Back in the very early 80s I was bartending in a place called Houlihans on Bourbon Street in New Orleans and a guy comes and sits down at the bar and wants to know where the locals go to hear good music , instead of the tourist traps. I was getting off work in around 20 minutes and would be happy to give him the locals tour . Off we went to Maxwells and other local hangouts for a good portion of the night. Way in to the wee hours of the night we made our way back to where we had started . He thanked me for a memorable evening of good booze and good music and I thanked him for letting a nobody like me be his tour guide. The guys name was Jimmy Page , yes that Jimmy Page.
Jeff aged like a bottle of fine wine. Bought an 8-track of Blow By Blow immediately after it was released and listened to it over and over. Had the greatest version of Going Down, so awesome. Welcome to the Big Gig in the Sky. RIP
As a big fan of the Maestro Henry Mancini hearing Peter Gunn (17:33) on Jeff hands is breathtaking!! We are running out of heroes... Rest in peace Jeff and thank you for the legacy you left.
Beck was one of the very few who remained both innovative and relevant for decades. Unlike most from his generation, he always brought an anticipation for was to come rather than relying on a nostalgia for what had been. This is a far greater loss to music than those who may have been more popular or have more accolades.
TRUTH be told, his music never gets old. What a rhythm section, Vinnie & Tal...she's barely a teenager, here, sharing the stage with MONSTERS. Those horns on Peter Gunn‼️
Tal's the grand old age of 23 here. She did ok for a girl from Bondi in Sydney I guess. Goes over to the States at the age of 18 and pretty much has an instant career! Had never even been in a band!... No slugging it out for years in dingy dives... no obstacles whatsoever? Gets invited straight up on stage with the Allman Brothers as a "complete unknown!" And from there...straight to the top of the pile! Incredible back story I'm sure.... Would make a great movie! But would it be an "honest" movie?
@@yellingelk I was at the Allman Bros concert where she played with them. They played an hourlong 'Elizabeth Reed' and she blew the doors off the place!

Debates about who is the best is immaterial to me, its what they achieved and who they influenced. At a moment in time all of them were the best.
Jeff Beck came across as a a very humble person whose talent could allow him to be a complete jerk but he never did. He just played the guitar like no one else.
The end of an era. Rest in peace Jeff Beck
Brian May and Ritchie Blackmore also grew up in that area. Perhaps it's something in the water?
@@geoffpoole483May can’t compare to any of these!
Hard to believe there will ever be anyone like him again
I had the good fortune of seeing Him twice, once in Detroit , once in Chicago W/ hammer both were incredible shows. I' ve seen MANY live shows ,including Hendrix. Beck was the cleanest live player of them ALL. When I was a kid I wore out 2 Truth albums, an 8 track & a casset . It still stays fresh after all these years
I'll never get over his passing. I've been going to see every concert in my areas since the late 60's. I last saw him and Johnny Depp in NJ in Oct and true to form he was magic. I must have seen JB 25+ concerts over the last 50+ years and he always, always left me with a feeling I can't describe. Jeff was such a clean liver, which goes to show there are no guarantees in life. Yesterdays history, tomorrow's a mystery BUT today is a gift. I miss JB everyday, he was my generations Segovia. I'm 72 and fully expected to continue to see Jeff for the next 15 years. Stay safe folks. RIP, Govner ! !
Jimmy & Jeff. 13 yrs old !! Amen !!
RIP Jeff. Thank you for everything.
God is waiting : Jeff Beck , David Crosby,Joe Cocker ,keith Emerson, Greg Lake, jhon Bonham,Richard Wright....They are angels of music.
R.I.P. Jeff Beck ~
You made a difference sir 😥😢
The best dam guitar 's in my opinion I've seen and heard them all. I'm 71 years old and thankful i got to enjoy Jeff WOW!!
everyone's gone to the moon. Master page so humble and yet the best.
What a gracious tribute to Jeff Beck (who thanked Scotty Moore as a major influence!). The giants are all leaving us, with legacies that will live forever.
Yes that was so touching, Scotty really loved it too. God love Jeff Beck, such a warm, gracious guitar genius extraordinaire!
well said RC
Jeff was and will always be a guitar god.beautiful vid.
Jimmy Page humbled himself and took a backstage to playing rhythm guitar for Jeff Beck cause this was Jeff's time to shine.
Jeff Beck is up for a Grammy in Feb 2023. Best rock song - with Ozzy! - Patient #9
Probably lose out to some garbage nobody'll be listening to next year.🙄
✌️❤
So many icons of music from great brit
When I saw Jeff a few years ago at the Hollywood bowl out came Steven Tyler and they play Train Kept A Rollin. That was a moment in time where realized I seen everything in rock ‘n’ roll. I cried with joy.🔥🎸
Jeff Beck was the guitarists guitarist. A master of many styles, unassuming, very modest, and a true innovator. RIP my friend, and thanks for the memories.

All respect & gratitude to you, Jeff Beck.
Amazing and stunning performance!! I'm 56 and I'm speechless!! I was just a kid jamming to Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page!! Mind-blowing performance!!! 😁❤️✌️✌️🤘🤘
With the way things have gone in the last five or six years, I just can't explain how much it warms my heart, To hear people show admiration for other people. I remember when class was a good thing, and you didn't have to be rich to have it.
Well said.
How can he not be the best of all time ...... And I'm not a boomer I'm from gen x and I've always thought that this (Becks sound) so diverse so rich sooooooooo lush and full yet clear , once again how can this man not have been the very best of all time.
Very cool
lucky you
Generation born in the 40s had the blessings of no two bands sounded alike 🙏
First thrash metal riff, thanks Jeff and Jimmy for influencing all of those Rock metal musicians. Life would be boring without Heavy metal. Yeah 🤘💀
Thanks, I had forgotten what that tune was.
@@peterjackel2294 Anytime!
You can see the 13 year old Jimmy admiring his friend as if it were yesterday.
Beck was one of the very few who remained both innovative and relevant for decades. Unlike most from his generation, he always brought an anticipation for was to come rather than relying on a nostalgia for what had been.
This is a far greater loss to music than those who may have been more popular or have more accolades.
R.I.P. Jeff Beck. Thank You for all of your great music.
One of the few whose guitar could literally translate vocally what others would sing. Our music world has suddenly become much smaller . RIP you wonderful man.
What a good sense of humor. Rest In Peace Jeff Beck. You will be sorely missed by all your fans. Condolences to your wife Sandra and your lifelong friend Jimmy Page
Man I'm still trying to fathom a world of music without Maestro Jeff; .my soul aches but my heart smiles for the unbelievable JOY he brought to the world.
This entire video is a guitarist's dream.
The man, always and forever, Jimmy’s nemesis and school friend, the late great Jeff Beck
We met Mr Beck while he was on a tour with Tommy Bolin in December of 1976 in Miami!! So honored to have had the pleasure of being there with one of the most talented artists of any generation!!!! RIP JEFF!!!
So nice to see this again, Pagey inducting his longtime mate Maestro Beck into the Hall...warms my heart and it's so good to see Jeff grinning ear to ear as he launches into one devastating solo after another. We are really going to miss him, it still hurts---Jeff Beck RIP.
Jeff, Vinnie, Tal, and Jason will go down as one of the greatest bands of all time that I will have never gotten to see live. RIP Jeff!
It’s disappointing that Tal isn’t featured much in this clip, she’s really got the goods. Great musician
I saw him with that band and I think that group brought out the best in him. I always liked Tal's tone and approach more than Rhonda.
I'm still in shock
He is inimitable, the absolute greatest
Jeff was the very best guitarist ever , especially with the whammy bar....He taught Hendrix a few licks....I was so lucky to have been able to see him play live back in the late 70's....He will be forever missed and remembered....😞🎸🔥💪👊🙏
Same here! Twice at the Paramount Theater in Portland,Or. 70’s
I saw the last two concerts in Sacramento and in Reno. I took a photo of him leaving the stage in Reno for the last time. Still in disbelief. He was so "on."
The greatest electric guitar player of all time.
Agreed, but it went beyond playing guitar. Just to be able to master music like he did...he never disappointed. You just knew he was going to come up with something new all the time.
RIP Jeff Beck. You are unforgettable.
Beck had unmatched technical skill on the guitar. No one played it like him because he had his own unique style. The range of tones, bends and whammy-bar use he employed were totally unique. Genius.
RIP
