I use both, but more OneNote with embedded Loops. I find it easier to organise and find content in OneNote than Loop. With loops embedded in OneNote pages that I can paste into Teams Channels, Chats, Emails, ... I get the best of both worlds.
Your training videos are better than the recent Loop training I did direct with Microsoft. I now send links to your videos to people in my organization. Thank you!
Since the day Microsoft announced Microsoft Loop, I've been hoping they would merge OneNote's functionality with Microsoft Loop. OneNote is an incredibly powerful tool, but it's visually unappealing and makes it hard to create visually distinctive work. Microsoft Loop, on the other hand, uses a tile/block system, which is easy to organize and has a polished, enterprise feel. If Microsoft could combine the strengths of both apps, I think we would have the ultimate note-taking app.
Thank you for the video. The main feature I love about OneNote is the ability to password a page, a section, or a whole book. Also, the Search command doesn't work for passworded data. It simply skips it and returns Nothing Found instead of telling you that the content may be passworded. For me, this is super important. I can't find any reason to move to Loop, but I can see the potential for Planner in the Microsoft ecosystem mess.
This is a great feature and OneNote is a very robust tool! If you want to take advantage of Planner then you could simply add Loop Components to your OneNote pages 🤓
As part of Office 365, you probably also have to agree that Microsoft scans all the data that you put in Loop as specified in the EULA. For most businesses in Europe this results in confidentiality issues, and they would have to disclose this "sharing" with their clients.
Thank you for sharing, I have found an article that may be helpful on this. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/loop/loop-compliance-summary?view=o365-worldwide
My favorite in OneNote is the search feature - it can even read my handwriting! Didn't know about Loop, but had heard that OneNote was supposed to be EOL in 2025. Thanks for the video. I was looking for a way to create a task/checklist and got pulled into this video :)
The search feature is great! Especially with the tags too. Checklists can be done in both so you can choose which app you prefer. I believe it is just OneNote for Windows 10 with the end of support in October 2025. See the link 👇 support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/moving-to-onenote-on-windows-4ba7b498-aafc-44b1-8326-a582a6c71196#:~:text=OneNote%20for%20Windows%2010%20is%20no%20longer%20included%20in%20Windows,will%20have%20access%20to%20it.
My issue is that not everything is collaborative. I usevone note because it's a digital notebook with sections that I do not share unless I choose to. I like the structure of OneNote.

As described above, all users will still be able to access their existing pages and workspaces, view components from other apps, and more. The only capabilities that may be lost after the grace period are creating new workspaces, adding members to workspaces, and removing members from workspaces.
I depend heavily on a few OneNote features that I have not found replicated in Loop. 1) Web clipper, to clip websites content and links into a OneNote notebook. 2) Send Emails and Meetings to OneNote. 3) Clip MS Edge Collections into OneNote. Great video comparison. Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback. Is there a specific time that you notice the audio quality change or is it the whole video? My neighbours dog barks very loudly directly facing my office window which causes the noise gate to kick in and the audio quality distorts with it but I usually re-record these sections (if he stops).
@@officeskillswithamy Hi, and thanks for the feedback, or rather for asking ,-)) Of course I'm sorry about the neighboring dog - unfortunately, as a “consumer” you don't thank them for that. The change already occurs after the intro, at 1:30. I then tried to hold on, but it was too exhausting for me and I copied (+ translated) the transcript and had it read out by the plastic reader in Word. Btw - my favorite function... not easy, 'cause OneNote can do so many things exactly the way I need them and is a powerful overall package, but the multi-person-"transcript" (recognizes and marks realy many of different people ^^ PLUS parallel created sketches, notes ... which are then also played back in parallel to the time sequence (!!!), yes that's mega-practical for my meetings and interviews! Thanks for ya Work!!! K from Vienna! SH
Loop is in a similar space as the new Outlook for me. I like what I see and want to use it, but there are still too many important features missing. OneNote is really good at being a place you can put basically anything. Text, hand written notes, drawings, math notes, printouts you would like to annotate, web clipings, audio, video, etc. I wonder whether Loop will ever really replace OneNote in that way. Loop is very similar to Notion. Notion doesn't really have a solution for hand written notes, drawing or annotations/markups. Will Loop get this? One thing I feel comfortable with is that Microsoft is unlikely to just kill off OneNote. Unlike Google, Microsoft keeps things around. If they want people to transition in the future, they will have some kind of robust solution to move everything over. They simply cannot afford not to.
Microsoft Definitely has not resolved the Synch issue. At my job we just switched from Evernote to all Microsoft products. I didn't like Evernote, but the synch problems are horrible with One note. I manage a team of 6, all of those versions of meeting notes...
Thanks for letting me know and I'm sorry that you are having those issues. If your main purpose for using OneNote is meeting notes, then you may want to try the Loop Meeting notes built into Teams meetings.
Thank you for your feedback, I'm sorry if it was distracting. This feedback has been received and newer videos have an updated format with less distractions. I hope that aside from the distractions that you found this video helpful.

@@LenParliament this sounds like the perfect balance of Loop and OneNote!
@@MrThelegnd I agree, it seems to be Microsoft's competitive product for Notion.
@@officeskillswithamy I don't agree at all. Notion is so far beyond Loop it's not even the same category in my mind.

I am going to see if this works for project management. very neat!
Great!
Loop is also only available in lower level security options of 365. If your organization uses one of the high secure GOV versions, you can't have it.

They should of just incorporated some of Loop's features into OneNote, instead of creating another app.

Yeah I think MS wanted an app to compete with other modern note apps too.
