      I bowled a 300 once, it was more luck than skill. I would bowl about twice a week. The stars just lined up that night. I had just the right amount of alcohol in me, not too much, not too little. Anyway, it became my Al Bundy "4 touchdowns in one game" moment. The highlight of my life. I didn't get a $10k bonus, but I got my name up on the wall of the bowling alley, and that was just as good.

      Highest I've ever bowled is 224, which isn't terrible and I bowl nearly 5 times a week in the summer and winter. I throw a two handed back up ball tho, which is basically a left handed hook off my right hand

    Steadiness and calmness. With two of these can give a chance for perfection. Little did I know the perfection is going to be achieved on this telecast, but after watching that wise canadian guy shooting 300 on telecast, I was so proud to see him with his concentration!
    (Well, although, it's 6 years ago, but it is REALLY good to see a first ever televised 300 by Lavoie!)

    That's Freakin Awesome!!
    You could see he was dialed in on the lanes and trusted the ball!! Even with a couple outside his line, he knew that ball was coming back to the pocket!! Congratulations.... 🎳

    For people who noticed him being calm, it's actually a strategy. When you shout, your blood flow and pulse change. A swing after a shout will have a different outcome unless you can gain your control/composure back.

    I've haven't watched bowling matches in a long time and ever since the two handed bowling delivery has been more widespread I've noticed inconsistencies left and right coming from players like Moldonado and even Belmo. They can bowl high games and are good at crushing pins, but there's something I just don't like about the way the ball is delivered. Speed and rotation is definitely a bowler's best friend but seeing these open frames and splits make me like two handed bowlers less and less. Maybe I'm old school. Maybe I haven't caught the two handed bug yet.

    • @mumblesbadly7708
      @mumblesbadly7708 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, but it’s hard to argue with the tremendous success top-level two-handers like Belmonte have exhibited over the past few years.

    • @Brent500
      @Brent500 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've bowled since the 1970s and 80s. Back then, nobody ever threw it with two hands and not putting your fingers in the holes. It simply wasn't anyone thought about it. I think it's a big step down to see it in fairly widespread practice today. In this match above, you had a calm, classic 120 lbs guy precisely throwing his ball to great effect, and a heavier more brutish looking guy just spinning his ball down the lane way harder. The results spoke for themselves.

    • @Boostedgt07
      @Boostedgt07 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      D3c3ptic0n I don’t know how long it’s been popular, but I hate it and think it shouldn’t be allowed. Back in the day there were balls that had an extra hole for your pinky, I feel the same about those, should never have been allowed, they got rid of that and I think not using your thumb needs to be against the rules.

    • @niccoagujo4663
      @niccoagujo4663 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Boostedgt07 they're actually banning weight holes in 2020 and the two handers need to have two finger holes if they're not using the thumb.

    Why was Lavoie wearing a microphone? He never made a peep! Shawn tried to get rid of his 11:10 (accidentally), because he was down 80 pins and didn't have much to say anyway. But the crew would have none of it and hooked him back up.
