Fantastic video. Deserves more views but just wanted to say it was very useful! Also personally interested in the stretches to relieve each of these muscles, but knowing the anatomy helps me work it out myself , cheers

Great video for me to repeat this after initial learning back in 2008. Nice to see a martial arts reference with the knee of the mma fighter. For abduction you could picture a side kick. My Sabomnim always says it's the hardest kick in any martial art. Especially as we sit a lot in Western culture. I'm working on abduction and extension in isolation to improve my side and back kick. Love your channel. I've featured you in a top 10 video earlier. You are born for teaching. Keep em coming!

Wow! Thank you so much. I appreciate it. And I agree with the hip abduction. When I did basic kickboxing, that was my worst kick, as I'm also less flexible at baseline than normal anyway.

Thanks for the clear explanations. Btw, doesn't the Gluteus Maximus insert/fuse into the TFL (Tensor Fasciae Latae) as well?

Great video!! Really well described and simplified. Just one question: doesn't the rectus femoris muscle also help facilitate hip flexion in addition to the illiopsoas muscle?
