I really hope these papers are gonna be the same difficulty as the mocks we’ve done, I’ve found them quite easy so far so hoping for don’t throw in a curveball
Toby O'Connor how good is your teacher? The main reason why we’re doing so well as a class is because our teacher is literally the best in the school by a mile
Toby O'Connor pixl papers? We use them in maths sometimes. That’s deffo not a proper mock. It might be because computer science is such a new gcse that there are basically no practice papers for schools. Good luck in the prem next season btw
i’ve always struggled with this topic i just don’t think my teacher explained it well, however your video is great and clear thank you so much i’ll subscribe and like
Hi, i keep commenting on your videos, thankyou for your replies in the other videos, they are really really helpful, im just nervous because my exam is on monday. Anyways, what do you mean when you say binary data is stored as variations of height on the disk's surface, i dont quite get it.
For optical, it means the surface of the disk is being changed so that light is reflected differently. Representing binary is all about finding two things to represent the 0s and 1s, and in this case, it's just dents in a disk
Kind of the other way round - the laser will burn the 'pit' into the disk, say representing a 0, then when it reads that data the light will not be reflected directly up (like if it was flat, representing 1), so it can tell it's representing 0 based on how the light reflects
Ohhh, i get it now, so if i explain this in an exam question asking me to explain the way in which optical storage works, am i eligible for full marks?
The terms are slightly ambiguous, but flash memory is the overarching term - solid-state is a flash memory technology. It's hard to answer your second question because they are all based on the same idea, that non-mechanical circuits are used to store the data
Yes It Does, Term Disc Refers To Optical Storage Device Such As CD However, Disk Is Used For Magnetic Storage Device Such As Floppy Or Hard Disk. Otherwise, You Can Check On Google.
wow, this is so much better then my lessons!! thank you so much for making these videos (:
Optical storage - 1:49
Magnetic storage - 3:26
Solid-state storage - 5:10
Cloud storage - 6:51
you are actually so good at explaining im so surprised someone can explain something this well. thank you so much
Amazing videos, I’ve already watched a bunch in prep for thurs! You’ve helped me thru the school year, thank you!!
Next Monday guys!!!
edit: TOMORROW GUYS!
Sissi 😬😬😬
Fuck
lol LETS FUCKING GO
😬😬😬
How did it go?
life saver my g. I've got my GCSE computer science tomorrow.
how'd it go?
I really hope these papers are gonna be the same difficulty as the mocks we’ve done, I’ve found them quite easy so far so hoping for don’t throw in a curveball
Alluvium most people got 4s and 5s in the mocks, I personally found it quite hard, so I hope it will be easier
Toby O'Connor how good is your teacher? The main reason why we’re doing so well as a class is because our teacher is literally the best in the school by a mile
Alluvium I mean our teachers alright but it could be because we didn’t acctually do a proper mock, it was like some pixl papers

Good luck in the prem next season btw
My exams tomorrow good luck to you guys
mocks in a week i thought i was completely done for but these videos make me think i have a chance thank you
i’ve always struggled with this topic i just don’t think my teacher explained it well, however your video is great and clear thank you so much i’ll subscribe and like
this is a very helpful video, thankyou!
Good Luck everyone and thank you Computer Science Tutor
wow, I found this video really helpful ..thank you
Anyone here right now because last minute squad
me lol good luck man
how was it man?
Linked from a teacher. I’ve always found it weird how nobody else from my class comments but maybe I’m the weird one idk
exam is next week oof
Hasty_H we got this. Stay strong 💪

Hasty_H today 😬
Hasty_H good luck everyone
Can the magnetic disk be interfered by electromagnets? Love the video, very informative!
Yes, would probably void the warranty though 😀
Cheers! Good luck everyone!!

Oh, so the direction of the light reflection determines what binary value is assigned?
Kind of the other way round - the laser will burn the 'pit' into the disk, say representing a 0, then when it reads that data the light will not be reflected directly up (like if it was flat, representing 1), so it can tell it's representing 0 based on how the light reflects

so so helpful thank you
How is flash memory linked to SSDs? and are flash drives and USBs a type of solid state?
The terms are slightly ambiguous, but flash memory is the overarching term - solid-state is a flash memory technology. It's hard to answer your second question because they are all based on the same idea, that non-mechanical circuits are used to store the data
thanks
You deserve a nobel peace prize
Maybe after Trump?
Hi, is it possible to say that magnetic storage can be more prone to mechanical wear due to there being moving parts, great video .
Yes precisely, that's a good way of putting it
Hey what is said at 0:14 ? :)
hy,i like your videos
thank you
Can you play the Magneto disk on a cd player like of you have music downloaded to the cd ?????
Good luck lads
anyone here for last minute revision
I forgot I did computer science
So have I got all 4 of these or? In my pc I mean
Probably not (and not cloud of course, although you may use it), but many computers use a mix of solid state and magnetic.
Hey! Does it matter if we use disc or disk, or is there a big difference?
No, doesn't matter 😃
Fallen Out 4 Times j
