Thank you so much, your tutorials are taking my team to the next level. My team use One Note for our on call diary and getting in on ground level with loop makes so much sense as we have grown over the years with one note. The one thing we will miss is the emogi search function in One Note
Thanks for the structured explanation hitting on the important points to ponder on using loop @Scott Bryant. I’m just starting out with loop. Will post here more on my findings and questions.
Great video again. One thing I found out the other day is that guest links only work if your organisation is NOT using sensitivity labels but it will come later in the year 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Per your weekly newsletter, I can tell the difference in the editing style. Actually, it reminds me a lot of the style Ali Abdall uses, especially the way the camera footage is done and the moving outline on the box.
The funny thing about MS apps is all of them do something similar, but not everything. The landscape of MS apps is too broad. Why can't they just create a single app that has all the capabilities of Planner, OneNote, Loop, etc and get it over with already.
Microsoft don’t create solutions anymore. They only do half baked cynical reactions to other products. Loop is somehow meant to be the response to Notion, but lacks all the depth that makes Notion popular. Microsoft lacks a visionary who can rally all their products around an idea of how they could make all these half executed good ideas into a coherent ecosystem..
I don't know. I got plenty of clients who are very happy with Microsoft solutions. I found notion to be stupidly complex to use integrating loop and one note into my work has been trivial. With the ability to share externally now it makes it much easier to use loop.
Would love to see you do a video on how to use this as a diary. I currently use One Note but would love to switch to Loop. I’ve managed to move almost everything I had on One Note over to loop but my diary. Main thing stopping me is not having tags as I use these for every note i take in a day.
Good presentation ! I've got 2 questions : 1) How can you share externally ? Did you need to make some tenant settings? Because I can share my page link only inside my organization 2) How can I migrate loop workspaces from a tenant to another tenant? Thank you for the answers
great videos and thanks for the content. I am really starting to use Copilot for meeting note tsaking and post meeting actions. Is there a way to link these into a loop page without having to copy to the agend loop component within the teams meeting? super thanks
Great Video @Scott - I have been using Loop for almost a year and it is getting better and better - the only I wish was available right now is being able to open Loop directly inside Teams - The loop app can be added to Teams, and yes you can see your Loop workspaces, but clicking a workspace opens the workspace directly in the browser - would be better to open directly in teams if you could change the settings for the Loop app in teams... maybe it is on the way!!!
I've added a tab at the top of our Teams channel with the URL of our MS Loop workspace added under the website option and that seems to open up in Teams. It does have the message saying "If this site doesn't load properly, open it in a browser", but it does load and seems to work ok.
It still does not beat Notion and basic capabilities are still missing such as the ability to embedd part of an excel spreadsheet in a loop page, Still lots of work to do to make it a real alternative but that’s a good start.
great video! If I have a page called Meeting Notes and each Sub Page represents meeting notes for a specific meeting, can a default template be applied automatically when creating a new Sub Page is created?
Sadly not; but you could create the Loop Page and then drag and drop it into the relevant section. However for Meeting Notes there’s now a dedicated section in Loop to see all of your Meeting Notes now 😄
This is already a great tool for project management. The only thing I miss is a window for communication within the project, something like task comments in Planner. It should be a separate window because now adding a comment makes the content less readable. What is your opinion on this matter?
The one most important question (by far) before entrusting all your notes to one of those shiny new apps is: How will you get them back out of there once the need arises? "Exporting" them one-by-one as PDFs is hardly a solution. I've been bitten by that problem in the past, and now it's largely back to TXT and RTF files on my own storage for me.
For my part, I'm not yet ready to leave One Note for Loop. For me, it lacks too many valuable features, such as a real ribbon for displaying possible actions (e.g. inserting a file or image). Also, the hierarchy of pages and sections is far too limited for me (I have around 3,500 pages in my current One Note, which would be impossible to switch to Loop). And finally, the search options are also too limited for me. In short, for the time being, I prefer to stay with One Note!
yeah, I've been using one note since it was first announced back in something like 2004 and I have hundreds of notes in it as well. I assume with the ability to share externally. I'm now going to start using loop more frequently but I agree it'll probably take some years to find myself totally switched over. if ever. in my mind, one note is the best product that I've ever used of Microsoft.
Sadly, it's not supported to add emails as records in Loop Pages. I would love to see that feature though with a simple button in Outlook 'Add to Loop' which then lets you add it to a Loop Page
I have been fiddling around with Loop. Loop is an application within Microsoft 365. Much like OneNote as an application. I am also trying to figure out where exactly the files are stored. However I know that when you create loop workspaces and then loop pages within those workspaces they stay there.
@@candicewdgu thanks :) I know that it is an application and there is a handy diagram from microsoft, where loop files are stored, buuuut not where Workspaces or pages are stored and what kind of files they are, will send you if I find it :D it´s quite a mess and deleting is also very problematic.
AKAIK, Loop still doesn't have Search for content. A real show stopper. Also, history is only per page, so it is cumbersome to see what has been changed. Progressing indeed, albeit very slowly

Thanks so much for your kind feedback and hopefully we will see that search function one day in Loop too 😀

Nicely done and very helpful. Thank you

how did you transfer your notes from OneNote to Loop?
Good presentation ! I've got 2 questions :

2) How can I migrate loop workspaces from a tenant to another tenant?

Your organization may be set up to not be able to share externally. Talk to your IT specialist.

good day! great video thanks a lot! but i still have a doubt, is it possible to share with somebody ¨external¨ only a component of an entire page??
Can we set the loop components permission for the viewer only ?
It still does not beat Notion and basic capabilities are still missing such as the ability to embedd part of an excel spreadsheet in a loop page, Still lots of work to do to make it a real alternative but that’s a good start.

This is similar to Notion then, but better? 🙂
Isn't access to the Loop site for people outside the organization dependent on the SharePoint configuration?
I waited to the end of writing this warmly meant comment. :-) Great that you mentioned it is only On-Line.
Can you add attachments directly into loop yet? Not just links
Sadly; just links at the moment when it comes to pinning files into a Workspace
Why do I not have that same PLUS/ADD icon next to my Workspace name? I'd like to click PLUS --> add link , but it is missing for me.
weird. I was using Microsoft Edge & could not see it, but when I copy and paste the link into Chrome...it shows up. Thanks Microsoft
Glad you sorted it out 😄🙌

How microsoft loop different from notion?

How to add e mail as record in Loop Page?

what is a loop Page? is it sharepointSlide Page? a Fluid file? where is it stored?

Looks like Loop may replace ONE NOTE eventually. One note is not automated in any way.
Once it has ADO integration, it’s goodbye to Wiki…
OneNote vs. Loop is getting harder
also there is no import option for other note taking apps to Loop. Shame!
