Yeah you're right they both have great graphics , cool gameplay Although honkai is way more older than Punishing gray so it will have inferior graphics compared to it but it still has probably the best story I have seen in a video game ( sadly I don't think punishing gray will have God like story but it's still too soon to tell ) anyway rather than leaving one for another it's better to play them both
@@moebarabitch Like APHOs map is cool (idk about kolosten, it looks a bit clunky but that’s just me) and the event where you get the cool Durandal skin has a nice map as well. But some older valks have cool animations as well (AE, HoT, HoR) (im assuming you dont mean the ancient valks (LE and such)
I like both tbh but PGR is more of my style, they just lack the budget mihoyo has to create fancy cutscenes and their story isn’t as quite clear or fleshed out as honkai. But who knows maybe with global we will see major changes to that and also one comparison that isn’t in the video is f2p friendly. That definitely goes to PGR and I respect them for being on the friendlier side
@@FallenSankta ......... Almost all of them plus the ones I saw before I played them ;-; (For better understanding I had already seen about Honkai impact before playing it I, apart What would I say that they have rewritten a lot of history because there are changes that weren't there before, I know this from a friend who played it long before, almost when the game just came out).
@@zemer1406 arpg is its own shit lmao it ain't a honkai thing, if we were talking about mhy, they do copy a lot of shit from DMC and other game, don't talk about copying other game when the game literally have different mechanics, play style and skill wall
both comparisons are only using basic free character, not characters from gacha or other sources where there's going to be more flashy and faster combat, though I like PGR due to character design and combat effect suit my taste
As for me, since Honkai wad released a long time ago before PGR, many things make it better than something that just got released later on, I would say for a fact that PGR's gameplay is quite smooth and Honkai is on the more flashy style, this is my opinion for now because there still time for PGR to grow and Honkai is no different, both games are good in their own way
@BegissoR【東方Multi-Genre】 I've seen them. I'm not talking about the whole community, just specifically this comment section. Please stop taking everything as a personal attack
if you are talking about my comments, then yes it's a personal attack against honkai with their yuri mc, all female playable char, and killed himeko (I'm toxic and still bitter about it) well if I speak objectively, honkai wins for now.. pgr doesn't have fully or even half voiced story, which takes the fun away, generic male chars (kamui and lee entrophy), and mediocre story telling (which I hope it can be improved) but see this pgr have something, even if story only, you can play as a villain boss, that's a first for me, all that optimization for middle-low graphic phone, not to mention that lucia alpha skill, those things is I believe PGR has potential to be at even position with honkai or maybe can surpass it, given a few year (if it's survive) in the end personal reason works in favor, even if honkai is better games than PGR (for now), I still like PGR and it's a relatively new game I feel like the game dev is similar to king's raid, small company but releasing a quality games
I'd rather play pgr because Honkai impact uses so much storage on my phone plus pgr has a more easier combat system and it's f2p friendly There is a lot of ways to get so much currency in Pgr and every single day in Pgr it will keep providing you with so many quests filled with Currency you need for doing a Gacha and you can level up fast in the game. And there are more male characters.
I admit honkai impact 3rd has a very good storyline and it's visuals are pretty cool however I usually get bored in honkai impact when there is really nothing to do once your done with quests and eventually run out stamina.
Having played both, I'd would say Honkai overall have better story depth/character development, while PGR have smoother execution early on. Let's consider the "first phase" of both storylines: For PGR, events leading up to "Final Fight" For Honkai, events leading up to "Final Lesson" WARNING: INCOMING WALL OF TEXT I won't be spoiling the story, anyone who wants to know more should either play the games or watch clips on it personally. 1. PGR PGR starts off with a bleek world view and smoothly tells the dark reality humanities live in. The overall tone of the story starts gray and gets darker, with character dialogues often having this realist/sarcastic undertone. A significant theme with characters' dialogue is one's position in their environment and their desires. The game also occasionally allow players to project themselves into the story with witty/goofy/serious options as the commandant, or be in the shoes of the villain in the hidden chapters. This consistency makes it easy for players to get into the atmosphere the game was aiming for. Key moments with Lucia hits off as the peaks of the pressing storyline and most of the character development is experienced through her. 2. Honkai Honkai on the other hand, has a very light-hearted beginning. From chapter 1 to 4, the events in the game play out no different from a typical shonen anime, and the captain in the Honkai verse doesn't really participate in the story, so during this time the game mostly feel like a power fantasy about school girls (Yes, the highschool/training arc is there), offering only bits of hint to a deeper story at times. The initial chapters set the tone for characters to center around hope and friendship, with dialogues expressing the characters' bond with each other, and can seem quite childish at times. It is starting from chapter 5 that players were hit with the events prior to the game, and a darker shift in tone for the story, introducing depth of characters and lore outside of players' expectations. This offers a more jarring experience than PGR, however also allows key emotional events to hit even harder, as characters' emotions/development is greatly emphasized through the gap. 3. Conclusion: In regards to story's depth and tone, I'm more fascinated by Honkai's. The storylines of both story have an enormous amount of backstory, expanding the scope of events further and further. However, while PGR answers most of the plot devices early on, Honkai bundle the questions up and answer them in batches, allowing the space for more to be connected to the story. The same can be said for character development. I was quite sad with the reveals and the disturbing descriptions/dialogues in PGR, but it never seems to hit off the peak for me. Honkai made me cried twice. And for someone who didn't cry when he hit his lowest point in life, I would say that is something note-worthy. If I have to give a description (my opinion, please don't be mad), PGR is like Nier:Automata without the escalation of weird robot/alien shenanigans, while Honkai is Madoka Magica with a clearer enemy (and a VERY deep if you are willing to consume all the visual novels and mangas).
@@thuglifeganyu7543 Yes, i'm still playing PGR on the CN server. Regretably, I don't understand Chinese and have to base my understanding on either subbed videos or story discussion in comments, but I'm quite sure I understand at least 70% of the current chapter's plot. (The same with CN honkai's chapters, really) . Keep in mind what I said above is based on the first phase of both games, and the scope does grow later on, with more variety in interactions between characters. However, I haven't changed my thoughts on the two games having different focus and execution when it comes to story progression.
it gets better later, so far at the beginning it looks lame compared to pgr but on later stages the enemies and the characters you get in honkai becomes way more cooler and awesome to play with
Both games are great on their own. For new players, PGR is more forgiving and unlike other gacha games of the same title, much more skill-expressive(Yes I,ve been clearing shit in extremely dangerous difficulty and you can get through as long as you know how to play properly). Honkai has better story because that is bound to happen for a game that's been running since 2016 on CN before releasing globally in 2018. But PGR is better for those with not as much storage on mobile and it is also good if you care about your organs.
I see some people comparing honkai and pgr combat systems is dumb Honkai is more combo combination like DMC ( attack button has different way of pressing it to make different combo some characters has combination of A and B button to make combo) PGR is more skill button base like old RPG game (1 auto combo the rest is activated skill button the special is no cool down) This makes the both game difficult in their own way so there no reason too compared
@@gaming1zanagi-1999 the skill level is the same too me pgr has limited dodge so it make you pay more attention to the dodging if it has unlimited like honkai the boss would be way easier also honkai do have boss 1 shot your character and the reason why boss in honkai feel easier because most of them are big monsters easy to dodge more then humans boss type are harder too dodge the same whit PGR
Played both, if you have draining storage and still want to play honkai or something alike it then I recommend pgr because it has lower storage, atleast for jp which i play in. Also for the cutscene for pgr, you can look up them, i think they have cutscene in game although, i usually keep the story cause i don’t understand
Hello, I dont speak English very well but I like both games really! I think they both have an amazing storyline and amazing characters, but PGR is nice since it has male characters. Although I still will play Honkai Impact since I got attracted to the characters way to much! I hope I do the same with the PGR characters so I also get depression!
@@flamemano Jesus again people have their opinions. Don’t go being toxic because you think you opinions are superior, which they aren’t because your opinions are of the same value as mine or his. Also I have a reason to play honkai, because I think it’s good.
@@akkunichinose3426 sadly PGR being a new game mobile hack & slash but it doesnt have jump combos wich kinda is a fail for me even if it looks better because is a 2019 game vs 2016 game lmao, Honnkai is trying hard to look better in the lastest chapters ;). Even the extra mode (PHO) have jump and aerial combos ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. PGR has better overall music anyways people can enjoy both game instead of trashing each other.
@@akkunichinose3426 See, thats where youre wrong. It isn't just my opinion that pgr is an upgrade from honkai visually, nor is it an opinion that that acquisition of characters weapons and memories (stigma) are significantly easier. It is also not an opinion that the animations are smoother and that the slight changes pgr made to the combat allow for more skill expression. I get it, you like honkai for whatever reason, I myself am probably going to continue to play it. what im not going to do however is delude myself into thinking it's a good game (it isnt) especially now that it ACTUALLY has a competitor (and one that is objectively better in every way conceivable). Honkai is getting to be a bit old, and that is clearly reflected in its animations, its graphics and its gameplay. Likewise, Mihoyo is a dumpsterfire of a company and their monetization tends to ruin every game they touch, honkai is no exception to that. Now here we have the folks over there at kuro games (publisher / developers of pgr) making mihoyo look like total fucking fools. Like I said, you like honkai, I get it, I might continute to play it myself, but lets not pretend that honkai being "good" has anything to do with that
@@flamemano it is good but for the whale territory ... not the f2p and low spender ones + honkai is more time consuming which makes the game kind of boring and yes it less skill based and more towards the meta ( the herrschers)
As a grown man, Honkai is the only game made me cried 5 times... If u played Genshin and liked it, you can trust the quality of the Honkai. When you reach chapter 7, u cannot quit the game...
Well it is the growth character on honkai are amazing Kiana from clingy ahoge girl become mature heroine dependable girl And mei from motherly lover figure for kiana evolve to anti heroine cold and independent but both of them still have deep understanding relationships That's awesome
Ive played honkai for about 2 years and man it’s a good story , I like how it comes from cheery highschool girl to super deep and dark , it brought a lot to the table (story wise)
Since Honkai got released first, would it not make sense that their starter characters are not as good since there isnt any standpoint games for them? Also, wouldnt Honkai obviously be more storage consuming due to the animations and effects they had? Just curious, not wanting to throw hate on PGR but the amount of reasons I see are just these kinds.
Honkai has great animations but I don't know why I get bored after a week, I stayed with PGR, I love the character designs, environment, gameplay, and sound effects. Like each character has different faces, designs, moves, attack animations and weapons and I love em all
@@Ohmagat69420 Ahh I get it, 1. PGR has lower pity(60 pulls pity) with 100% guaranteed for debut character banner and 80% guaranteed in 30 pulls pity for weapon banners that goes forever, so whenever a new character comes, you'll get excited knowing that you'll get him/her and maybe even the weapons if you save enough. 2. Specified Character's memories(Stigmata in Honkai) can be obtained through grinding events. 3. The characters look more mature, I like them(Just personal taste)
the part they shown about honkai is literally just the start they didn't even show the exciting part of honkai nor haven't even shown the herrschers or flamechasers, the comparison is a bit unfair for honkai
I'm playing both. But yeah Honkai is superior thanks to how much has to offer after so many years after it's release (just like wine it gets better the older it is) PGR it's still a child it has room to grow
@@mr.jokermaker4539 all i can say is that the combat is completely different in both of them Especially honkai its way more flashy after progressing and the story cutscenes will be much better and there is even cutscenes animated like a actual anime with good ost Pgr combat become more better too especially after mastering it and pgr will require you to be more skilled Both are completely different than the early game stuff Thats all what i can say (there is more stuff)
GI players when the legend of neverland released:WTF THEY COPIED GENSHIN IMPACT!!!!!LETS SUE THEM!!!! HI3 players to PGR:omg can't wait to play it hehe
@@randyjackson5923 I don't think this person is saying about the gameplay, because if you watch all the trailers of the game the area, map, fighting style, options, event page, etc. it's very similar to GI. In my opinion, Legend Of Neverland is a straight plagiarism.
I tested both and I think pgr gameplay is more smoother + the sound effects are crunchy. But I can't deny that honkai story is more interesting especially with CGs and voices (as expected of Hoyoverse). Still, I think the most important aspect is the character. Having both male and female playable characters feels more natural. The market target of Honkai are male audiences, so be it, unless Honkai starts to consider female audiences by adding male playable characters (other than MC in APHO), I will be staying in PGR.
I'm male, but even get cringe-inducing after effects when I see a game marketed as a waifu collector. It feels unatural. I'm aware why Valkyrie's are female as they really are in real world mythology but still, it's an afterthought to mask the waifu simulation spree. It doesn't discount the fact that it's still a good game though but I do prefer PGR more.
@@hijodelsoldeoriente They did it because the audience hated on them when they made otto and kevin playable. They got so much hate that they never even thought about it again. You guys hating on hoyo can go research it before. Its not hoyo fault. Its the virgins that cant bother to see male on their screen without rioting... thankfully star rail has been advirtised as both male and female pc so all good.
I played both but prefer Honkai and one of the biggest reasons is because in PGR the main aspect is the gameplay the story and cutscenes not much . There is without a doubt a big differance between the graphics as well and the characters -In PGR you have male characters as well which is a good point but I don't think there is anything in the game that has really caught my interest for now I will continue to play it and will see
The story of PGR and its characters is also very good! and another, Honkai is a game that is already 5 years old! 3 years longer than the PGR. he has much more development time for both the game's story and its characters.
And i dont say it how boring the game is it now with boring events and boring abyss and the coop seems a bit dead now its incredible how much i need to wait like 10 or 15 minutes just for get the teammates but if one of the losers quit in thw middle of a raid its a pain in the ass and u can probably cant find other teammates just after playing this game for 1000 days i can say this game only solld for his waifu material and nothing more like if u dont wanna see the reality then is ok for u
While it's true than honkai story is more fleshed out let's not forget that it had more time and a big developer behind it, so it's commendable that PGR surpassed them combat wise having a fraction of hi3 budget's. That said I like them both
this late af of a response but, mihoyo was nowhere near as big as you think it was when HI3 launched, neither was it anywhere as big in its halfway point to its current state
This is from a Genshin Impact player I tried both Honkai and PGR and I like PGR more as it's gameplay is much more fun and dynamic than what I expected from a Honkai clone. The match 3 system when correctly used makes PGR so fun as each character has unique 3 pings combos that changes their playstyles drastically making each character unique. The game is better balanced as well as all characters are viable even the starting 3 chars has top tier units in their respective role like Liv B for Physical support and Nanami B for Physical tank and they can be upgraded to reach S rank as well if you get dupes from rolls or bought from shop and you can also grind their missions to get shards to upgrade them. I also like PGR aesthetic more as I like the Arknight style for sci Fi games rather than Honkais bright and colorful style even when a literal apocalypse is on going. This is ofcourse just my opinion.
I like PGR, but I chose to keep playing Honkai because Mihoyo provided good service. try to reach more players There are both PC and Smartphone versions, while the other game only has a Smartphone version.
Going back here and I'd say PGR is getting better and better. Damn!! Especially the next coming events and the new characters (compositor) they're cool AF. I'm not hating honkai but I've honestly install and uninstall it like 4-5 times now but I really don't enjoy the game like how I enjoy PGR and I usually don't like gacha games but when I heard about PGR, watched videos and stories about it then finally able to play it. Damn it blows my mind. I really love PGR.

After two years of Honkai Impact, I finally caved in and thought to give PGR a fair chance, reaching the end game before I make any judgements. I thought Honkai would win in the end... but PGR just won me over. The PC client working on Linux is an added bonus. Better combat system, better gacha system, better optimization, subtler power creep, and in future patches, better graphics by a huge margin. Guess it's goodbye to Elysia.
typical liar and kuro bot. first of all pgr gacha isn’t fair cuz it’s 100%. you need 2.5 months to get 60 pulls. it’s one of the slowest gacha among all gachas. 100% doesn’t make it fair or good at all, since you can get 140 or even more pulls in games like gi/ag/hsr for the same amount of time for guaranteed. but who cares (typical kuro bot take)🤡 i laughed hard when you said that graphics and endgame are better 😂 it’s norman and babel grind all over again. the story in pgr is so bad (cheap nier copy) that makes genshin story looks like a masterpiece and btw it’s slideshow without voice acting lol. but endgame take..well let’s compare high quality hi3 event with pgr events. you can’t even argue that hi3 destroys it. powercreep lmfao every new gen will powercreep older units like crimson lucia etc. better combat 😂 pgr combat actually made a shit ton of new players quit without giving this game a chance since only a minority pref orbs to skills. and quality hi3 22 gb and pgr id 7 gb. so which game has better quality and modes? 😂 if it’s pgr so answer me pls why are they made x10 less money than hi3 if their game is better? why is their revenue dropping with every patch? 2022 q1 is 35% more than 2023 q1. ofc you can’t answer 😂
@@bigmaschineee Did I trigger you in some way to make you this angry? > You get more pulls in GI/AG/HSR And yet, somehow you can't guarantee all characters, and get fucked by 50/50 in the end. Hyperreal was so good even Bronya copied him. > Norman and Babel grind More fun than whatever unfun grind we had in HI3 > Genshit I'm comparing it to Honkai. Genshin is a different game, no one asked. > HI3 events Y'know what? I kinda agree on this. HI3 events were really really fun. > Powercreep You get powercreeps every patch in Honkai, a lot of units easily get powercrept within a year. Meanwhile in PGR, you can even clear shit and retain a respectable bracket with A-ranks. > HI3 22 gb and PGR 7 gb PGR is actually 12 gb, and yet looks better than unoptimized, worse performing HI3. > Revenue dropping I went in Q2 2023, so no idea. Haven't experienced 2022 Q1 myself. Regardless, it doesn't speak to the game's quality. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Hoyo. I enjoyed the time I had with Honkai Impact. But PC client working on Linux/Steam Deck, better optimization, better rates, subjectively better gameplay, and better graphics in PGR won me over. As a Honkai player I'm gonna be honest that the combat system on Pgr is so good and realistic, but if your looking for a video game with a amazing storyline go play Honkai since Honkai Impact 3rd is the only game that will make you cry to a Villan's death.
People are constantly comparing these games, and as someone who hasn't played Honkai I'm confused why some people are claiming that PGR is a Honkai clone, when combat is completely different, the orb system in PGR is genius imo. As for dodge/perfect doge mechanics, they exist in any similar game.
its dated back who game released first . most new feature in Hi3rd got implemented in PGR about a month after . they just following footstep and make it better
The thing that puts me off with PGR is just how much screen shake there is in the combat. You give an enemy a love tap, the screen starts trying to shake its way out of your phone. I get trying to make combat feel like it has more weight, but there's a point at which it gets ridiculous. Also, love how for a "boss battle" you showed a random mech for Honkai. Not even a boss mech, just a normal, every day mech. That's not a boss, it's just a scaled up normal mob for the end of a stage. Could've at least showed Ganesha, that one comes up nice and early. Basic bitch boss but at least it's an actual boss.

Now both game have same genre and PGR just released yesterday and honkai have domination for sometimes, we will see a big battle.. which one would take the crown?
I see a lot of people comparing the game’s storyline, etc, but I’m gonna compare the graphics, IMO, PGR has an sharper, more realistic graphic than Honkai, while Honkai.. there is.. an lighter theme to the art style. Of course both look amazing in their own right, I don’t belittle neither. However past the point of graphic, Honkai for some reason, gives me something that PGR lacks, It’s the combat system, I don’t know how to explain it, but PGR, it doesn’t feel like I’m hitting anything at all, maybe it’s because their effects are so fast and small, and so is their sound, but I could never get the satisfaction of combat that I got in Honkai. So far for me, Honkai > PGR,
Im play both hi3 in sea n pgr in TW. Both is good. But i still prefer honkai gakuen 2 becoz story is so damn good. There is no mobile game can beat HG2 story even hi3. Kinda Oot tbh. :v

I've played both game long enough and here 1. Graphic : PGR did better at optimizing their game it doesn't look bad and it runs smoothly.Honkai run smoothly at first but the recent chapters lag so hard. 2. Gameplay : Dodging in pgr is much more easier since the game run smoothly the monster is not that hard but the humanoid boss is hard.Honkai dodging if you have a good phone it is easy bosses are hard too but some of them are just annoying. 3. Story : PGR story and cutscene(?) is boring only the interludes are interesting.Honkai story is boring at first but after a few chapters it's interesting. 4. Characters : Honkai characters look more like an anime style it is good tho PGR characters look more realistic but still cartoony maybe like resident evil (?).
Your 2 and 3 points are dumb. Dodging in PGR is not easier just because honkai lags in your phone. In honkai you can do infinite dodges while there's a stamina kinda thingie for it in pgr. And 3 points is also dumb because for pgr you said the story is boring when you probably haven't cleared all of it and the main story hasn't even begun while you just said it gets interesting after 7 chapter in honkai(though honkai definitely has better story but PGR story isn't "boring" though it's slow paced early game
@@asphyxia4135 your saying facts man and number 3 is kinda wrong since dodging is limited to only 4 or 5 times. The story is slow paced in pgr but right after chapter 7 than the story will start to booming
Number 1 is spot on I can't believe how optimize pgr is that i managed to run it at medium to high settings on my old phone that doesn't even meet the 2GB RAM requirement for the game. meanwhile cookie run kingdom freaking lags on my device
the only thing i dislike about pgr is their camera system it lock on well (bit too well i would say) but ignore every other thing that happening around you even an enemy about to backstab you. honkai have a softer lock and it auto re adjust to fit as much enemy on screen as possible without losing the main target. for a game that requires to be precise about dodging with limited stamina it kinda big deal to lose vision on an enemy. do anyone know will they improve the camera later on ?
You forgot to show off combos in Honkai’s combat. Button Button button delayed or Held Button should show off Raiden’s juggle and Kiana’s special Neko stomp
I'm always into Blue Archive (even though there's no global version) and wondering what next gacha should I play, I've watched this video for me to help myself on choosing which game should I play... Punishing Gray Raven is more suitable for me, but that's because of PGR's more realistic characters and animations. Blue Archive is cute enough for me to not play Honkai Impact 3 so Punishing Gray Raven is the best choice for me... Thanks for this review ❤
for the sake of content, there are games that are specifically for all consumers and without fear of large sizes compared to games that take up a lot of storage... it's only natural that PGR doesn't have a lot of cutscenes.
But you do realize that this came out before Genshin right? To be fair, she has a different ult animation for the 1.0 release BUT got updated on the next patch on all servers. And the original release was in 2019. So, who's really the copycat here?
If i must said, PGR have much more smoother combat system, compare to honkai a bit of clunky. Story wise, i must say at first Honkai doesnt really show the darker story compare to PGR, but the more you explore the story the more you notice the differences. PGR start with overall dark element of the story its good i might say however, they need to improve more by perhaps adding cutscene to improve the overall feeling of the story. Honkai, like i say, the more you learn the story the more darker the secret of it, hands down to MHY/Hoyoverse despite being stingy, i cant denied the fact that they able to create such indeep story telling. Bro, i even cry. Gacha? Tbh i dont want to talk about it. PGR>Honkai Overall, i must say gameplay wise, i think i prefer PGR more, Honkai if they can improve their smoothness i would make it my fav but i just cant. However, for storytelling i have to give it to Honkai, despite being consider as Waifu simulator, the story is really amazing. Just like Madoka Magica.
When it comes to gameplay, PGR is more fun in my opinion. But the story and character goes to Honkai Impact. My only problem with Honkai is it lacks of male characters. Playing only female characters cak be a bit boring sometimes.
Man I played honkai first then went to PGR, what I can say is that I never really got the hang of honkai It just felt too overwhelming for a casual like me
@@sethduclayan2770 well I would rather play PGR, since it's easy to get to grips with, has challenging but satisfying combat, and has a story that's straight to the point Honkai is a really good game too, but as I said it is very overwhelming for a new player, even after playing it for 2 months I never really got to grips with everything, and the story takes a really long time to get interesting So overall I would recommend PGR first, and if you don't like it or it's not your cup of tea then you can check out honkai afterwards
As someone who played Honkai since launch and recently playing PGR in Taiwan server just to cope for the Global release, I must say, Combat, aesthetics, and ost goes to PGR :OO It's like I'm playing a console game and it requires actual skill! Although honkai is way more older than Punishing gray so it will have inferior graphics compared to it but it still has probably the best story I have seen in a video game ( sadly I don't think punishing gray will have God like story but it's still too soon to tell ) anyway rather than leaving one for another it's better to play them both

I like both tbh but PGR is more of my style, they just lack the budget mihoyo has to create fancy cutscenes and their story isn’t as quite clear or fleshed out as honkai. if you are talking about my comments, then yes it's a personal attack against honkai with their yuri mc, all female playable char, and killed himeko (I'm toxic and still bitter about it)
well if I speak objectively, honkai wins for now.. pgr doesn't have fully or even half voiced story, which takes the fun away, generic male chars (kamui and lee entrophy), and mediocre story telling (which I hope it can be improved)
but see this pgr have something, even if story only, you can play as a villain boss, that's a first for me, all that optimization for middle-low graphic phone, not to mention that lucia alpha skill, those things is I believe PGR has potential to be at even position with honkai or maybe can surpass it, given a few year (if it's survive)
in the end personal reason works in favor, even if honkai is better games than PGR (for now), I still like PGR and it's a relatively new game I feel like the game dev is similar to king's raid, small company but releasing a quality games
I'd rather play pgr because Honkai impact uses so much storage on my phone plus pgr has a more easier combat system and it's f2p friendly

Having played both, I'd would say Honkai overall have better story depth/character development, while PGR have smoother execution early on.
Let's consider the "first phase" of both storylines:
For PGR, events leading up to "Final Fight"
For Honkai, events leading up to "Final Lesson"
WARNING: INCOMING WALL OF TEXT
I won't be spoiling the story, anyone who wants to know more should either play the games or watch clips on it personally.
1. PGR
PGR starts off with a bleek world view and smoothly tells the dark reality humanities live in.
2. Honkai
Honkai on the other hand, has a very light-hearted beginning.
3. Conclusion:
In regards to story's depth and tone, I'm more fascinated by Honkai's.
Wow, such a detailed review for both games, thanks!
Uhh is your opinion on the story based on CN server?
@@thuglifeganyu7543 Yes, i'm still playing PGR on the CN server. (The same with CN honkai's chapters, really)

Keep in mind what I said above is based on the first phase of both games, and the scope does grow later on, with more variety in interactions between characters. However, I haven't changed my thoughts on the two games having different focus and execution when it comes to story progression.

I see some people comparing honkai and pgr combat systems is dumb
Honkai is more combo combination like DMC ( attack button has different way of pressing it to make different combo some characters has combination of A and B button to make combo)
PGR is more skill button base like old RPG game (1 auto combo the rest is activated skill button the special is no cool down)
This makes the both game difficult in their own way so there no reason too compared

Pgr also collab with nier automata, it's amazing considering their budget.
this late af of a response but, mihoyo was nowhere near as big as you think it was when HI3 launched, neither was it anywhere as big in its halfway point to its current state
This is from a Genshin Impact player I tried both Honkai and PGR and I like PGR more as it's gameplay is much more fun and dynamic than what I expected from a Honkai clone.
Also PGR has male playable chara unlike Honkai (it has adam, but playable only at PHO)

first of all pgr gacha isn’t fair cuz it’s 100%. you need 2.5 months to get 60 pulls. it’s one of the slowest gacha among all gachas.

> You get more pulls in GI/AG/HSR
And yet, somehow you can't guarantee all characters, and get fucked by 50/50 in the end. HI3 regularly requires you to skip character just so you can 4/4 new characters (and even then, that's assuming best luck, most of the time its 2 or 3/4).
> Graphics are better
Dark Karen, Bianca Abystigma, Lee Hyperreal, Alpha Crimsonweave clears all HI3 or AG characters. Hyperreal was so good even Bronya copied him.
> Norman and Babel grind
More fun than whatever unfun grind we had in HI3
> Genshit
I'm comparing it to Honkai. Genshin is a different game, no one asked.
> HI3 events
Y'know what? I kinda agree on this. HI3 events were really really fun.
> Powercreep
You get powercreeps every patch in Honkai, a lot of units easily get powercrept within a year. Meanwhile in PGR, you can even clear shit and retain a respectable bracket with A-ranks.
> HI3 22 gb and PGR 7 gb
PGR is actually 12 gb, and yet looks better than unoptimized, worse performing HI3.
> Revenue dropping
I went in Q2 2023, so no idea.
If you can't accept the idea that other people have different preferences than you, you might want to take a look at yourself and understand why you're defending Mihoyo this much. They're not even paying you to do this.
@@pivad1388 yet you are a typical liar. it doesn’t matter if pgr gacha 100% when you need 2.5 months to get 60 pulls. when in other gachas you can get 2 or more units for this amount of time. you are iq are really low if you believe that 100% slow gacha makes game more fun 🤡 if in games like ag instead of 70 and 50/50 was 140 and 100% than you would also say that gacha is fair 🤡🤡🤡 bro saying that pgr looks better than hi3…dunno which game you played because pgr chars are dull af and the pgr color scheme is disgusting. old units like hos or raiden mei>>>>>all pgr chars combined
When you want Honkai Impact so bad, but don't have enough storage, I recommend getting PGR. It only costs 2GB of storage either than Honkai which is 5-6GB
Now honkai is 11gb 😂 rip
@@badhitya no it is now 9.33GB if you choose the lowest asset size or keep reinstalling after every update (so that you can skip the 5GB+ update hehe) and around 13-14+ GB if you choose the highest asset size.

but seriously, having 3 gacha games at the same time could kill me mentally but I guess I will give it a try once it hit SEA

I love how pgr actually depend on your skills and not only the characters
+ Pgr look smother
If pgr has timer like in honkai, it will depend on characters
End game content btw
And pretty much need to dodge
I mean just dodge basically when they attack on PGR
Oh is it? kinda interesting imo like well a starter team for end game content kinda cool ngl
Tell me about it. I was a huge noob when I first got into PGR and almost wanted to quit but I didn't and it was worth it. Also, this is Hoyo/MHY, after all. They are all about that cashgrab, so ofc they would want the players to depend more on powerful units, and I refuse to play HI3 simply because their technicolored UI looks like a mess and I feel like I get seizure looking at it.
I play both games and for me I like PGR more because of it style(it's more like cyberpunk style which I love while honkai is more like futuristic style)also the weapon designs are better in PGR
Basically 2016v vs 2019

Well we get some cutescene with choice, but if they got enough money from global, i hope they will do epic cutscenes and more interactions with character in the story !
@@saucissequitourne4369 that will be cool!
Thats because he didnt even use any cutscenes from the game for PGR. He used Nanami's Combat over animation and the normal old story. Here is a link so you can have a fair comparison: th-cam.com/video/Fm5eZHI0XZg/w-d-xo.html

As a Honkai player I'm gonna be honest that the combat system on Pgr is so good and realistic, but if your looking for a video game with a amazing storyline go play Honkai since Honkai Impact 3rd is the only game that will make you cry to a Villan's death.
Honkai story is yuri trash
@@nankono Not funny bro 💀
@@cleo9257BH I never cried to any of the villain deaths in Honkai, since I don't feel bad about them that much especially Otto's.
People are constantly comparing these games, and as someone who hasn't played Honkai I'm confused why some people are claiming that PGR is a Honkai clone, when combat is completely different, the orb system in PGR is genius imo.
As for dodge/perfect doge mechanics, they exist in any similar game.
Pretty sure Bayonetta came up with that shit.
@QiQi You must be confused if you think Honkai is the first hack n slash on mobile lmao
its dated back who game released first . most new feature in Hi3rd got implemented in PGR about a month after . they just following footstep and make it better
PGR has the best combat of any gacha game right now, let's see if that changes with Wuthering Waves
Just started PGR today so far its really good and challenging!
OP downplaying Honkai Impact 3rd on the cutscenes lawl
Wdym mean the cutscenes
Downplayed every thing in honkai
All the clips are from the very early stages of both the games. It's a complete 1 to 1 comparison.

I get people say honkai has much better story...... OH YOU DONT KNOW THE LAST FIGHT OF LUCIA- ok imma stop there
Now both game have same genre and PGR just released yesterday and honkai have domination for sometimes, we will see a big battle.. which one would take the crown?
PGR song is better than Honkai.. try listening to Narwhal - Haloweak or Hikari - GhostFinal
Moon Haloweak is amazing too
I think it's both a tie they both have pretty good music!
I prefer Honkai atm, I like flashy attacks kekw and I like the character designs more in Honkai. PGR ain't bad tho, also like it.

I see a lot of people comparing the game’s storyline, etc, but I’m gonna compare the graphics,
IMO, PGR has an sharper, more realistic graphic than Honkai, while Honkai.. there is.. an lighter theme to the art style.
Of course both look amazing in their own right, I don’t belittle neither.
However past the point of graphic, Honkai for some reason, gives me something that PGR lacks,
It’s the combat system, I don’t know how to explain it, but PGR, it doesn’t feel like I’m hitting anything at all, maybe it’s because their effects are so fast and small, and so is their sound, but I could never get the satisfaction of combat that I got in Honkai.
So far for me, Honkai > PGR,
Im play both hi3 in sea n pgr in TW. Both is good. But i still prefer honkai gakuen 2 becoz story is so damn good. There is no mobile game can beat HG2 story even hi3. Kinda Oot tbh. :v

PGR has hidden story to play where you can play as the enemy
You can also get bosses (compositors) on gacha which only costs 10 pulls, they will implement it on later updates
I've played both game long enough and here
4. Characters : Honkai characters look more like an anime style it is good tho PGR characters look more realistic but still cartoony maybe like resident evil (?).
good judging
i agree wth number 1 and 4 the story in honkai
starts with mihoyo with its first days of becoming famous
2:24 wait what?? voice actress
JURI WITH PANDORA BOX POWER?? ON STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN
the only thing i dislike about pgr is their camera system it lock on well (bit too well i would say) but ignore every other thing that happening around you even an enemy about to backstab you. honkai have a softer lock and it auto re adjust to fit as much enemy on screen as possible without losing the main target. for a game that requires to be precise about dodging with limited stamina it kinda big deal to lose vision on an enemy. do anyone know will they improve the camera later on ?

Story wise, i must say at first Honkai doesnt really show the darker story compare to PGR, but the more you explore the story the more you notice the differences. PGR start with overall dark element of the story its good i might say however, they need to improve more by perhaps adding cutscene to improve the overall feeling of the story. Honkai, like i say, the more you learn the story the more darker the secret of it, hands down to MHY/Hoyoverse despite being stingy, i cant denied the fact that they able to create such indeep story telling. Bro, i even cry.

Overall, i must say gameplay wise, i think i prefer PGR more, Honkai if they can improve their smoothness i would make it my fav but i just cant. However, for storytelling i have to give it to Honkai, despite being consider as Waifu simulator, the story is really amazing. Just like Madoka Magica.
