I grew up outside of Columbus. I’ve been gone 12 years, now living in NC. There is a “why you should move to Ohio” commercial played all the time on local stations here! Almost makes me want to move back.
We're moving to columbus from Fort Collins, CO in August. We've been Watchung all of your content. It's been super helpful. We're going to miss our mountain views and quick access to hiking. But it sounds like a little bit of driving will get us to some nice hiking spots in Columbus too.
I just moved (end of February '24) to Groveport, OH. I'm 15 minutes to downtown, but in a very safe suburban setting. This town dies after 8pm, but all the cool places to hangout are, like I said, 15minutes away! My apartment in Lexington, KY was the same price, but the apartment I found here is 2x the size!
I used to live in Grove port in the 80s. It's grown a lot since then.had one gas station and a market store.take Grove port Pike to downtown or 33 to 70, but a lot more traffic that way.anyway good luck to ya.
Yay! You're back!!! If CBUS is growing as fast as you say they will definitely have to work on their Public Transportation. They at least need to consider light rail. They have a chance to avoid a lot of the mess that other Cities made of their traffic situation that have overlooked this issue. MAKE CBUS WALKABLE!
@indigoinarritu6096 Publi transportation all depends on population density and job creation centers. Columbus has really turned on the heat to construct short (10 stories or less) in the last decade. Now, the conversion of former office towers has begun. Next, getting the rights of way for light rail. The airport to downtown might be a first route? Or a line up to the Polaris area (which had long been talked about)?
I'd love to see a nice heavy rail metro network! More than anything I hope we'd get a station in Polaris. It's relatively dense compared to other outer ring developments and I see more apartment buildings popping up every day.
Love your videos, my friend! I'm a disabled vet. looking to move to Columbus within the next 12-24 months. Would love to see your knolwedge of the area applied to a video highlighting opprotunities/services/programs/etc. for vets in the area. For instance I've seen you mention before that property taxes can be high in Columbus. Disabled vets get some write offs or deductions on that, I'm pretty confident, that others might want to know about as well. Or that Columbus has a big VA facility just 10-15 minutes outside of the downtown area. Thanks for the great and always informative content, Sir!
I moved to Columbus from Minnesota and cost of living is here is cheaper than Minneapolis, I'm a travel nurse and my wife is also a nurse so far loving Columbus, everything is close and traffic isnt like the Twin Cities!
We moved to Columbus (suburb Ostrander) in June 2023 and am loving it. My son attends OSU and we relocated here to stay close to him. We love how affordable it is, the ease of driving around, all the great restaurants and how welcoming everyone has been. It's a much simpler way of life than the East Coast and our only regret is not moving here sooner.
(March, 2024) I am considering a move to Columbus and a HUGE Minnesota sports fan and wear it on my sleeve. I am not seeing a problem with dealing with Buckeyee fans, better than Badger fans.
There aren’t any tradesmen there, or there aren’t enough tradesmen there, so it sounds like if you need your heating fixed or your air conditioning fixed in the summer, or your plumbing fixed, who do you call? I looked up that Ohio hospital, and even though it’s supposed to be great, it has a lot of terrible reviews on Google. it reminds me of a certain hospital in Florida (Tampa General) that was on a US News World and Report list, but it was literally a terrible hospital and anyone who had an experience there didn’t want to go back.
Here in Columbus we are in dire need a tradesman like everywhere else. If you call someone you don't know/don't have a referral it won't go well for your checking account. Hospitals are strained everywhere. People need to get their health taken more seriously
Im a young man that might be moving to Columbus for work from California (Cant see myself ever owning a home or raising a family in California, the millennials are wrecking the state). Are there apartment options or is everything mostly single family homes? How are the churches in the area?
Love the cyclist giving the finger as he rode by. Love that friendly Midwest attitude 😂. Born and raised in Bexley, live in Los Angels for 30 years, the only thing I miss is Rubino’s Pizza
Nice video, sir. Easily said by someone who makes money getting people to buy homes in Columbus.! Columbus is a fine area but I would like to point out it has changed a lot and not all for the bettter. I’m good at being rude and blunt so here it goes. Let me remind you the southside has been a mess for as long as I can remember. The casino certainly hasn’t saved the declined west side. Northland is literally a Third World. Eastland is a downright deserted boarded up ghetto. And I don’t know why you think traffic is so wonderful getting around. That’s the real Columbus. Your customers aren’t being steered to. I bet you’re selling much higher prices outside of 270 in a burb. Of course since nearly the whole county is trchnicslly “Columbus,” (but you may not have to go to Columbus schools, thank God,) You can still say it’s Columbus!!
I’m moving to Columbus Ohio all alone, I’m so excited. I’m scared though, I’m from Tampa, FL. My rent is $2k a month. It takes me 45 mins to drive 11 miles to work.. I can’t. I’m drained. I’m excited to leave.
No, it's not "bad direction." Our state capital is a job creating engine. It has taken four decades for the throttle to reach "full." Other Ohio cities will see the spill over growth/redevelopment. What made us great in the mid-19th-mid 20th centuries is required again, and we have it in trainloads!
I moved here from DC because it was touted as being progressive. I found it pretentious and the people clannish, rude, and Appalachian. Then, they place a tremendous amount of focus on Ohio State sports like it’s the only thing they have to hold onto. I left after two years.
Kids every time they hear "ohio" when the video has nothing to do with the meme be like: ONLY IN OH- WE GET IT! PLUS, IT'S A DEAD MEME! PEOPLE FROM OHIO ARE ALSO BORN JUST LIKE YOU! YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?
Columbus has the most impatient drivers. They have been voted third most impatient drivers in America. And an impatient driver is a dangerous driver. “Tail Gate city”. Everywhere you drive you will be tail gated. Get ready to disregard the speed limit or you will be passed in the most dangerous situations. Generally, speed over curtsy. In an accident, you cant tell the Judge - “Everybody else does it.”
Coming from a person that has lived here for 30 years don't move here. Do your research on drugs crime and violence first. The property taxes are getting out of hand. Just do your research first please.
we are trying to move there by the end of 2025

Light rail us often discussed but not yet committed to. The last proposal that I know of was to run a line up N. High St.

Great job here. Can't see how we're the Silicon Valley of The Midwest, though.
I didn't coin it that. In 10 years we all might be saying that though

Plenty of churches. Sort of a housing crunch here but there are both apartments and single family homes

Not for everyone I guess. I can see the clannish thing mostly from people who never left to explore other areas.
I've noticed some immaturity amongst the women. I'm from the D.C. area, and it's weird to deal with women stuck in high school.
