They thought of most everything else. It really surprised me that they didn't include velcro. In the wind it was not too bad, but every little bit helps and that fix seems super cheap. I may break out my sewing machine and give the mod a shot. I hate being cold camping. Getting soft in my old age LOL!
Nice reveiw and comparison. My ARB awning and room have been serving me well for many years now. I do like the differences in this Iron Man Version. I think the light systems are a gimmick. I don't need them and use whatever light I want.
wow 75% off is a heck of a deal. I love this awning tent and would gladly get it again if it wore out. Not as quick as a swing out awning system, but the price and weight savings alone are worth it.
A few years ago, I sold my 8x8 ARB tent and got a 6.5x8 Ironman. ARB seemed to include too many features and zippers and I wanted a smaller tent. The bag the Ironman comes with is still huge though so I don't know if that worked out. It does make it easier to put away. The quality of both was good. I think I could design one of these better for my needs, but I am not unhappy with the Ironman although I am thinking a standalone cabin tent might be nice to try rather than having it attached to the SUV. In heavy winds, attached gives it a lot of support but less flexible when setting up camp. Overall I think I am happier with the Ironman and it was cheaper for me too, although there are some annoying design features with it too. Why they give you a nice LED light that slides into the same channel that front seam of the tent has to slide into? Maybe just consider that a useless extra but I still haven't gotten around to buying a decent hanging LED light for the tent because they included it.
I was worried that going to the hard case 8x8 awning would have issues getting it stored. Luckily I found it even easier to store inside than my 6.5x8 ARB with the zip up bag. It's kind of embarrassing to admit, but my biggest reason for going to the 8x8 was because I liked the look of the hard case ARB. The 6.5x8 was plenty big for me as well and lighter. I kind of miss the easy setup of having the ARB light in the awning, but it drew a ton of bugs into the space between the awning and the room. That was annoying to clean out when I took it down. I have experimented with a lot of different lighting for the room. I think I finally settled with my favorite. Goal Zero has something called the Light-A-Life. I got a set of 4 as a gift and use 2 in the awning room and one in my tent. I think they are overpriced at $80 for 4, but dang they just work better than anything else I have found. I will make a video on them my next trip out for you to take a look at. I am heading out in about 2 weeks and will get it uploaded shortly after that. You can check out in person if you have an REI store near you.
Iron Man is always having sales so get on their email list. I have a few of their things, table, arwing light, compressor and have been thinking of adding an arwing and tent
Yep you just can’t beat getting things when they are on sale. I timed most of my stuff to get them on sale. Amazon is cool and all, but I always hit up any manufacturer website to price check before making a purchase. They have a wide variety of stuff on their site. With July 4th coming I will have to check on their awning light strip.
I am not sure about other people, but the two reasons why I set mine up on the drivers side are because I can remember to check tree clearance while driving on trails easier and my RTT opens on the passenger side.
Very cool. I stayed there for the first time last fall. I am interested in the ARB awning, and using the Ironman anex with it. Does this affect the use of the integrated led light of the ARB awning? I would not think so, but could not tell. Thanks for making the video. Was very helpful.
@@oOoJamMasterJoOo it does pretty much cut out most of the light from the LED on the awning. Even on full blast it is not much more than a nightlight. You can hang a lantern from the loops on the sides or they have a separate LED light strip you can hang. I just went with using a lantern or light ranger since I already had them. Works pretty well, but not the same as the awesome multicolor light built into the awning.
I appreciate the info. I have a Hardkorr light set I could use, but I really like that integrated strip. I’ll have to think on it now. Thanks again for the solid review and the follow up.
@@oOoJamMasterJoOo I used the ARB awning on my last 6.5 foot ARB awning. It was not bad. Dealbreaker for me was that it leaked through the door and T side openings. Since me and the pup slept down there I didn’t go that route this time. If I was not sleeping in it I would have a hard decision. I loved that dang awning light too.
I must say overland calling I like your video I think I will come back and watch you again this is my first time being here on your channel
Welcome to the channel and glad you liked the vid! If you have any questions just let me know.
Well done . You steered me into buying the Ironman awning and awning room. Can't wait till it arrives. Seriously...nice video...Thanks
Thank you for the kind words and I am glad it helped! I have been using mine quite a bit since making the video and it is still going strong.
You already mentioned it but had same thought those flaps for wind keeping the draft out velcro would work amazing here so a really quick solution.

We sure like our Ironman Awning Room too!!!
yeah it is a great product! I have been enjoying the heck out of it. When the mosquitos start swarming I duck inside and laugh at them.

Thanks! I tried to do it justice. Still getting the hang of things filming and remembering to cover everything.
I have this exact anwing tent made by Ironman 4x4 for sale in Southwest Washington
75%off

Great review keep it up buddy 💯
Thanks! I hope it helped! Been out camping for the past 3 weeks and it is still going strong.

I have the Ironman awning/ room and like it a lot. Why do i see more people camp set up on driver side?

GREAT REVIEW !!
Thank you!
That looks like Table Rock up in the Linville Gorge of NC. What mountain is that in the distance?
You are 100% right! I was camped off of old NC 105 for 5 days when I made this video.
