h It is not a dodgy sensor. You can clearly see the drivers left hand activating the high beams. But, sure, blame it on the car not the driver. And even if it would have been a faulty sensor, the driver should have noticed that he was driving with his high beams on and turned them off. Still a bad driver

@@pastorn410 Got an identical one, march 2004 make. When empty to full tank never filled with more than 42 liters. So, small tank, exceptional car.
You should see the fuel gauge on the 2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo S on top speed.. Fuel tank 120L lasts around 25 minutes at that speed. :P
Once You hit 200, the car graduates from a sippy cup to a beer mug!

The volvo v50 is a great car. I've fist had a v50 1.6td but i got some issues with it and sold it then i got a v50 2.0d cat momentum 2008. It had alreary about 160k km, currently at 362k km and the car still runs smoothly, no engine problems so far, just minor things... you'd ne surprised to know, shhh it's a secret... every car needs maintanance so yeah don't be discouraged because people had some bad experience with it. Well anyway in my experience the volvo v50 is a great car for everyone, good engine, relaxing to drive especially in long travels, good quality overall, 10/10 safety. 10/10 would recommend

My 2005 2.0L D sport with 199k still pulls like a train.
Mine does too and it's at 256k .. still on it's original high pressure fuel pump, injectors and turbo from factory. Only the clutch and dual mass flywheel were replace at 190k
Its quiet fast considering that's its heavy estate car with only 136hp

Drivers in Germany seem so much better than the ones in the uk. Over here all they do is lane hog while in the video everyone respects their lane and moves out for the overtaking vechile thus improving traffic flow

Did it once in my 2095 V70 d5, wasn't very enjoyable. Have since done it in my 2011 V70 2.0t r-design and that was much better. Btw autobahns are not what they used to be due to a lack of maintenance in the '90s/00s and there are less and less unrestricted parts.
That's why, right now, I prefer polish autobans with the limit of 140 where everyone goes 160 😁
You can't even imagine what happens when you drive at 99 r Renault Talia at 170 180 kilometers per hour. That's a ride, believe me. I've got such a car😁
Had 3 volvos like this one. All were great cars. Made 320 kkm with 2.0d.
