I was 19 years old in 1971 when I heard "Take It Easy" for the first time. I've been an Eagles fan ever since. Their songwriting, musical ability, and vocals are second to none. They are the greatest American band of all time in my opinion and second place is not even close. As for their individual failings, well, you can't have a group of musical geniuses without having some occasional head-butting. I, too, wish Felder was still with the band but life goes on. I'll still listen to them over and over and over, marveling at the pureness of all the songs I know so well.
I have to comment that I don't think the Eagles ever got enough recognition for how great their vocals were/are. Absolutely top-notch yet they don't seem to get the recognition that CSN and the Beach Boys (who's recognition is well deserved) do.
So very true, if only Glen could look at things the same way as Timothy, the reunion tours would have put all of these guys on stage together, and given the fans who have supported them and made them who they are what WE deserve before time runs out. As a bass player I know two guys on stage together can pull it off. Hell even take turns for crying out loud. Styx often times does this on tours..... Let it go Glen
Matthew Dagnan Am I missing something or is their a back-story? I thought both were OK in their part of the speech. Please enlighten me if I am not aware of something.
Agree Daisy, it meant a lot to Randy, you could tell. Classy as hell. And rocksvids88 it would take way too long to try and explain the backstory. I recommend you watch the history of the Eagles on Netflix and or the interview on Howard Stern with Don Felder. Really interesting stuff for a true fan
@@deanladue3151 i still love them though i do give props for them all not just Don and Frey but them all they all had a hand in the music they did. honestly i always forget that Don is the drummer since he's lead on so many songs. i know Genesis has Phil singing the lead but there really aren't that many bands that i can think of where the drummer sings the vast majority of the songs. hence why i forget that Don is the Drummer. i really wish that Felder and Frey would have made up i saw what he said about him when he died it was very sweet. i have a feeling it won't be like that when Don at some point passes away but who knows maybe i'm wrong? i don't think it was just Felder but also Frey and Don as well that had to do with why they had a fallen out.
I don't find it heartbreaking. People grow old, that's what they do. I listen to the great music they made back in the day and appreciate that. They're going to age no matter what.
The Eagles have never been as good as they were with Walsh and Felder playing together. No disrespect to Bernie, but there was an awesome chemistry with Joe and Don playing together. Take away their guitar riffs and the Hotel California album would have been just another album.
Don stated that playing with Joe Walsh made them both better players because there was a constant competition . Neither wanted to be bested by the other. For that I am grateful. We were the ones that benefited from that.
I always like it when someone thanks their mother and father, like Randy did. When you think about it, they are really the most important people in the world to most people
I don't care WHO didn't get along with WHO. These guys gave us 20 years or so of great music , they made a lot of money and had a lot of problems splitting it up but as far as I'm concerned they are right up there with the stones beatles floyd and Fleetwood Mac tyvm to each and every eagle for great music n great memories god bless u all n ty for posting .
I much preferred the band America I bought their music but the only really good song of the eagles that's to my taste was TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT SUNG BY RANDY MEISNER. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Joe Walsh and Randy all the way!! And Timmy Schmidt is a class act. I love Glen and Don's music but i think its really hard to be fans of guys that have such a cold hearted cut throat mindset. Easily the most musical talent of almost any rock n roll band ever
B is a lovely musician who came from POCO, which was a great band in itself. He is truly humbled because he experienced when the band was already developed...
If you're really being honest, you can count on one hand the number of bands from any era of music that never once recorded a bad song, and you know the words to all of their songs, no matter which decade it was recorded in. The Eagles are one of those very rare bands, and their music has more than stood the test of time!!
I liked Glenn Frey in the Eagles and solo. Didn't know him of course but felt connected to him as the others. Just so sad that they had such animositys toward each other. There was a huge price to pay for all that fame and fortune. He was the focal point on all of that and it ended up eating him alive and he ended up dying. Such a sad ending. Maybe that song of theirs most of us our sad really does ring true. God bless them all and I hope he made peace with God. He had it all but I hope he didn't miss the greatest achievement; eternal life with the creator
I'd like to thank the Eagles band members for becoming such a great band called the Eagles and bringing us their fabulous songs over the years. And I'd like to thank the people who gave them such inspiration to write them. And thanks to the people who may have written some of these songs for them. And I'd like to thank myself & all the millions of fans like me, for loving such great songs, that made the Eagles what they are to us today.. But I'd like to say to case county music. Please stop giving me copyright issues for playing them on youtube. If we don't get to play them they will fade away. And if we can't play them, how can the Eagles know they are still loved so much by us all. Buying their albums doesn't always say their loved. Keep it real Eagles. You are still loved today.
The Eagles are one of the best rock & roll band groups and country music as well. Although the band have been separated for fourteen years but able to reunite together prior to the late Glen Fry, one of the original members and founders. The band have won six Grammy awards , five No # 1 Singles, 17 ( Top) 40 Singles and 6 No # 1 Albums. I have been a loyal and dedicated fan since the original band was formed in 1971. During the opening of the ceremony for acceptance of being inducted into the Hall of Rock and Roll Fame, I have thought that Don Henley , one of the original members and founders was extremely humble with his acceptance speech. It is a boy's dream to become a successful songwriter and musician by just picking up a guitar and playing a set of drum but unforseen his future to be one of the most noticeable and sensational rock and country band ever performed on stage with so many hit singles and albums. Secondly, it was a nice introduction of Randy M by Tim Schmidt. It was a nice appearance of Vern to be acceptance of the award. It would have been nice to see Don Felder who happens to be an excellent guitar player and a creative writer. I have thought that the late Glen Fry was humble for the acceptance speech and the style of his speech was be thankful and grateful that we are the main reasons for their success in all of these past years.
In a parallel universe imagine if all these members were able to make this incredible music together at the same time, and just imagine what new music would have could have been. Two incredible bass players with high soaring voices, and the two hit makers, the two incredible guitarists, and Bernie.
Randy Meisner!! take the devil and certain kind of fool!! world class songs! what can I say about everyone else? I love them all very much, Glenn frey, joe walsh, tim. schmit, don henley, bernie, that's how i want to remember THE EAGLES, who cares if everything failed, all what really matters is on CD's and DVD's and in my heart as well
Love and Peace to your family my friend. It's all over now!!! The end of the road. Now that you're gone. You left us with your music. I love you bro!!! Thank you for the music!! You are greatly honored and remembered!!!!! 🌹🎧🎸🎼Goodbye and may God bless you!!!! R.I.P.
My favorite thing about the Eagles not only are they the greatest band America has ever had. They also was the 1st that I know of that started to get us to open our eyes as to look out for Mother Nature. As far as I know even in the on the 14 yr vacation they stayed active with environmental causes such as the Walden Woods project. They were caring and doing things about it before any one had a vision for our future.
I know that for me the Eagles are the first band that I ever understood as a child right heard some music and would relate and understand the lyrics it took all of them to work together it was nice to see them trying to put some of their issues behind them I know for me the Eagles will live on in my memory it's one of the most legendary bands of all time definitely had a lot of influences on other bands around them take it easy literally take it easy...
Randy Meisner had been contemplating leaving the Eagles for years before he actually did it in 1978. Being in the band had cost him one marriage and was about to cost him another relationship. There was some tension when he left, but all was forgiven for this occasion. They would have invited him to be a part of the current History of the Eagles tour (as they did with Bernie Leadon) but, sadly, Randy's health would not permit it.
It is indeed nice that they all got together and treated each other respectfully for this occasion. I think I read in Felder's book that Henley would only play with Leadon and Meisner at the venue if their guitars were not plugged in. Regardless, it's too bad John Fogerty could not have done the same when CCR was inducted.
And that my friends, is true talent and grace. From every single one of these men. Humble, gracious and talented beyond belief. I wasn't old enough to grow up with them, really started listening to them in the late nineties. Could not get over how good they were, how resilient and how many different genres they encompassed. Goodbye Glen. I will see you again, but not yet.
hmm. I wonder what Felder thought of Joe's statement. I understand Felder wrote a lot of the music and guitar parts. He wrote the music for Hotel California (the song). Seems a bit of a stretch to thank only those 2 and to thank your own band members... It was nice when Timmy did it for Randy but Joe's... meh. Makes me think of how Kiss is. 2 guys in the band from the start with others they hired later after several other members leave or get booted.
Lynn Turman He wrote Hotel California (sans lyrics). If that was all he ever wrote, it'd be more than me and I dare say (most likely) you would have ever done in our lives. I'm sure he wrote more music early on and less of it later as the notion of royalties became huge in the minds of the frontmen (Henley and Frey). Plus, they were the main singers so... just how things go.
TruthSurge Not to take anything away from Felder cause he was/is a great guitarist. But coming up with a guitar solo, a guitar riff, or a melodic line is not the same as writing the music. The music is defined as the harmonic structure (a.k.a. the chord progression) underneath the melody. And the only song he did that on was Hotel California (which is why he gets a songwriting credit on it). And btw, he DIDN'T write everything in Hotel California except for the lyrics, as you claim. You know those notes Henley is singing to the lyrics? That's called the melody. Felder didn't write that. Nor did he write the music or melody to the chorus. Felder's contribution to HC was the chord progression on the verse, the guitar duet at the end he wrote with Walsh, and the reggae feel the song has. So like I said: he wrote less than 5% of the music in the Eagles.
Lynn Turman You're very condescending. I saw a vid on YT where Felder said he'd bring in music ideas on tapes and they'd cull through them and that was part of how they created the songs. I think it's called... collaboration? Not sure. But you have a good day.

That was *so* classy what Timothy did, you can tell Randy was really moved and appreciative.
Their individual personalities & attitudes is the chemistry that made them great... let's embrace it... warts & all! 😘🌟💖
Does anyone else find this really heartbreaking? Glenn is gone, Randy is not well, Don Felder is shunned...very sad. What a great band.
Don Henley is still touring and putting out music.
Not really the true Eagles anymore, its become more like a Eagles tribute band, sad 😞
Loved the band but they totally fucked Don Felder
Timothy Schmit = class act
yup! humble guy and beautiful
The ecstasy of seeing all 7 of them together...
The Eagles have never been as good as they were with Walsh and Felder playing together. No disrespect to Bernie, but there was an awesome chemistry with Joe and Don playing together. Take away their guitar riffs and the Hotel California album would have been just another album.
Especially since Felder wrote the song. I agree.
@@tpowell453 Well, he co-wrote the song. That said, it never would have happened if he hadn't come up with that classic guitar part/progression.
I agree with that
Don stated that playing with Joe Walsh made them both better players because there was a constant competition . Neither wanted to be bested by the other. For that I am grateful. We were the ones that benefited from that.
Leadon + Felder was a great combination too.
RIP GLENN FREY
EAGLES thank you for all the beautiful music.
I love you TIMOTHY.💝
I always like it when someone thanks their mother and father, like Randy did. When you think about it, they are really the most important people in the world to most people
In Donald Felder 's excellent book "Heaven And Hell" he said the rest of the band called Henley and Frye "The Two Gods" .
The Eagles🦅💖🕺👬🧑🤝🧑🌟🤩
Great!🎼🎵🎹🎸🎤📀🎥👍👏
From Hong Kong🙋♀️🌏💝🌺🥰
Thanks for your love and support ♥️❤️
I don't care WHO didn't get along with WHO. These guys gave us 20 years or so of great music , they made a lot of money and had a lot of problems splitting it up but as far as I'm concerned they are right up there with the stones beatles floyd and Fleetwood Mac tyvm to each and every eagle for great music n great memories god bless u all n ty for posting .
+edward hash Yes, and thank you!
Well said
I much preferred the band America I bought their music but the only really good song of the eagles that's to my taste was TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT SUNG BY RANDY MEISNER. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Don't forget Tom Petty.
I do not know the whole deal, but Don Felder is a TRUE gentleman and excellent musician.
Which u just admitted that you don't know.
@Clarence Hamm i hope you don't mean he "got it in the end" because he got sick and died, because that wouldn't make you much of a "class act".
I think don Felder and Timothy b schmidt just seem like the nicest guys. Down to earth and very polite and kind. Randy meisner too
@@plasticweapon Class has nothing to do with it. Sometimes people get what they deserve. Period.
Before they were famous, Don gave Tom Petty his first guitar lesson, down in their native Florida back in the '60s.
God speed Glenn, your music will live on. My heart goes out to all your family and your family 'The Eagles'.
Henley thanks his wife for being kind and patient....he dhould have taken notes how to be kind to Randy and Don!!!!!
Given how many great artists were in that supergroup, it is amazing that they stayed together for nine years.
Well said Glenn Frey RIP beautiful man God bless you, amen 🙏🌹♥️🇦🇺,my favorite Eagle
Thanks for your love and support ♥️❤️
Our love from Greece to this great band ! RIP Glenn Frey
+giorgos mar ty baby
It was funny to see Guys faces at the back when Glen said GET OVER IT 😂.
My husband introduced me to their music and that was 37 years ago. I still love them til this day and always will.
How big of a fan can you be? You don't even spell his name right. I fell asleep halfway through your "tribute " to a very mean individual.
@@Noosic wtf maybe he's trying to write English coming from another country..... what are you? An English teacher?
@@Noosic So what, it's a just dumb typo. Get off your high horse.
The "eagles"" classic. They bring back so many memories for me. emotional, good and bad times.. Genius. Love all of them.
Don Henley still kicking ass and taking name. Don you are awesome ❤️
Thanks for your love and support ♥️❤️
In a parallel universe imagine if all these members were able to make this incredible music together at the same time, and just imagine what new music would have could have been. Two incredible bass players with high soaring voices, and the two hit makers, the two incredible guitarists, and Bernie.
Randy Meisner!! take the devil and certain kind of fool!! world class songs! what can I say about everyone else? I love them all very much, Glenn frey, joe walsh, tim. schmit, don henley, bernie, that's how i want to remember THE EAGLES, who cares if everything failed, all what really matters is on CD's and DVD's and in my heart as well
Love Henley ♥️
When I hear the eagles, it's like listening to my dad and that's why I love them.
It's good to see the great Don Felder.
I know that for me the Eagles are the first band that I ever understood as a child right heard some music and would relate and understand the lyrics it took all of them to work together it was nice to see them trying to put some of their issues behind them I know for me the Eagles will live on in my memory it's one of the most legendary bands of all time definitely had a lot of influences on other bands around them take it easy literally take it easy...
a defiant Frey here, sounds like he was fed up with the talk about the Eagles fighting with each other... he ruled that band with an iron hand
yeah but his speech was straight BS.
Love these guys growing up in the seventies
Randy Meisner had been contemplating leaving the Eagles for years before he actually did it in 1978. Being in the band had cost him one marriage and was about to cost him another relationship. There was some tension when he left, but all was forgiven for this occasion. They would have invited him to be a part of the current History of the Eagles tour (as they did with Bernie Leadon) but, sadly, Randy's health would not permit it.
Yes, Thank you for also stating this.
@@mrsgstd heard this too, such a holes they were and for no damn reason. Sweetest guy there is, Randy
Congradulations guys, ❤️, have listened to you for years! Best band during my time!
Randy is the man.
Henley and Frey "humble?"
My favorite Randy is present.
Take it to the limit.
That's been a long run Thank you The Eagles Xxx
Rip Glenn, my heart is breaking...
+Escul1960 Mine too...really bad!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, TO ALL THE EAGLES....SUPER SUPERB MUSIC THRU THE YEARS.....LOVE ALL....
I'm 19 years old and I have a crush on Timothy Schmidt. :) I love The Eagles.
Sorry to see Glen Frey gone too soon. RIP, we loved your music and everyone knew every word , and that says alot.
At least they all got together for one special wonderful night I enjoyed the documentary
I love the Eagles, all 7 of them!!!!! RIP Glen, your greatly missed!!
The gods henley & Frey want all the credit, even though Bernie, is responsible for them being in the group, before they were even known
Felder came up with his own guitar solos but, in spite of what you've read in YT comments, he wrote less than 5% of the "music."
