What I don't like about Loop is the lack of backup for workspaces... I really think that users should be able to backup or, at least, be able to print the entire workspace to PDF as a book and not just individual page.
There is a chance it will be good at some point with full integration with word, excel, outlook, calender etc. And then I would only use it if I was working somewhere and they were fully intgrated with ms suite. I would probably use it then, but only if forced to
Hi! Loop is still free to use for Microsoft account holders or with Microsoft 365 for home or family. But if you use Microsoft 365 for business you need the business standard plan and up. Not even the basic license include it which is strange to me since basic is all about the cloud apps of which Loop is one. I come from the other direction going from OneNote that I find limiting to Loop which is much better but Microsoft’s strategy for sharing outside of your org is very confusing and not on par with OneDrive even though the loop pages reside there. Very strange. I am waiting for version 2.0 to appear in my tenant though… I just signed up for Notion the other day and haven’t really played around with it much. It does look very much like Loop is mimicking Notion but of course tied in to the M365 suite of apps. If Loop is getting any kind of database I assume it’s SharePoint List based. Access databases can easily be migrated to SharePoint lists and then be manipulated either in Access or lists/web but the database tables keep their relations. That would be easy to transform to a Loop component I guess.
There may not be a published roadmap for Loop but features are being worked on per the response to user feedback. I personally would like to have equations capability. I wasn't able to save my pages as a template - it gives an error.
Loop is still very awkward to share. If I have a Loop in an Outlook email then it doesn't automatically check that recipients have access to the loop as happens with other M365 linked resources. Controlling the sharing is just as awkward. I am still waiting for it to appear in OneNote and PowerPoint, an d to be able to generate or update loops from PowerApps.
I've never experienced that. I tend to avoid web-based apps for this reason and I'm old school. But I have to say I've not had any issues using Microsoft's web-based apps.
I'd use Loop for team collaboration if it was more integrated with SharePoint Online. I organize projects using different folder structures and what I'd expect is to have a .loop file at the root of the folder in SharePoint that would open the Loop Workspace. Also, if they integrated Loop as part of the SharePoint stack (like Office, Stream, ClipChamp, etc.), Governance and Security would be much easier for IT Admins. What do you think about that?
I'm not sure Loop will be integrated into the governance and security features of M365 quickly or at all. Loop is I think more targeted at smaller companies that might otherwise be using something like Notion rather than big enterprises. But as there's no public roadmap for Loop, we don't know what the plans are.
Thanks for watching! Has your organization embraced Loop? Let me know in the comments below.
2.0? I'm still waiting for them to finish 1.0
well, i think that no database = never will be a serious competitor against notion
Indeed. But I think it will come eventually. Here's hoping for Loop 3.0.

That's a interesting point about sharing. Certainly it could be improved.
"Sorry, we can't save your work. Copy everything on the page, Untitled. Paste it into a document to add it to the Loop later."

Is there already a desktop app out for Mac or comes this along v2.0? Will the iOS app get an update too?
Why would i use this over teams or onenote?

Loop apps are available for use with personal accounts, but loop components are not supported (yet?)
Thanks for the info. Don't know what the story with components is on personal accounts.
ive used loops for about an year, its such a horrible product
😂😂😂😂
I will never use anything MS software unless there is absolutely no choice lol
lol same
It's strange you are watching a channel about Microsoft software in that case 😊
No
Most boring dude on youtube
If you got nothing constructive to say maybe keep it to yourself
And yet, you are still here. Some constructive criticism would have been more helpful.
This isn't a theater audition and we're not voting for Prom King. We want good information. This was good information ... a solid, TH-cam clip.
