- Going on roadtrips in 660cc powered kei cars is nothing new to me BUT going on a 1000 mile roadtrip in one is a different story! In this series I'm going to drive my 1997 Honda Life over 1000 miles stopping a cool JDM dealerships on the way and hopefully finding my next project kei for the channel in the process! Come along for the ride and lets see if the good ole kei car can make it with little to no issues.

The joy that driving small JDM stuff brings everyone around you makes driving so, so much better. It's just so rewarding to do and it keeps me importing!
Thats why i love key cars, they just as much attention if not more than the more expensive cars like supra and skyline and are way cheaper to buy and you can actually enjoy them

Love watching your stuff dude. I also have a kei car and daily it. I drive it 130 or so km per day to work and been amazing. I have the 96 Daihatsu Mira avenzato trxx. Not to many of the cars in Canada. We have lots of the key vans.
I haven’t driven one of those yet but I heard there fire, I saw one at Duncan imports black with all the decals it’s in my kei heaven video

@@Waybeforethefame I actually suggest giving one a drive. It's pretty quick actually. It can do 100km no issues at 4500rpm and has lots of jam still to take it to 140. If it didn't have the governor it could easily do 170 I think. Would be cool to see some more videos of it also.

You ought to go to Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, TN. They have a lot of Kei cars there you like. A lot of strange cars around the world. Airplanes. They even have a 2014 Volkswagen that gets 260 miles per gallon.
I really wanna make it out there before the Kei exhibit goes away in march 2024!

If you can find the midget 2 in manual, single seat, but with the covered bed, like the one in Hawaii, Then you'd have my dream midget 2. That variant is vary rare, as most of the covered bed version were automatics.

I’m now just getting into the idea of importing one using Beforward, but would love some advice if you guys could provide some. Only thing that sucks is I live in California, everyone knows how anal this state is.

today while driving i saw a hijet coming in opposite lane. we seen each other and waved would of loved to talk and find out stuff that he might know where to get maintinence im still looking for insurance the vin number is to short they have issues with that. i need tires would like to get new shocks struts all new brakes tires and rims of course and have the engine looked at all the fluids took me several hours just to find the oil dipstick and im not much of a machanic so anyway im looking on line a lot and theirs very little info out there on my tiny van i love it drive it daily 97 daihatsu atria fully loaded moon roof power everything vibrates really bad when i get past 100 anyway sorry for the long post

i've owned kei cars for years now the only downside for me is if you press it a little bit hard it will start consuming more gas then for example 1000CC cars and start/stop AC which trying to overtake which is annoying but hey its just 600CC car.
Edit: suzuki celerio is good option for small cars i currently own, very low mileage and better then 600cc kei cars
How tall are you? How is the headroom? Knee room? Do you have the seat all the way back?
Kei hatchbacks and are very roomy you could be 6’2 and still fit cozy

Surprised your mpg isn't that great.
I do mostly highway 120kmph.
Auto 3spd Cappuccino highways gets 33mpg
5spd 1990 Alto RSR gets 33-35mpg
5spd 1997 Diahatsu Move SRXX gets 35-37mpg.
Well those have turbos the life does not so thats 1 huge difference and mines a 3 speed auto

@@Waybeforethefame Autos are always going to keep MPG way down with 90’s cars, especially with 3 speeds. When people talk about good mpg, they’re almost assuredly talking about 5 speed manuals. Maintenance is another big thing, if things like spark plugs are old or the valves/piston rings are worn, that will really reduce power and mpg. Imported keis are a mixed bag and some were taken care of and others were driven into the ground. Unless you’ve basically rebuilt the engine there’s no telling if you’re getting factory mpg or not.
I just imported a 1995 Cappuccino auto and looking to drive it from Las Vegas NV to San Antonio TX to register it in Texas. I have the correct insurance and all the import paperwork. Does anyone see me having an issue with law enforcement on a 1300 mile trip with no license plates

I'm watching you from Tanzania🇹🇿 Africa. In my country there are many kei trucks which are famously known as KIRIKUU, due to their resemblance with a certain swahili catroon called KIRIKUU. We love them and they have made haulage of different goods affordable. They have made medium size pick up trucks and light duty trucks obsolete. Everyone opts for kirikuu for haulage of anything. Keep making kei content brother, i have just subscribed this evening. Good work
